Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Replying to Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. This is not just for me as the creator, it is a valuable source of information for all readers of the comments. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes significant time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! So my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live for the first few hours at least, and beyond that when possible. I'll see how that works out 😊

The victorinox knifes in the US might be more expensive than in the UK but they are funnily enough still cheaper then if youd buy them in a store here in Switzerland
Crazy 🤣
I am poor, so I am patient. I was going to wait quite a while to get earbuds as match this S23 Ultra but I really think those Soundcores will do me. Saved me a lot of research, thank you kindly.
Actually the super tinker is still about $28 on amazon us as well!
Hi Dom - that's good to know - it was showing as unavailable on Amazon so I got that price off other retailers.
Yet another very helpful and professional review, as always! I have been a subscriber from the beginning, Jon, and have always appreciated your attention to important detail, elocution, and high production value. Best to you.
Hi Jon, you have possibly reached the epitome of review videos! This one video review has touched on the high notes of excellence in all areas of informative salesmanship. First the product choice is excellent, second the presentation is superb. Third the video length, lighting, audio quality is spot on. I rarely watch a video from beginning to end but this review for the reasons mentioned was joy to watch. Kudos to you.
He definitely has the mastered being positive about what he does without crossing over to over hyping products.
Stop the hyperbole…his vids are good but def not “epitome”😂😂
@@deykno87 Mr Rain Walker is a little over happy, bless him.
I watch Jon’s videos beginning to end even if the gadgets aren’t specifically of interest to me. His analysis always makes me think about my gadgets and improving my life and those of my family with useful gadgets.
🤡
Thanks for this ,I always enjoy your understated enthusiasm and you have shown a few products here that I will be buying in the next couple of hours .Always a pleasure listening to your opinions and recommendations ,you have saved me a lot of time and effort.
The Nite Ize Gear Ties are great. I have them in several sizes, but I especially like the 3" and 6" sizes. They are the best solution for securing cables for travel. One thing that isn't obvious from the photos is that you usually don't have to twist the ends of the Gear Tie together. It's stiff enough that you can just wrap it around the coiled cable and let go -- it will hold that shape until you unwrap it.
Jon....Appreciate the video.... have earmarked a few of the products you showcased. Keep up the good work!
I absolutely love your videos!! Thank you!
Thanks Jon for your review. That screwdriver kit looks fab! Definitely on my to order list.
THIS is the video i've been waiting on!
Absolutely one of my favourite channels on UA-cam. Credit to you and your team Jon
Big up Jamie 😁
Thanks Mike, really appreciated
I bought a pair of the Soundcore earbuds using your link. I've never owned noise-canceling headphones of any kind before and wow - what a fabulous difference they make. I'm very happy with the earbuds. Thanks for steering me to them, Jon.
Outstanding presentation! Thank you!
Always informative, entertaining, and current.
Wow you really scored some amazing finds for the prices. That powerbank, the fidget toy. Thanks!
I was very happy to see that I was right in at least three items mentioned in the video, my Roxion and its excellent scissors, the Gerber for example, good choices for my edc, curious how we like these things so much and regardless of how much we use them, we always want more.😊
I own that Gerber tool, bought it mostly for the crowbar and I love it, really feels like a premium tool imho.
Never stopped by to thank you for your amazing content so here it is. Nice touch for the headphones i was looking for some new ones to replace my sheet airpods 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
unbelievably great videos, informative and well presented and very entertaining, thanks
What I actually like more about the LefRight mini pack vs. the similarly-sized Maxpedition one is that its grab handle actually extends down as straps. That means I can slip it along a belt if I want it at my waist rather than in my pocket. This is good if I'm using it for hiking, where having things in my pockets might restrict my range of motion. Also, even easier access.
Curious. How do extend it down as a strap to loop around a belt?
I like the super tinker but the fieldmaster is close running too. Extra layer for the woodsaw which I do find handy as EDC
I can definitely also recommend the Gerber Prybrid. I own many knives and multi tools but this gets used everyday. Excellent video as always, Jon.
I bought one over a year ago, it's a great bit of kit used daily.
Great presentation Jon! Love your work!
Another cracking video Jon. Thanks for your excellent research and opinions. 👍🏻
Thanks Ian. That is much appreciated.
Love that knockoff clutch battery. I have been using the USB C version for a few weeks now. I combined it with a few other items to make a cheaper version of the sprkcharger battery wallet. Allows me to have a means to charge my stuff without really adding extra weight from a pretty slim edc.
Another great video, thank you for sharing. I have been inspired by the recommendations on useful tools and the surprising gear ties. Love to see more of this, thumb up!
Great to hear!
On the wuben c3, I have had one for 2 years. It has held up fairly well but at the 1 year mark it started flickering every now and then. By the 2 year mark it was unusable. Had to replace the battery and it started working fine again. Just a note for your viewers.
For flashlight, may I suggest the Sofirn HS10? Much better for EDC for $20. Right angle, only 2 oz and full color rendering and a headlight too. Very good user interface, just one click and fully customizable modes that can be remembered.
Thanks Jon for another great selection. I’ve ordered the ear buds as they sound amazing. Cheers for the £20 discount code.
You're welcome - I believe they were only released yesterday! I'm sure you'll be as impressed as I was.
@@JonGadget OMG the buds turned up today. Seriously impressed by the speed of dispatch and the sound quality is amazing!
I bought an older version of the TNTOR power bank last year (which has a capacity of 2500 mAh). It resides in a pocket of my Viperade VE18 pocket organizer, so it's always on me when I go out. Another TNTOR model with a 5000 mAh capacity lives in my messenger bag, which typically stays in my car. If I'm away from the car (on a hiking trail or in a theme park, for example), I still have the 2500 mAh one in my pocket for an emergency charge. I also have a non-TNTOR 10,000 mAh bank in the tech pouch that I use for travel.
Definitely a belt-and-suspenders approach, but it makes sense for me. The 5000 and 10,000 mAh banks are for charging ANY mobile device, and I carry the necessary cables for doing that. The TNTOR Ultra Thin is ONLY for emergency charging of my iPhone. I knew when I bought it that 2500 was not enough for a full charge, but I figured that a decent partial charge would be good enough for short-term emergency use. I tested it by letting the phone's battery decline to about 15%, and then connecting it to the TNTOR, which brought it back up to 70%. I think that's an excellent result for a power bank so slim and light that I can carry it in my pocket without even noticing that it's there.
Jon is reviewing a newer version, which boosts the capacity to 3500 mAh. But it also increases the thickness from 4 mm to 5.5. (Both models weigh 2.35 ounces, or 67 grams.) I wanted the thinnest power bank available, so I think I'll stick with what I have.
Good recommendation on theifixit screwdriver set it arrived today & it is a nice quality set, Thank You!
Excellent video ,sir
Thanks for the video - love the Amazon-themed videos.
good to know - thank you
I've had a multitool on me since I first discovered them as a teenager. Its as important to grab in the morning as keys or wallet.
Can you make a video re some good packing cubes? I know you’ve mentioned some in your other videos, but not a lot of detail specifically re the packing cubes and how best to use them.
I've put it on the list for the next travel gear vid
Damn I almost bought everything. Good stuff ..
I actually already have the original victoranox tinker! I carry it everywhere and it’s amazing!
Defenitely one of the better EDC item videos ive seen, thanks for a great video. Easy to get burned out on the videos where 2 knives alone are going to cost $300-$400
Great video Jon. What watch are you wearing. Thx
Can't beat the Super Tinker in my eyes. Coupled with some Knipex and an olight torch and you've got a great lightweight EDC kit.
Kudos one of the only reviewers that actually tells the prices
That TNTOR power bank looks excellent ! Can't wait for the review 👍
Nice video! Kudos! 🤘🤘🤘
I've loved my pair of Soundcore Liberty 2's for the past year or so, definitely going to try out the Liberty 4's!
Great to hear (literally 🤣)
I like the Victorinox Climber because it has a corkscrew instead of the Phillip's screwdriver. I upgraded mine with a straight pin, ink pen, and eyeglasses screwdriver.
Great video and indeed some nice amazon finds. does the super tinker have the hole for the pin behind the philips screwdriver ?
Great video. But what make/model is your watch? I love it
Love watching this guy I’m hooked
thanks Raymond
That light looks great too !!
Great video John . Lots of awesome affordable items . 👍😁
Good to hear - thanks
Thank you
Hey Jon I had a suggestion for your travel kit. Not sure on the legality there, but a simple lockpick rake or two tucked into the MOLLE webbing on a Maxpedition Mini is nice if you get locked out of the house
Thank you for your work ! When i think i was just passing by few motnhs ago, to learn a little more about the swisscard... And now i fall into EDC world, and i'm full loaded 😂
In addition, EDC is very uncommon in France, so yeah i'm kind of alone here, one the other side of the English Channel. Alone, but proud of it !
Welcome to the world of EDC 😁
Not that many UK channels like this keep up the good work as i really like yiur content.
The Prybrid is such a great knife. It's been my primary utility knife for a long time now.
Good to know 👍
Cheers Jonathan!! I’ve been looking for a screwdriver that can carry a few bits of my EDC bag. The ifixit looks great. You saved me further time hunting for one 👍🏻😁👍🏻
Also the soundcore earbuds tick a lot of boxes for me.
I’ve had a TNTOR 5000mah slim powerbank for 3.5 years and it still works perfectly well.
All great to hear Michael
I don't think I've ever used the Victornix parcel hook to hold a shopping bag. What I do use it for all the time is cinching up laces on hiking and running shoes. Works like a champ.
Maybe they can make a hook to hold our tampons too 🤔
Like a Swiss champ?
Yes! really good for show laces 👍
@@CrunchyTire Whatever does your comment even mean?
Thanks for that vid! You didnt sound as commited as you normally do at the beginning but at the end you did well. I know I requested this but I didnt expect you to do one this fast. Very well done though. Thanks again mate!
Perhaps because I was a bit under the weather - lots of coughing between takes!
Love your videos
Victorinox is good love it
Hi Jon …I recommend the Nitecore NB 10000 gen 2 …150grams so will do about 7000 mAh som2 x an iPhone
Hey man you are awesome! Definitely subbing
I bought the power bank based off your recommendation and I love the slim design with lightning cable attached. Just be aware it charges really slow. About 10-12% every 30min.
The lawn mowing is a nice touch!
great test for noise cancelling and cheaper than a flight!
2 fidget cubes ordered! Cheers.
Never seen anyone so dedicated to ✂️ scissors 😂. But seriously, great channel and very well paced reviews with lots of great info.
Jon, I can't scan UA-cam without stopping at your channel.
Instead of the Super Tinker I prefer the Climber that has corkscrew instead of the Phillips head screwdriver on the back. I found the small flathead SD on the can opener to be enough for me for Phillips screws in a pinch (and it's inline so easier to access the screw, also I can keep my tiny eyeglass screwdriver on the corkscrew).
Fun fact: the Compact used to be my favourite until I came across a normal sized Phillips screw and that's the biggest weakness of the Compact. Plus a 3-layer SAK is more comfortable in the hand anyway and if you already have a 58 mm Manager (discontinued but I own one), Midnite Manager or MiniChamp you've already got better and more comfortable ballpoint pen and nailfile than you will ever have on the Compact.
Great feedback - thanks for sharing
Great channel John , contrats!
thank you
I got the c3 in 2020 and it is running great since then i use it almost every day and it is awesome, it's not true that you can expect a usefull light for up to 50 meters but it is great even past 100 meters
Great to hear it's still going strong!
I've been pretty happy with the Wuben C2 which is a little more at $45, but brighter and can use 21700 or 18650 batteries and includes power bank function. But if budget is the breaker, totally agree here. If you go Tinker line up, definitely this is the better one, the regular Tinker doesn't have scissors... how??? LOL
Thanks for the feedback - yes I need those scissors!
Good stuff Mr J. Gadget. Still off of Gerber because of their customer service. They stopped communicating or answering emails after approving a warranty issue. It’s been almost three years.
Not good
Another superb video jon ....fantastic sound core earphones . I'm getting these ..
My victorinox ranger CANNOT BE BEATEN ....
The thin power bank is excellent
The pouch is great value ... I'M
GETTING THE gerber prybrid...
Phenomenal
..still love my olight ...
Lanyard beads should be functional ,i.e luminous , or tungsten carbide ,or abrasive ,or magnesium ,or ceramic ,or gold ,etc.etc...
I still think fidget toys are for muppets ..
The gear tie IS TRULY EXCELLENT . .
you're now fully established as the foremost
E D C
specialist on UA-cam ..
Well done jon.
Great feedback David and thanks for the kind channel contents
I have a soundcore speaker for travel. Very small and loud but good quality. Very pleased. May have to check out the earbuds
great to hear
@@JonGadget ahhh. I see what you did there. 😎
I haven't seen anyone mention it before so FYI; The "Package Hook" can be used as a T-handle for removing fish hooks to release fish. You place the Package Hook around the fish-hook, grab the line a foot or so above it and then bring the line down alongside the fish. Holding the fish over the water you bring both hands down a bit then lift up sharply. The momentum of the fish pulls it free of the hook and it drops into the water with minimal handling. Many fishing channels including "The Fish Locker" illustrate the procedure.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
😊
Great 💡
Jon gadget the asmr of edc vids
Can you do a made in UK full edc? Thanks love the vids
Jon, do, please. I’m super keen to hear about more British makers such Wingback, and Silver Fox Tools. I’m with Jack on this one (good shout, Sir), I’d love your take on the best the home market can manage.
Many thanks for another entertaining and interesting video.
@@user-lj6ue9tq9i absoloutely agree fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Great idea - is now on the list - thanks for the suggestion
Crikey John I’m only 15 minutes in with 7 to go and already £100 lighter! That said I’ve been looking at Bluetooth ear buds for some time now and been swamped by the options. Tried a few with disappointing results so all have been returned. My guess is if you think their good, so will I. Looking forward to the soundcores coming through the letterbox later. Thanks for the informative review.
I really like them - I hope will too - great performance and features for the price
Surprised you didn't mention the Roxon M2, which is also UK legal, do you plan to cover it in depth? considering it has pliers AND amazing scissors and in my opinion an absolutely amazing toolset it maybe one of the best tools of its size since Leatherman discontinued the Juice and Squirt
I bet the recessed area exposing the blade can be used as a seat belt cutter in vehicle emergencies.
👍. About to go on hols. What is your travel bank for iPhone? And putting a leatherman or victorinox in the suitcase a bad idea??
Power bank preference is Nitecore NB10000 - nor probs putting Leatherman or Vic on checked in luggage - be be aware of carry laws at your destination
Sucks you can’t have locking blades there, but almost everything else about England is AWESOME!!!! Love the UK
Wow us guys are going to have to start using handbags for all this stuff!
You know I bought a set of keys for my EDC the end of one is Philips the end of the other is slotted It has a hole in the handle? designed to turn nuts. I think it ran around $10.00
Something to look at.
The ifixit moray is a great set! I cut the inside out of the lid so I could fit more bits in the handle and it’s in my EDC pouch for on the go knife maintenance etc. managed to get six bits in without the sim ejector insert.
People sharing info like this is what makes youtube great. Thanks!
Great to hear - thanks for sharing
Jon, you are solely to blame for my Wuben/ Rovyvon collection. My wife sends her thanks 😂
Apologies to your wife!
What is Roxon for a brand, which country?
I do not like those pocket clips which are only clipped to the flashlight. I need my flashlight for work (and for protection). Had several cases where I was parked somewhere with my semi and somebody was fiddling around on my trailer and when I got out and they started to make trouble, I could blind them / scare them away with my flashlight. Doesn't work if the light is buried deep in my pocket because I lost another clip or vice versa.
Nice video) Have you really moved back to Victorinox Compact from James Brand Ellis ? If yes, could u please say why then?) Also would like to see review and your opinion on rovyvon aurora a8 4th )
Yes, I've moved back - I have a video on the channel explaining why - Rovyvon A8 G4 review coming up in a couple of weeks
@@JonGadget thanks 🔥 nice to hear
Personally, I'd like to see more multi tools with every day useful things like a magnifying glass, parcel hook, etc. and fewer with tools like an awl/reamer/punch or corkscrew which I've never used or seen anyone use in my life outside the home, where you'd already have access to a better version.
Frankly, I also think a tiny ferro rod or pen are usually more useful than the thin dinky tweasers and toothpick they provide.
I have an issue with boxes like ifixit magnet type closing: after a while magnets loosen in their places and after opening the case they all are attached to one each other randomly leaving hollow spaces and stacking on one each other...
I love EDC gear, my bag keeps getting bigger
Mine too!
Can you please make a seperate video on Leatherman Crunch?
I featured this in my top 7 Leatherman video
I am just curious, do you or anyone you know ever modify multitools so they are UK legal, by replacing locking blades with other tools?
The TNTOR is cool but I think the Charge Card is better because it fits in my wallet.
🙌
I would not consider $99;for soundcore budget considering you can get AirPods 1gen for that price. I have a set of soundcore for $28 they work great.
Anyone know what the Victorinox Compact is?
Why on earth is the pouch 60€ in Germany?
