Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase and item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Many suppliers are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes sent a product by a supplier which I may include if the product fits planned content and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. The product needs to be worthy of a review and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the content in any way. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many product offers are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review. There is no cost to you and in some cases discounts can be obtained via the link or via an included code.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Replying to Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. This is not just for me as the creator, it is a valuable source of information for all readers of the comments. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes significant time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! So my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live for the first few hours at least, and beyond that when possible. I'll see how that works out 😊

I'm pretty sure anyone interested in the pipe feature of the key is not going to be putting tobacco in it.
People use it to smoke marijuana too
Strange thing though to have in a tool like this!
@@JonGadget I'm guessing it is about creating a secondary market for a niche product.
@@mcrobielord1503 oh, do people do that?
You’ve crack-ed it
I so enjoy your reviews! I was getting excited about the folding spork/spoon - until you demonstrated its obvious flaw! What a mess! Thank you for taking the time to show this!
Glad you enjoyed it!
That folding utensil had me chuckling good when it spilled out the back end. One wonders if anyone in house tests ideas before sending for manufacture.
There actually exists a knife/fork combo in a credit card form factor.
But I forgot the name.
Always enjoy your videos. Having Jamie pop in here and there adds an extra dimension which I also enjoy. Thanks.
The most unusual part of this video was McDonalds Ice cream machine actually working.
🤣
🤣😂🤣😂 Truth!
Well in the Netherlands it always work .
So its really a usa problem lol.
5:15 "comes out the other end, as this will be very shortly, I imagine..." 😂😂😂
15:17 Tobacco. Sure. That's what it's for. Tobacco. OK.
😆🤣😆
yep 😬
Loved your testing on this vid 😂
Good to know 👍
A great selection! it's always a treat to view some of the more unusual bits of gear on the market.
... Great to see Jamie again!! Last time we saw him I think was last Xmas? We need more Jon and Jamie please!!
I love the magnetic stacking concept, it would be really useful if there was a pliers layer as sometimes you want to hold something with pliers while using a screwdriver or hex bit and this would enable that use case.
Interesting to see all the unique finds. Thanks for sharing that with us!
Welcome 👍
I once was on a long train ride and forgot my travel utensils. Had to improvise a spoon to eat my instant porridge, so I cut it out of the bottle, and secured with a zip tie in the middle. I think it worked better than the "Unitensil" 😂
Always very interesting because it is always a discovery !! A pleasure to watch !
Jon and Jamie,
Thank you for another interesting and entertaining EDC gear review video! Your "Pros & Cons" assessment and demos are really helpful in getting acquainted with newly released gear and whether the featured item would make a good addition to one's EDC gear. Cheers to you both!
Our pleasure! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Thank you for another interesting, informative and as well amusing video! I always enjoy watching both of you and finding some inspiring ideas.
Jonathan thank you for that interesting and informative video! I appreciate your reviews and insight as well as your humor! Keep them coming!! Cheers, Shannon
That seax folder looks really nice! It's like a three way lovechild of an sheffield Barlow, EKA swing blade/sword peasant and a seax! I love the way it looks♡
Wow, some really unique items. Loved this, thanks.
I like the idea of using magnets such as in the Tool Stack. By the way, thank you for introducing me to the Nano Clip by Smart Key in a previous video. The Nano Clip secures my Leatherman Micra nicely in the fifth pocket.
It does work well 👍 thanks for the feedback.
Omg… so fun, loved the kitchen and smoke test. Those utensils were such a joke… why someone actually testing is much better than a chit chat about purported abilities.
I have the GeeKey… along with the bowl the sharp package edge and file are both a joke. I’ve used the wrench twice while traveling and it came in clutch… it also got through security internationally and domestically about 6x with no fuss.
Side note, instead of that silly magnetic multitool, the obvious alternative would be to just carry the sleeker streamlined Compact… a top 3 favorite of mine, thanks to you. 😄
The Windeler - things with strong magnets in my pocket tend to gather all sorts of small metal debris or latch onto anything that's metal that's near me or in my pockets. It tends to become a PITA when you go to get something out your pocket, like keys, and you get a bunch of other items that have all latched together because of the magnet.
I used to think magnets on EDC items was a good idea, until I started losing flashlights to chairs and metal doors. Now I try to avoid magnets on my EDC.
Good point!
I actually have the folding spoon/fork, and have used it a couple times on trips (never for soup though). It was great for mac & cheese, cereal, yogurt, etc. I wouldn't want to use it every day, but considering it weighs practically nothing, costs practically nothing, and and takes up practically no space, it's definitely worth it for me to throw in a travel pack to use in a pinch.
Thanks for the great reviews!
😂 you’re simply the best, better than all the rest Jonathan !
Love your channel ❤
Thank you for the combination of technical detail and humour
Great video and funny too!!
I was wondering where he was and then he popped out! Such fun videos. I have the larger Glow Rhino and it works great. One on my keys, one on my bag of quick go bag. I had looked at the Wuben before, but it just seemed like too much going on and I hate micro-USB and the ink was ridiculous.
Thanks for the feedback, I agree with your thoughts on Wuben!
I got the Windeler on KS and agree that having many tools would quickly make for an unwieldy EDC. However the tools are superbly crafted, the knife almost flawless in execution and I love anything with magnets so it ticked all the boxes.
If you’re eating something, like those noodles, that comes with a foil cover, you can improvise a spoon with the foil. Not a perfect spoon, but one that works at least as well as that flat fork/spoon combo.
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info and links 👍
Great video. Had me chuckling 🤭 thanks 😊
5:20 When I forgot my fork, I just plucked two thin and preferably dry branches and was eating with them as chopsticks. Which is probably where chopsticks come from...
Thanks for a great round up Jon and Jamie.
I can't remember the last time I had the tighten a Phillips head screw, with Pozi being so ubiquitous in the UK now. When will companies pick up on this, especially for their products aimed at the European market.
A spork for instant noodle soup is as effective as a foldable knife for a yoghurt.
Excellent and entertaining video!
Lol good video, love the field tests of the spork 🤣
First time (American) viewer and it’s insane to me that you can’t legally carry a locking knife in your country.
Some very cool stuff!
Loved that subtle humor (humour in this case) at 18:48. A bespoke bike tool... nice one.
er....that must have been very subtle!
@@JonGadget Be "spoke" bike tool...
If the glass breaker is carbide, you don't have to generate force. Just a gentle tap or push will break a window. I tested mine and it works very well.
This was a fun video, thanks chaps :)
Definitely some unusual products, appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate how some of them work (or don’t).
Glass breakers seem to be the new accessory that all tools must have, similar to bottle openers a few years ago.
Who's breaking glass that much?
@@aaronwatkins8973 IKR? Nobody's even stealing radios these days. It's all about those catalytic converters now.
Great video as always. Have a nice weekend guys 👍🏻
Thanks and you too.
Finally a new video from John. Keep it up !
Thanks 😊
I always make a point of swiping those McDonalds straws for their carefully calibrated thickshake diameter, which the Kabar doesn't have 😁
Yes!
Very cool, loved this video.
Great to hear
Hey Jon 👊
I saw this mini 'grenade' with an explosive 💥 price a few weeks ago and decided it just didn't give me enough value, to justify it.
However, you've presented & both 'tested' some interesting products... 😉
Thanks for sharing guys.
Atb Gus 👍
I figured the grenade on a lanyard would bust a head wide open.
Thank you
Thanks for your honesty on these (mostly forgettable) EDC items......
Wow your vlog is spectacular and entertaining.
Keep up the excellent work.
Take care from Montreal, Quebec 😊
Absolute best spinning top you can find is a read head from an old VCR.
They need to spin at 1000 rpm plus & maintain a consistent rpm so they are balanced & have some nice mass.
I don't know if this is going to work but I think you can actually tilt the cup to finish off the remaining milk shake using the Ka-Bar Spoon/Straw.
The spark fob is great, but I really wish they'd remove that glass breaker tip. It seems like it'd poke a hole in your pocket.
They don't.
I think it would be OK
I think the K-bar spoon would be better suited for a bowl of cereal to drink up the milk at the end. 🥣 I’ll have to buy one just to annoy my wife!😂
You’re face with the potapeuk 😂
😬
The scales on that last knife are nice, I didn’t know olive wood was that pretty.
9:49 The Ka-Bar Spork is a great bit of kit and has many uses.
Interesting items and presentation was great. I can't imagine wanting any of them, especially for the prices, except for the light.
I've shopped on raven forge for years and spent thousands!! Well worth it!!
A lot of things I bought and a couple from this list that you mentioned and have made things so much better surprisingly 😂especially for the military especially the glow rhino it’s actually pretty convenient!
The McDonald’s milkshake 😂😂😂😂
Can you do a whole video on UK MADE EDC? love the videos!
I love ravens forge. Their seconds sales are excellent- my blade was 15 pounds before shipping with a pouch!
I had the Wuben pen and it broke in under a month. Tried to contact them but they didn’t give a toss. So many of these Chinese companies have very poor customer service
are glassbreakers the new bottle opener? 😂
Only worse I think. Bottle openers can be quite practical for some of my non German friends, but glass breakers you will realistically only ever need in your car, if you are worried about that, attach one to your door, easier to grab and it's an actual glass breaker, not a spork knife combo with flashlight glass breaker and bottle opener that also wipes your ass.
Great video, as usual.
Thank you 👍
lol!!! that forkspoon!!
Great as always! Not just the detailed information, but the entertainment value is always high on your videos as well! I bet all of these items would fit easily in Linus's sack. . . 😀
That little Windeler stak... you could have it set with some kid of adaptop to add keys to the stak !
LOL, $90 - $100 for that little Eggie thing - no way. Seems pretty useless to me. (Update: And couldn't you get something(s), for less money that do the same thing and probably do it better? You're not going to get much torque out of that little egg shaped thing. Or just use the $100 to buy groceries, lol.
Yes, niche and pricey that one
I agree that it's pricey. I'm not sure how a screwdriver with an added small blade is useless though. I suppose if you never need a screwdriver or knife then you could argue that. Quite the stretch though!
This would make more sense if they offered at least an optional Phillips head screwdriver to replace either the glass breaker or knife blade (which would be TSA illegal).
@@KansaSCaymanS right, and why so many torx? Seems like they had a specific audience in mind.
@@lf2334 Who doesn't EDC a knife?
I love that meat cleaver knife! I’m a fan of brass and the whole aesthetic is top notch.
I would love to see your take on edc pry bars and maybe a review of the better ones in different price ranges?
good to see some demo's Just like the Raven knife, which seems real VFM
“Indestructible casing”
*hydraulic press*
“CHALLENGE ACCEPTED”
I'm with you 😁
Jamie well played with that terrible fork spoon card 👍
😁😁
I like videos like these. You see some interesting stuff.
I like the Wuben pen but not only its expansive, the shipping its very expansive also! I remember buying a few AirPress pens instead.
If you tilt the cup I believe you can sip out the last of the shake with the Spoon/straw
Did Jamie got back to smoking for the purpose of testing one feature of one product for one video? Now that's dedication!
Great stuff as usual, guys 😁Had me smiling throughout the video, and also some interesting gear!
Yep 🤣
It wasn't good at all, Jons testing the next one 🤣
OMG Jon you should do stand-up comedy. When you interacted with Jamie you slayed me!😂
Great stuff as normal thanks. The glass breaker can be used by placing tip on the glass and hit it with something. 👍🏼
I thought that too. But then I thought, if I'm going to try to hold a tiny glass-breaker against a piece of glass and then try to hit it with a hammer, why am I not just hitting the glass with the hammer? 😆
@@fredfinger7092 I was thinking more of hit it with my work laptop. 😂. Even my shoe at a push. Be good to see what would work. One of those things you hope you never need but so small it would be wrong not to have on your keys or in your pocket. Hmmm 🤔
I feel some testing coming on......😬
@@JonGadget and a new vid? Kind of put your money where your mouth is? 😂. I’ll watch with interest. Then they should pay you a dividend.
@@secondintime1118 I hear you... but I still think I'd just smack the glass with the corner of the computer in that scenario. Of course in actuality, I keep a small rescue tool in the car with a carbide tip (and I would bet you do as well)... that's the place I think I might ever need a glass breaker.
Watched a few of your videos previously, but just subscribed as I was reminded by the little character reminder, just thought I'd let you know that works :D
That Wuben pen/light could be vastly improved by switching to USB-C and losing that silly feature which rotates the pen and glass breaker. Doing so could allow both a bigger battery and a bigger ink refill.
The keyfob at 2:20, you can hold it against the glass and whack it with a shoe or something similar.
What caught my attention was the billetspin gambit coin because I'm currently using my benchmade 945 as a knife/fidget multitool. Have to say though, even as a benchmade enjoyer $75+ for the coin and $125+ for the body kind of hurts.
UK knife laws sound like a real treat.
“Well Clarice, Have The Lambs Stopped Screaming?”
Could you look into compact wallets that are bifold? I cant use only money clips because I handle cash frequently.
The blade on the key multi tool is a tin opener, you hook under tin seam and pierce with blade.
Thank you for testing the Fold It Flat Unitensil, so we don't have to. Lol!!!
😂 cup noodle scene
🥵
For me the best Leatherman has been the FUSE… small and light, but capable of anything…. I use one for more than 12 years , and i already have a replacement since they start to be difficult to find
HA! I always enjoy watching, and if I were in the UK I'd def be walking around with the 2" meat cleaver friction folder:) Laughing at the absurd laws and the fact that the credit card Victorinox blade is illegal:) JEEZ!
It's moments like that when I say to myself as an American, it could always be worse I guess:) HA!
The Windeler actually looks pretty good and so does the Geekey. I'm not so sure about those spoon things though, loooool
"oh good" best reaction to a pot noodle ever
Haha the pipe is certainly not intended to smoke tobacco in it 😂
Crazy!
I very much enjoy your videos but most of the things you present is beyond the reach of any normal worker. Would be nice to see reviews of things everyone can buy. All the best from Gestur from Sweden.
Thanks for the feedback, we do have an affordable Amazon EDC coming up in a couple of weeks and will take your comment on board.
@@JonGadget I'll be looking forward to that!
Love the Raven Forge Seax. Beautiful piece!
Jamie will be happy 👍
The Geekey can also be used as a straw to drink a tiny bowl amount of milkshake.
As for the key thing, definitely not for pipe tobacco.
ANother great video. I think I like the JOn and Jamie show. More please..... LOved the Seax knife. Do you think the Eggie knife is UK legal? I am guessing not..
