Hi Jon, just some feedback for the edit. When you're doing these sorts of lists it would be really helpful to put the product make/name/model back up on the screen as an overlay again for the last 5 seconds of the end of the segment before you move onto the next. It saves us rewinding once you've sold us on yet another handy item :)
Finally, useful stuff that make things easier. Seriously lots of this stuff are necessary and not just trash. Tools can make a difference in so many cases
Tip for travelling with soap and shampoo bars…if you are not going long and want to reduce weight and size, cut the bar down to either a thinner or smaller size.
The lightning port on the incharge cable also doubles as a micro USB. It blew my mind the first time I tried it. Didn't think it'd slide in much less actually work but as advertised it works.
First of all, the H Q D U P S materials used in this replica are top-notch. The leather feels soft and luxurious, just like the real thing. The stitching is impeccable, no loose or uneven lines. The hardware, including the signature CC twist-lock closure, is sturdy and well-made, adding to the overall elegance of the bag.
I was homeless for a time, years ago , and ya EDC equipment was absolutely essential...funny now it's become a fad, me now I live in a home, have a years supply of food, plenty of mercury dimes for SHTF, and still EDC, plent of items, caribener clips are absolutely essential along with a good pocket knife, a chain wallet is extremely underrated, also flashlights are a must, also wear a silver necklace or bracelet...if your ever in a jam you can trade it for a few gallons of gas or a meal or something...be safe and GL!
A simple carabiner with a loop of string or rope works just as well as that hero-clip, just needs some improvising and preparation but that's exactly the way I'd like to roll.
hahaha, I love random serendipity. I am sitting here watching youtube while working on something and have a Clear-body Tombow Airpress in my hand just clicking away while I fidget-think. Look over at the video and there is the Airpress! That made my brain skip a beat.
I have the S-biner for holding an Olight 1R2 torch and the smallest Swiss Army Knife on my key ring - ideal for unlocking and unclipping them if I need to use them away from the keys! 👍
Maybe it’s just me not paying enough attention to the lower thirds but I’m constantly skipping back to find out the price of the items I’m interested in. I don’t think in future videos it would look out of place to repeat the lower third graphics with the name and prices at the end of each segment, it would have been handy for me as I was interested in pretty much all of it 😅 Thanks for the great video’s!
Well Jon that torch / flashlight is a little beauty. I won a few at a Trade Show & ended up ordering a few more. I added them to my keys & have used mine a few times. Very Robust & great quality.
Great list Jon. I’ve got a few of those bits already. Just on the Heroclip. My Dad went to Peru earlier this year and borrowed my Heroclip. Said it came in SO handy for hanging his backpack whilst on the Machu Picchi trail; keeping it off the wet floor etc. I’m surprised I got it back 😅
Another Amazon find is a flashlight with power bank functionality. The best I’ve seen so far is the Sofirn SP33S Powerful Torch 5000 Lumen but I’m really looking for a flashlight that uses the 18650 battery for a more compact solution. Thanks for the great videos
The Olight is the “i1R2 Pro”, which is the second generation of the “i1R2”, with the R designation in the name signifying that it’s rechargeable. Before the Pro and its predecessor, there was the original “i1R”. Don’t forget to include the lower case “i” at the start of the product name in order to identify it correctly.
The heroclip is great for commuting - I often have to stand on the train for 30+ mins and i can hook my bag to a handrail, keeping it off the ground. One of the best inventions!
Happy Thursday Jon & wishing all American readers on here a happy Thanksgiving. I buy a fair number of goods on Amazon because they reliable but usually are not competitive on prices
Mystery question of life: Why doesn’t every viewer check the like button? It takes no time at all. It’s free. And it is a little thank you for the creator of the video you just watched. I like every video I watch.
resQme tool - used it to actually break a double glazed window (long story!). Did both panes, one at once and worked a treat but must be plat against the glass. Have one on my car keys. In comparison to this, those 'life hammer' things suck. Everyone should have a ResQme. Cant say more than that.
thanks for this jon, lots of other channels tend to hyperfocus on very unique, bespoke pieces that are often very expensive for the average gadgeteer. keep on rockin!
I'd recommend getting the Victorinox Cadet instead of the Bantam. It has a second layer with the standard bottle opener and can opener, plus a nail file and a key ring. It's much more versatile. Another option is the Victorinox Signature Lite.
5:04 There's a locking version‽ I've used the non-locking version for a few years, but I have to use two in combination on my keys because of how easily they drop my keys.
Often seen your videos, got some very nice hints, and must confess, I ordered several things, also based on this one. I really love your explanations and very useful recommendations. Thanks a lot, please go on!
Fantastic list! Just bought a few of them as I go away to Canada this year. The matador soap cases aren't available now, but I've got two similar ones that will do the trick. Now you'll have to let us know what soap you use to shine your noggin, as I too live with a smooth dome.
Jon I believe this is your best list so far. Excellent selection great price and buying on black Friday just makes it even better! Enjoy your channel. Thank You
Unfortunately the new nu 25 is larger, heavier, and shorter range than the old one ☹️ the only improvements are USB c and the red light has a better lens. Medium spotlight mode is a little brighter than before too, that's nice. But they really screwed up with that primary flood. It's just not especially useful for a hiking/camping/backpacking light.
@@JonGadget oh, interesting! I have both as well. I don't necessarily hate the flood light or the extra weight, but I miss the high cri for reading maps at night and cooking. And I miss the low modes and compactness. And I'm not sure why they decided that locking and unlocking it ought to blind you now. 4 modes is also a lot to scroll through in a ui without mode memory. Kind of feels like they didn't realize a lot of the things that made the old one great. On the flip side, I'm loving the nu33. It's a bit larger though.
Totally agree. Also the buttons are now confusing, not simple like the original, one for white, one for red. Also, the bungee cords are unnecessarily substantial. I bought a few extra original NU25s and plan to do the litesmith bungee hack
@@anthonyng8800 Yeah, same. I found out that you can do the bungee hack with even less material and no cord lock by using 2 taut line hitches. Basically loop one long string through on both sides and the end comes back and ties to the main headband in a taut line hitch. I think I can cut even more bulk and weight that way.
You can also get travel sheets of soap depending on how much soap you need (I used to buy those when traveling in Asia as many bathrooms didn't have soap among other things).
As an American, I can never get used to Aluminium. It’s the British linguistic right-hand drive. No one else calls Aluminum that. Second on my list is Leftenant.
Very informative video (thanks), and I ordered the Osprey ultralight bag, which I’m delighted with - amazing how small it folds up, so very convenient for travel etc. I’ve since noticed there is a “Amazons Basics“ copycat alternative, which is slightly bigger and also includes a front pocket, for nearly 1/3 of the price, so I’ve ordered that as well and will compare when it arrives.
@@pognub6097 really pleased with it, I’ve used it a couple of times. Folded down it’s bigger than the one in the video (which I initially bought….and sent back) but the Amazon Basics is MUCH cheaper and has more features.
I love the Victorinox Bantam Alox, carry one for years now. I think it's really under-appreciated by the EDC folks. I'm actually gathering a micro urban EDC based on your videos and the Bantam will be the blade on that kit.
I like the bantams cousin the waiter. The corkscrew can hold a small screwdriver and helps with knots. I just got a bantam and will be putting in rotation soon
@10:33 *The answer is a ziploc bag. Hell, you could wrap the soap in the plastic shopping bag the cashier gave you with the soap if you just tie off the handles. You don't always need to buy your way out of every problem.*
Thank God for you - that carabiner clip that can let you hang a bag from a table is something I've been looking for - I think for years. Saw a girlie version for hangbags but (a) it had glittery bits and (b) would 100% snap under the weight of my laptop bag. I saw someone mention that idea in a personal security video years ago, he even went a step further in keeping his bag tied to his belt with a detachable cable and a super-strong paracord of some sort. I'm quite interested in doing this with a more subtle belt arrangement of having a clip under my belt and chords coming from that to attach torch and knife, perhaps a folio of other gear too. Those zip folders are ok but I find them too big and increase volume far too much (thinking suit pocket here). Have you ever come across a thin and more subtle design like a leather folding wallet design that is long and has say elasticised sections for holding gear inside? Also have you ever seen or used the Lamy Pico extending pen? I have used one for a decade and the main risk with it is register staff not wanting to give it back, they are all intrigued by it. I'd say it's roughly Fischer Space Pen length and click-extends to regular length; barrel thickness is akin to some mid-sized fountain pens (standard ballpen refill). Probably not as elegant as your thin one here but that is hard for some people to use with bigger fingers.
If anyone is having trouble viewing this there appears to be an issue the the standard definition render but 4K seems to be fine - we are trying to get this resolved 😬

That's what I do too! Plus I got a bar that is a combo soap and shampoo, so I only have the one.
The lightning port on the incharge cable also doubles as a micro USB. It blew my mind the first time I tried it. Didn't think it'd slide in much less actually work but as advertised it works.

the locking carabiner is also useful for the zipper on the sling bag. helps prevent pick pockets.

I find a regular "Parker" gel refill makes an excellent tiny pen for wallet or mini note book.
i wish more bags had bright material on the inside, makes finsing things so much easier. i have used bright colored duct tape to line small pouches.

Tomtoc sling looks nice but the strap is lesser length especially for people with big size body .
