I have two teenagers that are quite unable to grasp the link between leaving things switched on and my massive electricity bills , so I have installed smart sockets to a lot of places in my house. I can now turn them off from my phone. I'm hoping this will save money long term. Also I too am a Yorkshire man and tighter than two costs of paint😅 good videos mate keep coming.

Great vid buddy :) with my 4k Firestick I power it off (when I've finished using it) by switching off the power supply at the wall - together with the TV and anything else that I'm not using :) I think I'm a pseudo Yorkshireman ;)

I have the "developer options" but "deep sleep" is not an option after going into "developer options". My firestick was updated on 10/12/23 so it's current. Not sure where to find "Deep Sleep" on my firestick. Thanks for the video though.
No deep sleep option on my cube 2nd generation. I don't need it because I use Ever Ready remote control plugs, it was a 2 pack for about £14 if I remember rightly. Because TV's etc are fairly low power it's safe enough to use 4 way adapters and anything that I want to turn off fully overnight gets plugged into that. I keep my remote handy at the bottom of the stairs and one simple keypress turns off my TV, Cube, Firestick, Chromecast as well as my lighting 😊
p.s. Forgot to mention, I do put my cube to sleep before turning the power off.
I use a smart plug as well as pressing the "select" button and "forward" button simultaneously for about 5 seconds and it shuts the firestick down.

@free Tech will you please do a review of the Firestick app Free Plus - Live TV & Movies. The only 2 reviews on the apps main page says it was detected by the peoples antivirus but they are from 4 months ago.
I use Developer Options, Deep Sleep, then use my TV remote to shut my TV down.
When I want to use my Firestick I press the power button on my Firestick 4k Max remote which boots up my TV and turns the Firestick on.
Every few days I manually check for system updates and, if found, install them.
Still not got it on my cube. It would certainly make sense for the power button to switch it off. When I first got my firestick years ago I always thought that the power button turned it off, was I alone in thinking this?.
Don't have the deep Sleep option well as the Live TV Feature firestick is all up to date . ((Australia))

I just press and hold the blue button while saying "tv off" this switches the tv and firestick off.
I'm now wondering if it really does shut it all down or if it puts it into a sleep mode, either way everything goes off :)
Assuming updates are blocked (so new DEEP SLEEP no option) what's wrong with pressing SLEEP option then switching off plug at mains socket, again assuming the FS is not connected to a TV for 5v connection, or if the FS is not connected to usb socket within a mains socket?
I use a few smart plugs and have installed a smart double socket. My whole entertainment system down stairs are turned off and on by a Meross smart plug. My lounge lights are controlled by a BG smart double socket.
I unplugged my fire cubes because Amazon said they are using Amazon devices to improve their services inside and outside your home. I unplugged mine because in order for them to do that they have piggyback off my internet to improve their services to other people even outside my home. I pay for my internet and I'm not letting Amazon use my internet for their services for other people. I'm about to toss all fire sticks and cubes in the garbage. I'm not paying for my internet for Amazon to use and make money off of, to hell with them. If I find out Google is doing this they will be gone to. Great video like always 👍
Cheers for that mate, l didn't have the deep sleep option. I simply unplug everything, making sure no funny stuff happens in the background.
No deep sleep option,I have several Tapo plugs for Fire TV & lighting.
I'm in uk and I don't have deep sleep option and I looked for updates and my amazon 2nd Generation cube is up to date
I use the TV's 1A usb to power my FS 4K Max as well as using Tapo plugs controlled via their software or Google home speach to turn on and off.
NEVER USE THE USB TO POWER THE FIRETV STICK. . .USB does not provide enough power during software updates, and it will brick it.
@@jamedlock83 I've used the USB 1A port for over 4 years to power my Firestick 4k and now the 4k Max without issue even with updates. Yes if you use a 500ma USB port then it will not work successfully and the Firestick will either not work or report a low power warning.
My Firestick is up to date. The deep sleep option is still not available here in California, USA.

Mine is in a usb so hopefully when I turn me tv off it turns the FS off I only really turn it of from the mains once a week to clear it
I plug the power supply to the Firestick via a USB within the TV. When you power off the TV it also power off the Firestick. Easy

Went to developer options opened it all that's there is ADB debugging and install unknown apps no deep sleep checks for updates says up to date
I have an older version of the Fire stick, and I don't have this option.
I lthink deep sleep is a 4K max option. Gen 3 cube option.
I use either sleep mode or smart Plug.
One thing I’ve been trying to figure out is if there’s a way to either restart or power off fire stick away from home. Or even just kick it off the Internet. Without using a smart plug. 🤔
I have a vacation home and sometimes forget to turn off some apps so when I get to my other home I can’t use the app as it’s still running on a different IP address.

No deep throat option on the fire tv cube. I do have it on my fire tv max. I have wondered why the deep sleep Option isn’t in the cube. I’ve done many updates since and still nothing.

Hi my firestick has come on with a message saying could be corrupted and the remote won't work to let me select factory reset do you know if anyone else this has happened to and is there a way of fixing it thanks for any help
Mine is plugged into a separate socket.. it’s turned off when not in use

Yes, the only way I turn my firestick off is to turn it off by the wall every time so there's no power going to the firestick. Plus, if I am going away for more than a day, I will unplug all devices from the wall much safer that way .

I just switch to another input on my TV. Don't really care about deep sleep. As long as it comes on when i turn the power button on that's all that matters.

I don't suggest doing this because when you shut down the fire stick it will build ridiculous amounts of cash in the Amazon junk apps. Also your HDMI control gets reset.
More trouble than what it's worth in my opinion.
I use mine in a Motorhome and when not using TV/Firestick I turn the power off completely.
I never lost "developer options"
If you had already allowed unknown sources before the update came out to hide them, they didn't go away, but if you were to do a factory reset now you would have to go through the process unhide them.

A bit embarrassing this but I have never turned my fire stick off, I just go back to sky box and leave it. 😂
I use a remote switch for my firestick, sky box, etc. Saves me getting off me fat arse to switch off at the wall.
Smart plugs and Alexa will turn on/off on command.

This must be a European option. Not available on any of my 3 fire sticks or my fire TV. Bummer!! I always put my fire sticks to sleep before turning off my TV.
