Hi Tanya, link for the USB 1GB Ethernet adapter is n\a for Android, however, your advice is sound, buying an alternative from Amz. Faithful & very happy subscriber. ❤
Just a heads-up, I bought the Rankie adapter based on your recommendation, and I also got 5 more USB to Ethernet adapters, and the Rankie is considerably slower than at least three of the others I tested. The UGreen USB 3.0 Hub units got me up to 362 Mb/s over my Ethernet connection while attached to my 1.0gb switch, the Rankie only hit 318 mb/s on my system. I used the link you gave for the OTG cable and it works flawlessly; thanks for this useful and informative video! The UGreen adapters I used were off Amazon
Thank you so much Tanya! Always great to get updates. I use a mesh system as well with a direct connection, but I will now get the USB connector and the OTG. Thank you
Hello Tanya, as I mentioned, the Fire TV Cube has its own power cord with a round cord that goes into the back of the Fire TV Cube. The OTG adapter has it's own power supply end. So I connected an extra power supply cord to the OTG adapter & plugged it in directly into a power source. This seems to have resolved the issue.
That was a great explanation Tanya. I changed over to a wired connection a while back based on one of your other videos. The speed and consistency has been much better for me.
Girl, thank you!!!! I had the Amazon adapter connected for a couple of years now. I just saw your video and removed it but did not have to do the additional connections, and now im at 350mbs vs the 95mbs I was getting 😊😊
Nice! I was hard wired to my ethernet but getting less than 100 Mbps, couldn't figure out why when I had 3 times the speed on my 5G wifi. Upgraded my ethernet adapter after watching, so much faster - thank you!! Also I run a VPN (I use Nord) and it does *significantly* lower the download speed, so every little bit helps.
Additionally, just about all TV sets have only a 100 mb Ethernet adapter . The Sony range has a USB 3.0 port so u can bypass the Ethernet port with a Gigabit 3.0 USB adapter
Hi Tanya, thank you for the video and links, I purchased the products recommended and have attached to my Firestick. My speeds went from 48mbps to 200mbps, I was almost ready to quit Starlink, your video saved my frustration and thank you.

Hi Tanya,, your videos are very, VERY good! You make your explanations clear and understandable. So I've got both the Ethernet adapter and the OTG adapter lined up in my Amazon cart, and now I'm wondering which Ethernet cable do I buy? A CAT 6,, a CAT 8, or which do I need? I'll need one about 25 feet. Thanks, keep these very good videos coming!!
Thanks for your videos, Iv been using the otg adapter with a ethernet 3 port usb hub since I got one, but always have a look at ur content too see what's the bet results 😊
Great video, clear and concise. Unfortunately the Rankie USB to ethernet adapter is not available on Amazon Canada. Can you recommend an alternate device with the same reliability and specs. I have 1gb wifi service and usually get around 100mb download with my Amazon adapter. But once I turn on the VPN that download speed drops below 50mb. It would be great to get 3-400mb download speeds that would still top out around 200mb when the VPN is used. Looking forward to more videos.
I installed the recommended ethernet adapter from Cable Matters and using a cat5e ethernet cable, I’m getting over 300Mbps download, similar to what I get from wifi and considerably better that what I was getting from the Amazon adapter. Unfortunately, when I activate my Surfshark VPN, that download speed drops below 100mbps, also similar to what I get on my 1GB wifi service. Was hoping for 100++mbps when using the VPN. Working with Surfshark to figure it out, but so far not having any success. Thanks for the Cable Matters recommendation. It is a good improvement over the Amazon product.
Thank you so much for this!! I just had a new broadband installed and was baffling me about the Firestick's not getting the full speed, I called my internet provider and they were saying how they should be faster so obviously they're not aware of this either (I sent them photos when they asked me about the setup on it and they said that wasn't right anyway, however at least one less job here knowing speed isn't an issue). Really would help if the Firestick told you this while doing a test as I'm sure lots of people are baffled as well, not realising the adapters and firesticks in general cap the speed. Thank you so much, I really appreciate this video and it's really helped ❤️🙏🏼
Hello, I had those adapters and didn’t know what to do with them, was getting57Mmps before, hooked up the adapters and my speed is now 324Mps. Thank you.😊
I have that adapter that came with the firesticks too! I put it into the HDMI port on the TV and then plugged the firestick into the adapter because my modem and router are further away in an office. It has done nothing as far as speeding up the firestick. I have a VPN on too. I just think these internet providers have become "wise".
Tanya I continue to be educated by your videos. Thank you! Love the t-shirt! Have you ever added any bloopers to your videos? I love some comedy too! Keep the great content coming!
I'm going to be using a TP link as my router is not in the same room as my TV/Firestick. So using the ethernet adaptor for my firestick and TP link set up, should I use a Cat 6 or Cat 6a ethernet cable?
Just recently got a firestick & looking to upgrade its speed after getting full fibre. One further question for you - is there a specific spec of Ethernet cable you need to buy (link pls if possible)
Now what would be the configuration and what wiring adapters are needed if you want a wired connection at the same time have a 128gb flash drive configured as internal storage of the firestick?
This is perfect timing Tanya. I've just signed up to full fibre broadband and was thinking of hardwiring via ethernet cable. Invaluable information about the high speed ethernet adapter add-on you've shown here. I was also looking into ethernet cable speeds and one of the best is cat 8e (speeds up to 25-40 gig) although cat 5e (most common) is good for speeds up to 1gig. I've now also saved this video in my firesticks folder. Great work yet again Tanya 🤩🤩🤩👍👍🎉🎉🎯
Hi, I tried it, got the kit from your links but the firestick wouldn’t open, it just cycled through the logo, I then went back to the original cables, worked fine, tried again, same failure, guess it’s not for me but it looked good, I’m 55mbps but when I turn off the vpn it’s 230 so it’s probably okay, thanks, Rob.
I have tried all kinds of stuff and adapters to get high speeds and the max I have ever gotten is about 56.87 mbps on a fiber connection wired while my iPhone 13 Pro Max can get 280mbps a foot away on WiFi. My internet company came and tested my lines and told me the Firestick is running at max speed that it is capable off. I have the 4K latest stick and it has never gone above 56.87mbps wired or WiFi.

ive got an issue. i have my 1gb router in my bedroom, and have a family member moving in, i want to put my previous 1080p tv in the spare room (next to my room) with an extra firestick in it. how would you get the best and fastest speeds out of the firestick with this situation.
First do a speed test to check what speeds the Firestick in your spare bedroom can reach. If you're not sure how, this post on my website will help: firetvsticks.com/how-to-run-a-speed-test-on-firestick/. If you are not getting adequate speeds for streaming (10MB+) then this might help: ua-cam.com/video/ePk7WseiSQ8/v-deo.html.
The Fire Cube 3rd gen has a usb 2.0 port, can I connect can I connect this type of ethernet connection directly, will I still get up to 480 mps download? Same applies to a usb 3.0 hub with gigabyte ethernet. Does the USB 2.0 port on the firecube provide enough power for hub with gigabyte ethernet
I have my Ethernet Cat5 connected to the back of my Nvidia Shield. Do I remove it and plug it into the USB Internet Adapter? My mistake, this is for the Firestick. I'll have to run the Ethernet wire from the bedroom to the living room. The Firestick is in the Living room.
I have two 4k firesticks in the house on 500mb vodafone broadband I've 270mb speeds the one furthest away from route but my personal one right by the router has only 50mb am I missing something they're both on 5ghz setting 🤷🏼♂️
Hi, I'm still buffering with Ethernet connection. I bought a G7 max android box and it was still buffering. I have the same set up for the hard wired fire stick tv also. I have the 2nd gen stick, with 5gb storage still available because I reset it and only added 1 3rd party app. Still buffering tho. I have 150 fibre with sky but I'm changing in 2 weeks to 500 with Vodafone because since I've added this from sky its been nothing but bother. Any advice would be greatly appreciated Many thanks Ian.
Hopefully, you will notice an improvement when you change your ISP. However, Sky is known for blocking certain streaming content, which could be causing your buffering issues. @@FireTVSticks thanks for replying, not sure if you would have any idea why my LG Nano cell tv picked up it was hard wired for a second then switched to wireless and wouldn’t show up again would you? The OTG Adapter works fine upstairs but just seems to work for a second then disappears downstairs. It not the Ethernet as I have tried two different ones. Also tried different HDMI ports.
Just reading about the Rankie adapter, looks great but at the bottom it says" Does not support Windows RT or Android" So will this work with the Firestick as that runs Android?
Hi Tanya I've use the adapter and the otg cable on my tv but for some reason there is no Internet connection on the fire stick any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Question, I get around 200 mbps on wifi but still get occasional buffering. Going to 100 with a direct connection, although slower it should solve the buffering because it’s more stable…correct?

Hi, I followed your video on how to add a USB memory stick and added the extra cables to my firestick. So do I now only need a split USB connector? By the way GREAT SITE..
Hi. I am an avid fan, love you 😏, your channel and all your advice. I purchased an otg cable and currently have a usb drive connected for additional memory and use wifi. My question is...The otg cable is usb 2.0 which maxs out at 480mb. Do you know of any otg cable that is usb 3.0 so i can get the full speed of my network and a gigabit network adapter i can use but has a usb port so i can continue using my sd card as external memory? Thanks in advance for your response. 👍
I have my 4k max connected to my tv with a gigabit ethernet adapter. When I do a network speed test I get the following results. 275mbps then when I connect my VPN I get an average download speed of 75mbps. I know that is more than enough to stream 4k, but why is there such a massive difference? When I do the same tests on my pc the speed only drops from 315mbps to 305mbps with vpn.
Hi,its not feasible to bring my router from my basement. Can l split the ethernet from the wall into my cable box to speed up the firestick speed?Or would that affect my tv?Thanks!
Thanks for the quick reply.I had my internet provider check out my speed probs.Old copper cable was the prob.Said l should go to fibre.Almost the same price as dsl.But shoots up in price after 2 years.@@FireTVSticks

Excellent... thank you sooooo much Tanya. You've helped me big time.
ive got an issue. i have my 1gb router in my bedroom, and have a family member moving in, i want to put my previous 1080p tv in the spare room (next to my room) with an extra firestick in it. how would you get the best and fastest speeds out of the firestick with this situation.
Thank you for the helpful info Tanya.
I'm not sure, I'll take a look.
Thank you, Tanya!
Such valuable information!
Btw, you look fabulous, as usual!
Peace and Love to you!

Damn, i really need to read what im buying 😂, didn't know the official Ethernet adapter was capped.
I have two 4k firesticks in the house on 500mb vodafone broadband I've 270mb speeds the one furthest away from route but my personal one right by the router has only 50mb am I missing something they're both on 5ghz setting 🤷🏼♂️
There could be something interfering with the Wi-Fi signal to the Firestick that's closest to the router.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks
Ian.
Hopefully, you will notice an improvement when you change your ISP. However, Sky is known for blocking certain streaming content, which could be causing your buffering issues. Consider using a VPN for streaming.

Does a 2.1 HDMI help or does the speed not get throttled ? It’s a new LG Oled ?
Typically not. HDMI is merely a conduit for transmitting digital audio and video signals.
Great thing while it work for a week, now back to how it was...back to looking on a fix again.
If your speeds have dropped after a week, I might not be the fault of the adapter. It could be your ISP throttling?
Great video thank you!
My pleasure!
Would you be able to tell me or show me how to creat kodi builds so I can watch poverty, movies ect if you have a link on how to do this please
Sure, I have detailed tutorials on my website firetvsticks.com 👍
Just reading about the Rankie adapter, looks great but at the bottom it says" Does not support Windows RT or Android" So will this work with the Firestick as that runs Android?
The Rankie adapter is what I used in this video and the speed test results shown are the results I got using the Rankie adapter. It worked for me!
Does it work with the cube?
Yes
Thank you much Tanya!
Hi Tanya I've use the adapter and the otg cable on my tv but for some reason there is no Internet connection on the fire stick any help would be really appreciated. Thanks
Are you plugging the ethernet into your TV or the Firestick? It needs to be connected to your Firestick as shown in the video.
My fire stick doesn't show the 5.g option. How does I adjust the router to give that option .I don't have fibre . Would it make much difference
You need to log into your router settings. Please refer to your manufacturer's instructions to do this.
Hi does this work on fire cube to
Yes
Thank you for this video. Are the speeds only increased when connected to fast fibre ? I don't have fast fibre and my usual speed is around 52 Mbps.
What speeds are you paying for?
@@FireTVSticks Thank you for replying, I'm getting what I pay for but just wondered whether a few more Mbps is achievable.
Question, I get around 200 mbps on wifi but still get occasional buffering. Going to 100 with a direct connection, although slower it should solve the buffering because it’s more stable…correct?
Correct. However, buffering can occur for other reasons that can be fixed with these tips: Fix Firestick BUFFERING With 5 SIMPLE Tips 2023 UPDATE - ua-cam.com/video/sfGCCpBLEn8/v-deo.html.

The Firestick's micro-USB port is 2.0, meaning the maximum speed you can achieve on a hardwired Firestick is 480 Mbps.
if Firestick is running on direct plug ethernet, does it make sense or can you even change the DNS ? Thanks
I'm not sure, sorry.
Perhaps the tips in this video will help with your VPN speed on your Firestick - ua-cam.com/video/znKjgIdaJEo/v-deo.html.
Hi,its not feasible to bring my router from my basement. Can l split the ethernet from the wall into my cable box to speed up the firestick speed?Or would that affect my tv?Thanks!
Actually its not an ethernet connection, more like a phone line(LAN)? connection.
You would need something like the solution shown in this video: ua-cam.com/video/hLjuvmZV9bU/v-deo.html.
Thanks for the quick reply.I had my internet provider check out my speed probs.Old copper cable was the prob.Said l should go to fibre.Almost the same price as dsl.But shoots up in price after 2 years.@@FireTVSticks
Can this be done on a FireStick that you added storage to?
Yes. Please refer to this video:

Tanya, hello! Thank you for the information! I have a question. My Pluto App use to work just fine, but now it is slow and barely works. I did hardwire my firestick through ethernet, but I'm still having problems with Pluto. Have they updated the app perhaps?
Are you running it off external storage by any chance? If so, move it back to the internal to see if it runs better.
Also, have you cleared the cache?
Outstanding. Thank you 🙏🏻
Just bought both the adapter and lead.
I learn something new everyday thanks
Purchased the Ethernet port and OTG micro but I can't find any way to set up wired settings on my fire stick!!! Been on network etc no option for wired setting! Hoping it would just connect automatically! I can set up my TV easy! HELP please

Omg I missed you beautiful. Hope you are doing well. I have a question, lately my 4k Max has been doing updates every other day so is this normal?
Yes, there have been a lot of updates recently. I'm not sure what they are though sorry!
@@FireTVSticks thanks
Thank you. Friends do not believe wired connections are still useful, blaming my age as "tha'ts the way they did it in the 1980's boomer" Yes, but as Scotty of Star Trek (the origina series sayd) "I can't be changin the laws of physics. " Wired RJ45, thunderbolt or new USB C gen 2 are faster than multi access WiFi (particually during the holidays with famiy and guests all using cell phones/mobiles , laptops, ipads, etc)
Basic videos are still really helpful. I just hope my family and friends listen to you.
I agree ..i hard wired mine over year ago.. Hardwire is always better ...
Hi there I can use these firestick item's on fiber 1........

@@FireTVSticks cheers have a good unn .....
