      He was a beast but is similar to Jerry Reed. Mostly known as a down home comedic country boy from hew haw just as Jerry was a redneck truck driver from the south (Smokey and the Bandit). Both unassuming and not flashy but when you dig deeper you'll find that they were 2 of the most talented players to ever pick up the instrument.

      The big three for country finger-pickers to dive into deep are Merle Travis, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed. Sure, there are many others, but learn how those three operated, and you are a long way towards being a real finger-picking guitar man! Or "CGP" as Chet said: "Certified Guitar Player".... he had a dry wit, that guy.

    • @GeorgiaBoy1961
      @GeorgiaBoy1961 10 місяців тому +3

      Glen Campbell was the real deal, oh yeah, and then some. He was asked to join the Beachboys and turned them down. He was a key member of the famous session group "The Wrecking Crew" based out of LA in the 1960s who played behind everyone from the latest top-ten hit makers to Frank Sinatra. And he carved out his own great career as a songwriter, singer and bandleader, too. Great all-round entertainer.... so great that some folks needed reminding of just how heavy of a guitar cat he was! If there's one thing I wish about Glen C., it is that I wish he'd stepped out even more on his axe - because that guy could absolutely wail. I don't know if he was worried about losing his radio airplay or what, but he could have played even more guitar than he did.

    There are less known guitarists in the rock fusion world that can play truly complex patterns and more developed phrasing, yet have groove and musical ideas, who were extremely influential with every single shredder out there.. here are some that would be interesting for you to consider:
