    Thank you for this video, it was really helpful! About the annotations, you can actually enable an option to show the names of annotators. I've found that particularly helpful.

    I am going to be teaching on Zoom in two weeks' time. The more I learn about the process of using it, the more I worry. My special needs students will be VERY confused by it! Thank you for the video. It's full of good ideas.

    Terrific tutorial, Amanda! Your verbal communication skills are perfect. And your video editing is crisp and very professional. Most important: your information content is perfect !! I’ll refer your channel to my teacher community.

    Love your videos!! Could you make one on your typical lesson on zoom like what your agenda is? I feel like I either talk too much or give them too much work.

      Haha my school has decided on 90 minutes blocks for core classes. my first 30 min is synchronous instruction. I will use Padlet for DoNows and have kids answer a question on that platform, have a discussion and begin instruction. The last 60 min I am planning to switch off with groups or independent work. I am still working out A LOT but my plan is to model a lot of what I want them to do, write instructions/ directions and ask everyone to just mute themselves and work independently so if they have a question they can reach me right then and there. I also plan on logging off and having everyone sign up for 1-on-1s during the asynch time. It's still a huge work in progress. I don't start teaching for another 2 weeks. I have some time to still think it through

    It's been hard for everyone, 5 months already in remote classes, I'm mentally tired but thank you for your valuable and sweet tips. I asked you in some older video what's the actual curriculum followed in for History classes there in US. I know it may sound weird but Im very curious about what exactly is taught in History there once we all know curriculums change a lot depending on the Country...could you please send me a link where I could read about it? Thank you.

    • @amandaros3
      @amandaros3  4 роки тому

      Hey! Thanks for commenting and wow 5 months already!. Your question is actually hard to answer because it is different based on the state you live in. I just realized this recently, but a lot of curriculum is regional and some may add a lot of events that are relevant to that area. So although the major events are taught, depending on the state will determine which groups of people and events are focused on more.

      @@amandaros3 Thank you for answer 😘 Yes, Im already 5 months working in these remote classes. Our school began remote classes in late March and we're teaching remotely since then...it's been interesting for one side but horrible in the other side too. Hopefully, in Mid September quarantine here in Sao Paulo Brazil is scheduled to finish but we're not sure yet. Now regarding curriculums, indeed this is something that make me really curious, of course there are regional subjects relevant to each state and country but in Brazil there's a national law that defines a base for the entire Country so it doesnt matter If I'm in Rio de Janeiro or in Sao Paulo or somewhere else, we must follow a base curriculum. I wish I could watch a class in US one day in order to understand what are the methods because it sounds too misterious for us here down South of the continent. Thank you.

    I teach a basic web development and IT course. A lot of our topics are kind of dry and boring, but necessary for later awesomeness. I try to show potential use cases, but often they are not immediately apparent and cannot be so without knowledge of following lessons and vice-versa. A chicken-egg problem, if you will. How do you approach such topics, if there are any that you teach?
    Another challenge I face: I have a very diverse set of students. Some already know everything and some don't even know the bare minimum. How do you keep over performers from just dragging the under performers with them when you let your students collaborate?

    I'm an english teacher from Brazil, and these past months have been crazy here! We've been remote teaching and it's really hard to get students to interact, it's a whole difference thing, and i'm missing my classroom more than I thought I would. But we've got to wait, due to what's happening in our country. It's nice to hear from other teachers, these tips will help me a lot! I love your videos!!! Thanks for sharing your work, I hope you're doing great!

    Dito on the students scribbling on the screen. The first few weeks of remote learning was a mad house!! Students kept on drawing naughty things or completely blacking out the screen. It was a mess until we then changed to google meet. Thanks for this!

      I teach an IT class and I'm kinda bummed out that our staff managed to prevent this from happening. It would have been a great lesson in IT security to have students notice the importance of properly tested security measures firsthand. How are you holding up?

    How about being able to see all the kids without them seeing each other because it's very distracting and sometimes they're embarrassed in a real problem in my daughter's school is that the teachers don't encourage them to have the cameras on so they could do whatever they want and not even pay attention that's a really affecting my daughter so I think the school no matter what should have the kids have their cameras on mandatory but find a way where they could not see each other only the teachers and only that you can see them

    Great tips, thank you! Also I love Padlet. :) I use it for creative projects. I'm a student teacher this year so haven't used it in the classroom yet, but I love the idea of using it as a bulletin board of resources/links for students, as a place to share student work and updates with parents, and as a place where students can collaborate on the fly like you mentioned!
