Nice video. I have a 2020 MY and thank goodness, Tesla insurance. I had it one year when the whole right side was wrecked on the highway. My car suffered over $30,000.00 worth of damage. The driver at fault hit 3 cars and had about $5000.00 worth of insurance. Apparently that is legal in California. Tesla insurance paid for all of my repairs, etc. and it and even reimbursed my deductible. Still not sure why they did that, but they did. It took 6 months to get it fixed. And, I can tell you without a doubt, if we had not been in that Tesla, I wouldn't be alive to worry about any of that. Any other car in my accident would have rolled (and probably caught fire or landed in oncoming traffic). Luckily with the weight of the battery providing stability, I was able to get my car under control in the median of the highway. People want to hate and like you say, it makes better click bait to feed in to that. Personally, I love my Tesla and my Tesla insurance.
I’m glad you made it through that experience safely. As more Teslas hit the roads, hopefully it’s safer for everyone. Also, I wish I could get Tesla insurance, but it’s not currently offered in my home state.
I agree the media does mislead people about EV's. As a Tesla owner myself, people love to tell me all the bad things about EV's. I don't really even try to defend it anymore. 24k miles and zero problems. I also have a NEMA 14/50 level 2 charger in my garage so I don't need to depend on public charging. (which can be more challenging for EV owners.) ( As you mentioned ) auto insurance premiums do vary greatly depending on age and location. Thank you for making this video Brian. Keep up the hard work.
I appreciate your support! As more people test out Teslas, they’ll make the switch. I hope to keep sharing my adventures and what I learn along the way.
Nice video Brian. You basically sold me on the Teslas last winter by demonstrating its capabilities particularly car camping in cold weather there in SD. I bought a 23 MY back in March and I have loved it ever since. I’ve driven back and forth from TX to NE several times now and car performed flawlessly every time and I never have to set foot in a hotel again.
Great video! I've owned many Honda accords in the past and I have a 2016 Honda Accord ex right now. The family needed another car so I was going to buy the new accord but then did the math and the model Y would cost almost the same amount as the new full loaded Accord Touring. So I got the My 2023 Model Y Performance instead. It's been the greatest car I've owned. I rent an apartment so I supercharge once a week and it's still the best car I've owned. They're just so much fun to drive and super comfortable. I also inspired my cousin and he bought two model Y's recently.
I enjoyed your video. I'm still enjoying my 2023 Tesla Model Y LR (Austin-built!). I've driven it on many long distance road trips each over 1,000 mi (longest was from Dallas to Yellowstone, WY last summer). The car works great and would buy another one.
I would agree with everything. The only concern with a battery issue that could turn bad is if the battery casing gets punctured. The likelihood of that happening is so minimal. Awesome video. Keep up the great work!
Thanks and yep that’s a risk. Hopefully battery size (energy density) continues to improve. Or maybe solid state batteries become an option. Could reduce some risk.
Nice one, Brian, exposing the FUD. Of course there is a lot of big legacy auto money behind this FUD, especially companies like Toyota with its leader Mr Toyoda, a man determined to stop the move to EVs. The biggest risk of fire is in hybrids, where you are mixing ICE and batteries. Then comes ICE, and EVs a distant third (and becoming more and more distant as battery tech improves). I'm buying my new Model Y (Juniper version) later this year 👍👍
Thanks! I saw hybrid safety stats when researching for this video. I wasn’t too surprised. And an early congrats on the Model Y! It should come with some great hardware upgrades! Maybe a lower price later in the year as well.
Thanks for following along! I’ve been in South Dakota for close to four months. After more than a year off work, I need to start again. But I hope to keep sharing videos.
True all around. My mother just told me how her MY saw someone speeding through a red light when she didn't and stopped the car, preventing a broadside collision. My MYP is by far the best car I've ever owned.
Thanks for the good FUD busting video. I bought a Model Y LR a couple years ago. Best vehicle I've ever owned, even better in the winter than my Subaru Forester.
I used to drive a 2007 1.4L diesel Yaris to and from work. Fairly efficient small diesel car. with the electricity prices I am getting at work and at home, I and using somewhere between 25% and 33% of the money on commuting Taxes on diesel cars here in Denmark are insane as well. So I am saving, excluding any non-commuting driving I'll be doing, roughly 3800 USD per year in running costs. with a model 3, that is.
Yes, the majority do not fact-check. And then there is clickbait for warped reality titles. Reality: EV fires stats: 0.0012% only, lower than combustion engines.
I saw a breakdown for the drag race! Good to be able to separate companies and products from people. Let the best products and services win. Good investing approach as well.

Thanks! Great to hear your Model Y has worked out well. The flexibility with Tesla car camping is a great way to travel.
@briankehm When are you going to become an ambassador? :)

Thanks and similar to my switch. I had a 2008 Honda Accord before buying my Tesla MY. It was a huge upgrade that’s worked out well.
Do you carry a spare tire on long road trips?
Nope, I haven’t carried a spare the entire time. But I do have roadside assistance. Luckily, I haven’t had to use it yet
Road assistance in the middle of nowhere in the mountains without cellular coverage. Good luck

Thanks for following along! Teslas are great for adventures. I’m glad to hear your long road trips have gone well too.
Well said. Agreed. Can’t wait for mine to arrive.
Thanks and congrats on ordering your Tesla.
Glad to see you back.
Thanks! It’s good to be back and I hope to share more soon.
Best car purchase I’ve ever made.

Great safety features with Tesla and it should continue to improve
@@BrianKehm when ya coming down to the Gulf coast?
@@DblOSmith I’m hoping to be that way later this year for a house warming
You're right on, Brian. My Y is great and I am hoping, for the long run, this vehicle will be cost effective. We''ll see. Good luck to you!!
Thanks and hopefully our Model Ys last a long time! So far so good!
The EV fires are difficult to extinguish so it will get more attention. Battery chemistry needs more work.
Yep, hopefully solid state batteries become an option or other innovations.
Thanks for the good FUD busting video. I bought a Model Y LR a couple years ago. Best vehicle I've ever owned, even better in the winter than my Subaru Forester.
We’ll keep seeing more Teslas on the road. Great cars and the cost should continue to come down.
Good job!
Thanks!
didnt thier stock price drop last week by 10%
The drop is a reaction to its quarterly earnings release. But playing the stock market in the short-term is worse than a zero sum game.

I very much dislike Elon Musk, and I am miffed about them fudging facts with the cyber truck (the drag race.) But I still want a M Y long range.

Use 1.5X speed. It’s annoying
EV's SUCK!!!!!
Why’s that?
