I was not an EV fan until my daughter got a Tesla. That thing is amazing. It's just a whole different experience. We drove through fast, heavy traffic last night. She set the destination and turned on the auto pilot. The car weaved it's way through traffic, took the right exit, got us there with a lot less stress than usual. I'm in love.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Guess what. I'm giving my 2007 Honda Pilot to my college-bound grandson and buying a Model Y. I drove it today and now I'll never be happy again until I get my new car.
I’ve had my model x for 5 yrs now and i’ve had no problem with the falcon wing doors opening into something. I have had no seat squeaks or rattles but i had a bunch of paint defects on the hood which Tesla fixed for me. I have 76000 miles now and when i got mine i received lifetime free supercharging and i also charge at work for free. I have to disagree with the cost of maintenance, i’ve had 0 issues with the falcon wing doors and still don’t need brakes.
the great thing about EV's is the lack of use of the mechanical brakes. The regen braking is really good and means you almost never touch the real brakes on the car.
Our 2019 100D (Pre Raven) has been amazing for past 4 yrs, put 50k on it. Just needed a 12V after 44months (warranty) and tires around 45k, otherwise has been SOLID! Now just need to sell it. Squeezed in a $79,990 “Tax Edition” Model X right before end of 2023. So far the 2023 has been awesome, none of the issues you described. Great video!
I traded my X to take advantage of transferring FSD to the new car. Love the new X! It Supercharges unbelievably fast! Just finished a 2000 mile road trip, and it worked great! Pro tip: when I traded, I configured my new X, got a price, but then checked to see if there were any “inventory” cars available. And there was! I was able to find one with EXACTLY the configuration I wanted (color, wheels, 5 seats, round steering wheel) for $10,000 less than ordering one, plus it was available immediately!
@@Trust_but_Verify I don’t know if they would ship the car. I was lucky that mine just happened to be local. Way back in 2013, when I bought my first Tesla, they did ship the car from out of State.
@@RudyBloor This was right after the Earnings Call in August. They announced the most recent price drop after I had taken delivery. But, the principle still applies: always check to see if there is an Inventory car available for a lower price and/or quicker delivery. Mine was brand new: 30 miles. I’ve had zero issues.
@@adairmartin thank you for letting me know. ive been toying with the idea of a model X since june and saw some discounts back then. havent seen anything discounted after the drop aside from specs with the ridiculously overpriced 22s my build is set to be here within a week, so im glad to hear you havent been having issues. hoping its perfect when i get it so i dont have to reject it and miss out on fsd transfer. my 3 had tons of problems and everyone on the internet always talks about problems on the X
We have a 2022 Model X Plaid and have a little over 29k miles on it (Took delivery on September of 2022). Home is off grid (100% solar) we have saved literally thousands on gas. So far after 1.5 years of ownership we have saved tons of cash in comparison. Have had Tesla EVs for 5 years and have a total savings of over $35k in saving for gas between the two (based on how much we drive it). Fortunately, have not had any issues with any of the teslas in the past 5 years and battery degradation has been miraculously 0 for both cars... Model 3 had some paint issues (Which tesla fixed), Y was perfect (no issues at all) and the Model X we had was just a falcon wing door alignment but that's it. Most maintenance we have had so far has just been Tires.
Love this Model X Refresh (2022). Quite a few small issues, but quickly solved by the service center. Fantastic for long road trips, especially with FSD. 23K miles now.
Great video. The MX is tempting since the price reduction. My MS driver seat also used to squeak. I bought Lithium Grease off Amzn, removed the head rest, and greased up the back plate all around. Hasn't squeaked since. Also the seat belt latch can rub on the seat, you can put foam or grease between the latch and seat to solve that issue.
Our September 2022 MXLR has had many issues to a point that we submitted a buyback request. Aside from all the issues we had, it is a great car. We love road trips with it. Only thing I would say is, don't expect to have a problem-free Model X.
@@aleshka4712yes they gave 100% back plus registration renewal. In our case it was fairly easy. Our service records provided enough “evidence”. I have many videos on my channel going through the process. We took delivery of X Plaid to replace it Tesla is buying back our 2022 Model X Long Range ua-cam.com/video/0gdxEpKZWeE/v-deo.html
I really appreciate your videos! The camera work and narration are among the best of these types of channels. With the huge price drop, I have ordered a Model X. I've had a M3 and MY (my current car). Each has had a few minor issues. However, they have never compromised the safety of the car or left me stranded. I've had that experience with new gas powered vehicles! I only would consider a Tesla because of the superior charging experience and the incredible software. I am renting FSD. While expensive, I enjoy the heck out of using it everywhere. Keep up the great work!
We got our X the same week you got yours. We are just returning from Road Trip from Pennsylvania to Florida to Pennsylvania. Best Road Trip car ever. As you point out charges quickly, preforms superbly. Very comfortable. None of your issues yet. Best car I’ve ever had. I have a Might as well, like the rest of the world I’m waiting on the cybertruck. The X vs. Y is easy. If you can easily afford to have so much money tied up buy the X. I like to say the Y is 2/3 the car of the X at 1/2 the price. If you get a Y get the speed boost. :)
We sold our 2017 Model X 100D last year… absolutely loved that car. Bought a Model Y Performance due to the prices of a new Model X. However, while we love the Model Y and it is the best in its segment in terms of price, space and overall package, it is a big downgrade if you have gotten used to all the extras you get in a Model X. Miss the screen in front of the driver, miss the bigger seats, miss the falcon doors (amazing in tight parking spaces with kids or stuff in the back), miss the regular electric doors in the front (I still put my foot on the brake a year later expecting my door to close 😢), and we miss the extra space. We might have to save up for a new Model X in a couple of years, nothing in the electric market beats the overall package you get for that price imo.
May I ask why you sold it? I’m looking around at used 2016-18 Model X’s since the price gap for newer ones are too much. Should I go ahead and buy one? I currently have a Mazda CX9. The falcon doors and space is what is attracting me but I heard Teslas battery doesn’t do well in the winter. Just scared of going away from gas.
I have a 2020 Model X, 7 Seater, Long Range with 22” wheels. I have less problems than I expected. Here are the issues that were fixed - all under warranty: 1) MCU SD card failed twice, preventing software updates; 2) Ball joints developed vibration during acceleration; 3) 12v batterie failed twice. I have had zero issues with squeaks nor any issues with Falcon Wing doors. That said, I never open them inside the garage out of an abundance of caution. I didn’t have any debris in my paint but there were swirls which I had removed when I had the car ceramic coated. My biggest complaint is the road noise. It is significant at highway speeds. BTW I am still on original tires. I expect they will need changing at 50k. Would I buy another Model X? Yes, that’s how much I love it.
That was the BEST video! Exactly what I wanted to hear about. Pros, cons, all your details about cost for electricity, etc. Very well thought out and produced!!! Thank you.
I rented a model X plaid on turo for a road trip. I loved the experience however hearing the falcon wing doors squeaking and rattling every time you go over a bump seems like a big miss. And the driver display would randomly just shut off for no reason and there was nothing you could do to get it back on other than hope. At these price points they need to sort these things out.
We are moving from a '19 Cayenne to a newly ordered MXP. We paid $94k for the Cayenne and will pay the same for the MXP. I chuckled when you talked about service wait times because we waited over a year for our dealer to replace our driver's seat. I have a M3P and while that thing is bullet proof, I'm holding my breath on the X but we are super excited!! Oh and great video by the way! Your X looks great!!
Yeah... once they change the model X in 2025 the older ones will be heavily discounted just all the model y. They're practically giving those cars away 😂😂😂😂
I have a 2018 Model X with currently 222,000 relatively problem free miles. I have the 22in wheels, but my tires only had to be replaced at around 70k miles. Never had issues with the Falcon doors. At 190k I had to replace bushings on the front driver side suspension. That's about it. Unfortunately, while on the freeway, a truck's wheel came off and caused a fair amount of damage. Due to the high mileage, my insurance declared the car totalled. I'll be getting another Model x, hopefully that lasts over 200 thousand miles as well. Model x is well worth the money for performance and flexing 😁
Just got my X a couple of weeks ago (also have a Y). No delivery issues (went through everything twice over). Paint is perfect (fortunately). Just returned from ky first road trip with it and absolutely love it. Space is awesome (previously owned a Dodge Durango RT). Plan on keep this X for a long time. Love my Y as well, but needed the space ... and oooohhh the space it has (I have a 5 seater simply because of the added space/fully folding back seats).
@@Trust_but_Verify don’t know about the radar on HW4. There are no parking sensors, that’s totally vision. While it’s getting better, it’s not as good as my old X with HW3. And the self opening front doo still doesn’t open all the way yet.
The only color that is not extra is the stealth grey. You can upgrade to the white interior , and as long as you keep it to the 5 seater version, you still can qualify for the $7,500. The solid black exterior is extra and it shows scratches extremely easily.
I had pre-ordered a Fisker Ocean Extreme and have been waiting on that vehicle for about a year. I had recently gotten the notice that the vehicle was moving to production to be built when I learned that the Model X had been reduced to the point where it qualified for the tax credit. I ended up deciding to forfeit my $1,000 USD deposit in the Fisker and decided to go with the Model X instead because of the insane value that it brings at the reduced price point with the 7.5k tax credit. Your videos helped me make the decision. Thanks for the content!
@jillshaub5093 Yes, in hindsight it was the right choice with everything going on with Fisker. Other than some window alignment issues which Tesla already serviced, the car has been awesome.
Great video. I pulled the trigger on base MX 5 seater ultra red. We will qualify for the tax credit. We did a test drive after booking and it was amazing how this car drives & Tesla technology. Didnt like the yoke steering though. Our current vehicles are Audi Q7 & BMW 3 both are at replacement age. Just fingers crossed on ours interms of body panel gaps, paint issues & FWD alingments. This is our first EV and I have free charging at work. Hope this works out.current EDD is Sept 28-Nov 2nd. Excited.
I’ve owned a Model S (leased) which I gave back for a Model X (pre-Raven) in 2018. I love my Tesla, but I wouldn’t do the Model X again simply because of the gull wing doors. They are cool and they get attention, but they are also a real pain. I’ve lived in Tampa, Orlando, and Nashville and while I’m not comparing Apples to Apples the Orlando Service Center is hands down the worst service center I’ve been to from a customer perspective. I’ve had a lot of issues with my Model X from delivery paint issues to wrong configuration. I’ve been locked out of the vehicle twice because the 12 v battery died with no warning. I had the HV battery fail and needed replacement in the middle of the pandemic which took 3 months. It also took more effort than it should have to get Tesla to make it right. All that said though I’d still pick a Tesla every day of the week. The service side needs work, but in some centers you would never know this is an issue such as Nashville (at least in my experience). If you are in Orlando it is a huge issue. They can fix those things though and I view them as a temporary inconvenience. I do worry about all these companies adopting the Tesla chargers and Superchargers getting congested, but that really doesn’t affect me too much since 90% of my charging is at home. But as I said, I can’t imagine my next car not being a Tesla.
Wow, that consumption is high. I have a 2022 Model X Plaid and I average 271 wh/mile over 22k miles and that includes over 20 drag strip 9 second runs.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy I drive a lot early morning (probably 70% of my miles) and I just run the fan, not the AC. That saves a lot of electrons.. My commute usually averages 240 wh/mile as traffic is often backed up and without AC, that means I'm running super efficient.. On a 80 mph road trip with AC, I get 350 - 370 wh/mile but I don't do a lot of road trips. I do 1 pedal driving as well. No need to drive aggressive in day to day driving. Aggressive only when I'm racing down in Mexico 😀or at the track.
I have pretty much the exact Model X and I picked it up on 3/31/23, WOW. The only real difference is I have the 5 seat version, which I wanted because I have even more trunk room and leg room in back seat. So I can carry 4 golfers and bags very easy. I also don’t have any rattles or other issues with strange warnings. I did just notice that a front sensor is missing, and the trim on front passenger side wheel has come loose, but that is probably from car wash or something like that. Service is very fast where I live and didn’t even have to wait a week.
PS. I love the yoke. It is way more comfortable, especially on long highway drives, and I used to ride a motorcycle so the turn signal buttons were easy for me to get used to. I do struggle with the horn button as you do, but other than that I love the yoke and no stalks….
it will if you dont set the height. To do so, open the hatch and stop it, then manually open it to the desired height. Press and hold the open button until you hear a beep. Now your hatch will open at that height every time.
My 2021 Model 3 LR had both its front seats squeaked horribly. The passenger one ended up being replaced as it was broken from the factory and the drivers seat was fixed in service appointments, but it took 3 appointments to get fixed. Nothing is more frustrating than a squeaky seat!
Bought my X 7 seat, 22s, 2 weeks before the price drop. A $10k drop for me. Hurts but damn the vehicle is great. Even after my service appointment issues being fixed. Added all around tint this week. Wrap coming at the end of the month. Love the yoke
A selling point for me is the speedometer. The removal of the signal stalks ( and other buttons we are all used to) represents a no go, as much as the yolk did. Can only imagine the time Hertz has spent teaching people to operate these cars just to get them out of the lot. Sure I can learn, and I may be able to teach my wife, but as a senior, .... why? Do not have the interest, spent all my energy over the years figuring out DOS and dip switch settings and generations of printer and video and phone charging cables. Progress I had no choice but to follow. But, I can still get an EV I can get into that have the controls that have worked well for many decades (while trying to remember not to put gas in it). Difference for the sake of being different is a sales gimmick that probably best works on the young. Big Tesla fan for all the other reasons though.
Good video! Sold my model 3 and buying a new Model S. This time around, I’m leasing. For me it makes more sense because of all the depreciation and new tech that becomes available over time. In 4 years I give it back and it becomes not my problem. 😉
@@BeardedTeslaGuy thanks. When I ordered it said “September / October delivery” but the next day they switched it to “October / November”. Going to be a long wait. 😅
@@MisterChibsYou know you can get a discounted model ordered directly from tesla with less than 4k down payment and a total no more than 20 grand with a ref code.
Hi mate, do you know if it's possible to improve the 0-60 acceleration of a Model X from 3.8 sec down closer to 3 sec? If so, what would need to be done to it?
Good review. I love my new X. I bought mine 3 weeks before the drop. In regards to the horn don't forget if you are in a hurry all you have to do is grab a hold of the right horizontal wing of the the yoke and the horn will honk.
Thank you for your honest opinion. Your video convinced me not to get 1. It is not worth the hassle and money even though it's a great deal compared to 2 weeks ago. Even with a tax rebate, it is still an expensive car. I always felt Falcon wings felt gimmicky with a cool-looking factor. It's a great door in concept if it works.
The Y P is quiet without squeaks. Great handling. Easier to drive park and garage. Good room and practicality. I also have an X. For up to 4 passengers Y is fine-rear seat backs recline. X- better ride and room. ventilated seats. more premium.
Enjoy the video. Wondering what are your thoughts now that the Cyber Truck is out and the features it bring would Tesla add those features to the Model X Thanks
can u tell me which rear entertainment screen is best and easiest to install myself. I just need UA-cam and Netflix for 3 and 5 year old and can it be setup from the front screen thank you
So the either a smaller one or the one that is like a floating screen sticking out a bit. Those both use the existing fan vents in the back, which will prevent you from losing a lot of the ability to direct air in the back.
I'm on the fence right now. Took a Model X home for the weekend to try it out. Overall, I LOVED IT!!!! But, the drivers side falcon door wouldn't close all the way, (had to close it from the display in the drivers seat) and there was a rattle in the back seat. Of course I'm thankful for the price reductions, but I'm nervous about spending this much and being disappointed. Your review was really good. Thank you. I was very concerned about what you said regarding the paint. What did Tesla do for you?
They didn't do anything for me on the paint. My option was to leave it as it is or have it repainted. I am not going to go down a route that includes repainting anything
I have 2014 s 85 free supercharger for life Tesla just texted me that i can transfer it to any new car. As long as the new car is under my name ill have free supercharger. You think i should get the X?
I just ordered a Tesla Model X (11/10/23). I’m concerned about the car after watching your video today. Can you explain why you accepted the delivery of your car with paint issues? You can’t fix that correctly, like you said, unless, you re-paint the whole vehicle. I would be horrified if there is something in the fine print that allows Tesla to deliver cars in this condition. If I were to get your car, in that condition, I would have tried to reject the car and wait for a new one. Why did you accept this? There is no way to fix it later. Please explain to me why you did this. Honestly, like your headline says. Thanks for your video thumbs 👍
@@BeardedTeslaGuy That’s freaking awesome. We live in St. Louis and once our oldest finishes high school we will be making our way to Orlando as well. We frequently go to Disney and on cruises. Happy for you Bro! ✌🏾
I loved this video, especially with the comparison between the Model X and comparable ICE vehicle in size. One factor you didn't cover is that the Audi Q7 would've traveled 9,000 miles a lot faster, with a lot less headache, getting a real 550 miles of range and taking 10 minutes to fill up.
But remember that’s 10 minutes to fill up every time. The Tesla only takes you waiting when you are road tripping. I plug in the garage, never go to the gas station to fill ip
What does that do for Gap Insurance. I think my credit union said they would only cover like 30% negative equity when we totaled our MY last year. We are planning to get an X for Christmas. Of our M3 and MY will hold. Only Tesla people ❤
Planning, planning, planning..... Just ordered my MX. This will be my 4th EV in the garage. First was a CODA, then a Model 3 and a Bimmer i3, the MX will be next. Do I expect the MX as trouble-free as the first 3? Absolutely not! I know there will be more trips to the service center. That is price to pay when an wife and I want a big, comfortable, and luxury EV for travel (we are both retired). Electricity cost for us? Zero! We installed oversized solar panels on our roof big enough to support TWO EV's - my son's Model 3 and my Bimmer i3. Now he runs away with his new wife, my monthly electricity bill is negative. I don't expect that to change with the MX. What electricity cost?
coming from a model y i dont think i can get used to the large window...i can see the reflection on the street lines in the side of the windshield and the tint seems to cross too low on the windshield...
Big question, is additional $ for X really worth it versus the Y. I’m a taller person and X feels more comfortable, but the Y would work. Just hard swallowing the extra $. If that gap narrows even more, than I’d go X
As a 5+ year Model 3 driver, YES! 100% I'm 6' 2" (215lbs) and was blown away by my new X test drive and ordered on on 9/4 after test driving some competition including the Y, Cadillac Lyriq, Fisker Ocean and Polestar 2.
Do you know if tesla offers an acceleration boost for the model X as they do for the 3 and Y? Just thinking it's a little way to get closer to plaid speeds without the higher price tag.
I can’t do it. I wish I could, but E is such a dork. Hey let me quickly devalue your car after you just purchased it. Also, still with the fit/finish issues. Unfortunately/fortunately, we don’t qualify for the credit. We’re going Q8 etron. Thanks for the review though!
Does 3 row leg room is same as Model Y? Planning to upgrade to X but my main question is about 3 Rd row sitting. By paying 90k we should be getting enough leg room than Model Y 7 seater
Did they fix the Camera issue when getting into the car, i have that same issue on my 2023 MYP.. Also happens on autopilot at night.. different warnings about the cameras.. but doesn't do it on FSD..
Very well-rounded review. I prefer silver alloys on the black car, it enhances the look so much more. And the 6-seat configuration is the best. However, I think the yoke steering should be killed. I wonder why no one has filed a lawsuit for the more accidents, or aren't there more accidents? I guess no one has conducted the survey yet.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy I have the wheel, and I have gotten used to the turn signals, although I would prefer to have a stalk. I hardly ever use the horn, so that’s not an issue for me.
I think this could be the best price to get it. Now, they might have the 2024 models in the future. Problem is not able to add option and get the 7500 credit :(. I will wait until the last week of this quarter and see if they will drop even more. Plus referral program cut to 500 bucks
always possible, but know that the Model X, surprisingly, is the only Tesla with an extended lead time right now. So demand is pretty high for production.
Unfortunately you’ll lose all gas savings on excessive tire wear on the inside of rears because of the messed up alignment on that car. Also gas in the northeast is around $3/gallon and electricity is double what you’re paying.
I have been driving model x for 4 years now the design is excellent but has a lot of quirks which can be easily ironed out one of the biggest one is the frunk lid is very paperish thin it's ridiculously cheap for 90k I paid why doesn't it have a closing actuator ? Another rather simple request is Tesla do not update the app so the original gps memorization of the pot holes can continue which is a great feature but they removed it, another issue is the AC turns on both front and back at once and most of the time this ginormous car has no body at the back this can really increase the range if both the front and back don't turn on at once, I really recommend putting multiple charging ports on this big car for convenience of the driver, also for 90k I really expected a premium charger with cable management robotics but nothing like that which doesn't take away from the supercharger network which is fantastic but at home I'm struggling with a cord that's pretty unfuturistic for such a futuristic car, the car just stops in middle of the road dead if you accidentally press over the air updates that is very dangerous Tesla can just call me and I can draw them a wireless charger circuit it's very easy to do and it will eliminate all the cords etc the future is certainly cooler than we expect if the voice ofncustomer is heard
What do I do? I have a 2023 X with none of the issues you've mentioned on your X. And that's my point, your issues and constant complaining is about your vehicle, not every X that is produced. I would suggest at this point you request a buyback. The fit and finish on mine is flawless, wing doors lock and load without any issues, no squeaks in the seats. I honestly feel left out of the constant negativity about a vehicle that I feel is one of the finest on the road today. Suggestion, somehow unload your X lemon and keep the Y, and may I say, happy trails to you.
lol, I have NEVER been inside of a Model X that was flawless. This isn't just B*ing and complaining, this is educating people on what to be prepared for so they aren't disappointed. Imagine if I made a fake video praising its perfection. What do you think would happen when the "masses" go to take delivery and there are issues just like this? They'd be pissed and I would have no credibility, kind of like you with your statement. I dont think you are lying about your car being flawless,i have just never seen one before, and even you suggest you feel left out of all these people having issues. hint, its not that everyone else is wrong and you alone are right... By the way, and this one is hard for some people to understand, IT IS OK TO BE CRITICAL OF SOMETHING AND LIKE IT...the 2 are not mutually exclusive.
Thanks so much for this video. I finally to possession of my MX Plaid. It is an amazing machine. I haven’t had any of these issues. And fingers crossed I do not. But thanks so much for being honest and showing the good the bad and the ugly. Very informative.
I currently have a 2022 Y that I pretty much paid for almost the same amount that this X is currently at. I don't quality for the rebate but I was thinking of actually trading my Y for the X. I figured if I'm paying this much on my Y, I might as well upgrade and pay pretty much the same thing. I haven't worked out the total numbers yet or the entire process of the trade-in but let me know your thoughts if this is even a good idea.
No paint issues with my October 2022 Austin made Model Y. However I paid $9,000 more than the current price for the same car. Changes I would like see in the Model Y will probably be addressed in the Juniper. I would like 430 miles of range though.
We are still considering our MY to MX upgrade…despite poor treatment/customer service by Tesla (stalling, broken promises, deception, mistakes on test drive days, times, cars, credits). I’m an engineer and look at the math but my wife is sensitive how Tesla corporate (not local) has been treating us. I really dont get Tesla sometimes, no apologies just lots of excuses. Is this something we just have to get used to?
If your particular service center is that bad, why would you want a MX that could have more issues than MY? My local Tesla center has been great so far.
unfortunately if you want to drive the best (Tesla right now) it comes with some pretty disappointing service. The Y and 3 is no problem because you may have to deal with it once or twice. The X/S, you may be a more frequent customer needing service. Something to really consider.
We dont have anything like that on the bill. The only other line item is a $16 connect fee, which may be what you are talking about, but I have to pay that flat fee with or without an EV so it's irrelevant.
I only did well with my first Tesla's 2013 S P85. I found a buyer and got most my list price back after 2 years. Every other one had huge depreciation.
We are looking at the Model X because of the Falcon doors. I am my mothers Caregiver and she is wheelchair bound and I use a lift to get her into our Model Y. It is difficult because I have to watch out with the opening of the car and not hit her head and then once I clear her head her bottom hits the seat so have to raise her a little to get her over the seat. In the Model X the Falcon doors eliminates that problem because I can lift her up high enough to clear the seat and not worry about hitting her head. So I do think it is worth it. It's the only car that makes it so much easier to get her into.
Love the brand, love the car, but be real, these aren't perfect, and for those spending this kind of money would be smart to be prepared if this is their first Tesla and $80k experience somewhere else probably wont be what they are expecting here. Still LOVE my Teslas!
We had a 3 and a 7 seater Y- with fsd transfer, traded in our 3 for a plaid X. If your going to get 6 seats anyways, consider the plaid. The X is definitely larger and more comfortable than our Y. While our Y has served us well with the 7 seats, getting back there takes some gymnastics. The frunk and trunk are much larger in the X and the falcon wing doors are a must (ok - really really nice to have) if you have kids in getting them in and out. Also love the fact that I can control the back screen from the front when in park. Sound system is great. Only thing I’ve disliked this far is the self presenting doors. Always opens when I walk pass - and sometimes it won’t close so had to turn that feature odd. Acceleration is great as expected but haven’t had a chance to really launch it yet. Some things to consider is that it will eat up the rear tire’s quickly due to the camber - I’ve ordered some aftermarket adjustments to lessen the camber to avoid having to replace the rear tires due to uneven wear.
The fronts will wear hard too FYI. What aftermarket part did you put on to reduce the camber? I've chewed up one set of tires in my 2020 performance after 25k miles, but it was all on the inside edge, the rest of the tread was fine.
I’d also be interested to know as well as I am picking up a LRMX tomorrow with 20” wheels. I don’t plan on launching it much though. Ideally I’d like to not have to get new tires every 20k miles
@@jonathansage2147 - I ordered the macsboost for the 2021+ refreshed S/X (palladium) which should arrive in a couple of days - believe the are shims so much cheaper than full camber arms that are available from macsboost or unplugged performance
ICE cars don't average the official mileage estimate in reality due to severe losses when braking, idling, coasting, idling, on start-up, etc. You can accurately compare if you follow the same procedure; i.e. total actual cost of gas divided by actual miles driven compared against cost of electrical power divided by miles driven. Big difference.
I was not an EV fan until my daughter got a Tesla. That thing is amazing. It's just a whole different experience. We drove through fast, heavy traffic last night.
Have you had any issues with the half shaft issues and the dreaded shudder? What ride height do you keep your X at mostly?
Thank you for being honest and providing us with a real non sugar coated review.

Does the inventory car needs to be in the same state as you? Or would they transfer the car to your Tesla service center?
was this after the price drop?
@@Trust_but_Verify I don’t know if they would ship the car. I was lucky that mine just happened to be local. Way back in 2013, when I bought my first Tesla, they did ship the car from out of State.
@@RudyBloor This was right after the Earnings Call in August. They announced the most recent price drop after I had taken delivery. But, the principle still applies: always check to see if there is an Inventory car available for a lower price and/or quicker delivery. Mine was brand new: 30 miles. I’ve had zero issues.
@@adairmartin thank you for letting me know. ive been toying with the idea of a model X since june and saw some discounts back then. havent seen anything discounted after the drop aside from specs with the ridiculously overpriced 22s

Indeed
Great video. The MX is tempting since the price reduction. My MS driver seat also used to squeak. I bought Lithium Grease off Amzn, removed the head rest, and greased up the back plate all around. Hasn't squeaked since. Also the seat belt latch can rub on the seat, you can put foam or grease between the latch and seat to solve that issue.
I seriously thought about just addressing it myself, but then I decided I want Tesla to fix it, not me.
Our September 2022 MXLR has had many issues to a point that we submitted a buyback request. Aside from all the issues we had, it is a great car. We love road trips with it. Only thing I would say is, don't expect to have a problem-free Model X.
Yep, its going to come with some "baggage" compared to the good ol' reliable Y/3
People say the same about Mercedes benz
Where you able to get a buyback from Tesla? Was it hard?
@@aleshka4712yes they gave 100% back plus registration renewal. In our case it was fairly easy. Our service records provided enough “evidence”. I have many videos on my channel going through the process. We took delivery of X Plaid to replace it

thats a good way of saying it
Rear tires won't last 20k miles. You must buy $2K adjustable camber arms and pay $? for installation and alignment. Does fix the problem.
Yea, I have been relatively trouble free to this point also. Has pleasantly surprised me

Yeah... once they change the model X in 2025 the older ones will be heavily discounted just all the model y.

Beautiful car
Did you buy the MX?
@jillshaub5093 Yes, in hindsight it was the right choice with everything going on with Fisker. Other than some window alignment issues which Tesla already serviced, the car has been awesome.
Wow! You dodged a real bullet there.
Do you think they'll allow 6 seated options to qualify for the federal credit for before the year ends?
maybe? They'd have to either make the 6 seat a free option, or lower the price of the car a lot, or a mixture of both.
Great video. I pulled the trigger on base MX 5 seater ultra red. We will qualify for the tax credit. We did a test drive after booking and it was amazing how this car drives & Tesla technology. @@BeardedTeslaGuy woohoo!
Did your lease on the Model S expire or did you break the lease early?
Wow, that consumption is high. I have a 2022 Model X Plaid and I average 271 wh/mile over 22k miles and that includes over 20 drag strip 9 second runs.
yea, our cars pretty much live on the highway though. My average speed is probably right at the top end of the cars out there for each of them.
This is very helpful. We are currently debating this decision right now 😬
just do it already...justify it by saying to yourself you can make some new fresh videos on it.
Nice congrats
Thanks for your honesty in this video.
Thanks for watching!
Also noticed model Y hatch will open right into your garage door.
it will if you dont set the height. To do so, open the hatch and stop it, then manually open it to the desired height. Press and hold the open button until you hear a beep. Now your hatch will open at that height every time.

Hi, Can you make an updated video about the model X with the Current price? Is it worth it?

How does the yoke steering handle in snow and ice?
My 2021 Model 3 LR had both its front seats squeaked horribly. The passenger one ended up being replaced as it was broken from the factory and the drivers seat was fixed in service appointments, but it took 3 appointments to get fixed. Nothing is more frustrating than a squeaky seat!
I can't stand squeaks and rattles in cars...
The wait time for servicing is not just tesla, I had to wait 4 weeks for my Ram and 1 month for my BMW
Bought my X 7 seat, 22s, 2 weeks before the price drop. A $10k drop for me. Hurts but damn the vehicle is great. Even after my service appointment issues being fixed. Added all around tint this week. Wrap coming at the end of the month. Love the yoke
Nice, still waiting on tint over here
6-7 more years. It will depreciate another 40-50k in value.

I'm on the fence right now. Took a Model X home for the weekend to try it out. Overall, I LOVED IT!!!!

I struggle with the horn button on my Model S as well. I don't understand the logic in that.

Woohoo, Congrats!
how is the road noise compared from the Y to the X? I feel like I can hear everything in my Y.
X is for sure quieter than the Y
coming from a model y i dont think i can get used to the large window...i can see the reflection on the street lines in the side of the windshield and the tint seems to cross too low on the windshield...
Big question, is additional $ for X really worth it versus the Y. I’m a taller person and X feels more comfortable, but the Y would work. Just hard swallowing the extra $. If that gap narrows even more, than I’d go X

The horn is seriously a safety issue, you could probably argue the turn signal too. I am not happy about those 2 things with the new wheel.

Are you going to go back to MYLR after having several issues with your Model X?
I still have my Model Y, and have no plans to get rid of it. Still my favorite Tesla.
My seat squeak was solved by raising the seat an inch, I like to keep it at the lowest setting
Do you have to lose an inch of fat to compensate the higher seat position? 😬
I sit at the lowest setting
Bs! Something interior squeaks or creeks when pressed on
Sir what do you suggest instead of Tesla model X for sharing ride ..?
Video with delivery checklists please 😁. I guess lot of viewers will be putting in the order. Will be helpful when they take delivery
Probably a relevant video, thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks so much for this video. I finally to possession of my MX Plaid. It is an amazing machine. I haven’t had any of these issues. And fingers crossed I do not. But thanks so much for being honest and showing the good the bad and the ugly. Very informative.
no home charging should I do it ?
I currently have a 2022 Y that I pretty much paid for almost the same amount that this X is currently at. I don't quality for the rebate but I was thinking of actually trading my Y for the X. I figured if I'm paying this much on my Y, I might as well upgrade and pay pretty much the same thing. I haven't worked out the total numbers yet or the entire process of the trade-in but let me know your thoughts if this is even a good idea.
All up to you. I tried to share all the intimate details of X ownership vs a Y.
No paint issues with my October 2022 Austin made Model Y. However I paid $9,000 more than the current price for the same car.
Changes I would like see in the Model Y will probably be addressed in the Juniper. I would like 430 miles of range though.
over 400 miles range in a Y would be amazing.
Take it to a detailer. They all have something
I test drove a model x and was really annoyed by the gears now being on the screen. Is there a way to control them in the steering wheel?
I think the falcon doors are a problem waiting to happen. It is a lot of 💰 to spend when the tech is great but the build quality is always an issue.
I could be fine without the Falcon doors, but I know some people want the X only for the Falcon doors
Oh mercy, he really didn’t read what you wrote. 😅
unfortunately if you want to drive the best (Tesla right now) it comes with some pretty disappointing service. The Y and 3 is no problem because you may have to deal with it once or twice. The X/S, you may be a more frequent customer needing service. Something to really consider.
Does anyone know if Tesla deleted the Key fob from the refresh Model X?
it does not come with a key fob, only the key cards
Does that $.13/kw include the distribution fee everyone likes to leave out in their calculations?
We dont have anything like that on the bill. The only other line item is a $16 connect fee, which may be what you are talking about, but I have to pay that flat fee with or without an EV so it's irrelevant.
I only did well with my first Tesla's 2013 S P85. I found a buyer and got most my list price back after 2 years. Every other one had huge depreciation.
Try 45 cents home and 65 supercharger... Or about 10 dollars a gallon for gas... Welsome to the uk
Hey, I had an aftermarket turn signal stalk system on my Jeep, might that be an option from somebody on stalk-less Teslas?
I am sure some company will introduce that, they've already have aftermarket dash for Model 3/Y.
Pretty sure S3XY buttons is working on one right now!
I wish there were more mobility Model X's out there because it really is an ideal platform for this.
You can get a discounted model ordered directly from tesla with less than 4k down payment and a total no more than 20 grand with a ref code.
@@a.ctlyzer Thank you. Where do you get the ref code?
@@kalanikaluhea5409 I did make a post on it
Have Model Y leased going to end Feb 2024, thinking on X next or Range Rover for 100K
Love this - honest, up front, but still a fan in the end! I hope to graduate from used Model 3 Long Range money to Model X money some day :)
The Model X, without its funky issues (and falcon doors just in my opinion) is an AMAZING family car!
@@jonathansage2147 - I ordered the macsboost for the 2021+ refreshed S/X (palladium) which should arrive in a couple of days - believe the are shims so much cheaper than full camber arms that are available from macsboost or unplugged performance
MXP for me with 20 inch wheels. Hopefully I can do a square set up
ICE cars don't average the official mileage estimate in reality due to severe losses when braking, idling, coasting, idling, on start-up, etc. You can accurately compare if you follow the same procedure; i.e. total actual cost of gas divided by actual miles driven compared against cost of electrical power divided by miles driven. Big difference.
Did they fix all the issues with your vehicle ?
