I've had the pleasure of seeing you live with Darkest Hour and SEA, both shows you were the guy to watch. I remember when I realized it was you at SEA awhile back (toured with A day to remember) and my girlfriend thought I was going to have a stroke. I went becuase she dragged me there. I fucking loved it becuase of your presence live. Idk what it is but as a drummer and a fan its like we know it's you back there, we can hear it, hell practically fucking feel it. You have provided me with two epic nights and a lifetime of encouragement to play. Your passion literally drives so many drummers out there to keep playing. Keep up the good work and know that on the underground you're considered one of the most influential musicians metal (and whatever other wizardry) has.
Same exact thing with me. My girlfriend at the time dragged me to ADTR and they had SEA on tour with them and I was too stoked cause he was the drummer. I was so disappointed they had such a short set
+BurnThePope0514 Wow, my first true touring experience! Very cool that you were present. Which DH gig did you attend? I appreciate your highly gracious words! :)
+Tyler Weinacker That's awesome dude, funny that we had the same experience. I heard him doing a sound test and I was like "wtf" who is that then I noticed it was him. Total fan girl moment.
I came back this vid for the session info after listening to the whole album a few times. Really dig it. Especially as a guitarist first and then drummer I appreciate all the interplay and complexity. Yet the whole thing has groove and awesome melodic drive.
phenomenal. would be wonderful to watch you work with these guys on the regular. such groove, pop and slam. then there's your addition to it which makes it even better.
Travis, you are awesome. I loved the ambidextrous technique of Mike Mangini, the foot technique and the difficoults time signature of Virgil Donati and so other things and I didn't know how to put them togheter. Until I found out you. Thank you. Greetings from Italy!
Do you have music sheets of this album? Or drum lessons of your own covering this "djent" "prog" style? I really would liike to study the songs! thank you very much!
There are transcriptions of every tune in the respective video descriptions. I sell several pre-made video lessons out of my webstore: travisorbin.bigcartel.com. Cheers!
This is amazing! been waiting for intervals new album for so long and when I heard it was you I was really glad. Great job on the album m8! keep going!
Blake Warrens I've been gradually trying to switch hands between hi-hat and snare and it's coming along slowly. I'm a guitar player mainly, so I don't find myself practicing drums that often!
Quite uplifting thought that metal musicianship is one of the few areas that has actually really moved forward (and up) in the last 3 decades, whereas most other things music have been going to hell in a hand basket.
When I showed your channel to my friend who also plays drums, he said that he didn't like your playing because you were just too freaking good and you make him feel bad about himself. Haha. :) You know what I'd like to see someday, pre and post mixed versions of the tracks.
+ovo nisamja The isolated drum vids I'm selling of this stuff features unmixed drums; they're available via my Big Cartel store. And tell your friend Donati still manages to induce like feelings in myself!
Killer job as usual man. I've always wanted to learn some of the stuff you put out, is there any chance you'll ever export the Drum transcriptions through Guitar Pro 6 instead of 5 since 6 uses more legitimate transcriptions instead of that freaky number system? Cheers!
+Fortunate Losers I utilize 4, and the option for standard notation is present but I export the charts just how I read them. It didn't take long for me to get acclimated--and eventually even prefer--the numerals, actually; easier to memorize a few numbers rather than a bunch of nonsensical symbols IMHO.
I feel sorry for all the other drummers out there that have to perform his beats on various tracks. Imagine joining a band for fun (he writes for some pretty unknown groups) and you find out that Travis fucking Orbin wrote the parts you're supposed to learn.
Knowing Aaron is a talented drummer, as well as guitarist (obviously), I'm curious how much of the drum input was your own? I've been following your work for some time (Cartoon Theory - Wizardry Mind still eludes me), and it definitely feels like you had a fair share of input on this album.
Hey Travis, First off, killer videos. Love them all. I've been playing for about 14 years now, and want to start getting more into reading and writing transcriptions. I can read beginner and some intermediate ones, but nothing compared to you. Is there any direction you'd advise me to start at? Like any books or videos to watch and study. Thanks man, keep rocking.
+JustinPayton If you can already read, it's simply a matter of putting it into practical use (reading every day) and then moving onto more advanced studies. Perhaps some polyrhythm books, like Magadini's. If you want to really expand your mind check out Mangini's RK books and Vai's 'Little Black Dots' essay.
I know it has nothing to do with your drumming but I've always been really curious what your diet and weight lifting routine are like Travis. Judging but your physique I'd bet you put in as much intensity to your lifting as you do your drumming and Im curious to see what that looks like. Great video as always dude.
+Gabe Hicks Thanks! I mostly just adhere to a simple old school bodybuilding kind of approach; I've got a setup at home with free weights, a squat rack and a dip station. As for diet, nothing crazy or unusual. I've always had a fast metabolism, but I still try to strike a balance between carbs/fats/protein.
The drum transcription is in the description but to answer your question, the first bar (when the drums enter) is 5-4 and the bridge is 6-4; the rest of the tune is in 4-4.
I mean amazing as usual like top notch performance. The guitars sounded so nice with your drum tuning for this one. My only fault is the ride being really quiet! Bump that bitch up!
After the last note he's sitting there like "I have completed my task. Switching to idle mode until new task assigned."
Had no idea that you were playing on this album, but I'm not suprised. Great job as always!
+Force same
+Force Haha. Thanks!

+Travis Orbin In Portland Oregon in November! So not so long ago my friend.
+Travis Orbin I skipped my classes and work that day to see you guys haha.
+Tyler Weinacker That's awesome dude, funny that we had the same experience. I heard him doing a sound test and I was like "wtf" who is that then I noticed it was him. Total fan girl moment.
2:39 His reaction to the groove just makes the groove that much more groovy.
Shreddy as ever.. A scholar and a gentleman..
+Zack B :D
I know I’m like years late but like I’m obsessed with the part at 2:28 love your work so much
It doesn't get much better than this!
Travis! Watching this has been the most fun I've had in some time. Always Impressed with capital I
N
Your fluidity and coordination are something else, as well as the machine like precision.
Hell yes Travis! Beautiful composition!
such a joy to watch and listen to your session work. amazing as always! cheers
In great shape mister Orbin.

Great track! And flawless performance as always.

+Felix Garstka Thankya kindly!
Still as incredible as you were in the old "Sky Eats Airplane" days. Fantastic work and amazing album, man. You rock.
Travis, you are awesome. I loved the ambidextrous technique of Mike Mangini, the foot technique and the difficoults time signature of Virgil Donati and so other things and I didn't know how to put them togheter. Until I found out you. Thank you. Greetings from Italy!
+Eliseo Bancheri Wow, cheers!
God almighty! Travis and Intervals together, it's eargasmic!
Incredible! Super human.
hoooooly fuuuuuhhh this is awesome.
Yes! I've been waiting for this. Awesome work!
1:55 is so cool dude. Amazing job on this album.
+patdrums9 Cheers!
OMFG i was waiting for this track, i knew you were going to upload it! THANKS for your drumming!
This album is solid from start to finish
This album and this drumming became some of my greatests references of this year. Thank you! This is Tom from brazil \,,/
Cheers, Tom!

Great job dude! This song is amazing.
those prog tunes amaze me everytime. great choice of a song
Amazing
Glad he chose to work with you, sounds/looks super clean! I still can't get over your snare though.. Makes me so mad that its like 1 grand!
Perfection!!
Holy shitballs, this is awesome!! The whole album is wicked.
Jesus... Your playing style is so fkin practical! I'm impressed
I wish I could play like that. Not crossing arms looks so comfortable.
I'm in the process of learning to play ambi. It's tough but I'm getting there. You should learn too! It's not something you have to be born with!
Blake Warrens I've been gradually trying to switch hands between hi-hat and snare and it's coming along slowly. I'm a guitar player mainly, so I don't find myself practicing drums that often!

Can’t even imagine what it must take to be this good. I’m trying to find a backing track for this song - so I can play the lead over it - any ideas?
Accuracy of a machine.
and how did you get that snare to crack so hard! so fucking well done.
That crazy groove where you copy the guitar part reminds me of the double hi hat part in SEAs The Contour for some reason. Awesome work dude.
Same drummer ;)
Fucking been waiting for this for so long that only Moses and the Jews understand my feels.
WOOOO!!!
you need to do a midi pack with toontrack.
When I showed your channel to my friend who also plays drums, he said that he didn't like your playing because you were just too freaking good and you make him feel bad about himself. Haha. :)

Hahaha, that's what you wish us to think, but we all know you, and Virgil aren't from this planet! :)
Will check out the store. Thnx.

+Fortunate Losers And thanks!
+Travis Orbin I suppose I'll have to learn a new system if I want to thoroughly learn your material then eh haha! Thanks for ever inspiring.
lol I was listening to this album in the morning
maannnn i don't know what was going on or how you got that to groove at 2:28-2:34, but damn that was tasty!
I feel sorry for the poor soul that will be playing drums for Intervals when they start touring lol
I feel sorry for all the other drummers out there that have to perform his beats on various tracks. Imagine joining a band for fun (he writes for some pretty unknown groups) and you find out that Travis fucking Orbin wrote the parts you're supposed to learn.
BurnThePope0514 Yeah exacly haha "HEY MOM I JUST JOINED A BAND IM SO PUMPED.... wait a minute........ fuck my life....."
+Rui Carneiro "Never mind, mom, I just un-joined a band"
Zac Felts "I'll just go pick up the books again or something."
+Rui Carneiro Wasn't that the same impression Matt Halpern had when he joined Periphery?
Gaaaad damn, my dude!
Any more Intervals sessions soon?
How do you keep your cymbals/heads alive with those kind of sticks!?
1:50 reminds me on CHON :D
Knowing Aaron is a talented drummer, as well as guitarist (obviously), I'm curious how much of the drum input was your own? I've been following your work for some time (Cartoon Theory - Wizardry Mind still eludes me), and it definitely feels like you had a fair share of input on this album.
omg that snare how did you get that phat sound
+haekal nadhil It's tuned quite low with an abundance of Moon Gel. Anthony Kalabretta took it from there.
Sick.
Masterfully good, as always. How'd you like this recording room? Drum tones sound excellent!
so cool 2:25 - 2:34

+Travis Orbin that's awesome! I'll definitely take a look at those pieces. Thanks for the reply man, can't wait for the next video.
What do all the numbers mean in the JPG of the transcription?
go to travisorbin.com -> media - > both, there's a key there
OF COOOOUUUURSE you played on the new Intervals didn't ya? Nice work! That snare sounds like a heavy burrito.
+Stemage Hahah. Chipotle, I'm assuming?
I wonder how he transcribe's his parts.
Great now i cant do Interval drum covers :(

Dank dank dank
Do you have the isolated drum track for this song?
Yes, I sell isolated drum vids from my webstores: travisorbin.bigcartel.com and travisorbin2.bigcartel.com
to this day i still wanna know the time signature of this song! is it just 4/4?
The drum transcription is in the description but to answer your question, the first bar (when the drums enter) is 5-4 and the bridge is 6-4; the rest of the tune is in 4-4.

Who mixed your drums?
+Buster Odeholm Anthony Kalabretta mixed the record.
Buster post more videos please! I miss watching ya', xD
The Force Awakens c:
"I had a week to rehearse this record"
How on earth did you manage that? Download it straight into your brain like in the Matrix?!
+James Lyon SSssshhhhhhhhh
I'm not sure how I feel about 2:27-2:36
+Elliott McKibbon ? It's perfect... Listen well
+N NG Lol i know. Too groovy
This sounds so much like Tooth & Claw by Animals as Leaders. That's not a bad thing.
Do you lift weights in gym? you are a monster :D arms like my legs :D
Sounds like CHON lol
2 people down voting don't understand music
I wonder how he transcribe's his parts.
