+sakeido there is always a lot more to these situations than is made diplomatically public when bands announce this type of stuff. Please don't quote mine and Anup's statement as if you actually know how this entire situation went. This is not stemming from my motive to "be in the spotlight and instead of playing behind Mike". That is beyond false. Maybe some day people will understand and realize what went on. Until then, there is no need for fiction. I appreciate that you're digging the new stuff though man, thank you.

+Intervals started as instrumental band, then they agreed to let mike sing, Aaron wants to put it back as before but Anup and Lukas still wants the one with vocals. Conflicting ideas, so they split. That's what I understand from Aarons post before.
Anyways, let's just enjoy this masterpiece and wait for the whole thing to come up.

I'm pulling from this a lot of Nick Johnston's style. Not so much writing, but in overall tone. It's very optimistic as we all know Nick can be. Intervals hasn't been so much as dark before, but the music has had a very melancholic feeling. I'm Awake feels fresh. Feels happy. In terms of food, it's like drinking a cucumber, melon, and mint smoothie. Fresh, invigorating, and every facet works so well together.

I don't understand why everyone has the incentive to compare everything to CHON or comment something about CHON. Nothing about this song, or any other Intervals song, sounds like chon. I'm not disregarding the talent any of the musicians in chon has, but I think it's kind of rude to go on a musicians video and just immediately compare his music to someone else's when it has nothing to do with that particular musician or band.

+Martino Ortiz I don't know, there are some minor phrasing similarities, but predominantly Aaron's unique style. Maybe some tonal similarities. But what bits you're hearing is a HUGE part of CHON's sound. So that's why the comparison. and those who don't know theory or have studied or a listened to a varying range of artists or music may not know the history of the tone and chords that CHON uses or what Aaron decided to use in this track. If you've only just started hearing CHON and have never heard anything like them before, and hear this, you're naturally gonna think "Oh that sounds like some stuff that CHON does".

I want to personally say as a musician (more as a guitarist myself) you've easily become one of my biggest musical influences. I've been a fan ever since the "still winning" video and its mind blowing to see your growth. I admire your approach to songwriting; other guitarists shred but you make it sing and at least to me its amazing. Not to mention your playing style has definitely mixed with my own & as weird as this might sound...I'm a music producer but in a way, thanks to you i've been building more confidence with my playing to consider writing guitar covers of songs & uploading them to YT. Long story short you're a beast bro, I love the music, I can't wait to see you live & maybe even get a lesson in the future. Keep up the good work!!

Who cares if it sounds like anybody else's music, fact is its not and Aaron put a lot of work into writing a super catchy song. Definitely looking forward to hearing the rest of the album!

I've been stuck to this riff since you posted it somewhere around December last year. Glad to see the final result, can't wait to ear the rest of the album! Good job, keep making music right the way you do man!

This is it, the riff Ive had in my head, a kind of mix of holy wars with progressive rock influence I thought of like that of polyphia. Im happy to finally know that something like it actually exists. It's surprising if anything. The same thing with 99 red balloons happened, and I had that melody stuck in my head for years not knowing where it was from, and I guess maybe in both of these situations I've heard the source song myself and then the melody came up in my head and I thought it was original, well boy was I wrong. Fuck yea though, I now have a new sick ass band to listen to, good shit man.
