I bought a pair of the lace up Rocky snake boots two years ago after having a couple close calls with a few rattle snakes here in Tennessee. So far I really like them. Since then I have not seen a venomous snake so I guess they repel also…lol. Took awhile to get them good and broke in but now I find them very comfortable to wear all day. Only complaint I would give them is that your feet will get hot during the warmer months but it’s worth it for the peace of mind. Appreciate the videos. 👍🏼

Nice review Jason. I haven't tried either of those boots, but I have worn Irish Setter Vaprtrek 17" snake boots. They are waterproof much higher than the Rockies you have and are probably as light and comfortable as those as well. I've walked/biked for many miles wearing them while scouting during the hottest months here in Central Florida and am amazed at how dry and comfortable they are in all-day trips. The waterproofness does wear out after 2-3 years from flexing, depending on how much you use them and at just over $200 a pair I don't think that's bad at all.

I own both of those boots. I wear the Rocky's the most, because I don't wade in the water much. I wear the tall snake boots as much for ticks as I do snakes. I like to lace them up with my pant legs inside and then spray down with tick spray. I just always figured that they made it harder for ticks to get inside my pants. But it's not foolproof, of course, however I think it helps. I wear the rubber boots for muddy conditions.

I've always wanted some snake boots. Here in southern Indiana we have a bit less to deal with snake wise then south Georgia. We do have timber rattlers but mostly copperheads. Cottonmouths are down here to in the southern most part of the state where I live. I've almost stepped on copperheads a few times but it's not like down there.

I have started using the thick rubber boots that Walmart sells that are made in CANADA, of all places. The rubber is at least ¼" thick. Completely waterproof, rugged and not expensive. No neoprene or other weak points. In five years of using them in SC and NC, of course, I haven't been struck but I have been around water moccasins twice.

The say the snakes only strike the boots and generally will not penatrate the rubber but I'm not sold on that idea . I'm in central Tennessee around backwater but it's good to wear them in the brush and streams.

You are gonna love them. I have a review coming out soon comparing the agility to the alpha 4x. Have spent the last month in the agility and they are taller, safer and more substantial than the 4x. Although they are more slippery tread so becareful walking roots, down trees, rocks etc.

I use some all leather boots due to the Rattlesnake biting through the rubber very easy. They are not tall but regular boot height as actual snake boots are way tall and if the snakes in South Dakota are going high they go above the knee anyway on most people due to the taller boots people have worn be they modern cowboy, the rubber, or the a actual snake boots.
My dad he likes the Lacrosse in the all rubber style more for wet but still works for Rattlesnakes.

Snake boots leak water, therefore they’re a non starter for me. My pants tucked in my rubber boots with knee socks have always worked for me.
I once called lacrosse and asked if they’ve ever tested their normal rubber boots against a snake bite, they said no. How to you have a test without a control? They know snakes aren’t getting through the rubber boot that’s why they won’t test it, they want that fear of snakes to sell boots.
