Daryl Quevada They don't look good on UA-cam, that's for sure. Is the cryogenic thing why they're 1000 dollars over priced? They have a marketing problem. They need to be about tone quality and high quality workmanship. They seem to be adding bells and whistles so they can over charge

    1) The burst in the finish looks like it doesn't have any pants on.
    2) I like the "HP" features (it's good to know Hewlett Packard have FINALLY gotten in the game).
    3) These guitars sound killer.
    4) The prices are nuts but less nuts than Suhr or Paul Reed Smith's American made guitars.
    5) Drinking fountain... THAT's what that freaking case reminds me of. That was really bugging me.

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this vid. In addition to the features mentioned, there’s also a belly carve on the LP which adds some comfort. I also noticed that the SG has 24 frets and they moved the guitar cable jack placement. On the HP models specifically I prefer the new finishes. The traditional finished LP looks strange without the pick up rings but the others look great without them.

The opening jam track really reminds me of a middle section of a specific Vai song on Passion and Warfare, but I can't remember which one. Rob's playing kind of amplified that, too. Which is kind of a compliment ; )

    for an easier tone comparison:
14:42 - LP (Chappers's rig with gain because Chappers)
    21:46 - SG (Captain's rig, clean)
    22:48 - SG (Captain's rig with gain)
26:17 - SG (presumably Chapper's same rig, but with backing track)
26:41 - LP (presumably Captain's same rig, but with backing track)

Rob's understanding of cryogenics is a bit lacking. Han Solo was not sold to Boba Fett. He was given to him as part of his compensation for helping capture Luke. (it's on Vader that he got away) He was then taken to Jabba for the bounty, which could in a sense be construed as sold, I suppose.

    • @ianlenn5408
      @ianlenn5408 6 років тому +1

I mean, he was technically "sold" to Boba. Except that Boba was paid in a carbonated smuggler, rather than a case of credits.

They sure look different than a regular Les Paul/SG.
Also, I would love to see the differences between tapping and splitting the coils, could you guys do it? Listening to how the others DIP switches change the sound would also be cool, but not as mind blowing.
Damn, I really wish I could afford one of those, but is hard when you live in a country where the average salary per YEAR is the same as the price them. Well, it is what it is.

Those HP models fascinate me. I know some people really don't care for them, including the staff of pretty traditionally-minded aging ex-hippies at the local guitar store near where I live in California who steered me away from the idea of getting one of those, and instead sold me a 2017 LP Standard T -- with which I'm very happy, I must admit. But those HP models do sound and look cool. I tried out an HP model of SG and aside from a little initial confusion about the robot tuners, it seemed great to me, and such a guitar is on my list of future instruments to have of my own -- if Gibson still make them by the time I the money! Thanks as always for your cool demos of all the gear.
