OMG! that vacuum cleaner moment @18:30
I think Lee wants to break free ;)
YES!! OMG.. That made me laugh. :D
I must be in the minority because I think these look brilliant.
I absolutely love the look of both
I love the HP line. I have 2 and will probably get another.
I fucking lost it at the Vacuum case LOL
Except I now have "I want to break free" from Queen stuck in my head. hehe (I love Queen, btw).
The SG without the pickguard looks weird and cool at the same time
Fadil F i like it more without
i don't like it.
I think it looks terrible
Daryl Quevada They don't look good on UA-cam, that's for sure. Is the cryogenic thing why they're 1000 dollars over priced? They have a marketing problem. They need to be about tone quality and high quality workmanship. They seem to be adding bells and whistles so they can over charge
Derek Trucks
I thought Chappers & the Captain had an extra shot in their coffee this morning until I realized I was playing the clip at 1.25 speed! These new tracks are rocking, Pete!
Ha ha... Try half speed.... :-)... New backing tracks coming out very soon...
Thank you!! Glad you like em! P
hahaha xD i had to see for myself! laughed my ass off at 1.24 with 1.25 speed xD
Just tried it at 1.25, hilarious.
I can't stop watching it in x1.25 speed now it's so funny but sounds so right
1) The burst in the finish looks like it doesn't have any pants on.
2) I like the "HP" features (it's good to know Hewlett Packard have FINALLY gotten in the game).
3) These guitars sound killer.
4) The prices are nuts but less nuts than Suhr or Paul Reed Smith's American made guitars.
5) Drinking fountain... THAT's what that freaking case reminds me of. That was really bugging me.
LOL, had a good laugh about your 1)
Thank you ✌
The only high performance thing I've got is my BurgerSlayer600 grill. That thing is state of the art, I'll tell you what. Well atleast it was, in 1992.
How's Bwaaaa bobby doin?
Hank pls
Alex pls
Hank Hill what happened to your vogner char king?
the only thing your good at is being a cartoon character
I’ll tell you what. This is one of the best vids yet! Fab playing. Great wit. Great axes. Marvellous stuff.
So the cryogenic process is like viagra for frets then?
*I kinda dig it 🤷♂️*
Those are beautiful guitars. The Gibson traditionalists are blind and insane.
Douglas Bell I wouldn’t call myself a traditionalist but do you honestly like the look of that hardware? Do you not think it looks cheap?
TheMusicfan189 it looks beautiful
@@TheMusicfan189 chrome never looked good on cars or guitars lol, i wish they could update the vintage looking tuners to be locking
don't listen to them. boomers are an unusual species that does not like change even though THEY were the change back in the ancient times in which they resided in .
That BLUE omg. Stunning.
Whoever edits your videos is a comedy god. That vaccuum bit had me in stitches.
I love the backing tracks! To me it helps showcase the tone, I use backing tracks when I need to get a feel for how my practice tones are in context.
Both models look amazing !
I NEED that les paul in that blue. STUNNING.
Just got one in Mojave Burst!! Can't wait for it to get here!!
wow, the color and finish on the les paul are beautiful!
the vac/ hoover sound was the best quick gag I've seen in yonks! well done Mr. Editman
Beautiful and great sounding guitar.
awesome jam at the end!
There should be a series on the customers from the store who buy these high end guitars
SoSoGuitar828 unfortunately they'd also have to film the customers coming back to get their refund 😂😂
LMFAO at the vacuum cleaner sounds. Ridiculously Brilliant editing
The end shenanigans put a smile on my face thanks guys hahaha
6:39 YES PLEASE. Get him on the show, he has serious chops
The vacuum sound. Priceless. Best sound insert yet.
That SG looks fantastic! Damn!
When I first heard that the HP Les Paul comes without Pickup Rings I was like wtf, you can't do that, but damn, that blue Les Paul is SO sexy, want it!
I have the 18 sg hp in cobalt and I looooove it. It's a great guitar
When he started hoovering at 18:32 I p*ssed myself! 😂 Rory is a legend!
I’ve been anxiously awaiting this vid. In addition to the features mentioned, there’s also a belly carve on the LP which adds some comfort. I also noticed that the SG has 24 frets and they moved the guitar cable jack placement. On the HP models specifically I prefer the new finishes. The traditional finished LP looks strange without the pick up rings but the others look great without them.
The opening jam track really reminds me of a middle section of a specific Vai song on Passion and Warfare, but I can't remember which one. Rob's playing kind of amplified that, too. Which is kind of a compliment ; )
You guys are great and I was wondering about when you were learning? What helped in developing your skills with the guitar guys? Anything you guys can throw to starting guitarists? (Start a school sometime! I'm in!)
Love that Blue LP ! also love the backing tracks ! Genius ! I so need to hear a guitar "in the mix" . Music aint music without drums and bass .
Also, the tweaks that they made to the cases are amazing! Loving these updates for the most part. I do prefer burst finishes to the fade finish but it’s cool to see a new look. Also the price got a bit crazy this year... 😬
mother of god Captain Lee slayed with that last jam \m/ it's awesome to see how well you've grown and evolved as a guitar player over the years :)
New pickup mounting option looks great! But, how would you swap them if you wanted to? Will manufacturers have to bring out alternative mounting kits?
i love when you jam, i reckon every video should have a little jam at the end.
Love this
Love the shredding! You guys rock lol
I cracked up on the vacuum sound effect lol!
that pink looks surprisingly cool. first thing I'm noticing is that these things sound Great! although it's a bit different it's nice to see a new look In the SG.
hahhah, the end jam was hilarious. this is why I love this channel. great synergy with the 2 hosts
Yea! shout outs to Rob!
IMO all the models need this upgrade with no extra cost. All LPs should have this neck joint at a minimum.
Hey! You mentioned the adjustable nut for playing slide (that's real neat). Can you point me to any of your videos where you demonstrate guitars using the slide technique. Or maybe it's an idea for a new video. What are the options for a slide guitarist? Love the videos :D
How do you get the pickup in? If there is no relief in the top for the tabs, there is no rear-loading, so how do they do it? Rubic's pickups?
Every guitar sounds like 80s Ibanez when you use tons of distortion, even if you got adjustable nuts :-) Where's Danish Pete?
Here I am .... I do like an adjustable nut :-)... You Viking you... :-)
Capt. definitely had his Satriani vibe for this one. That homey atmosphere is why folks love you guys.
How would you be able to switch out or make changes to the pickups?
for an easier tone comparison:
14:42 - LP (Chappers's rig with gain because Chappers)
21:46 - SG (Captain's rig, clean)
22:48 - SG (Captain's rig with gain)
26:17 - SG (presumably Chapper's same rig, but with backing track)
26:41 - LP (presumably Captain's same rig, but with backing track)
Great video, as usual!! OMG captain's tapping!! @chappers: which pedals do you run through before your RD1 during the last jam? Sounds great, man!
outro jam was awesome !
Andrew Martin 26:27 was my favorite part
Ughhh that sounded awesomen
I recvd an SG Standard HP Cobalt Fade 2018 for b-day, very nice tonal options for live stage. Of course I have a 2204 Marshall, the 20th Anniversary Series full stack in White Tolex and gold bead I bought back in 82 or so. IMO best Marshall ever. I'm in AC/DC heaven.
Great vid. The vacuum cleaner case had me busting up laughing. Also, did I just see Lee tapping? O.o
Sweet video and awesome playing at the end. The blue looks super sweet but comes at a price that will slap you silly.
TREMENDOUS DEMO, GOOD JOB GENTLEMEN!
Not necessarily saying you would want to but I'm guessing the pickups can't be swapped out? Just curious how the screws from the back attach...
Why does this video not have more likes?? That jam alone was amazing!
Holy Shit that blue finish looks awesome !
Not sure why you guys bothered putting the backing track in the mix at about 26:something. Neither of you were even close to 'with it' :-) I DO love your videos, I do. Thanks for what you do!
Rob's understanding of cryogenics is a bit lacking. Han Solo was not sold to Boba Fett. He was given to him as part of his compensation for helping capture Luke. (it's on Vader that he got away) He was then taken to Jabba for the bounty, which could in a sense be construed as sold, I suppose.
I mean, he was technically "sold" to Boba. Except that Boba was paid in a carbonated smuggler, rather than a case of credits.
When you do a job, does your boss sell you your paycheck?
Ian Lenn, no. He was traded to Boba. If there is no currency involved, then it isn’t a sale.
No, the bank sells you your paycheck, Fektthis. :-)
I find his lack of understanding of cryogenics disturbing.
hi
SG 2018 HP (alnico 2) vs SG HP 2019 (alnico 5 )
which one is the best? hard to choose between a warm tone vs bright tone ?
the backing track toward the end sounds like "Hip to be Square" at least similar vibes
Loving Gibson's vacuum technology. Very innovative.
Can you put in different pickups with that mounting setup?
They sure look different than a regular Les Paul/SG.
Also, I would love to see the differences between tapping and splitting the coils, could you guys do it? Listening to how the others DIP switches change the sound would also be cool, but not as mind blowing.
Damn, I really wish I could afford one of those, but is hard when you live in a country where the average salary per YEAR is the same as the price them. Well, it is what it is.
Thanks!
Mateus Asato is literally my favourite player! Please get him on it would be a great video. His tone and feel are fantastic.
That looked like the most fun they have had in a jam in awhile.
The vacuum cleaner sound when Lee wheels the case around flat-out killed me!
Whats the difference between coil Taping and Splitting?
That vacuuming sound effect! HA HA HA!
Love your videos...would love to see a "Flagship Amp Shootout" the top of the line combo amps from the major players (just to name a few):
- Marshall Asteria
- Fender custom shop Twin
- Mesa / Boogie
- Hughes & Kettner
- PRS
- Friedman
- Rivera
- Vox
- Orange
- Victory
Ps..if you use this idea, please send me a t-shirt!
The colour of that SG.... Damn!
Love that SG but in Mojave Fade. Gonna wait for those prices to come down in a year or so though...
I would like to see these lads to a review on the modern SG and Les Paul
What happens if you want to change out the pickups. Nothing aftermarket available at the moment that would mount to these.
I think you got it backwards you heat it up then freeze it fast just a stronger type of tempering
What's the difference between coil tapping and coil splitting?
That bend in the beginning mannnnn
How do you change the pickup height?
I normally love the jams but the one at 2:20...were you even listening to the backing track? Still enjoyed the video.
The Captain is upping his game, playing wise. I don't think I've ever seen him do tapping like that before.
Those HP models fascinate me. I know some people really don't care for them, including the staff of pretty traditionally-minded aging ex-hippies at the local guitar store near where I live in California who steered me away from the idea of getting one of those, and instead sold me a 2017 LP Standard T -- with which I'm very happy, I must admit. But those HP models do sound and look cool. I tried out an HP model of SG and aside from a little initial confusion about the robot tuners, it seemed great to me, and such a guitar is on my list of future instruments to have of my own -- if Gibson still make them by the time I the money! Thanks as always for your cool demos of all the gear.
Uhmm. How would you ever change the pickups?
Nice case! Can it protect that guitar if you chuck it out a window?
The mounting of the pickups on the back is all well and good, but that has to be a pain in the backside if you want anything other than the stock pickups in the guitar, surely?
Daym that jam
Cap'n Tap'n at the end was fckn gold
Love the Hoover Rory :))
I think it's been since the hrdx left the studio that I haven't bitched about the tone, that is until today, wicked tones here :)
you should do a gibson les paul hp 2018 vs prs like u use to do in old videos
Chappers killing it in the intro mannnn!
That SG sounded great. Also, look at Captain Lee with the hammer-on!
That outro jams :-OOOOOOOOO ... niiiiiice ...
When the vacuum came on, I lost it. Geeezus, these videos just keep getting funnier and funnier.
Are the backing tracks on Spotify?
18:30 Whatever you are paying your editor...is not enough. That bit had me in the floor laughing.
Chappers and Lee together: - "Titaaaniuuum"
Lee: - Isn't that a Peter Andre song?
