Yeah nice change with Pete, and he's an amazing player, but I prefer Chappers and Captain.. especially when Rob says he doesn't like something and you can see Lee thinking...that's cost me 100 sales ;-)
Lee and Pete are THE best combo for these demos, that intro’s insane and there’s real chemistry in the playing!Good to see Gibson getting their act together, there’s a premium on older second hand older models over new ones in my area.
@@leogibson3450 I agree to a point but people were already getting tired with Gibson's poor quality control and never listened to what the customer want in there guitars, plus prices were ridiculously high for one Gibson les paul standard. Now them dropping there price down is right at the mark, there still expensive enough to work torward to get but are still more affordable plus the quality and the guitars people want are back.
Not sure tbh... Because their expensive guitars still are expensive, but their cheaper guitars... Aren't cheap anymore. It might actually result in less sales. I expected more from the new guy. They sound really good, they made good choices... But the QC still isn't as good as it should be. Sure it couldn't be easy to fix, but then don't sell the stripped down model for almost a grand. That said, it still is a good start... It's just that the hype was a bit too high.

elevenAD Id agree with you in the metal scene, but with every young blood in different genres, Gibson and fender are still king. Especially since Gibson went back to the basics
elevenAD when they tried to do the whole modern thing everyone trashed em. As a younger player a Gibson lp is my dream guitar and most of my friends also want the Gibson’s and fenders. I’m fifteen so I think our generation Might take up an interesting.
Finally a great Les Paul that is totally affordable. Without the garbage Robot Tuners, Zero Fret, Dip Switches, Coil Tapping, Coil Splitter, Weight Relief, Chambered Body, or the ridiculous Circuit Board electronics.
Yeah, the cocksuckers wouldnt even make me one when I had 6 grand ready to rock. All I wanted was a natural back gold top with a 50's neck but they just said nope so I spoke with a dealer on Ali Express and had one made to my exacting specs for about 200 bucks and its without question on par with any Gibsons I or my buddies own. Course there was a few parts swaps and fret leveling but that is elementary for a guitar player to know how to do. I'll never purchase a new Gibson what with what's available overseas.
I got a 50's in HCS and it sounds just as I was hoping it would, Thin Lizzy, Humble Pie, Kiss ALIVE!. I'm mainly a Fender guy but when you need that thicker paintbrush, this gets it done. Not to mention honey dripping clean tones and best of all, it stays in tune! Great job Gibson!
The Tobacco Burst is much more gorgeous in-person than in photos. It's not the stark black to yellow 2 color that it appears to be, but a really beautiful pale lemon to dark orange to reddish brown edge fade. The sides of mine are not black at all.
I’ve JUST bought a Gibbo LP and I love it!! Wish I knew these were coming out for my consideration, still chuffed with mine. Get at it, you won’t regret.

Even though I never had much of a problem with the newer take on the Les Paul Standard, I do love the fact that they have gone back to basics with this new range. Because now you know exactly what you're getting from a Les Paul Standard, at a really good price point!
I know they can't do one for every possible configuration, but the one thing I like that sort of became a standard on the Epiphone side was the push/pull pots. That seems like one of those things that doesn't get in the way if you don't use it and doesn't otherwise drastically affect the guitar if you don't. I would've liked to see that become standard just because it adds so much flexibility to the guitar, but yeah, it's good to see the prices come back down to earth.
Daemon Electricity I think you have to go completely back to basics to satisfy the masses. And also it's like a hundred quid to add push pull pots afterwards. So if you add that to the 1999 pounds, you're still way under the price of last years traditionals and standards!

Waiting till I turn 50 to my first Les Paul 50's Standard Tobacco Burst ...2.5 year's to go...may make a visit across the pond to buy one in person, Thanks Anderton's music!🎯
Waited 30+ years for this! I owned EVH, Jackson’s, Deans, Zemaitis, and this has to be the most anticipated guitar I have ever wanted! I will have the 50’s Standard gold top with burstbuckers this Saturday!!! Great video!
@@jarrydee2799 I can say its worth the 3K.. I just changed the bridge pickup to bareknuckle Abraxas with the chrome cover. The neck is stock. I've got a 2012 Les Paul with the push/pull pots. It's amazing - i get a wonderful out of phase Peter Green sound from the pots. Apart from that it's absolutely my GO TO guitar. There is an issue with the second fret, it is too short on the high E side, so when i bend that string it sinks into a tiny gap between the fret and the beading (binding?) You know what i mean. I mean i can't play the Intro/Outro to Achilles Last Stand as you need to do a bend/pull off on the high E second fret. Every other part of the guitar is fabulous. Gibson DO just need to get their QC in order.
I think Pete is correct, the 50s sounds way more Les Paulish... especially with both pickups played together ... the 60s sounds funny by comparison. Just add some Grover’s or Soerzel and you got a serious rock and blues machine. Good catch Pete!!!
A LP Standard was a dream growing up. By the time I made enough money to buy one, I just didn't like what Gibson were doing. 12 years later they finally got back to making the LP Standard "right". Got one in July primarily because of this video. I had gone to PRS, I had given up on Gibby. Lee's video informed me that maybe I should give them another chance. I am glad I did, holding a Les Paul felt like going "home".
I love the back to basics approach Gibson is doing. I would hope that for the 50's designs there is an optional gold leaf stencil for the Gibson logo on the headstock as I have seen on many 59's
Hi guys. 2022 now. I really like when you demo guitars "clean" without pedals so we can hear what the guitars actually sound like. Most everyone's on line demos use too many pedals and we never get to really hear and enjoy the actual sound of the guitars. With and without reverb is a good choice, but with pedals also. These are beautiful and great sounding Gibson's. Your playing is always wonderful and enjoyable to hear. Thank You again from Mobile, Alabama.
After watching this video about 5 times deliberating I finally went to my local music store and bought the 60s bourbon burst. Absolutely fantastic color that must be seen in person. The camera doesn't do it justice
After not playing guitar or even owning one for over 10 years, I bought a Tribute satin cherryburst on 2/25/2022. Its super cool. I call him Lester. I'm saving for Lester's big brother for sometime next year. A Les Paul Standard 60's unburst. This video is awesome. God bless you all there at Anderton's. ☺💜👍
@@chrisj1602 yeah, but to me one of the WORST of the newer designs was that awful wide peghead... looked really horrendous... now I can buy another one again.
These vid's are a supplement and guide to us shop at home consumers. There is a need for lengthy play through's and many words spoken. I want to hear it all and i want to go to six or seven channels and see what is similar and what is different. They are entertainment but they are information too. I maybe should voice this on a product at a lower price point and quality than the Standard's from Gibson, but i just don't want the Anderton's crew to think that shorter is better, and i often feel that is the goal. Lee, i know your time is consumed by these vid's, and there is always a list of to do's, but keep the length up for those that still have attention spans of adults.
Pete is a phenomenal guitar player as well as Lee and is it the captain or Chappers anyways they all smoke in their own right although I would have to say that Pete has a pretty outstanding style he could probably sit in with anyone
Chappers is really good but he’s kind of an outside guy. Rebea (idk if I spelled that right) is pretty darn good. Surprised I didn’t see his name anywhere.
I think the first jam is the best of all of the Anderton jams that I've heard.Ive not heard all of them, but a lot of them.Well done, and yes,it makes me want to buy the two 50's and a sixty, with a good amp and pedals, especially the Slo.
I understand why alot of customers were pissed off with Gibson....A few of the things that shocked me was the new Boss talking about the state of the factory....no proper Ventilation and lighting in the spray area and the final checking area....and the Customer service was terrible....I hope they do well again....they are one of the main guitar makers and have the most history alongside fender....
Just got my cherry sunburst 50s from Wildwood guitars yesterday and can’t put it down. Flawless....... perfectly cut nut, beautiful top and Burstbuckers scream thru a Marshall
I bought a Lefty 60's recently, and it's in the heritage cherry sunburst even though it shouldn't be available as such. Contacted Gibson to find out why and they said it was human error. She is absolutely gorgeous and sounds amazing. Little bit rarer also so, well chuffed.
So glad Gibson is back to its roots. The past few years have been rough. A gold top with P90’s and a burst with hum-buckers is the way to go. Don’t choose, buy two!
I'll say it again Pete. The les paul in your hands is by far the best! This Intro is still second to your 58 vs 59 reissue review with Mick. Lose the purple tele, this guitar is your calling!
I got mine for 2k. Guitar Center gave me 20% off on 2/20/21. I'm retired military and they were going to give me 10% but one of the salesmen said he had a 20% card he could give away and I told them I'd walk out with the 60s Standard Triburst (they had two Bourbon bursts, one was a scratch and dent). So I went in looking for a Rockman and left with a Les Paul.
Bought mine in the iced tea finish during lockdown. By Andertons own admission it didn’t go through their QA which considering when I purchased it is no surprise so sent it back last week and received it back today. Just a totally different guitar. Thank you for amazing customer service
This sounds like what I imagine Ozzy heard when he was laying there drunk and out of it and Randy Rhoads came in and played guitar for him the very first time. It's like the guitar sound of the gods!
Nice review and performance!! I sold supreme 58 reissue custom shop one year ago. I watched this super cool video, and wanna get one of them again. I checked a music shop web and found standard series were a little bit heavy because of non relief. Custom shop selects lighter mahogany to manufacture. I prefer lighter guitar now in order to less stress for my body.
That first jam was like Kashmir meets the Halo 2 theme 10/10
Jordan Symes I never made the Kashmir/Halo connection. It seems so obvious now that I’m embarrassed to have missed it.
I think you missed the James Bond theme :-)
More like Kashmir meets 007
I thought the exact same thing!! Haha
I'm pretty sure Marty O'Donnell actually wanted to use a zep song in the original Halo and said they had an influence on him for the soundtrack :)

SO glad they changed the headstock back to the smaller/correct peghead size... last few years it was too wide and ridiculous looking.
Geoff Sweet and the neck binding is thinner too!
@@chrisj1602 yeah, but to me one of the WORST of the newer designs was that awful wide peghead... looked really horrendous... now I can buy another one again.
Geoff Sweet completely agree about the headstock!
These newer Les Pauls that Gibson is offering now are top notch, and you two are such awesome guitarists to demonstrate them all! Thank you, fellas!
Who else thinks Pete is the best guitarist here on Andertons ?
By far. Not even a competition even though there shouldn't be one...
Not sure about the best, but certainly the one I like the most! Lee and Pete just jam well together.
He has the feel for the traditional changes; good teacher, Lee is taking lessons from him and sounds right up to par, congrats Lee, Kudos Pete!
Les(s) is MORE! No robotics, no push pulls, no drilling the body, etc... And less money! Yay!!!
I love the Captain. So much passion. He just Loves what he's doing and knows his business. 😃
Realy good info id. And playing with feeling.
is there a new version for lower gibbys as well. like the studio and the tribute? damn gibson is stepping up again.
chris tian they added a couple new colors to the 2019 tribute. 4 colors total now. Look great but not sure if they changed anything.
Loved Lee’s John Mayer tapping trick!
I think the first jam is the best of all of the Anderton jams that I've heard.Ive not heard all of them, but a lot of them.Well done, and yes,it makes me want to buy the two 50's and a sixty, with a good amp and pedals, especially the Slo.
PLEASE! Release a jam track with the backing used for the first jam.I love it better than any of the other jams in your videos. Its wicked!
You could not imagine the smile on my face while watching this. Glad to see Gibson is back.
Inspiring playing Lee! I have to pick up my guitar again
today . a 50s standard goldop reached in my hand , from your stock , dear Andertons Music co . love you.
Time to get my Nick Jonas riffs ready 🤘🤘
I have the 50's in Cherry WORTH the money.
Now I'm super tempted to get another one to PG hope I find a Nice 2013-18 Traditional to use as a base...
Amazing sounding guitars!!! So happy for Gibson. I have a 92 LP Studio and I haven't heard any newer Gibson sound this good!
Just got my cherry sunburst 50s from Wildwood guitars yesterday and can’t put it down. Flawless....... perfectly cut nut, beautiful top and Burstbuckers scream thru a Marshall
Hmmm... the gold top with the P90 pickups sounded best to me
Andertons has the best impromptu jams of all the reviewing channels. Always so good to listen to.
Picking mine up in the morning. Gonna be hard to sleep tonight.
Thank You Guys for being THE best guitar Chanel on UA-cam!
I bought one the 60’s in unburst....playing since 1970’s...these new standards are the best...standards in years....
That is the EXACT model that I want! So would you say that it's finally worth the investment mate?
I bought a Lefty 60's recently, and it's in the heritage cherry sunburst even though it shouldn't be available as such. Contacted Gibson to find out why and they said it was human error. She is absolutely gorgeous and sounds amazing. Little bit rarer also so, well chuffed.
I'm just glad the poker chip is back!
-you could always just buy one and screw it into the front of the guitar...
I always remove it. I really don’t like them. But to each their own
So glad Gibson is back to its roots.
Just ordered one of those 50s with p90s, can’t wait
Congrats that’s my dream Lester
Michael Ruiz thank you. I'm very excited, have wanted a gold top for a long time
Bought mine in the iced tea finish during lockdown. By Andertons own admission it didn’t go through their QA which considering when I purchased it is no surprise so sent it back last week and received it back today. Just a totally different guitar. Thank you for amazing customer service
I got the same one. I pick mine up Tommorrow. Cheers from LA.
Hey, lots of thumbnails changed. It will make it easier to pick out Epic Deals, Captain Meets, live streams and regular demo videos now. Good job.
That's the idea! Glad you like 'em :)
Best intro jam I’ve heard from you guys
This sounds like what I imagine Ozzy heard when he was laying there drunk and out of it and Randy Rhoads came in and played guitar for him the very first time. It's like the guitar sound of the gods!
The first minute already conquered my heart and made up my mind that I want one of these guitars.
60s Bourbon Burst and a 50s Gold Top with P90s !!!!!!
Thank you Gibson, it’s about time, but thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
