wow this man is truly inspiring!! he may not be the best musician out there but as i got the chance to know about his life and his band i learned that no matter the struggle and the hard times as long as you love music you'll accomplish something in your life and touch other peoples heart! !!! and that's one of the more valuable lessons that you can get!!!
Anvil is such a killer band. The big thrash and metal bands all talk about Anvil being an influence. I always wonder why they didnt get bigger back then. They are bigger now than they were back then. John Zazula brought them to the states for they're first american gig
thanks for what your doing @ NAMM. What a great series of videos. I live in Toronto, and grew up listening to Anvil. I remember going to some of thier early club dates. I watch your vids all the time, and always get something from them. Keep Rockin'.
Steve and Robb are the real deal. They are guys like you and me who love playing. We may not reach the heights, but we always dream the dream. Atta boy!
Seriously I rely on the Tone king for Namm coverage cause he have the best coverage of the show. And he update his videos almost real time. Tone king you rock man...Keep up the good work...Would love more Carvin coverage.
Lips & Robb: NONE more dedicated! Having painfully endured as much as Anvil has, they must meet their idols & realize how shallow they are for having it so easy- whereas they're the longest lasting high school metal band, playing with same intent as they did in 1980. I doubt Lips will never surrender his Tokai & Twin & hollowV because that guy has ENVIABLE feedback MASTERY! ".....THIS is THIRTEEN!!!!!!! " \m/, \m/
A lot of this makes sense. If you want metal-like feedback, a 335 gives that sound at more reasonable volumes. And has a darker, meaner sound, but shape / size wise, is a pain to use. I think he uses pedals because of habit. And because for so long, no one made any amps that sounded good at reasonable volumes for reasonable prices. It sounded like he would take an endorsement from any company that gave him reduced price gear. It's funny how the 333(xl) vs 6260/62 is the debate so many have. I'd love to have a 6505+, but fear it might just be another amp I don't use because I can't turn it up past 0.5 and it sounds like crap below a certain threshhold.
lol he out engineered the engineer? I assume the Interviewer is a Product Mgr. Product mgr's have to have a somewhat deep understanding of the products they sell, and when Lips started to talk about gear and the importance of sound... whoosh, over his head.
Not really, it's just Lips is explaining some very outdated, well understood concepts. At this point in time this was all new to him. He's a great dude, very passionate, he obviously loves ranting about his gear.
I agree with you 100%,lets be honest,,the music is dated, lame and cheesy.Having "passion" is one thing, writing good albums is another. And these guys havent wrote anything good since Metal on Metal.
almost broke into tears again just watching this interview with lips, "Passion," this band, these guys never let go of it. Truly inspirational
I love Lips, such a great personality.
