Looks like that seal was damaged, which caused water to intrude into the new Saragossa.... For as far as I can tell not much has changed between the old and new type. Biggest improvement is the spool sizes! Great video, i like the way you do your video's lately you keep them shorter but post more often. Good for the views too 😉. Thanks once again, thumbs up 👍
If ur not planning on casting it in or reeling it under water tho, how will it preform compared to the previous model. Im sure it would be fine to give a light spray down with the hose after sw use hey?
The fact that you can immediately open the reel yourself when you get home and completely dry and lubricate it is worth its weight in gold! Splash resistant is all I want, and easy maintenance. With a Daiwa reel, water enters and remains until a technician opens it and changed all the damaged parts. And the working hours are not cheap, thanks for the video!
Thankyou for always taking one for the team! Good to see that the rumour about Shimano watering down this reel to help Twinpower sales was not true and "infinity drive" was not a worm gear setup. So no parallel foot, no wobble, better line roller design and trimmed down gear box and everything else the same? Saragosa dominates the mid-price segment then....
Was this supposed to be fully sealed? I don’t see the problem with a little water leaking in after being submerged for forty minutes. I don’t plan on storing mine underwater, so should be good
Dude can you take the line roller assembly apart and put it back together? I’ve followed the schematic to the letter on my 20000 and it’s fucked. Please 🙏🏼
You admit to tearing this reel down prior to the test. Is there anyway that you could provide a real "out of the box" test? Although you are obviously experienced at taking apart reels, there is still the possibility that the re-assembly prior to the test may have been flawed. The other thing I might mention is that the casting of the reel into a shallow rocky river may not be a true test and may have possibly damaged the reel. I am realistic and do not expect this reel to be to be waterproof by any means. Is there any construction of the new reel that was supposed to increase the amount of water intrusion?
Great video! Would be cool if you could put to test Magseal tech to see if it holds underwater. Iv tried to find tests showing magseal without any success .

Aaah Gosa, just buy a Fin Nor offshore 4500-10500 all stainless steel from handle to the main axle, head to toe, huge gear and pinion, alu body, rotor and spool, with up to 60 lbs drag and for 100 to 150 bucks a bargain and whoops you're ready for the big fish ! Forget about seals and what not, the same water you get in the Offshore you get in the Gosa too but even the Offshore may be sealed with some grease or at least that far greased that no water makes direct contact with the metal in the reel, never thought 'bout that huh 😀..? Well, Penn thought about it and they do just that, additionaly the Offshore has some drag sealing and also lever sealing. Yeah and if you need a light reel you may as well tell the fish to jump in your car, that would do the trick for you 😀 yeah we're men, light or heavy, main thing to be robust. Those foxy companies as Daiwa and Shimano made you belive that coated aluminium alloy would be just as good as brass, marine bronze or even stainless steel and the accent was put on some rubber rings, whereas water won't necessarily get in the reels or splash them but all the reels have to move their gears around for many years mostly and sometimes under heavy loads. Unbelivable that building aluminium gears, they nonetheless pretend to be the best and the worse of it all is that they even made you belive them and pay exorbitant amounts of money for Saltigas and Stellas, actualy a handle, two alu wheels, an axle and few screws to screw it up, whereas newly with Saltiga you may screw it up on one screw... But ok, they have an excuse, a poor one but still, they shave weight, although what are 50 grams more but a much stronger gear..? What's the big disadvantage of a brass or stainless steel gear or where's the advantage of a bit lighter alu or zinc..? An endurance test would be interesting, alu gear, coated even, vs brass and stainless steel gears, so those Daiwa and Shimano vs Fin Nor and other stainless steel and brass geared reels.

Same as the spinfisher......I'm not a fan of that test...I've had a slammer and spinfisher fail at the pinion....and a friends fail at the pinion due to water intrusion.....it's a luck of the draw type thing in terms of how takes on water...dunked or not. It handles rought stuff very well...but i've seen that pinion bearing seal fail.
did he just cast an entire rod/reel .... ahahahahaha my question is , if a 200 $ reel isnt really waterproof , is it really worth it to buy it vs a 100$ reel ? (salt water fishing)
I've been looking at a bigger spinning reel to match with a 15ft surf rod to throw big baits to large edibles and sharks. I don't plan to reel it under water, so as long as the seals can keep the water out while I wade out to a bank or to the end of some rocks to make a cast then I'm sold. The 14000 or 18000 should be exactly what I'm looking for.
@@TackleAdvisors Well they have short butts which helps get the reel further down, and they've got good backbone since the purpose of them is to cast heavy baits with spinners and braids. It's only a foot longer than 14ft multiplier rod, but the distance you get with braid is hard to ignore even though the spinning setup is on the expensive side. You can check out the Assassin Horizon series, really popular here in South Africa. Zoo Look Fishing on UA-cam uses them for big edibles and sharks.
@tackleadvisors you briefly mentioned the applications of the krytox grease... how do you think Krytox compares to more economical grease with PTFE additives such as Superlube? Also, do you think/find adding WS2 powder has any noticeable difference? Or is just added as a failsafe if the wet lubes breakdown/migrate from the lubed area? Cheers in advance!👍 Btw Love ya work! Always a good day when a TA review pops up in the notifications👌💯
Honestly... Never used the others... And I can't really say krytox is anything special for use on fishing reels... And yeah I always assume the grease film will only stay put for a short while and use the ws2 as a back up.. Tried moly paste and boy was that a mistake
Tackle Advisors 👌💯....only used moly in proprietary grease products..never added additional. Apparently it’s a big NO-NO to add MoS2 to grease already loaded with PTFE...can’t remember why, but remember it wasn’t good! (Although krytox used their magic to add it to their PTPE based greases, so who knows🤷♂️). Might give the Krytox are run for the hell of it....it’s only money after all!... might spice it up with some WS2 or boron nitride and see for myself! Cheers again TA💯👍

Great review when i saw you cast that rod/reel i was like no way did he do that. lol i had to replay again to believe it.
Thats not an old gosa. Theres one more before that.
Yup... That was the first reel I reviewed on the forums
did he just cast an entire rod/reel .... ahahahahaha
my question is , if a 200 $ reel isnt really waterproof , is it really worth it to buy it vs a 100$ reel ? (salt water fishing)
This reel is still very waterproof, this was a very serious test that basically only vanstalls Penn torques and maybe tsunami salt xs could pass
No reel is fully waterproof.
15 footer to pull on sharks... Ouch.... That's would give the shark a huge mechanical advantage no?
@@TackleAdvisors Well they have short butts which helps get the reel further down, and they've got good backbone since the purpose of them is to cast heavy baits with spinners and braids. It's only a foot longer than 14ft multiplier rod, but the distance you get with braid is hard to ignore even though the spinning setup is on the expensive side. You can check out the Assassin Horizon series, really popular here in South Africa. Zoo Look Fishing on UA-cam uses them for big edibles and sharks.
My gosa's drag is hard to turn, is that normal?
@tackleadvisors you briefly mentioned the applications of the krytox grease... how do you think Krytox compares to more economical grease with PTFE additives such as Superlube? Also, do you think/find adding WS2 powder has any noticeable difference? Or is just added as a failsafe if the wet lubes breakdown/migrate from the lubed area? Cheers in advance!👍
Btw Love ya work!
Cheers again TA💯👍
excellent as usual mate...thank you for sharing!!!
Bro it seems new gosa is full of water insise which means its failed ...so is the old gosa better ???
Ughhh... It's the same thing..the old one wouldn't be able to handle that
@@TackleAdvisors so they are the same you mean ?
