Great note for note rendition of my favourite Jon Lord solo. Well done! And as much as I love Ritchie Blackmore -and think he's the best of all time- I really like Steve Morse's job here. No easy task taking on one of the best guitar solos ever recorded!
Sheer virtuosity and vibrant talent..what a pleasure to hear Deep Purple still going strong after all these years and notice that strong friendship bonds between Ian Gillian and Steve Morse...the latter brought a very constructive attitude and philosophy to the band and even if he can never take Blackmoore's place he has given the band a new chance.
Somebody's shouting up at a mountain Only my own words return Nobody's up there, it's a deception When will I ever learn? I'm alone here With emptiness, eagles and snow Unfriendliness chilling my body And whispering pictures of home Wandering blindly how can they find me Maybe they don't even know My body is shaking anticipating The call of the black hooded crow I'm alone here With emptiness, eagles and snow Unfriendliness chilling my body And taunting with pictures of home Here in this prison of my own making Year after day I have grown Into a hero, but there's no worship Where have they hidden my throne I'm alone here With emptiness, eagles and snow Unfriendliness chilling my body And screaming out pictures of home. Ahhh... best song of Deep Purple!
Gillans awesome! Most singers at his age sing songs a step lower but NO he plays it just how it was written and even though he struggles its still AWESOME!
This videos proves it... I would rather see Deep Purple in the average age of 60 live than any and I mean ANY new band in their 20's or 30's. That's how good they are!
Yes but much more since Steve is in the band. Do You remember last concerts with Ritchie? Sad to say because i like also Ritchie, so i often listen to old concerts like Made in Japan but since Steve is in the band its so nice to see them all having so much fun playing together. Log life DEEP PURPLE
hhhaha I saw him in concert the last month and I told you, he sang muuuuuch better than he sang in this concert and also in the video recorded on 2000 and when he still was with balckmoore. I have my videos of the concert but I havent had time to put them online however. Look the concert videos from Peru at this year. Gillan sang quite well, in highway star and strange kin of woman he did his screams OMG I was on the heaven
Well i was drunk when i wrote that. So sorry for any offence, but I still was surprised to hear such a God sounding like that, guess it just comes with getting old. and i couldn't do any better myself.
Too bad Sir.Gillan can´t sing as he used too.i went to their concert in 2011,i´ve really missed Child In Time...but anyway... the fact he can´t reach these notes like before, won´t make him a less kickass singer...
@perromanchado Jon Lord may be one of the finest keyboardists in the history of rock music, but Don Airey is no slouch either. The band sounds so solid....
Just see for yourself at 3:30 . If I were a musician I'd give an arm and a leg to have him in my band (offer exclusive to Roger Glover only - Def Leppard members need not apply).
Well i was drunk when i wrote that. So sorry for any offence, but I still was surprised to hear such a God sounding like that, guess it just comes with getting old. and i couldn't do any better myself.
God Save Morse . Bmore is dead baby,,,is dead !!marked history, even Stombringer, but if it were up to him Purple would be dead !! Purple is 100 Xs more than him ... Morse revitalized Purple's soul and several tracks, like Pictues in Home and so many others ... his footprint, speed and virtuosity are too much ... I prefer that Bmore is forgotten, he deserves, for his stellarism and grumpyness, he deserves .. Bmore is dead ... is dead
I'm not too sure about that. It's the same model and design. Maybe it was just the lighting. It seems to vary from pure sunburst to a strange bluish/purple hue with changes in the lighting. By the way, Roger looks like he's having a blast, doesn't he?!
@tmgrodrigo Guitarist is not Blackmore. He looks older now and he never preferred to smile at stage :| You know I was at Deep Purple show in Russia at 2010 and can say that Steve is AWESOME! He is great guitar player, very artistic, charismatic and he brings even more drive to this legendary band. As for Gillan voice, it deserves honor at least. Yes it is not as bright and strong now but it is still great. It terribly amazes when original band play alive songs of my youth!
The world's most underrated bass player: Roger Glover.
Their are old... nobody will replace them... cannot stop thinking about that.
Best mood situation, can have joke and laugh during the show. This type of situation the fans want.

Неиссякаемая энергия! Лучшие навсегда! ❤❤❤
Look how Gillan & Glover are having a laugh with Steve Morse. That would never have happened with Ritchie in the band.
Les incomparables, Les meilleurs!!! ❤❤❤

It's great to see Purple having fun and smiling again.Thats what rock'n'roll is supposed to be,great music and everyone having a good time.
Superb! I'm glad to see that Steve and Don bring some fresh sound to the group!I'm going to see them on 1st of November
3 x im Concert - wunderbar!
Esta musica sencillamente es excelente

Ahhh... best song of Deep Purple!
I've listened to this song since 1972... and I still get shivers listening to Glover's little solo at 3:30!
Superbe, excellent! ❤❤❤
Great song, great band, amazing musicians ... legends
People commenting on Ian's voice need to remember he was 61 during this performance!!
Its really impressive that he sounds better now at 74 than he did 13 years ago.

Don Airey played Jon Lord's original solo note-for-note from the original Machine Head album. Very nice homage. Excellent.
Gillans awesome! Most singers at his age sing songs a step lower but NO he plays it just how it was written and even though he struggles its still AWESOME!

Perfect!
Totally agree with you...
Original formation (1968-1969) is Blackmore, Evans, Simper, Lord and Paice. It was the Mark I. Mark II was Blackmore, Gillan, Glover, Lord and Paice.
DP with london symphony the best version ever of POH
Its called 'Things I never said' and it appears on the album 'Rapture of the deep - 2cd tour edition'
very nice... the guy who posted this video forgot to say its pictures of home + things i've never said...
The music stills rock, but I am very sad because Gillan has lost his voice...
Best bass player ever! Roger Glover the Master
cool cool.
They still got it.

It's shot at 2 different gigs though, see? Steve's guitar is a different one at 3:50. Still awesome though!
hhhaha I saw him in concert the last month and I told you, he sang muuuuuch better than he sang in this concert and also in the video recorded on 2000 and when he still was with balckmoore. @perromanchado Jon Lord may be one of the finest keyboardists in the history of rock music, but Don Airey is no slouch either. The band sounds so solid....
Roger Glover. Te pasaste

Okay... I thought I was the only one thinking this.
It's Steve Morse.
amazing, but that is Steve Morse not Richie Blackmore,
Still amazing none the less
Kind of weird how Gillan is not that great on the lower high vocals, but his all out wail still sounds great.
I meant he sang better than he last concert with balckmoore
Just see for yourself at 3:30 . If I were a musician I'd give an arm and a leg to have him in my band (offer exclusive to Roger Glover only - Def Leppard members need not apply).
That's not ritchie blackmore on guitar is it?
This one is on gods I-pod
gillan is god =)

Comparing to the current condition of Ian's voice, he sounds amazing here!
what's the name of the second song?
guurf2 things i never said
Mr Paice rules (INFINITE) :D
@rushy548 I think his voice sounds great to be honest!
@Andytheminstrel His name is Don Airey; God Lord is enjoying his retirement :P but he will be joining the WHO CARES supergroup project!
no Jon, Ian or Richie :(
Gillan is losing his voice. You cant hear the same power and sound 20 years ago :(
Who's playing the Hammond? He's no Lord, but he rocks.
... That's not richie... Who is that?
old mate Jax0r Steve FUCKING Morse
Dixie Grits , Dixie Dregs , Steve Morse Band.
Man I loved them through the years but it is TIME to hang it up The sound like shit now
Am I really the only one who thinks Ian Gillan sings out of tune. It's embarrassing.

Ian Gilan,,,, bien con su voz mejorada, eso le hace muy bien a Deep Purple
Ian Gilan,,,, but his voice improved, it makes it very well to Deep Purple
It will take at least one hundred years before a band that can be compared to Deep Purple will be born again.
nn mi piace il nuovo chitarrista e i veri deep purple non sono qusti this is a cover
of very deep purple
daaamn gillan ruined his voice more than plant, still there both GODS
he's not blackmore... he's steve morse :)
