my favorite thing about steve morse is no matter what the speed of the solo/song is he picks every note in it...the only time he doesn't pick is when he is string bending! Amazing!
@GeorgVanHalen Rod Evans (vocal), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboard), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) & Ian Paice (drums). That was the original lineup. Ian Gillan (vocal), Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Airey (Keyboard), Ian Paice (drums). This is the current line-up.
Like David Coperfield, magically got one at a second!!! He is VERY professional, I have the luck of saw DP here in Spain last September 12 (2008) and Paice drums sounds like firecrackers. The sound they have is incredible. You may think I´m a drummer but I´m not, I admire them all Specially Steve Morse. cheers to all DP fans!
Yes, you are absolutely right. But the classic line-up is the "Mark II", consisting of Ian Gillian (vocal), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums).
Undoubtedly the BEST version I've heard of this beautiful song. Is Gillan singing in a lower key than in other versions? Sounds like it because he has trouble hitting those high notes now - and his voice very strained on high notes on other versions of this song.
I've always loved Steve Morse...better than Richie Blackmore, in fact. I was skeptical when I heard that Jon Lord was leaving the band. I thought no one could take his place. But frankly, I am completely amazed by Don Airey. I don't know if anyone could have been a better replacement for Don Lord than he has been. Rapture of the Deep is the best DP album to come out in the past 15 years.
It's a shame, I think a lot of fans like Morse, it's just that there are people who never got over Blackmore leaving Purple and are more Blackmore fans than Purple fans, which again is a shame. This is a great track, it's actually one of my favourite Purple tracks (along with 'Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming' - another Morse song) I personally am a big fan of Steve Morse, one of the best guitarists I've ever seen play (I am lucky enough to have seen Purple with Morse twice).
@GeorgVanHalen A few years ago Roger Glover was telling me how they used to be called "Roundabout" and that the name still sticks with him as while the band goes round and round the members jump on and off onto different bands, come back, go again...
can't really agree. I think all the songs on the album Rapture of the Deep are quite good. Especially for a band that's been around for almost 40 years !
@Achilllius Kai den einai mono Purple.Einai kai Whitesnake, einai kai Priest, einai kai Maiden. EEE RE ta gerontia.Pali sto podi tha mas exoun olo to kalokairi Pali kala pou Priest kai Snakes tha einai mazi. ROCK FOREVER
I know it's part of the song mate, calm down. All I'm saying is that a great song could be made perhaps even better, in my opinion, if Morse's guitar line was unaccompanied by Gillan.
Sweet riff. I love the solo, but the I'm sorry to say that the rest of the songs on this album are crap compared to the old stuff (Except from Rapture Of The Deep of course)
@Petraschek1 Rod Evans (vocal), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboard), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) & Ian Paice (drums). That was the original lineup. Ian Gillan (vocal), Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Airey (Keyboard), Ian Paice (drums). This is the current line-up.
Deep Purple is like the best band ever. i got the dvd of the show they made in montreux, and you know what, i was at montreux when they did that show, me and my dad were like, OMFG, i really want to hear them live cuz my dad is like 50 years old, so DP is one of his fav. bands, and im 14 and i love it too
@sejemandhaha - Ian Gillan is a big part of why Deep Purple become the monster they was in the 70's, Roger Glover has been apart of Deep Purple / Rainbow just as much as any other member, Don Airey has a long history with the bandmembers and is approved by Jon Lord himself. As for Steve Morse he has done a fine job carrying on the band after Ritchie Blackmore. I believe they have every right to keep the name even dough the band has had ALOT of bandmembers in and out.
Jon Lord Left in 2002, and is currently working on music with symphonys, unfortunaly not Don Airey nor anyone in the world can recreate the Mr.Lord Sound. Its Jus not purple without him :(
Dude! Ian Paice can do more with just one drumstick than many highly praised drummers with the two sticks XD. Long live Mr. Paice, one of a kind and one of the best!
Gillan ruined this great song. He is no longer capable of singing live. I was at their concert last year, and that proved to be true. Although he was great singer before.
Looks like when Spinal Tap left hard rock and became a jazz band. I always liked Steve Morse and all, but he never had charisma or even looked like a guitar hero. He looks like a guy working in a guitar store. DP without Ritchie Blackmore is like Van Halen without Eddie. It simply can't be. Period.
come on gyus he is a professional drumer!!!he plays drums up to 30 years(i think).he has the experience to react in occasions like this...if he was a beginner, maybe he would stop in the middle of the song to take another stick....
i saw them last summer...I want to see them so bad...most amazing show ive ever seen...and ive seen so many of the old masters like styx, megadeth, black sabbath with dio...it topped them all
I am impressed...i grow up with Deep Purple...years 70s...so now more then 40 years later this song really was a blow in my face when i heard it just by coincidence
I agree with you caspianrex. I Would have never thought of DP without Blackmore and Lord. But I am impressed with Morse and Airey. The band sounds mature.
Great. I love them! They're still great, I like this song and I'm glad to see them playing live their new album
I am simply amazed that Ian would be 61 years old at the time of this concert/video. He still sounds and looks absolutely amazing
my favorite thing about steve morse is no matter what the speed of the solo/song is he picks every note in it...the only time he doesn't pick is when he is string bending! Amazing!
Steve is always so happy...
@GeorgVanHalen Rod Evans (vocal), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboard), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) & Ian Paice (drums).
That was the original lineup.
Ian Gillan (vocal), Steve Morse (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Don Airey (Keyboard), Ian Paice (drums).

The grace, with which Ian Paice recover after loosing a stick is stunning :-)
steve and don are worthy successors to ritchie and jon... they bring out the best in each other on stage and in the studio.
Awesome as always, Purple. Looking forward for the new album!
all Deep Purple line-ups had good stuff to offer including the current one! All their latest albums have been really good.
I like how moorse bring that edge to his songs, it gives a good feel and flow for the song
Like David Coperfield, magically got one at a second!!!

agreed to the last few posts
Airey & Morse are great and a great fit, looking forward to the next cd, I believe this line up has now hit it's stride
Yes, you are absolutely right. But the classic line-up is the "Mark II", consisting of Ian Gillian (vocal), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Jon Lord (Keyboards) and Ian Paice (drums).
just a monster band
With over 60 years, they still rock hard!
Undoubtedly the BEST version I've heard of this beautiful song. Is Gillan singing in a lower key than in other versions? Sounds like it because he has trouble hitting those high notes now - and his voice very strained on high notes on other versions of this song.

i saw them two days ago in denmark.. it was the best thing ever so good performance
Йен-просто легенда рока
THE BEST DEEP PURPLE'S SONG AFTER 2000
I just love it when Paice drops his stick and still keeps the beat solid as rock!
I saw them live today...this song was damn awesome!!!
FFFUCK!! WHAT A GROOVE!!! when the rythmic section enters they kick all asses of every rock band on this world...
I've always loved Steve Morse...better than Richie Blackmore, in fact. I was skeptical when I heard that Jon Lord was leaving the band. I thought no one could take his place. Roger Glover is a killer bassist.. damn..

can't stop loving them every second
Tirando essa musica pro Proximo show da Counter ClockWise =)
Talking about new albums. The next Deep Purple record "Now What!?" is to be out now in April 2013. Have your eyes and ears open for it !
Steve Morse is just sublime. People think Petrucci is the demon of alternate picking and technique... Morse is the Daddy though.
i like this song
1.5 Million copies sold by rapture of the deep acording to Gillan.Gonna see them 3d time here in Greece.CANT WAIT.
EEE RE GLENTIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is great !
Иан Пейс монстр бля!!!! Дип Пёрпл мазафака...круть!!!

Paice keeps dropping those sticks, hehe.
@lekezenman New? He's been the guitarist for 17 years...
yes, but he didn't really miss the beat. Nobody at the concert could have noticed that .. and that takes a pro !
Wow! Cool! :-D :-D :-D
0:30 Ian Paice dropped The stick
but Chuck Norris give him another one so that's no problem
intro sounds so much like Gates of Babylon....But what a great fuking song!!!
Maybe just after Rick Allen of Def Leppard, don't you think?
4:34 lol
even Paice can drop a drum stick.....
Well, that was completely unneccesary. I happen to have nothing but respect and admiration for this band, I was only voicing an opinion.
How does it call? Thanks man!
Why is it called Deep Purple when the only original member is the drummer?
I know it's part of the song mate, calm down. All I'm saying is that a great song could be made perhaps even better, in my opinion, if Morse's guitar line was unaccompanied by Gillan.
al mounstro Ian paice se le cae la baqueta al comenzar a tocar fijense jejeje
está ya mayor
where's Jon Lord??
I feel sorry for you... You are a fan of music or fan of the names?
i meant again so bad*

0:30~0:33 what happend?
LOL! look at 0:31! but he is god anyway
Sweet riff. I love the solo, but the I'm sorry to say that the rest of the songs on this album are crap compared to the old stuff (Except from Rapture Of The Deep of course)
@andresc228 Not rare, coming from an ex Rainbow keyboards player :)
Gillan's a good singer but he needs to shut up during the guitar solos and let Morse do his thing...
Hey Deep Purple guys, please go teach to these young bands of megalomaniac wankers the real meaning of Rock'n Roll !
kid song...
@Petraschek1 Rod Evans (vocal), Nick Simper (bass), Jon Lord (keyboard), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar) & Ian Paice (drums).

Probably because Paice recovered so perfectly from it you never would've noticed!
Deep Purple is rising again !
Acepto que Don Airey toca muy bn, pero JON LORD es JON LORD!!!
No menosprecio :O, sólo es el grito de una fanática *o*

Don Airey is an INCREDIBLE player...but I miss Jon Lord, still! Steve morse is simply spectacular..
come on gyus he is a professional drumer!!!he plays drums up to 30 years(i think).he has the experience to react in occasions like this...if he was a beginner, maybe he would stop in the middle of the song to take another stick....

This is of the 2005 Rapture of the Deep album, Blackmore had left by then, he left in 1993 I think.
Steve morse wrote the guitar bits on this song.
sounds a bit like the beatles. Got to get you into my life!!!!
I was alone, I took a ride, I didn't know what I would find there.
then you should continue to listen to their other songs...a great band...personally my favorite..be it with morse or blackmore..
I met Ian Gillan and Tony Iommy in 2009, in Yerevan, Ararat restourant!!!!! It was a fantastic day!!
I honestly never noticed the dropping of the drum stick. Until I read 2 pages of comments about it xD
ian paice ha fatto cadere una bacchetta ma è sempre un ottimo batterista...c***o!
me gusta me gusta!!! grandi i deep purple!
No blackmore, no John Lord, its no Purple, sorry
Deep Purple!!! One of their classics.
Thanks.
