Don Airey is a beast. OK JON LORD WAS DEEP PURPLE. but hey guys ? Don Airey: Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc ...he is the MAN , the GREATEST. and he was the obvious choice for DP.
I was listening to this song for the first time tonight on the way home from work on Grooveshark. I've kinda been living in a cave when it comes to amazing music like this primarily due to the fact that my parents had absolutely terrible taste in music but somehow I got music genes from them that took me to Berklee College of Music.. Love these guys! Anyways, I was thinking about their Vietnam days since my boss was a Vietnam vet and all I could think about was sticking it to the man...funny thing is that within 5 mins of that thought I got pulled over and got two tickets for something I already got a ticket for two weeks earlier in the outside county. Just dumb inspection stuff, my car has been sitting for the whole year I was in NYC working....but oooh the man...oh man
Anybody who want to see and hear how a REAL rock band works, just check this out. From the DP Live at the Montreaux Jazz Festival-2006 DVD. 2 full hours of stunning musicanship and showmanship.
Sorry if I love this performance like ever great show ! they are so great ...Rip Jon Lord and Blackmore head his choice ! ...but Purple lives allready !
Think Airey and Morse have fitted in perfectly. Just wish Gillan was 20 years younger 'cause the band is obviously so much more relaxed now and enjoying it.
Ya know, if you were in a band - you personally - and tried following deep purple onstage - you'd probably discover that they are masters of their trade. Period. There is no 'following this act'. They are what they are, try enjoying, and not comparing...Just a thought.
They replaced him 3 times? They couldnt ever replace Blackmore. I am a True Fan. Its no Wonder why they have been thru 3 guitar players. 47 years old, I grew up on Deep Purple.
ONE deep purple "Ian Peace" others only imitations of the originals, inimitable and incomparable John Lord, Ritchie Blackmore and another planet. Ian Gillan now voiceless. Oh my god the 70 years'
Don is, realistically, the only keyboardist who could have replaced Jon. The guys in the band all knew him, he played with Roger in Rainbow, and with Ian P with Gary Moore, and for all I know, backed up Big Ian at some point too. Perfect fit. The only choice.
Well, having read most of the comments I can only say this. It´s not bad at all. Some comments on the performance of the "new guy´s" are way to harsh. They do a pretty good job, but..... Yes, there is something missing. Technically there is nothing wrong but it lacks flavor. The magic between Blackmore and the Maestro Jon Lord is not something that can be recreated without them. It´s a matter of feeling and shades of sound. It´s good but no. It´s not the same...
Morse is a much better Teamplayer then Blackmore with better control of speed and original melody. The bluesy sound is also, for me, a better choice than good old Blackmore's.
i think you have a good point there , but the driving force of the purple were LORD and BLACKMORE ...and they would always be, and that´s my real point...and now without them it´s just a joke.....it´s true what you say about ACDC , but the driving force is the YOUNG brothers, and they are still in the band, those are their songs....i´ve no problem with gillan doing purple songs, but not on the FAKE PURPLE that they are now...and if they are oing it for the money...it´s a shame
right here it goes the Blackmore era of Deep Purple especially 1970-1974 is the stuff of legend, a rock legend. Blackmore created his own style of guitar, he is a genius. I know your angry for some reason, heres what I think Steve Morse is good but you can't replace ritchie he is an absolute legend, it would be like trying to replace Iommi in Sabbath it can't be done and Mk iii is better than the morse era as blackmore is a better songwriter and Glenn and cov are better singers than Ian is now.
Let's be honest, deep purple, I love them, but they are so far from what they once were. Most notably, Ian Gillian. I love the guy, amazing frontman and once upon a time an amazing singer. But come on he sounds like he's doing karaoke covers of his own music. And this was almost 20 years ago, now can't be better. I know, old age after years of an amazing, none stop music career will do this, I understand and I'm not hating on the guy. I'm being real. It's time to put your music career behind you. You're not doing your legacy justice by dragging your career any further
It's great! I think Gillan sill sings right(of course not the same like in the 60s,but still brilliant)and the band sounds fantastic-especially the Glover-Morse pair!
Ahh.... Damn, Don Airey always makes me wanna be an owner of a Hammond or at least a Nord Electro 3. Wish I could play like that and create something like that solo..... Hopefully one day! x)
look they have to do smoke on the water, highway star and lazy.any MK have to do that songs.just like ACDC have to do highway or STONES have to do satisfaction.MKIII and MIV did them beacuse they had to.but with morse they don´t bring anything new just old tunes.and BATTLE RAGES ON kicks every morse´s album asssss.for sure..and it´s the most stupid reason to do old tunes because the audience never saw them.they Still have to do something new...SMOKE , HIGHWAY , LAZY plus NEW STUFF
you can't silence the voice of truth! Burn blows away any of the steve morse albums. however good, and simply put Blackmore is god whereas Morse is merely good, sorry but ritchie is always better than any shredder
Truth: No more Blackmore nor Lord. But hay, we got Steve and Don. Steve ain't Blackmore, but Steve is darn good, very different play style, but darn good. Airey is also fantastic piano player. I completely disagree with bloodforgodz comment.
Deep Purple no matter which line-up is something I like to see at a concert. This is going to my favorites!
He is no Lord, but he is still the GREAT Don. Fantastic performance from the whole band. 5 stars!
Fantastic performance! This band still got it!
Don Airey is a beast. OK JON LORD WAS DEEP PURPLE. but hey guys ? Don Airey: Gary Moore, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, etc ...he is the MAN , the GREATEST. and he was the obvious choice for DP.
I know right? He was the chosen one by Jon Lord
indeed
Not forgetting his amazing work with John hiseman
power full, deep purple is perfect rock band

Mean organ intro ! This song kicks ass, and is (sadly) too much underrated !
Sorry if I love this performance like ever great show ! they are so great ...Rip Jon Lord and Blackmore head his choice ! ...but Purple lives allready !

Ya know, if you were in a band - you personally - and tried following deep purple onstage - you'd probably discover that they are masters of their trade. Period. There is no 'following this act'. They are what they are, try enjoying, and not comparing...Just a thought.
Paice rules supreme!

They replaced him 3 times? They couldnt ever replace Blackmore. I am a True Fan. Its no Wonder why they have been thru 3 guitar players. 47 years old, I grew up on Deep Purple.
No doubt that the best DP shows were when Jon and Ritchie had their battles between `68 and `72, but this DP is a lot better than the reunited Mk II.
During MK III ,they only git one song that's great. BURN
AWESOME :D !!!
0:27 seconds..... Eargasm!

Deep Purple isnt Deep Purple without Jon Lord and Ritchie Blackmore
Don Airey
MORSE IS MIGHT!!!

ritchie blackmore = LEGEND!!!!!!!!!

its not the same without blackmoore and john lord.
I wouldn't call ritchie fumble fingered.
you got nothin
Awful and good? That`s a bit of a controversy don`t you think?:P
I prefer deep purple with steve morse than ritchie blackmore
right here it goes the Blackmore era of Deep Purple especially 1970-1974 is the stuff of legend, a rock legend. Blackmore created his own style of guitar, he is a genius. LOL
I think he's just... old...
NO!!!!!
Holy Mother of God is Morse great. Better than elf Blackmore
mkiii is well better than the steve morse stuff

Horrible Guitar Sound ...Richie Blackmores Version is 100 X Better and i don`t like that Humbucker sound , its just Horrible to my Ears
*horrible guitar sound hahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhaha mate just dont comment please
Hmm. Odd. I think Blackmore's fumble-fingered solos fit much better in DP than this guy does.
è vero, ma se la cava anche lui
i like morse as a solo artist , but he is not in the style of deep purple. too heavy.
Good music but a terrible sound!
the dvd sounds great though
I don't like it...they seems more the dream theater than deep purple..
LEARN SPANISH
Adios.
your 14, you know nothing about it
Жалкая пародия на Ричи Блекмора (((((((((
IAN GILLAN HAS NO AGE !!! LONG LIVE THE KING TO ROCK, LONG LIVE THE GREATEST BAND EVER !!!
I'm SO GLAD MY FAVORITE BAND STILL ROCKS WITHOUT JON LORD AND BLACKMORE !!! THE GREATEST TEAM EVER !!! INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE
3:44
Best Hammond Solo EVER!
It's great!
I think Gillan sill sings right(of course not the same like in the 60s,but still brilliant)and the band sounds fantastic-especially the Glover-Morse pair!
I like this line up better than the original
Ahh.... Damn, Don Airey always makes me wanna be an owner of a Hammond or at least a Nord Electro 3. Wish I could play like that and create something like that solo..... Hopefully one day! x)
He uses pretty much the same sound which Jon Lord used between 1985-2002. Are you familiar with that period?
look they have to do smoke on the water, highway star and lazy.any MK have to do that songs.just like ACDC have to do highway or STONES have to do satisfaction.MKIII and MIV did them beacuse they had to.but with morse they don´t bring anything new just old tunes.and BATTLE RAGES ON kicks every morse´s album asssss.for sure..and it´s the most stupid reason to do old tunes because the audience never saw them.they Still have to do something new...SMOKE , HIGHWAY , LAZY plus NEW STUFF

is it just me or is Glover way too distorted
The original intro to Lazy
Вот это челы! И чувак за Лорда пилит нехило!
Well, Blackmore has been replaced 3 times in the past allready, and the band and their true fans have still survived with success.
