my daughter 12 years old had a autism, always quiet, not even speak sometimes but when she heard this song with steve guitar solo she cried.......its so deep she sad to me
Beautiful story, n feelings I can identify with! Thanks for sharing that. I wish we could get off the merry go 'round of "he's better than..." and just appreciate the beauty.
Just WOW. Morse is incredible with this great great tune. This song never got the accolades it truly deserves. To me it’s up there with the best of them. Cudos to deep purple.
One of the best songs on my all favourite list. The way, Mr. Morse handles his instrument is absolutely phenomenal. That round, soft sound extruding, from the neck pickup gives mee chills, every time. My 1987 MIJ Charvel Mod. 4M, beefed up w SD pickups tries so hard to reach that. SHR-1n gets preeetty close, thou. I'm so sorry to hear Steve's wife's medical issues and that his time @ DP's lineup is now over, but ... like always, family comes first, no matter what. God bless you Steve and your loved ones ... and strength, through the times to come.
Just beautiful. Steve and Gillan are absolute forces of nature. Roger and Paicey are legends and the best ever. Roger’s bass in this beautiful tune is astonishingly good throughput. It doesn’t get any better than this.
Dearest Steve Morse Sir . I have just read that you have left Deep Purple .My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.Thank you for the greatest guitar solo arrangment ever in rock music, from beginning to end.Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming has the best guitar solo ever.It plays on my mind everyday since I first heard it in 1996.By the way , I met you once at Singapore Changi Airport. You are a good man.You made the world a better place with your guitar.God bless you and your loved ones Sir Steve Morse.Love and Prayers.
this solo IMHO competes very well with David Gilmour's "Comfortably Numb" in the category of musical greatness, intensity of expression, and uniqueness of each performance. just FYI: i'm a huge fan of both Deep Purple (in all its personal variations) and Pink Floyd, particularly David Gilmour. I've listened to many live versions and covers of David's solo and i do stand in my opinion that Steve created something monumental, something on the same level as David plays.
Interesting comparison, in fact just yesterday I told my guitar teacher I wanted to learn this song because it’s real melodic, just like Comfortably Numb
Many years have passed, and I always keep coming back to this video. The magic of listening to this never disappears. Steve Morse made my favorite Deep Purple song and solo.
This song is so powerful it always moves me to tears. It is so beautiful with Steve's unmatchable singing guitar work the finest you will ever hear. We were at the Perth concert on this Australian tour and it was DP's finest ever and the best version of this song ever. Every time I listen it stays revolving round in my head for days after. Thank you Steve for bringing this song and so much amazing music and pleasure to so many followers. DP and everyone will miss you but our thoughts are with you now as you look after your good lady.
This guitar work awakened my desire to play guitar when I was 10 years old. Today I'm 37 and have been playing for 23 years. Thank you Steve, for changing my life.
of all live performances of this song, i think Steve Morse's solo execution in this concert is the absolute best. by the way, did anyone notice that in all live concerts Steve's solo is NEVER the same, always unique and always the top of guitar mastery?
I still can't comprehend how steve morse can create such a masterpiece. I have said before and i will say it again, they couldn't have found a better person to replace RB
Yep. I actually prefer this lineup over any that included RB. I realize RB was a pioneer and that DP was largely his "child." Its just Steve Morse balances the rest of DP Band's sound so well. I remember Steve Morse from his fusion days and would never have imagined his fitting in so well with a more basic hard rock group, but here you have it.
@@pacoarias3102 yea bro, Steve morse is unbelievable, i mean he taught jon petricci after all. But RB is still iconic as well, deep purple wont be so popular without him. Vocals wise i actually prefer David coverdale though
@@nonutemperor It's funny. I was about to type WTF as a response to your preference of Coverdale and then I realized I had just gave preference to SM over the driving force behind the creation of the band, so yeah.... BTW, I am actually a big fan of the underappreciated Coverdale featured Album "Come Taste the Band." If u find a moment, I'd appreciate learning if any true DP fan besides myself liked it. No rush or pressure. Just curious
To think that that this was the fresh, reinvigoration of Deep Purple that turned things around for them and set them on a new path so successfully- and yet it's already 25 years plus! So grateful to Steve and his commitment, and to the rest of the band for doing what was necessary. Best wishes to your wife, I hope it will work out well; and thank you for what you've brought to my ears 🙂
Listen to Piotr Grudizinski's final solo of Second Life Syndrome (studio version). See him play it live too, as well as Reality Dream III, The curtain falls and many more. His emotional Play and his modest behaviour on stage made him to one of the most sympathic musicians I have ever seen. I'm thankful that I had once the chance to see Riverside live at Loreley before Piotr suddenly died in 2016.

Been a fan since DP mark 1. DP in rock my favourite album/treasured wallet album photo signed by them. Highway Star favourite studio song( my organ playing mum couldn’t understand how I’ve loved Bach since childhood then DP until the late great Jon Lord talked about it on a Classic Albums episode on Australian SBS tv in the early 2000s, mentioning a possible Bach arpeggio in the middle!) Was fortunate to meet my favourite rock bassist and singer (+ Steve Morse) at a Brisbane concert some years ago and told Ian how this version of Sometimes… touches my ( then 60+) soul which it still does. Have loved 55 years of their music even nicknaming one of my hearing aids in their honour(other one Led Zeppelin/number 2 on my favourites list). Thanks fellas for all the pleasure you’ve given this old rocker.
Just fantastic Mary. I’ve been following you for some time and it finally appears you are where you deserve namely reaching a great sized audience. Well done for all your hard work, dedication and battle through your troubles. God bless xxxxx
