It's not unbalanced, It's just that every other character is playing SF III, while Chun-li and Yun are playing a Beat n' up and Remy, Twelve, Sean are playing Dark Souls
Edit: Q is playing Dark Souls while using a heavy armor
If characters aren't interacting the way the game says they should(for good and bad) that means they're broken.
Appreciate the comparisons, tho.
@@janematthews9087 Sorry, I was being kinda ironic when I said it wasn't unbalanced, but I'm glad you liked the comparison. Thanks, bro!
Not including Q is crazy.
Sean... Sean is dealing with the balance patch that finally caught up with him from 2nd Impact. It was huge.

No, thabk you for being a viable part of FG UA-cam.
You've been putting banger FGC videos for while. To have 60k subs is a disrespect.
Really well produced video! Subbed to the channel.
I can't believe people in the FGC say Virtua Fighter is too complex to get into when this is what they've been playing for decades.
they had to use up all their brainspace to memorize Third Strike minutia so there's no room left to learn new stuff
Virtua fighter is too complex and it feels not rewarding, 3rd strike is complex but fun.
@@RyuShinkuuHadoken I very much disagree about VF feeling unrewarding to play, especially when you land a tetsuzanko or somersault kick.
Tbf a a lot of oldheads in the FGC probably play 2D fighters way more.
So going from a 2D game to a 3D game can often be a daunting or even a scary experience to someone who's already acostumed to a certain type of fighting game.
One of the main reasons why I don't really play Tekken despite being a good game.
As a Tekken fan I think this is more Tekken players saying that.
LESGOOOOOOOO
3rd Strike is broken as fuck, but it's great

Actually he has 6 videos highlighting every CvS2 groove, and that comes with a perfect comparison between PARRY and JUST DEFENSE, on the P-Groove video.
I started dabbling in 3rd Strike a week ago and its insane how many videos I get recommended that are a day or 2 or a few hours old with high views. This feels like I picked up the latest SF entry not a decades old game.
Third Strike was a product of it's time and those of us who remember the 90's before UA-cam and social media associate it with much better times than we experience today. Feels like everything was better back then except technology which is debatable. People were legitimately happier back then and more human.
It still has a large audience honestly. There are people playing 3S all these decades later.
@@wildwest1832 Most game developers would KILL for a fanbase this loyal for a game this good. Same for the Marvel vs Capcom games (which recently got a collection that I'm SUPER hyped for)
There is a weird disconnect between "old fighting gamr broken, half the cast sucks and hit boxes are misplaced and i love it for that" and "new game broken i hate it"
Yeah. I noticed that. Probably old game had charming that player overseeing. Or just nostagita blind. Or people get too soft today lol
@@danishiqbal2963People def too soft nowadays and just don’t wanna learn new mechanics and shit
I do think 3rd strike always has the fun out of being like "I coulda parried that". Even with the strongest characters like Chun the counterplay is very obvious and simple in theory if not to do practically. I can't say that for a lot of old games, and half the cast not having a tool like that makes them feel more unplayable, rather than just disadvantaged.
I think it's an issue with how the balance on old games can't be fixed while in new games there's an expectation for there to be balance. People would definately like an game more if it had better balance, but since they already have a meta set in stone, as well as the fact that it won't be updated more makes people go "Oh, silly 3rd Strike!" while complaining about sf6's balance actaully gets people somewhere which makes people ciritcize it more.
@@danishiqbal2963i mean, i got into fighting games in the past 10 years and i consider 3rd strike my fav fighting game, so definitely not nostalgia. Thing is, most of these games are super fun outside of the broken stuff or are ssf2x type of shit, being broken is the fun.

rollback netcode, and crossplay. Good tutorials like 3S online edition has already just use that
@@wildwest1832 Very excited to see how good the online experience is with this. Optimistic!
As for OE, Iron Galaxy did a good job with 3rd Strike Online edition, on every single aspect, except for the ones I mentioned, and I (& many others) didn’t appreciate the new audio additions, which were meant to sound like more contemporary rap at the time of the port, but were corny, and haven’t aged anywhere near as well as say, the NG arranged album, 2i’s spectacular soundtrack, OR the PS2 Arranged 3rd Strike soundtrack, which had greatly improved audio over the original arcade 3rd Strike’s low quality audio (which is what 30th featured, exclusively)
I played this video accidentally on max volume in my kitchen, scared the daylights out of my family with the beginning LETS GOOOOOO!!!!
I heard instead of 3S online edition they were going to make an HD remix for 3S and balance chun/yun, but the community wanted OG unchanged 3S so we got that instead, and the rest is history.
This entire vid is essentially just 26min of max watching third strike video essay while constantly unapologetically advertising Garou.
And I’m ALL FOR IT !!!
At this point, I'm convinced every fighting game is broken.
If every fighter is broken, then none are broken. All are balanced.
The one's that are not broken are boring

Love how the video goes along titling each section as a specific mechanic or specific things that certain characters can do...all things considered to be issues with the game. Then it gets to the Chun-Li section and it's just labeled "Chun-Li." The Queen is, herself, an issue with the game.
Love at the end of her bit "Also her stage is annoying because of this table." Just everything about her is a pain in the butt to deal with. xD
I generally refer to just defends as a “inverse parry with way stricter timing” I say inverse in terms of the input being away from the attack/projectile like you are guarding, rather than towards an attack/projectile
It's "Broken (featuring Amy Lee)," but it's my kind of broken.
This is an interesting lesson that latest rev isn't always perfectly balanced. I do wonder what caused such a shift in balance as I get the impression that 2nd impact was better in balance.
But 3S had the fortune of having a magical moment. Also I think some meta things have evolved in the fightcade ecosystem
The more I learn about third strike, the more it feels like it's held together by sheer willpower.
I had no idea this game even had port priority of all oversights, but it does! And I have no idea what to do with this cursed knowledge LMAO
I'm happy my guy guilewinquote getting recognition

Back then, we had no idea about the roster balance of SF3 Third Strike, until now thanks to its players passionately figuring out every gameplay interaction from past all the way to today
The version of Third Strike in the PS4 Anniversary Edition is good. But it does not have Shin Akuma as a selectable hidden character.

Yes, forward press parry is busted
3s is a great game to enjoy at a level beyond casual, but not quite tournament.
SF3 has Melee syndrome where the entire roster is horribly balanced but among the viable characters the balance is amazing so it's still an enjoyable game for competition

People who have never played: 3rd Strike is perfectly balanced!
Me, who's mained Chun-Li and Twelve: 3rd Strike is BS!
The only saving grace about playing as Twelve is that the vast majority of opponents don't know the matchups. And despite all the memes/jokes, Twelve DOES have combos. But they start as aerials and go have inverted priority. They go Heavy -> Medium, Heavy -> Light, Medium -> Medium, or Medium -> Light. Seriously, fire up Training Mode and try it. They're also easier to perform on cornered opponents. Neutral Medium Kick has some great stun damage/easy confirm in SA1. SA1 functions as a counterpick against characters with projectile supers. Inputting a back dash after an aerial block attack lets Twelve back dash anywhere between halfway or completely across the screen, depending on the strength of the attack.
As for combos: That back/forward throw that everyone jokes is Twelve's max damage attack is 14 (with 11 stun). However, that's nothing but an old meme. Here's what Training Mode says:
Aerial HK + Standing MK = 21 (23 stun). Aerial HK + Crouching MK = 20 (15 stun). Aerial HK + Standing/Crouching LP = 17 (15 stun). Aerial HK + Standing/Crouching LK = 18 (15 stun).
Aerial HP + Standing MK = 18 (25 stun). Aerial HP + Crouching MK = 17 (17 stun). Aerial HP + Standing/Crouching LP = 14 (17 stun). Aerial HP + Standing/Crouching LK = 15 (17 stun).
Aerial MK + Standing MK = 15 (21 stun). Aerial MP + Crouching MK = 14 (13 stun). Aerial MP + Standing/Crouching LP = 12 (13 stun). Aerial MP + Standing/Crouching LK = 13 (13 stun). Aerial MK + Standing/Crouching LP = 11 (11 stun). Aerial MK + Standing/Crouching LK = 12 (11 stun).
There's also Aerial HP + L AXE = 14 (19 stun). Aerial HK + L AXE = 17 (17 stun). Aerial MP + L AXE = 12 (15 stun). Aerial MK + L AXE = 11 (13 stun). L AXE combos into SA1. However, there are easier ways. The damage changes slightly because the hitboxes on the spikes are inconsistent and it depends on how close the character sprites are, but the numbers that come up most consistently are:
Aerial HP + SA1 = 42 (27 stun). Aerial HK + SA1 = 45 (25 stun). Aerial MP + SA1 = 37 (14 stun). Aerial MK + SA1 = 37 (14 stun.) Hope this helps you figure out how Twelve works and gets you (and others!) to give it a chance. Have fun!
10:58 Yes, the way to parry out of it is to down parry the first hit of Aegis Reflector, and then block Urien's regular attack; the pushback will cause your character to move out of Aegis range. It's fun watching Urien players panic when they realize their trusty unblockable won't work.
As for Twelve's ground moves, there are only a couple of things worth mentioning aside from the L AXE into SA1 combos. First is Neutral MK. Like I mentioned in the first post, it's essential for pressure tactics due to how easy it is to combo into, its relatively fast recovery time, as well as how much stun it does. 8 damage (11 stun) on Ryu might not seem like a lot, but it adds up very quickly; it only needs to connect 7 times to stun him. The hitbox makes the stats inconsistent, but the best I could get on a cornered Ryu with Standing Neutral MK + SA1 = 45 damage (24 stun) with all 9 hits. That's not bad at all.
Then there's EX NDL. It can be used as anti-air, even though it's probably safer/easier just to crouch walk out of the way. Since it tracks, it can also hit/juggle opponents who try doing cross-ups.
However, EX NDL has one other use: a corner juggle. If a standing opponent doesn't block it, they'll knocked into the air and vulnerable to a follow-up attack. This can be:
Standing/Crouching LP = 10 damage (7 stun), Aerial LP/LK = 10 damage (11 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Back/Crouching MP = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun)/12 damage (11 stun), Standing/Back MK = 14 damage (14 stun)/15 damage (14 stun)
Standing/Crouching HP = 17 damage (18 stun)/11 damage (9 stun), Standing/Crouching HK = 16 damage (15 stun)/16 damage (7 stun), L NDL = 14 damage (7 stun), L/M/H Standing AXE = 14 damage (11 stun)/15 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), Standing/Aerial EX AXE = 18 damage (11 stun)/17 damage (11 stun), and SA1 = 23 damage (13 stun).
Again, the damage is slightly more or less depending on the hitbox. I never use this juggle, but it is technically an option.
