A couple weeks ago I started playing SF2 for the first time. It’s a lot of fun (even though my main, E Honda, gets hard countered by projectiles), so I think Alpha 3 and then Third Strike will be the next games for me to learn
Capcom are the gods of games that stand the test of time. SF2, Alpha games, Marvel, and CvS still feel modern. Play Mortal Kombat games, for example, and they don’t stand the test of time.
Man no matter what street fighter comes out or how much time passes, it’s always great that we can fall back on third strike for a great time. Truly this game is a classic
@@Artec619 no buddy, back in the day all the critics were saying that Capcom were making a huge mistake sticking to 2D and that we were now in a 3D world. Now most of these critics don’t even play games anymore but the game is still being played now. It lasted longer than their career, lol.
Nevermind that New Generation flopped HARD and even with 2 "patches", Capcom still barely broke even on the title (or they took a loss, depending on which interviews you read). Are the gameplay and artwork amazing, even to this day? For sure, but at the time it was released all anyone wanted was polygonal 3D fighters and not "Ryu and a bunch of freaks that don't feel like Street Fighter characters." The game WAS a mistake for its time, but the underlying quality has held up long after the "everything MUST be in 3D now" fad faded away.

Which also refreshes the gameplay, allowing for entirely new gameplay strategies, and perhaps even parallel tournaments, showcasing that FRESH new angle. Also, another DOPE additional feature for this SF3 Collection, for instance, would be the ability to play 3rd Strike revision B, IN WIDESCREEN, but able to select stages and/or Stage MUSIC from SF3: New Generation & SF3: 2nd Impact, in both arranged (from PS2 & other versions) and the original OST versions. Imagine WIDESCREEN 3rd Strike, but on ELENA’s NIGHT BRIDGE stage/theme. HOT SH!T, y’all.

The raps were sorta corny, nowhere near as dope as the PS2 Arranged OST for the PS2 3rd Strike. And those aspects of the OE soundtrack haven’t aged well. The rest is BUTTER, and UI styling is excellent. Love me some Iron Galaxy (named after a cannibal Ox song, so it’s gotta be good) Anyways, hoping Capcom can get the next few additions to these collections so so so right. Making things fresh again, with a WIDESCREEN option for every SF3 title, and making every single OST available in every title, to set as save-able defaults per stage. Etc

I find it interesting saying you can feel yourself getting better. The longer I play fighting games the worse I get. I just never feel satisfied with my progress. Labing never goes well. I see what I do wrong but can never execute the changes during future games. I start focusing on one thing and cause me to forget everything. I'll say this is mostly only with SF6 as with Guilty Gear I constantly felt the growth. And this is my first SF, but I can not relate to the feeling of getting better now a days. Hopefully after 20 years like you I can get to that point.
Still even to this day, 3rd Strikes music is PEAKED, unmatched, no matter how many times I listen. The beats are infectious and make you want to fight, catchy and varied enough that I don’t get bored even when it loops back, the dnb instrumentation and the huge hip hop vibe is awesome ASF LETS GO
When things get calm in the FGC news, there's always 3rd Strike to guarantee content. And it's always good gameplay and commentary. What are the expectations for EVO?
Speaking of Sean, I was thinking how great it would be if 3rd Strike had "Old" characters like in Super Turbo, then people might actually use Sean lol.
