I remember a long time ago seeing a video on the Two Best Friends channel that mentioned Maximilian Dood, I checked it out and subscribed ever since. I loved Friday Night Fisticuffs and I love watching Max play fighting games. No lie, I probably would not play fighting games outside of Mortal Kombat if it wasn’t for the two of you. Both of y’all really changed the way I play video games! I know it may be weird to say thank you for something like that but seriously, y’all opened up my gaming pallet so much just by talking about and playing games you love. So thank you Max and Matt!!!!!

the reason why max and the zaibatsu were a success when it came content about fighting games is that their focus is on "fighting games can be fun!" while the rest of the FGC were "how to be good or what is top tier".
max and the zaibatsu brought a new generation towards fighting games thanks to their comedic and nostalgic content.

16:48 I never understood the notion of SF3 being “full of freaks”. Oro’s design looks not much different than Dhalsim, and is Necro any more inhuman and monstrous than Blanka? Every other character featured on screen fits in a fighting game (ninja, boxer, wrestler, Kung-Fu fighter, and three shotos…typical Street Fighter roster). Gill’s look is solely meant to show off how CPS-3 could handle an asymmetrical design, unlike Sagat and Vega in SF2 (but pay no attention to Oro’s tied arm switching sides).

No matter how much you hate SF5, you cant deny s2 DLC was a great role out for the new characters. Though most werent necesarily "new" they did open the door for growth. & aside from necalli, all new characters made an impact game & story wise.

Both Capcom and the SF community's biggest fear is change. For the community, it's fear of another massive failure, one that could cause one of their biggest franchises to go dark. For Capcom, it's wanting to recapture that magic and success of SF2. A lot of people are split on this: a lot of people want the series to move on. "We want more new characters, we want a game set after SFIII, etc etc". The rest want more of the same: "we want to stay where we are, we want to see old faces again, etc etc."
I totally understand the scenario, and everyone has a point. But look at just SFV: look at all the brand new characters (Rashid, Falke, Menat, etc-especially Luke, the next Alex). They're all cool, even the less popular ones like Abigail or Ed. Alongside them we have our old favorites: not just the big 3 (Ryu, Ken, and Chun-Li) but also Alex, Balrog, Ibuki, Juri, etc. It's possible to have both new and old, and make everyone happy. It's difficult, but possible.

To have the right balance, SF6 should have a base roster of 30 characters: 23 veterans and 7 newcomers, and 11 out of the 23 veterans should be ones that didn't make to SF5, like Makoto, Fei Long, etc.
Also, the story of SF6 should take place at least 2 years after 3rd Strike with a brand new main antagonist that has nothing to do with Shadowloo, S.I.N., the Illuminati nor the Evil Hadou (G would make a great main villain).

Street Fighter 3 has to have had the worst arcade cabinet ever. I still remember seeing Street Fighter 3 for the first time, didn’t know it had come out, was at an airport with my parents waiting on some people, and from far away I see this cabinet that doesn’t say Street Fighter, and isn’t showing any previous Street Fighter characters. I’m looking at this thing, walking through the airport, and I’m like: Is that a new Street Fighter? But it took a while to tell it was a new Street Fighter became someone got the bright idea to just put 3 on the cabinet...it was in the SF2 font, but then anyone can use that font too.
Also, like no place I went to normally had a Street Fighter 3 cabinet. I think the only two place I ever saw it (when it was new) was that airport (and I didn’t get to play it) and the Casa Bonita we almost never went to.

Pizza places usually had a few machines set up. The first time I ever saw War Gods was some little gas station. Back in the day in our local game arcades, the most popular games are in the arcade machines with big screens, like 50 to 70 inches screens. SFIII New Generation was in a regular cabinet in the corner of the place. It's like I found a hidden gem. It was only until around 2004 when 3rd Strike arrived in those massive screens beside games such as MvC2.

I didn't bother with any of the new characters; stuck with Ryu and Ken. The "Shin Shoryuken" Super Art absolutely captured my imagination. I just loved everything about it. Looking at Alpha 3 a couple years later, when the arcade machine showed up at my college, I felt like it was a step backwards. I can appreciate that game now, but back then, I was already sick to death of those CPS2 sprites.

An interesting story regarding SFIII: I was the first to play and introduce the game among my circle of friends! At the time, all my friends were knee deep into Alpha 3, and everyone I knew had a copy except me. So one day I go into one of the old Gamestops I used to frequent and finally found a copy of Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the Dreamcast. Timing was not on my side that day because I was literally out of money to buy the game, and had to wait a couple of days until payday to acquire it. Said payday came around and timing was literally not on my side again, and they sold the game a good FIVE MINUTES before I got there! Insane, right? So, of course I was sorely disappointed that I missed out, but before I was about to leave, I looked back up at the lock case and saw something I'd never seen before. In fact it was something I never even knew existed (because our local arcades never had the cabinets): a fresh, brand new copy of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike! It just kind of sparked my curiosity something fierce, so I went back up to the counter and said, "you know what? Gimme that one!" Took it home, fired it up, and had a blast playing it! I didn't even care that the roster was vastly different. I spent a good amount of time learning the characters (Elena ended up being my all time favorite) and every nook and cranny I could, then took it to my bestie's house and got the rest of our circle to play it. Even they'd never seen SFIII at that point, and they went out to get copies of the game, which at that time was difficult to find! I just got lucky that day!

The fact it was so lacking in SF2 characters was a bonus to me, as I was just a bit tired of being sold the same game and mostly same characters over and over again throughout SF2, SFA and SFEX's many versions. In fact, SF4 going back to being 90% SF2's roster was a big part of why I held a grudge against it for so long.
The fact so many of SF3's characters have direct parallels to SF1's characters (Dudley and Eagle, Ibuki and Geki, Yun/Yang and Lee, Makoto and Retsu, etc) was super cool to me. It even made Ryu and Ken being the only returning characters make sense in a thematic way.
