I think I can honestly say, having read "The Church in Crisis", that the problem was --- me ---. By my lukewarmness, lack of prayer, half-hearted following the gospel and my sin, that I was one of the folks who let the stopper out of the tub and allowed the graces of God to drain. I am thankful, EXTREMELY thankful, for God's Mercy on me, a sinner. I am that tax collector in the parable. I am the woman caught in adultery. I am the son who said yes to his father but didn't go out into the vineyard to work. All I can now do is ask God for His Mercy and live in His Will for however much time He grants me. Thank you Dr. Martin for your book...it was an eye-opener.

That was me 8 months ago too. The humility I experienced in the confessional and proper reception of the Eucharist and receiving those graces was enormous. Pride infected my life for so long. The sins I’ve been able to overcome and abandon with such ease really comes from this fuller conversion to Lord. God is so good! Research doing a general confession.

Just listened to this today...Love , love, love the idea of having petitions for courageous acts by priest & bishops but even a step further in getting it to Rome. Also I would love a discussion by a priest on why parents can't support and attend our child's SS marriage.

and tryi to sing along with lauds and vespers here on You Tube - with Sing the Hours.
It’s been helpful and so easy to continue daily!!!!

1:47:49 My husband and I are praying that a possible adoption from Uganda works out. Beautiful little girl, currently living in a convent. Same exact age as one of my other daughters. What a blessing it would be for our family!! Uganda has become so incredibly strict with their adoption laws (which isn’t a bad thing!!) so we still feel so far away from it happening. But we are praying it works out. I believe she could even come here and even teach us so much!!

Mr. Martin nails it with his answer to Matt’s question what are Catholic laypeople to do in a time of unfaithful clergy: take responsibility for knowing the Faith yourself. The Lord has given us the tools, including the Internet (that double edged sword), to find the answers that past Popes and Cathechisms have always taught with dogmatic clarity, easier than ever before.

James Flynn, as joined in a consecrated male female marriage vowed to God followed on the death of my wife by a consecrated celibate marriage vowed to man in Christ, what I am and what I do is to keep or allow in uncertainty of my belief on the reference point of my previous consecrated male female marriage, and that marriage on the reference point of the two marriages of Mary, one celibate and one male female with St Joseph, the inseparability and qualitative equality of my identity "am" as a family member and my role "do" as a helper of my family and other families.
For me there are no "Catholic laypeople" only these helpers of families.
For me there is no "faith" separate from and not qualitatively equal with thinking as in uncertainty belief in the keeping or allowing of this inseparability and qualitative equality.
For me grooming by diseased family member 'familyists' of psychologically and or emotionally vulnerable family members purporting presuming an occult as hidden, incest connected as substitute mate non-economic status distinction of
      (a) layfaithful and clergy,
      (b) consecrated celibate marriage as a higher vocation than consecrated male female marriage
is for economic advantage of the families of these groomers by tax-exemption embezzlement and lower insurance cost by fraud.

continued to James Flynn, once an international economic order was established after WW1 by the Bretton Wood "gold standard" US dollar tied to gold agreement in 1944, it was for the first time possible to measure the relationship between population growth and food supplies growth in the developing countries finding "just about paripassu rate of growth". Using a non-economic status inducement for economic advantage on a religious "faith" pretext had had its day but took until 10 June 2021 or just after for Pope Francis to administer the 'last rites' by his simultaneous authorisations in the Vatican state Cardinal Becciu + 9 and Italian state "Zan" bill cases.

I love trying to follow the foot steps of Jesus. I believe that if the Priests, the Popes, the Ministers, and the believers of Christ would teach as Jesus did when he taught his lessons of love, and how to behave truly humanely toward each other including our enemies the world would be a beautiful place. Too many who claim to be Christian do not really follow the lessons of Jesus. Too many "believers" behaviors actually turn many people away from God. Jesus did not set up churches not even the Catholic Church.... these are man made structures and organizations.
My understanding is that the believers and followers of Christ is the Church. Just think about this .... some of the darkest, cruelest, actions that have been committed against humanity has been done by the fake believers of Christ.
Thank God that their are some Catholics courageous enough to use UA-cam to teach Christianity. The Catholic Church is not alone in this endeavor. There are many people being others to God. Even someone like Jordan Peterson - through his teachings has given people the spark the learn more about Christianity and God/Christ. The lessons can be every where and some times come unexpectedly.

I grew up evangelical protestant. ( low Church protestant) I absolutely love this conversation. It was of refreshing to hear the same sprite of evangelicalism I see in the faithful Christians growing up. I loved the foundation of Jesus as lord expressed in this conversation. If I heard more conversations like this, I might have have converted to Catholicism already. I love Catholics and defend them quite often from my protestant brothers and sisters, but what keeps me away is that even though I love the history, the history and traditions are not whats prime, but the gospel of Jesus Christ. ( not saying history and tradition should be throw out) Jesus's proclamations of the end times should the fire under the feet of all Christians. Thank the Lord for Bishop Baron, Dr. Ralph Martin and Matt Fradd for showing us all the evangelical side of Catholicism. I see a lack of gospel declaration from other Christians in my daily life and I have also have been embarrassed by the Gospel. So lets pray we all summit to the Lord and tell the whole world what is to come boldly out of love!

I think the issue you have is on the magisterium. What made me comfortable with remaining catholic is seeing it like how the mosaic covenant church was organized. God passed on authority to Joshua, and he passed on power to others (e.i. the laying on of hands). God also gave Moses an oral Torah, which was just as authoritative as the written Torah. Remember that authority and oral tradition does not go over scripture, but simply goes hand in hand. I also would just tend to believe the historic christians when they witness their faith to me. They are better interpreters of scripture than me by far. God bless!

@@llla_german_ewoklll6413 I agree with your appeal to authority, but i would add all that authority should in serves of what: The gospel message that saves. I wish I heard more christian confess the gospel among non-believers with as much joy as these catholic evangelists here do.

Minute 29. Whoa!!! No way!! What a meaningful insight from the saintly, elegant and refined Mr. Fradd (likely due to his contemplative prayer regarding how to respond to these strange times and his true charity toward his listeners): “We have to look at what’s in front of us and not downplay it. When people downplay it it just gaslights people and they end up insane, you know?” This insight consoles me greatly ! because I am fighting off insanity every day! The “media blackout” is so painful each and every day!

Yes I agree with this completely. There are a lot of Catholic voices on social media but I think a lot of them have a tendency to focus on culture wars, which although important, are not the root of the problem. They’re the symptoms of a Church where so many have abandoned Jesus Christ if they ever knew Him at all. May He be the center of our lives, enlightening our minds and strengthening our hearts in His love 🙏🏻☦️

Minute 41... It's been one year since my weight loss surgery. I had to take physical, earthly steps to give my heart and mind boundaries and more time to strengthen my spiritual muscles enough to stop the sin of gluttony. It was extreme, but I was sooo tired of being a slave to a sin of mine that was this thorn in my side. When I broached the topic of surgery with my husband, I brought up the verses about the right arm needing cut off if it's causing one to sin and said, "Do ya think that can include the stomach?" LOL! I'm so thankful to be free from that sin and so thankful God gave doctors the knowledge of how to help in this area... I needed extreme and He answered my prayers. I struggle with other sin still, but this past year has been a year of growth (the right kind) and I'm celebrating the heart freedom that a physical restriction helped facilitate.

We are not literally supposed to cut off an arm. It's against Catholic teaching to mutilate the body, mutilate or destroy or remove a healthy organ that is doing its job. (Bariatric surgery is life-threatening and drastically reduces a person's ability to enter fully into social life. I hope it works out for you, but you may have actually shortened your life....)

Then a brother in the Lord shared Mr. Martin's book, Hungry for God, with me. I've read chapter 2, Show us the Father, twice. I'm right there with him until we reach a fork in the road.

life long evangelical here. when I hear Mr Martin speak, he reminds me of the best of my protestant mentors.
I think people who were raised like me have an inaccurate caricature of catholics in our minds. either ridged and legalistic, or uninterested and worldly, but believing as long as they go to confession they are doing fine.
Matt, your show is doing well to humanize, and affirm the salvation of catholics to me and my fellow apostates. 😂

I was trying to explain the darkness I was struggling with to my priest. I know part of it was my medication. But, it was also like something uninvited came along with it. I know what it takes to get through these dips in my health. But, I was feeling this time was different. I was struggling to pray or do anything.
That days sermon was about the importance of confidence in Christ. And, i realized that I had lost sight of that confidence in His every word. As soon as he said it, every thing changed. I was no longer depressed, anxious or angry.
Without that confidence my prayers of surrender, trust, love, etc were just words. With confidence in Christ, they are truth and reality.

I am discouraged over the Church’s strenuous efforts to accommodate the culture rather than transform the culture through the power of the Holy Spirit! These two gifted, anointed men are where they are by the mercy of God. The Church needs their voices. 🙏🙏 Norman

I'm glad you talked some about scrupulously, but my issue with it is not that I'm just a little too hard on myself. My issue is that I'm constantly doubting my intentions and whether or not they are what I think they were. It would be awesome if we could hear more about how to overcome that. I have no issue bringing something up in confession or realizing that I'm a sinner, I just have a hard time knowing what exactly is sin that I need to confess.

I think you might want to have a Spiritual Director. Sins are things that keep you away from God. The more you love God the more you want to be close (and become one) with God. For many people, even "good things" like "working so hard", "missing chance to worship/love God",... are considered "sins" to them. Recognize our "sins" is just a way to be humble to admit that we need God, need grace to love and be close to Him.

The issue of scriptural innerrancy is such a huge one. I am running into more and more Catholics that assert that it isn't innerrant, especially St. Paul's letters - even with how much evil I have personally seen and experienced within Catholic hierarchy and academia, the extent to which that belief has taken hold truly shocked me.
