Am I the only one around here that actually likes QTE's? They make action-packed cutscenes more immersive, and make it feel like you're doing more than just running-and-gunning, adding some variety. And there is great potential for them too; imagine if you could press any button in a QTE but it leads to a different action or resolution of the cutscene (different finishing move or something) but in a way that doesn't affect the overall storyline. For the most part, I like them. They can be misused (press F to pay respects) but I overwhelmingly enjoy them. Hell, Telltale makes whole games of QTE's.

Well if you just lose all of your equipment it's fine. Take Dishonored for example, in the mission where your weapons are stolen so you have to use magic to do everything, it's pretty cool.
Other sections that annoy me, are moments where you lose all your inventory, or abilities, and have to go through a long segment to get them all back. I also hate segments that require trial and error puzzle solving, like the last temple in Zelda: Skyward Sword, or the entrance to the Final Egg Zone for Sonic and Amy, in Sonic Adventure. Slide puzzle challenges in video games are no fun either, like the ones in Alice: Madness Returns, or the bonus games in Zelda: The Wind Waker. Segments where one hit automatically kills you, can be annoying as well.
SpongicX You are aware the entrance the Final Egg Zone for Sonic and Amy, in Sonic Adventure, wasn't trial and error right? It's very easy to do if you know how to do those kinds of puzzles.
SpongicX don't forget dishonored after you get poisoned and thrown in to a hole,then have to go into a place full of weapers to get them back depending on whether you killed to many people or not.
BioShock 2 did great water levels, walking around the sea floor like it ain't nothing and walking around flooded Rapture with bodies floating by and fish swimming the halls was awesome.

FantasticGames blighttown almost made me quit that game. definitely the most frustrating section of any game ive played. another part that made me rage was the anor londo archers. im convinced developers put those archers there as a big fuck you to the players.

Examples, ratchet and clank hover board race, sly cooper Murray races, chrono triggers future racing section, the horse racing in the n64 zelda games, and disney race in kingdom hearts Birth by sleep. Listen, if it's a game that's made to be a racing game, that's fine. But lets face it, some games are designed to be something like a platforming game or an rpg, or any other type. But for some reason, the designers just fell like they should throw in a racing section, that's poorly made, has AIs that are to fast, or make the race Absolutely mandatory to win, otherwise your not going to finish the game. These sections always annoy me and are always to pain to get use to.

The LEGO Movie 2 did this as well, you have quests to do (generally side quests rather than main story quests IIRC) that involve getting around a racing course in a certain amount of time to win and get whatever you get for winning. Really annoying.

Ice levels. Believe me "snow" levels are usually the most enjoyable, memorable and occasionally most beautiful levels in any videogames. However when there are "ice" levels these are just disasters featuring poor stopping distances and pitfalls. The worst part about these are that enemies and hazards never follow "ice physics" in games, meaning they can move around normally while you slide into a pit.
Half-Life is my favourite videogame series but I'll go an say it ...that damn train level from the first game (not the beginning, the part just before you launch the rocket)

The best QTEs are in game ones. Games such as Metal Gear Rising or God of War have great QTEs. Cutscene ones are unecessary and not that great , unless they are from Resident Evil 4, which was awesome.

Kei Nanjo Usually they have a save point of some kind just before the Point of no return, though. If you get wiped out after that point, just go grind some more, if you're still not maxed out.
1. Escort mission 2.Timed limit sections/games. 3.Stealth sections. 4. QTE. 5. Fetch quests. 6. Platforming levels in non platformers. 7 Maze levels. 8 Turret section. 9. Driving section. 10. Water levels. That is my list at least :P
i think quick time events only some video games do it wrong there is a lot of good games that without quick time event it couldnt have been perfect like until dawn (which i really recommend for everyone if u have a ps4) beyond two souls (love it) heavy rain telltale games (some games) ect
echo_503 Resistance one is supposed to be a gung-ho shooter, but with headphones and/or high volume, it turns into a fucking horror game when not playing coop. If you're careless, you WILL die very quickly (and even if you're careful you're pretty much just dying slightly slower in some areas), and checkpoints are a rare treat, so hearing a hybrid and not knowing where it is is scary. Hearing Auger fire coming through walls without warning is startling, and the physics object sounds, oh boy. There are no sounds for "Oh look, you lightly touched it, and it shifted just a little," there are only sounds for "YOU HAVE BODY SLAMMED INTO A HUGE BOX OF VERY LOUD METAL COMPONENTS" (Kind of the opposite of Half-Life 2's problems), so rubbing up against one of the many barrels or dollys will scare you to death if you aren't expecting it.
Stan_The_Man Anything with demons in it, especially the mission where you're on drugs and have to break out of the prison. And they're not optional, either.
Broken TV Games remember the one on the docks where all the guards spawned at like 100+ and you had to use the blue chain gun the entire time to do anything?
It's not the difficulty it's self that the problem it's the spikes that happen with all the missions some are easy then the next one is hard as shot then it goes back

Don't get me wrong there are some definitely difficult parts like the one tahu mentioned above, but i never felt like it hindered the fun i had with the game and I'm a total wimp when it comes to challenging games (i.e. i barely got anywhere in dark souls)
Quick time event's are fucking awful, and shouldn't be in games, period. Shadow of Mordor and Dying Light final "boss" fights were ruined by being QTE's.

FantasticGames blighttown almost made me quit that game. definitely the most frustrating section of any game ive played. another part that made me rage was the anor londo archers. im convinced developers put those archers there as a big fuck you to the players.

Examples, ratchet and clank hover board race, sly cooper Murray races, chrono triggers future racing section, the horse racing in the n64 zelda games, and disney race in kingdom hearts Birth by sleep. Listen, if it's a game that's made to be a racing game, that's fine. But lets face it, some games are designed to be something like a platforming game or an rpg, or any other type. But for some reason, the designers just fell like they should throw in a racing section, that's poorly made, has AIs that are to fast, or make the race Absolutely mandatory to win, otherwise your not going to finish the game. These sections always annoy me and are always to pain to get use to.
If your going to mention birth by sleep then at lest mention the ice cream making section. That part is total BS.

The LEGO Movie 2 did this as well, you have quests to do (generally side quests rather than main story quests IIRC) that involve getting around a racing course in a certain amount of time to win and get whatever you get for winning. Really annoying.

Ice levels. Believe me "snow" levels are usually the most enjoyable, memorable and occasionally most beautiful levels in any videogames. However when there are "ice" levels these are just disasters featuring poor stopping distances and pitfalls. The worst part about these are that enemies and hazards never follow "ice physics" in games, meaning they can move around normally while you slide into a pit.

The best QTEs are in game ones. Games such as Metal Gear Rising or God of War have great QTEs. Cutscene ones are unecessary and not that great , unless they are from Resident Evil 4, which was awesome.

Resident Evil 2's sewer sections we're not samey, each map was completely different and had unique visuals, albeit the color array was not as impressive.
Resident Evil 2 was pretty much the best RE game in my opinion, I loved it and I agree the sewer section wasn't bad at all in it.

echo_503 Resistance one is supposed to be a gung-ho shooter, but with headphones and/or high volume, it turns into a fucking horror game when not playing coop. If you're careless, you WILL die very quickly (and even if you're careful you're pretty much just dying slightly slower in some areas), and checkpoints are a rare treat, so hearing a hybrid and not knowing where it is is scary. Hearing Auger fire coming through walls without warning is startling, and the physics object sounds, oh boy. There are no sounds for "Oh look, you lightly touched it, and it shifted just a little," there are only sounds for "YOU HAVE BODY SLAMMED INTO A HUGE BOX OF VERY LOUD METAL COMPONENTS" (Kind of the opposite of Half-Life 2's problems), so rubbing up against one of the many barrels or dollys will scare you to death if you aren't expecting it.
Stan_The_Man Anything with demons in it, especially the mission where you're on drugs and have to break out of the prison. And they're not optional, either.
I wouldn't consider anything from far cry 4 "horror".

It's not the difficulty it's self that the problem it's the spikes that happen with all the missions some are easy then the next one is hard as shot then it goes back

Don't get me wrong there are some definitely difficult parts like the one tahu mentioned above, but i never felt like it hindered the fun i had with the game and I'm a total wimp when it comes to challenging games (i.e. i barely got anywhere in dark souls)
