i agree super mario bro movie is terrible history repit itself just like the cartoon movie just saying the truth
We didn't think you would leave out super Mario brothers we just thought it would be at the bottom of the list.
Mortal Kombat Annihilation's Raiden replacement was also very bad at acting. The original had Highlander's main actor Christopher Lambert who did a great job playing the god, but the replacement? Nah.
Where's "Postal?"
@@jimb.7523 They made a movie on the game?
If Sonic didn't get redesigned, I bet Sonic 2020 would've been on the list!
A rare moment when the movie's creators actually LISTENED to the fans.
@@krizwatcher Okay let's not blame the writers/directors for Sonic's original awful look in the film. That was the fault of one of the executive producers who wanted Sonic to "look more like how Michael Bay reworked the Transformers" which yeah was a bad call and quite frankly THAT'S the guy who should get the ire of hatred and should have had to pay the team who redesigned Sonic to look more like how he actually does.
Here's the thing though; while Sonic's look was redesigned, the rest of the movie WASN'T. Like the story and dialogue and directing and everything else was the same so the fact it was good just means the film itself is good and though probably wouldn't be a hit (as no one would have incentive to really watch it) wouldn't be in the worst video game movies like these flicks.
that was the close call and made the smart decision
@@DianaGohannot to hate on people with that affliction, but the protagonist looking like a scoliotic mongoloid who ran face first into a belt sander would ruin every movie, even if it had the best storytelling of the millennium, ESPECIALLY when his looks are an established thing like in Sonic's case, so why the 'makeover' into a lanky abomination (the old design).
Yes!!! I win for us!!!
"Mortal Kombat: Annihilation” One of my favorite so bad it's fun to watch films. Great choice at No. 1!
"Mother! You're alive.
Too bad you... will DIE."
Borderlands should be number 2
I thought our victory in mortal kombat closed those portals!
What closes can also open again.....
What is that supposed to mean?
AAAAHHHHHHHHHH
Mortal kombat , mk2, street fighter, Double Dragon so cheezie its my childhood and i love it😂😂
Nnnno
@@kevingame3198nah #1, because there's nothing even so bad it's good to enjoy it.
Raul Julia as Bison will always be a treasure
And he took the role because his kids loved the games.
And the immense pain and discomfort he was likely in from stomach cancer while filming the movie.
For you that time Raul Julia played Bison will always be treasured, for him it was Tuesday.
"Good Movies Based on Video Games" would have been a much shorter list.
There arent that many
@DJPUPPETMASTER-RESURRECTED- that's the entire point of what i said....
@@AwolGG Sorry I wasnt paying attention
Im surprised half of this list wasn't every single film Uwe Bol made.
Far Cry should have been on this list. The sex scene between the hero and his love interest was painfully and obviously shoved into the plot. That alone should have qualified it.
Or The Asylum. They did include a couple CGI movies after all, and they did have some like that.
Mark Walberg as Sully was the strangest choice ever. Didnt even grow a mustache for it 😂
Mofo should’ve been Nathan
Mark was supposed to be Nathan and had been the main person pushing for the movie to be made for years, with the idea being him in the starring role. But by the time it was finally getting made, he was too old to play him.
What about Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne?
Nathan Fillion would make a good Nathan Drake with Bruce Campbell as Sully
I read that he was originally cast as Nate, since he looks similar and could've passed for a slightly older post-game version. But then they wanted to get Holland onboard to bring the Spider-Man audience in, so they stuck Mark in the Sully role and made Nate look about 12.
The FNAF movie was SUPPOSE to be made for the fans! We waited years for this movie to come out!
They even got two of the people that made the franchise catch on: Markiplier and MatPat.
It was worth the 30 year wait to finally get a GOOD Mario movie. Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper can finally rest in peace.
DOA was actually a perfect adaptation. Critics who said it was an excuse to show hot girls doing martial arts CLEARLY never played the game cause DOA is about hot girls doing martial arts! The concept of "breast giggle time" in video games became part of the lexicon because of DOA!
My exact thought.
Right? It's like saying you read Playboy for the articles.
I loved Jolie as Lara Croft
I did too. Both Tomb Raiders are good popcorn movies.
Lol once you see the black dude with dreads for the stunt double during the moto chase I can't help but die laughing cause it's so obvious
Right! I thought the first one was pretty good.
agreed, at least, the first movie was entertaining as hell.
I still have the double DVD.
The first "Silent Hill" movie stayed true to the spirit of the source material.
"Revelation 3D" absolutely did not.
That first movie has some of the creepiest scariest scenes ever and movie cinema
I love the theory of why Silent Hill Revelations failed, it is a known fact that Sean Bean usually dies in almost every film hes in.
You mean he's a movie version of Kenny from South Park?
Except he lives in more of them than he dies in, actually.
It’s a good thing that 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie is available to watch so we can forget that ABYSMAL No. 5 entry
Assassin's Creed: "One possible issue is that the film strayed too far from the source material, and got lost" .
More than a few folk would argue that so did the games... :P
You missed Uwe Boll's abortions of Far Cry and Postal. Pretty sure he could have filled the top ten.
They should have gotten Nathan Fillion (Firefly) to star in Uncharted while he was young enough to look like Nathan Drake.
Tell my friends this all the time
They should have used him as an older Nathan Drake book ending the movie as narrative of his adventures!
There is a fan film on yt with Nathan fillion that's really good
Prince of Persia was fine.
I feel like putting annihilation at #1 is a cop-out, because at least you can get some sort of enjoyment out of it, I get nothing out of Borderlands, especially for a movie made in the modern day.
Now ratchet and clank and fnaf was actually good
both r really good!
Ratchet and Clank was passable, but it should have been great, because those games have some of the best stories around.
@markzuckergecko621 on god I would love to see a up your arsenal movie 😂
@ or deadlocked and all for one
@@alpha6k44 Up Your Arsenal is freaking amazing, if I had to pick one I would say that's probably my favorite. Some of that may be nostalgia, bc that was the first R&C game I played. But damn I played the hell out of it. It's hard to pick one since there's so many good ones though, Deadlocked and A Crack In Time are also amazing. I love Deadlocked because it's just pure carnage, all the stories in the other games are great too, but it was a nice change of pace to just straight up nuke stuff for the entire game.
How could you put Street Fighter on here?? That movie was visual GOLD growing up
Dead Trigger (2019) & King Of Fighters (2010) Were just plain terrible Trash Water they make Barb Wire (1996) look like High Art
Okay, c'mon, the FNAF movie AFTER Resident Evil? Nah, FNAF isn't a great movie but at least they try to make sense of the story
Borderlands should be number one, at least MK annihilation has the redeeming factor of being hilarious and having a banging soundtrack
Also Need For Speed wasn't that bad
Thank you for bringing up the soundtrack... Still holds up.
Street fighter is solely carried by Raul Julia, but sadly JCVD and Raul could not save the movie.
Uncharted was way better than the rest of these entries despite slightly altering Nathan & Sully’s physiques. Also props for it actually making the treasure something worth finding in comparison to the games
18:22 OF COURSE!
*Raoul Julian's Last Memorable Quote and Meme*
0:53 The problem with every Hollywood movie “based on a video game”.
Doom Annihilation is just a movie adaptation of Doom 3, which really should tell you how they screwed up. It's even more obvious when you realize the movie's villain is named Malcolm Betruger, the same guy who was the main villain in Doom 3, and the Imps have the model of the Imps in Doom 3. It's really telling.
Should've just been all the live action versions, though DOOM, Silent Hill, FNAF and Sonic are good films that TRY to stick true; while Resident Evil completely throws that out the window (only thing connecting LA to OG is Umbrella, zombies and a FEW similarly named characters).
Every time there's a "worst movies" list Uwe Boll makes up a fair chunk of it. I suspect WM didn't include the 2008 "Far Cry" movie here only because they didn't want half of the list to be Bollshit movies. Or they just forgot the movie existed.
If they forgot it existed, they were the lucky ones.
There's a far cry movie ?? Omg nooo
Bro FNAF was meant to be for the fans, and was made to be for the fans. If you are not a fan, you’re not the targeted audience. FNAF movie was decent.
TY!..
Adaptations should be able to stand on their own. A general audience shouldn't have to do homework to enjoy a film.
I never played it, but I enjoyed it and I generally don't do horror.
Cope
They should still be competent on their own. If the food is bad without the sauce then the food isnt worth it.
The Chris Pratt Mario movie was obviously better than the Bob Hoskins Mario movie.
Yep! I saw it as Jack Black's Bowser is way better than Dennis Hopper's Bowser he looked like Donald Trump going on a Gay hot date with Bernie Sanders!
Granted you wouldn't think it'd take much to be better then the Bob Hoskins movie but yeah obviously Illumination's Mario is far superior.... it does have issues but like it's a film I get why was such a hit and deserves to be a franchise.
@@DianaGohan The soundtrack was spot on!
No shit Sherlock
Yeah smallville's Lana as Chun-Lee didn't work
Need for Speed is highly underrated! One of my favorite video game adaptations even though it has little to do with the game.
Double Dragon could have been better
I saw it in theaters twice as a kid and have seen that cheesy piece of work a few times as an adult. Can think of several others not on the list that are worse
I saw it when I was 9. 9! I regretted it. The only actor that's good as a villain is Robert Patrick.
To be fair Double Dragon does have one of the best movie lines “I consider you like a son Abob and like a son I can always have another” 😂
You can’t make me hate any of the Tomb Raider movies
same
"Resident Evil Welcome to Racoon City" is way overhated and way better than about 80% of the Milla movies lol which really isn't saying much, but still.
Came here to say this. At least WTRC followed the story a little more closely than the Jovovich films. And nothing is as bad as the Netflix series
The Street Fighter movie had a great message, "If you don't change the channel on Tuesday, you will get paid."
Fun fact: Raul Julia knew the Street figher movie was bad but agreed to do it because his kids were huge fans of the game series. There was an interview where he talked about how much fun his kids had while watching their dad ham it up on screen as M. Bison.
The cult wasn't ever a sub-plot of the Silent Hill series and movies. It was literally plot. The first Mortal Kombat movie is loved by most fans of the games. Also, any movie by Uwe Bol is always terrible.
Well, well, well... WatchMojo always looking at the critics scores and not the audience scores, huh? You never side with the AUDIENCE who is watching Uncharted, Five Nights at Freddy's, and the Super Mario movie, do ya?
Well, next time, here is a little advice, LOOK AT THE AUDIENCE SCORE FOR ONCE, SO YOU CAN THINK TWICE ABOUT PUTTING ANY MOVIE WITH A GOOD AUDIENCE SCORE ON THE "WORST" LIST NEXT TIME!!! 🤬🤬🤬
Saying Borderlands is worse than Monster Hunter is crazy
"Film critic" "Film critic" "Film critic" "Film critic" "Film critic" "Film critic"... no s they didn't like it, that's prob not their type of movies. they prob didn't get paid from them to review it well.
wow, and i thought _i_ was cynical
Racoon city was s tier compared to the Netflix show.
U right
OMG I forgot about the Netflix show
Dreadful. Was unwatchable
That movie didn't even honor the characters' physical appearances.
"Making a movie out of a racing game is about as practical as making a movie about a classic board game."
Excuse me, but "Clue" would like a word.
DOOM Annihilation should've been on this list, at least DOOM 2005 is more watchable than that
DOOM 2005 is indeed more watchable and very enjoyable to watch and I would take DOOM 2005 over alone in the dark 2005.
Why are people still upset with how Street Fighter movie handled the lore? That was in 1994, all the lore there was is Ken wanted to marry, Ryu walked to fight, Blanka wanted him mother, three characters wanted revenge, and Cammy is an amnesiac former lover or Bison.
What depth was there that makes fans cry for how lore was mishandled?
Say what you want about Uwe Boll, he's still better than Michael Bay.
No, Michael Bay is Christopher Nolan compared to Boll.
@@arilumani6194 seriously though lol
MK Annihilation is my most hated adaptation ever. I saw it with 3 friends in 97 in the theaters when i was 16. We did have fun ragging on it since we were the only ones there lol. F**k that s**t!!!
Same with me. I too hated Mortal Kombat Annihilation so much that me and my Uncle discuss about how bad it was as they recycled the footage of Rain falling into the fire pit just to show how lazy that Wanking Bumheads/New Line Cinema are when Liu Kang fought Baraka.
"imaging watching someone else play a video game while another guy narrates it".... Ummm anyone heard of esports? That's a literal description of every esports tournament.
You forgot to name the horrendous skybox on mortal kombat 2
Space Ice is an excellent video on Alone in the Dark, highly recommended!
His mocking of Steven Seagal's movies are funny as hell
Mega blockbuster movie
Ya'll missed Uwe Boll's "Farcry", which was my guess for #1
My problem with Uncharted is that they solved all the puzzles in a second...
Frank Grillo as Max Payne in a reboot would be absolutely killer. We need this haha
oh come on, the 2005 "Doom" movie was actually pretty damn good for what it was
Wanna see a good video game fighting movie???
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1994)
They totally made a miscast with Tannis, not just Roland. Roland is supposed to be serious, a better pick would've been either Ice T or Ice Cube, and Tannis is supposed to be eccentric.
Edit: Also, last I checked, Five Nights at Freddy's was a very well received movie, enough to greenlight a sequel.
Double Dragons is so bad it’s good
Didn't know about the Heavenly Sword movie until now but damn that looks ugly. The game looks so much better than the movie
Best part of the original MK was Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as Shang Tsung. They guy reprised the role in the video games and is just fun to watch.
I realize the Super Mario Bros movie sucked as a video game movie…however, if you think of it as just another 80s dystopian sci-fi movie, with coincidental names to characters in the Mario Bros game…it was actually a pretty good generic sci-fi movie for it’s time.
Biggest disappointment for me was the Max Payne Movie. Barely featuring the bullettime and leaving out very important main characters is enough to doom a movie.
FNAF was the only one you mentioned that was done right. It’s a video game movie. It SHOULD follow the plot in the games.
Some video game movies we need……
1. Pong
2. The Sims
3. Breakout
4. Duck Hunt
5. Tetris
6. Fantavision
There is a tetris movie
You forgot the worst one "The King of Fighters" (2009), totally butchered the characters...
The tekken anime movie is so kept on , literally a classic !
Thumbs down for making a video with 30 distinct parts of interest without making chapters or timestamps.
Enough with the Super Mario Bros 1993 slander. It's a great movie
I hate liars! Don't lie!
I was worried you'd include fnaf 😥. Well at least the fans love it
Rule #1 when watching a movie based on a video games. Turn off logic.
The 1st DOOM video game wasn't my cup of tea, but the first DOOM movie made up for it
I would take DOOM 2005 over alone in the dark 2005.
In my opinion, The fnaf and uncharted movie were pretty good despite bieng quite different to the original franchise UNLIKE resident evil *angry glare*
Even with surprise hits like the Detective Pikachu, the Sonic movies and the animated Mario Bros, stinkers like Borderlands keep flopping onto the scene. Hopefully we might see more games companies try to do better with the big screen adaptations. I would kill to have a decent Resident Evil movie made.
The real question is: has there ever been an actually good video game, movie adaptation?
We’ve already had video game movie tranquility. All 3 sonic films and the Mario movie.
TEKKEN was good to me. Especially when they made a sequel to it.
Uncharted was the most messed up casting I've ever seen. Why not have Wahlberg as Nathan Drake?
I actually liked the prince of Persia movie
How is Super Mario Bros not #1?!?!? The Goombas are the LITERAL POLAR OPPOSITE of what they are in the game!!! Small bodies, big heads in the game; 6'9" bodies with heads the size of a basketball in the movie!!! How am I supposed to jump on that?!?!? Miss his head and bounce off his shoulder?!?!? 😂😂
Uncharted was not a bad adaptation at all people just complained about casting story wise it was spot on.
It took until rift apart to get me to like Ratchet and Clank again
Not to defend any movies lack of Plot or character development but how are they going to criticize CGI from 22 years ago; holding it to todays standards 🙄
Let’s be honest. We all at least expected FNAF, Angry Birds, the 2nd MK movie, and that commonly forgotten Super Mario bros. Movie from the 90s, for those who have seen all 4.
Oh, and I do have to ask, was Event Horizon really all THAT good? I’m surprised that wasn’t on here.
Dude chill on the ads, way to many
Mortal Kombat was not that bad people.
Street fighter the movie isn’t terrible, it’s so bad it’s actually good
The Angry Birds Movie and Five Nights at Freddy's were great.
Monster Hunter was an absolutely horrible movie. 🤣
that film could've at least been better had it been rated R.
@ultracarterzilla6939 it still wouldn't have been a halfway decent MH movie either way.
@@CitadelofRicks true
The new mortal kombat movie was pretty bad besides the opening scene.
The one thing I hate about the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie is the casting and portrayal of Mileena and god that pissed me off so much, they should've gotten an Asian actress like Karen Fukuhara to play Mileena as she has more Mileena vibes and would've been a way better Mileena than sisi stringer.
Borderlands was made without respect to the source material. 🎉
Detective Pikachu. Enough said. And Paul W Anderson Resident Evil is just unredeemable
Borderlands should be more higher !!
How does someone sit down and think that a full length live action movie based on Tekken is a good idea?
FNAF wasn't bad. It just wasn't made with adults in mind. It had its key demographic in mind and didn't talk down to them, so adults didn't understand why it was made without fart jokes and actors pretending to be cartoon characters. Ratchet and Clank wasn't bad. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad. It was made by people who are used to making games over films, so it was a new experience. At least it was watchable and halfway entertaining. Warcraft is another one of those. It had a decent story and was trying to tell it well. The problem was that it was an animated movie made for people who think animation is only for cartoons. Also, made by the game studio over a Hollywood studio.
I feel like these entries were only added to make the list have a round number.
THE MAIN PROBLEM WITH THEZE MOVIES IS THEY WERE MADE BY PEOPLE WHO NEVER PLAYED THE GAMES AND DONT PLAY VIDEOGAMES SMH
One last thing, some of these game movies, I didn't know they were games to begin with, chasing point, need for speed, and in the name of the King. I never knew that, those words games.
You forgot about “Wing Commander” (1999)… just like the rest of the world.
Glad someone brought it up. Cat people (Kilrathi) that don't look like cats. Some of the most boring space fighter combat ever. None of the charm or appeal of the game.
Glad someone brought it up. Cat people (Kilrathi) that don't look like cats. Some of the most boring space fighter combat ever. None of the charm or appeal of the game.
Lol
