  • TEACHER DEMO. This lovely song is on p.3 of Alfred's Adult Greatest Hits Level 1. It was composed by Rogers & Hammerstein in 1959 for the Broadway musical "The Sound of Music". Then in 1965 it was made into the fabulous film version which featured Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer. The film received 5 Academy Awards and 2 Golden Globe awards and has been enjoyed around the world ever since.
The "edelweiss" is a popular flower in Austria. --Norma

This is one of the most beautiful tunes I’ve ever heard. I’m glad there are such good songs for old “beginners” like me to learn. I really like the Alfred books. Thanks for the video help. I’m finding I like yours best.

So I have been working my way through this book (I'm on Rainbow connection actually, and thank you for all your help). I notice that you place this a good bit faster than I do. They don't really give a tempo in these books. Is the way you play it the generally accepted standard or is it just performer preference?
