    -LYRICS-
There's a calm surrender to the rush of day
When the heat of the rolling world can be turned away
An enchanted moment and it sees me through
It's enough for this restless warrior just to be with you
And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer that we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best
There's a time for everyone, if they only learn
That the twisting kaleidoscope moves us all in turn
There's a rhyme and reason to the wild outdoors
When the heart of this star-crossed voyager beats in time with yours
And can you feel the love tonight? It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer that we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight? How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds believe the very best

Hello Norma, I just want to thank you for all your helpful videos and the time you take to answer people, always with kindness and tact. I started learning the piano two years ago at the age of 60 and it is one of the great joys of my life. I'm so lucky to be blessed with a wonderful, patient teacher but I find your videos and comments so helpful and encouraging. Please keep up the good work, we appreciate it. I wish I'd started years ago but its never too late eh.

Thank you so much for your kind words!! And you are absolutely right, "It's never too late" to begin learning the piano. I'd love to see more and more adults playing the piano. I think it takes more courage as an adult to begin something new and be vulnerable and struggle through the process. As adults, we often have much higher expectations than children and expect progress too quickly. But honestly, it doesn't matter if we play well or not, the simple fact that we are doing it is a very good thing. There are so many benefits physically, mentally, and emotionally that it is time well spent. And when life interrupts with travel, illness, etc., we just pick right up and start again. I'm so glad that you have found a teacher who is "wonderful and patient" and that you are truly enjoying it! And thank you for taking the time to listen and comment. I appreciate that! Aloha from Hawaii, Norma

Kia ora from New Zealand and thanks for the inspirational words. My teacher says I learn quicker than the kids, probably because I'm retired and I practice like crazy, but you are so right I put such high expectations on myself but the main thing is to enjoy it. Thanks again, I've got huge piano envy, its gorgeous, lucky you.

It's true, adults do learn to play the piano quicker than the kids. The Alfred's adult series is in 3 levels and the Alfred's children's series is in 6 levels with a lot more songs offering reinforcement for each concept. It's a myth that children learn more quickly than adults. Maybe the exception to that is technology. :) But you are correct that "practicing like crazy" makes a huge difference whether you are a child or adult. So keep up the good work and enjoy the process. And yes, I am very, very lucky to have a Bosendorfer. The sound is amazing! I absolutely love it! --Norma

Hey Norma just confirming the book 1 for classic hits is in line with Alfred's book 1 as you've got elementary level written? I'm currently on book 2 and trying to find what other Alfred's books will be in line with what I'm at in the hope I can learn songs I really enjoy on the side as extra practice.

Yes, absolutely supplement with other music that you enjoy! The "Alfred's Adult Greatest Hits Level 1" is intended to coincide with the "Alfred's Adult (All-in-One or Basic) Level 1" book. This book is progressive in difficulty level from easier to more difficult, but if you are currently on the Alfred's Adult book 2, then you should be able to play everything in this Greatest Hits Level 1 book. --Norma

Did you film this using a tripod? I’m just curious.

It's not technically a tripod, but very similar. It's 9 feet tall and actually from a VR system and we attach the camera to the top of it and angle it down. Some people mount a camera into their ceiling to achieve the overhead angle, but our ceilings are vaulted. I'm always curious too as to how others have achieved the overhead angle. --Norma
