What an adorable, happy, whimsical piece of furniture! I love that you outlined the oranges and leaves in white. When you announced in the beginning that you were going to use a potato I laughed out loud. I have used potatoes before, a looooooooong time ago when I was a Brownie, age 6, in 1952 🤣🤣🤣🤣Loved to see the return of the humble potato.🥔🍊🥔🍊

Hi Lel, i just LOVE your creative process. You are so natural, relaxed, not staged, just doing it. You are so inspirational. And i love the format of your video. No fancy music, which i find disturbing and distracting. Just you and your work. It's very relaxing. Thank you very much. You are a natural teacher!

Wow what a comment, and it's really so very kind of you.
I always think if I can show people that it is a very relaxing thing then they will be more inclined to have a go.
I used to teach confidence around art skills to adults and children and I always think just dive in and Create.
I'm really glad you like watching and I'm so super thankful for your lovely comment. It's made by day.

Agree 100,000,000% sometimes when I'm on Pinterest I'll click on something and get a blast of music at a deafening decibel level.
That's bad enough, but if it's 2 AM it can wake up my upstairs neighbor. I love listening to Lel's calm voice with that gorgeous Scottish burr. Best accent in the world.❤

@@MadebyMarley Hi Lel, for some reason I didn't see your response until now, with another person's response.
You are most welcome. Since i started watching your videos, i have much more confidence to just go for it.
But, what i also appreciate and enjoy is your authenticity and your natural state of being.
Living here in the USA, everyone strives for perfection.
What this translates into is a fake state of being. Pretense. Stress. Video makers pretend that they and their circumstances are not what they really are and that puts pressure on me to have everything perfect, my work place, my painting style, etc.
But watching you in your barn, being real, enjoying your work, is relaxing and is teaching me to be relaxed, and that it is ok to be relaxed, imperfect and just have fun.
So much of the world is striving to be American, when being American is not real, not authentic. Rather it is all staged and very stressful.
      I prefer your way.
It's healthier for both body and mind. Thank you so very much. Love to you all, Eve

Cake sounds good! 😂. I think the interactive thing sounds fun! Always wanted to go to Scotland! I live by the sea in Oregon and love all the styles and colors you use because the rustic coastal vibe thing just resonates with me! The turquoise colors especially.
I love painting and know a little about restoring furniture. I grew up with parents who were constantly refinishing antiques, so I learned all about stripping and refinishing furniture. It was sort of a taboo to even think about painting an antique! But the thing I have come to appreciate as I have gotten older is the use of moulds, paint and stencils to add character and interest to things. I love it. I feel hooked! I think you do excellent work and your videos are really helpful, so thank you!

@@MadebyMarley The sea can be very rough and wild here but we also have our nice days and miles of beach to walk on. Right now it’s salmon and crab season so lots of people are out fishing and diving for crab. We usually dress in layers to go down to the beach and the ocean itself is freezing cold, so not the tropical beachy environment at all. Your artwork would fit in very well around here. Florence has lots of artists but I haven’t seen any of the furniture art that yours and a couple of other UA-cam channels specialize in.

      Hi Sydney
Yes sometimes you can create piece just using stuff from your craft stash.
My paint is a paint that is suitable for glass and plastic and when cured is very stable on glass. This would not work with a chalk based type of paint.
I also ran over it with a tiny artist brush and sealer as I sold it recently.
      The customer was thrilled...

Hello Lel, I watched this video Loooots of times trying to gather my courage to do something similar but on a smaller scale. I did not see in the description what kind of paint you used for the armoire??? Have my potatoes at ready 😁 but again not sure if you dip them in chalk paint or other kind of paint. I would very much appreciate your answer. And thanks again for posting all this amazing tutorials. Blessings 🙏

      Blessings to you
Glad to know you have the potatoes at the ready... Ha ha
I used an all in one paint it's a UK brand but to be honest any paint will do I could have did this with chalk paint but I will explain my thinking. I knew I wanted to paint onto the glass and that meant I had to then go over the details with a sealer...... So
Being lazy I opted for an all in one paint that works on all surfaces ie plastic or glass etc
And this enabled me to do only one step...
So I guess I'm saying either or for your paint however if your piece has glass remember yo seal your chalk paint leaves with a sealer and just use a small artist brush..
If I've not answered this right let me know... I'm here right now. You don't want your tatties going green... Ha ha ha
