Thanks Dave! You gave me the motivation and knowledge to get mine done today. The scrubbing wasn’t easy and getting that wash plate clean is near impossible. I soaked it and gave it a rigorous bath. There is still soap scum inside those plastic grooves. Nevertheless, it’s 90% clean and still had a little soap scum after the self clean, but minimal after the first load of laundry. Shame on Samsung for this product. We shouldn’t have to deep clean this beast every 1-2 years. Thanks again brother and thanks for your service!

Hi Dave, thank you so much for the step by step instructions on how to disassemble my Samsung washing machine. For 2-3 years, we've had black flakes on our clothes after washing. We've tried several different cleaning methods, but none have ever worked for more than a few weeks. I knew the machine needed cleaned inside. but I didn't know how to take it apart. So thankful that I found your video and that you took the time to share the process for disassembly and reassembly. However, I was not prepared for the amount of gunk inside. We've had it for 8-9 years and it was terrible! Took 2 1/2 hours to clean all the parts, but it looks great now!. I'll make it a point to clean it every 2 years from here forward. Again, thank yoiu for your help.

I just bought one of these off of someone and they never mentioned the mold and mildew problem!! I just installed the washer yesterday and have been researching how to fix it but I read you should always leave the lid open after running a load otherwise it doesn't dry out in there and that traped moisture allows the mold to grow back.

Cleaning with white vinegar helps prevent mold coming back so fast, beyond doing a great job of cleaning. I learned this from personal experience we have hard water. I can clean my toilets and two days later there was black stuff back so what I started doing was taking paper towels or old rags soaking them in white vinegar and sticking them up inside the holes where the toilet water comes out. It cleaned it but it also prevents it from building back up. I clean the toilets like once a week and it's not a problem but I do the same with the washer, once a week I run a self-cleaning mode with vinegar in it

Great video!! It helped me disassemble so I can clean the moldy gunk under the drum. This seems to be a problem for these samsung washers in where it spins out all of the water from laundry, but does not spin all of the water out of the bottom of the tub.

Thanks for posting these videos, helped me tackle the rest of this nightmare cleaning job after pulling the agitator and scrubbing/scraping what was visible wasn't enough to keep the gunk from coming back. I suspect previous owner used too much detergent, in addition to these not spinning out all the water under the agitator as others have mentioned. I'll make a habit now of running a spin cycle each time I pull my laundry out.
    What a mess!

I too have been getting brown stains, lines and gunk all over my clothes and in the bottom of the drum. I've tried everything and nothing is working. I'm soooo excited that you shared this. I never knew that i had to maintain and clean the drum. Im definitely going to give this a try! Again, thank you so much for sharing your thorough step by step video! Cheers! 🧼🧺

Good job! Thanks for making this video. About to do this to my own, going to focus on the inside of the drum and the drain pump because residue isn't only pooling in my machine, but the residue isn't being drained out with the water. Have to replace all 4 damper rods too because it can't get through the rinse cycle without an error code, the rinse cycle being I'm pretty sure the step that those debris that are clogging the drain pump are supposed to be removed! So one problem caused another and now I have 2 to deal with at once but I think these 2 issues will be a thousand or two less dollars to repair than the machine would be to replace.

I don’t get this about modern washing machines and dishwashers. Thirty years ago these appliances used to self-clean every time they were being used. No need for extra cleaning cycles or products to keep them clean. No mould, no gunk, no weird smells. Must be some kind of modern design flaw.

Great video. Once you clean everything part of the problem is the agitator, the round disc at the bottom of the drum. Samsung made the agitator out of plastic cover with aluminum, the two pieces won't come apart and it collects water, therefore black mold builds up in between and can't be cleaned. If you have an air compressor you can use it to blow air through the holes from plastic side, it is better if you let it soak but you can only blow out whatever is around the holes. This is a screw-up from Samsung. This part should be replaced free 6 charged since it can't be serviced or cleaned.

By the way, just fill up with water from your garden hose. Use 3oz of muratic acid and leave it alone for couple of hours. Thank me later.

Never again will I buy an h e washer. I never had to go through all this crap with my old school washer. What idiot engineering came up with this idea? They obviously didn't think it through.
