This is an EXCELLENT video, I was trying like hell to get that agitator out for 2 hours, did what the video said and BOOM....60 seconds I had it out...thanks again !!!!!
Slick tip. Worked great but I also sprayed a bit of WD40 down the centre bolt hole, let it sit to break up the "goo" and then with a little wiggle it came right out. Had a small burr, used a small file and all is good. Thanks for this.
Thank you Ben, I just saw your video and immediately went into my shop and removed 3 wash plates that I couldn't get off. 2 were steel, 1 was plastic. I was worried the plastic one might break but if I couldn't get the plate off the machine would be junk anyway. Thanks to you, I have 3 more washers in stock! Simon, Australia.
Tried several other methods to remove the Pulsator Assembly on my LG WT1101CW washer and this worked! Thought I was gonna have to cut it out. I did bend it because it did not just pop out, but I was going to replace it anyway. Thanks
Combo of the screws (dry wall screws fit perfectly!) plus boiling water on the splines worked for me. One trick too is that instead of pulling from the screws simultaneously, try wiggling back and forth from left hand to right hand.
You probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I somehow lost the password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Miller Cory thanks so much for your reply. I found the site through google and Im in the hacking process now. Takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I had two ratchet straps with a TON of tension on the plate edges. Didnt move one bit. Added two #10 deck screws and it slid nicely up. Thanks a bunch!
Thanks for this video. I used it for my Whirlpool Cabrio plastic wash plate and it was the only way to lift the plate. I also applied wd40 into the main shaft hole after removing the bolt with a ratchet to break up rust. Thanks again!
I had the same issue today and mine was stuck on very very tight. I did not use screws but I did leave the bolt and cap off. I ran a normal cycle and within 5 minutes it popped off on its own.
I tried WD40 trick but was no help. I was successful using the method another commenter suggested and that was to put it through a wash cycle after having removed the plate bolt. Worked like a charm. Plate came off within a couple of minutes on its own. Used the Whites setting so water was hot. I suspect that helps. Thank you to that commenter and for this video!
Hi Ben. I was able to remove my plate without the screws by using the two channel locks in the middle hole. Just grabbed onto the opposite edges and pulled it right out. Thanks for the first steps though.
I like the screw idea. But I just used two small Allen wrenches and slipped the short end through the hole and turned until long end was sticking up and pulled up with pliers. This kept me from having to thread anything. Try it on your next one and let me know what you think.
This technique worked for me (screws), it left small imperfections on the aluminum and my clothes got all frayed up. Just replaced the whole plate. Thank you for the tips though.
Thank you, this video saved my washing machine project! The screws left burrs which I’m trying to file down, but they also bent the edges of the drain holes slightly upward. What’s the best way to get them reshaped downwards? I’m worried about snags on clothes.
I sure wish this worked for my unit. I also tried this with boiling hot water and it didn't even budge. Lifted the whole unit off the ground, shook it like a dog toy, and then gave it a few choice words...nothing! Looks like I am going to have to use the cutting out the center method. Good idea though. I will at least give you a thumbs up like for helping others.
really clever idea... doing this right now. i found the perfect screws and was able to get 2 solid grips and pulled very hard slowly applying more "strength"....but when it got to the point where i thought i might actually warp the plate... it was still stuck on. any ideas? are "LG" washers different for some reason?
@@debbiegriffin9288 no! I called LG and they sent out a repairman since I was still under warranty and the guy couldn't get it off either!! I've just learned to live with the grinding noise. Something is obviously stuck in there like a coin or piece of metal, but it doesn't affect the performance.
@@Andrew-Comi ,thanks for your reply. mine is not under warranty and I am just trying to clean between the plates. I tried everything! I think that since yours was under warranty they should have found a way to fix it. Hopefully you won't have issues in the future.
Hi Ben I have an LG and have taken it off at lest 3 times to clean soap scum out. This time it was stuck and I tried using a bent probe used in auto body. The probe did not do the job and I heated a pot of hot water and put it all over the center hub slowly . I then pulled up and down several time fast using the bent probe in the center opening and it came out.
Just put out another video this week with more ideas to remove it. Sometimes you gotta break it and destroy it, but there's a few more ideas in that video involving more gentle, but potentially just as effective.
A couple other suggestions that worked for me: putting it in spin with the bolt in a few threads after the citric acid treatment (or with it). And, I haven't tried it yet, but inflatable airbags.
I CANNOT get my plate off! I've tried running various tub clean cycles with the cap off/bolt out. I've run it with vinegar, iron out, plain water you name it. I have have been trying to pull it up with the screws, grabbing on to them with the plyers and pulling up....but this thing won't budge. We have really hard water here where I live and I've never taken the plate off in 8 years. Is it just a gonner at this point? Do you pull straight up, or wiggle when pulling up? Any other tricks?
I tried the above a couple times, plus citric acid and zap degreaser.. NOTHING worked! I then sprayed the middle (where you remove the screw with a wrench) with WD40. I waited 30 seconds and tried again with screw tip from the video and it popped off with little to no effort. Really appreciate the tips. If I were to do again I’d prob give the Allen wrench tip in the comments and WD40. Thanks again!
Ben, is the washplate supposed to move independently of the outer washtub, or is that an indication that the splines on the washplate are stripped ? Thanks for the videos.
My pulsator/wash plate is significantly stuck to the drive shaft!!! Can I use WD-40 or olive oil or similar to get it loose? I've tapped and pried... Obviously, I don't want to introduce clothes staining, but cannot get it out (without damaging the pulsator, I fear).
My machine is a LG WT-H8006 ONLY 7 year old (first LG was14yrs before I replaced it & better bag type filter system) Current machine started throwing a LE ? motor error. turned out more fluff and grey brown grit causing the blockage. I don't know where that grey grit is coming from. I managed to get machine going again filling with hot water, sitting and washing with soap powder. Bloody thing is working again, AFTER I bought a new machine. This machine wash plate is stuck on well, and I think I have more junk under the plate than yours. I'm going to do a vid soon on secret chemicals you can use to remove obstructions under the wash plate - both for cleaning the washer, and getting rid of the garbage that could keep the wash plate on it. I bought a few different chemicals to see what works, and my hope is the video will help resove the issues. The gunk you dealt with is probably from the hot water ripping apart some of the scum underneath which held the motor on the LE error.
Can you make a video that is not on UA-cam or any websites on how to remove Samsung agitator (Not the Impeller) I notice a lot of youtubers think the impeller is a agitator. Thanks
DON'T DO THIS! TRY MY METHOD INSTEAD!! I watched a TON of these videos and only 1 worked. I felt dumb after trying all the tools and straps. Just take off the plastic cap. Remove the bolt. Pour in some bleach and set it on 'Tub Clean'. I canceled the cycle at 0:50 and the washplate was there floating in the water. Stupid easy. The tub will drain automatically after a while or you can just close the lid and let it complete the cycle. I felt silly after trying to manhandle the washer! (Note: I'm 5'2" petite female and probably wouldn't have been able to muscle that thing off anyways.)
Definitely. It's likely not only dirty under the wash plate, but inside it between the two pieces. Check this video out that shows the scum inside the wash plate assembly... ua-cam.com/video/MftBIx1fNYA/v-deo.html I haven't come across a tutorial for separating those two pieces yet...
Hopefully the screws will never be forgotten to be removed. Lol I'd use a disinfectant as well or a cleaner that disinfectant as well as cleans. The manufacturer should design it with a hole to utilize a common tool for removal.😊
Just don’t understand why didn’t lag use a fully/completely stainless steel repeller instead … I just got a new LG “fully stainless steel tub” model washer and honestly I was a bit disappointed as after how much I paid I didn’t get what I was expected to have.

There is a better method use a flat strap from like one from a ratchet strap work the center of the strap under the wash plate and pull on both sides of the strap this method presents you from screwing into the wash plate
I actually tried that, and it still wouldn’t release. In fact to gain more leverage, I actually put a piece of wood across the top of the washer and pulled so hard I was afraid I was gonna bend the wash plate and half. That SOB is stuck like it was glued on.
I looked into this during filming and unless you have 3" screws, theres a pretty large gap underneath the plate between the plate and the tub due to how the inner metal tub is mounted

WD40 works so much faster and less steps. Just spray and let it set (I let it set over night). Obviously our machines aren't this clean and have lots of gunk holding the wash plate like glue. Then you won't have to use screws, it'll come right off!
When I try and remove the bolt I can hear everything spinning underneath. Even when I try and hold the plate in place, I can hear everything underneath it spinning.
I'm going to put out a "2.0" version of this video at some point, as this doesn't always equal a sure-shot for every style of washer.
