The gag after lifting the agitator sums up my impression of samsung perfectly
Thank you sir, this really saved my butt. Picked up a used Samsung to find the debris coming into wash, thought I got screwed over. You made it look simple and it was really calming to see your broken down step by step (all 3 videos). And thank you for your service!
Glad it helped. Bad thing is this happens often with this washer. Avoid using fabric softeners. Just use soap. N run clean cycle once a week.
My son just bought my set yesterday, and I was afraid he'd gotten taken by a friend. Now I know it's salvageable!!
My only comment would be to put the bolts back in the agitator a couple of turns and use that as leverage to pull it out. Awesome video thank you so much!!
This comment has to be pinned out. No effort needed ! Thanks !
One of those “why didn’t I think of that” moments. Thank you for this!
how? the threads are in the piece below the cover, not in the cover itself.
I tried this and zero effort!!! Thank you!!!!
Thank you! I will try this. My washer is giving off an awful smell after being in storage for two years. I would clean it and never understand why the smell would not go away. This video is a big help. Thanks again!
Awesome, glad I could help
Omg Mr. Guam Knight!! I have been searching youtube for a way to remove bottom of drum. it is separating from sides. this method or removal will allow me to realign the bottom to sides. God Bless people who want to share their knowledge and experience.
Thanks for sharing! Nailed it step by step! Your awesome.. and I had no extra screws left over lol 👍
That’s great Randy. Glad I could help. Mind u, I have had to repeat this about every six months. Recommend using the clean cycle weekly if u wash often.
Every 6 months is ridiculous. This is a design flaw.
Thank you for these videos it helped us so much and putting the bolt back in a few turns worked perfectly to get it out
Glad I could help.
Great video, it should've been the first of all suggestions... The agitator/pulsator for me would not come out all; I had to use a 1 1/4" holesaw adapter to bore it out then dremal the core to install the new pulsator... Again thank you much for your video as it saved me hundreds of dollars... Calling Samsung and appliance workes was no help at all as they only suggested to buy a new one
Your welcome. Tks for the comment.
I'm dealing with this now. I've tried almost everything in the comments and I can't get it out
@@mikecoffin9236same here, any solutions?
July 8th 2024 dads chain got stuck and with your help I got out it thanks 🙏🏼
Your video save my day bruh, thank you!!
Thanks.
OMG! I laughed out loud at your son gagging at 12 seconds in! HAHAHA! Great video though, thanks!
Great video. Superb assistants.😊
The middle of the agitator sits on what looks like a splined or geared shaft a couple inches long. It took me a while but finally was able to pull it off. Inspect the agitator when you pull it off. Mine had a lot of gunk in between the plastic backing and the metal sheeting.
How did you clean out between the plastic backing and metal sheeting? I’ve cleaned everything else but there is so much of it in between the metal and plastic that it will do no good to put it back in the washer. The agitated still smells because of it too but cannot figure out how to clean between since it doesn’t seem to come apart
@Amy Clark it's not meant to come apart. If you want to take it apart, you are going to have to pry the edges of the metal up and take it apart that way. It sucks but that is what I did. Or buy a new agitator.
Great videos!! This was exactly what I wanted to see!! Thank you. Don
Super amazing helpful!!! So now, my turn.
Too easy, u got this.
Mine doesn’t have the 10mm bolts holding the drum in just a giant 35mm bolt in the center holding the tub in. Couldn’t get it off! Need to buy a large socket.
When you put that stainless steel tub back in you need to separate it between it and the spider with something so they are not touching each other the stainless steel will eat up the metal that the spider is made of it will oxidize and corrode it away and coat the bolts with something when you put them back in
David Hutchison, What product should I use to coat the bolts?

Hello Dave, hmmm sitting here watching your video because I just bought a Samsung Top Load washer set. I have self cleaning would I really need to do this? Which I would only be washing once a month. Please respond it will be appreciated and thanks for sharing.
Thank you. This help. I will definitely try it.
Nice video really helped me clean my washer
As easy as it is to clean this. I had to open em up again today. Only six months and so much dirt again.
My 10mm bolt in the center under the cap snapped off. How do I remove the rest of the bolt?
@@Christopherj1225
Or
If u are able to remove the agitator a Nut extractor would work best. Look at UA-cam videos on nut extractor.
u would need to purchase an item called an extractor. On Loews website it is item #, 832032, here’s a video how to use.
Do not over torque. Dab some wd40 on it.
ua-cam.com/video/EWLxzuDMuhk/v-deo.html
i just did mine thank you for the video
My husband can’t get the bolt in the center unscrewed. He’s tried a few tools and it just will not budge. Do you think it’s rusted on? At this point he may have stripped it.😬 Any suggestions?
Dab some penetrating oil. Let soak for 15 min. N try again
@@guamknight6715 thank you! Will give it a try. I appreciate your video!
I noticed that there’s some water left in the drum .. I have a similar Samsung top loader..
Is it normal to have water left over in the drum ?
Yes
Can’t remove the screw that holds agitator in place
Do i have to go through all that in the back of the washer or can I just go into the washer and take out the bottom bolt?
Watch all videos first, I explain some errors.
On the agitator I used plyers on the sides of the screw where the screwdriver holes are and it pulled right out
Awesome job
Thanks just trying to help everyone out as much as I can.
great video...however it is so unfair that you have to do this! I am going to do this tomorrow...samsung knows about these issues and are still selling them...i had a whirlpool for 13 years not one problem i moved and left my washer at my previous home. Bought a samsung 1 year and 9 months ago and the smell is horrible...i already spent money because i thought it was the pump...not the pump...im so FRUSTRATED W samsung!
Sorry to hear that. How was cleaning, it work out?
GuamKnight 671 this happens with all top load washing machines. It does not matter who the manufacturer is this is just what happens with the top load washing machines.
Lane Kelly does this happen with front loaders also? Or mainly a issue for top loaders?
Our whirlpool cabrio is way better than this machine. We pulled this machine apart, scrubbed the drum, scrubbed the agitator, it's still has dirt at the bottom after running it.
May i know what size off that big bolt on the center. Thanks. 😊
How do you get the rest of the water out
Any preventative measures that will help prevent the washer from building this much gunk under the agitator?
I did use the clean cycle once a week, since the first cleaning. Adding a lot of bleach to help.
@@guamknight6715
Even with weekly tub cleaning the base of your agitator still got that dirty??
Use less detergent than you think in your loads. The excess doesn’t get washed out (HE machines use less water), so residue accumulates.
@@Dust4Vomit thanks. I have been using deep wash cycle which adds more water to the cycle 😊👍 and putting a washer cleaner tab monthly and haven't had any issues in 10months since we got the machine 👍
Anyone know if these top load units have filters like the front load ones?
Also, I watched another video where the guy is able to pull the agitator (appropriate name for this mechanism 🤣) up with a pair of channel locks on the plastic where the bolt is housed. My unit is too flat in that area to grab anything here... However, I was able to use heavy gauge wire fed through the holes where the pulsator cap goes. Once I had one in each hole I bent them so I could feed the bend a bit further. Then twist the bend. The twist positions the bent part underneath this area allowing a cradle like effect. Then pull all 3 wires straight up at the same time. This worked really well for me. Took about 3 minutes to fabricate and implement. Hope it helps! Also, there's a part number underneath the pulsator cap. Typed into an Amazon search the part comes up OEM for about 6 bucks. I wish I had watched this video before as I wouldn't have damaged the tabs, lol. Thank you Sir for your video and for your service to our country!

Can I ask you a question? Is there anyway to swap out the flat agitator and get the long agitator? I don’t know if I’m explaining right but was curious, thanks.
Don’t know
You have to buy it separately and install it. No part of the low profile agitator is used on the tower agitator(Activewave agitator)
Thanks
Hope it went well. Lmk
I can’t get the agitator out.
So we cant seem to "fanagle" ours out, or pull hard or anything... got any other suggestions 🤪
Dab some wd40 or any penetrating oil
I"m getting a DC error on my machine. Will a cleaning like this fix this issue?
No clue, sorry
I've been getting a DE error. Seems like the drum is out of alignment. I've switched to only a low spin cycle and doesn't do it anymore.
I can not remove the agitator to save my life! We’ve been working on it for the last fews days and just get so irritated and quit. Lol. It honestly feels like a screw or something is holding it down, but it’s probably just stuck from crud. Any suggestions on what could loosen it up???
Dab some wd40 on it. Use two flathead screw drivers to help you pry it upward straight up. Hope it helps

Dab some wd40 on it. Use two flathead screw drivers to help you pry it upward straight up. Hope it helps
We’ve tried flatheads and paint can openers, spraying with wd-40 still no luck
We also just tried a hammer to pry it up and it broke the hammer 🤔
Good
So tell me how exactly you got the agitator out of there really because you didn't just pop up with your hands according to part 1 fantastic scissors and everything else upon her to pop it up I guess that's the magic of editing why even make a video if you're not going to show how you did it
It’s just sitting in top. Dab some wd40 then pull straight up. Use two flat screwdrivers to grab lip. No prying , just pull upwards
We removed the bolt 🔩 and we can't remove the agitator.. Why?
Vanessa Blanchard u gotta try harder, perhaps just a lot of gunk. Use a screw driver as I did.
@@guamknight6715 thanks! I didn't saw what you used.
Any luck? U get it out?
@@guamknight6715 nope 😕.. We tried for a good half hour, did not move a millimeter!.. It's a year and a half old washer, I don't think it's that stuck.. I really wanna clean it😫
It should slide right up, wedge a flat screw driver along lip, to help slide it upward.
I can’t get the agitator out for the life of me. I even tried prying with all my night with 2 paint can openers. What’s the secret?
Soak some wd40 or other penetrfluid - few minutes. It just sits atop there, take two flat head screw drivers, and pull straight up. No twisting.
Good luck
a 4:30 video, 4 minutes of which was removing six (6) bolts.......bro, you can edit at least 4 of those out and tell us you removed them......great info in the video though
o m g....
?, u have a comment?
My agitator won't come out!
Dab some wd40 over screw. Let soak a bit.
Screw came out fine it was the agitator. I got it out but it was a pain. Thanks.
Is this what’s causing stains on my clothes 🤓
Yes sir
I absolutely hate this washer.
Concur, that’s y I sold mine.
@@guamknight6715 smart man!
Clean your washer weekly and or when the cleaning sensor comes on, then you will not have this problem.
If you mess around doing what this guy is doing with a Samsung washer..they will not honor the Warrenty..Period ❗️❗️
I have lost several socks 🧦 in my top load washer. I know it’s in the washer…no where else.
My dryer has no openings that would eat up my socks 🧦
I found a super easy way to get the agitator out. I bent two wire hangers and slipped the ends into two holes on opposite sides of the agitator and wiggled it out. Came out in two seconds.
Struggled and made me sweat for 30min before reading this comment. Worked instantly!
TY
You the real MVP!
So I watched another video and he screwed the bolt back in just a little and pulled and the agitator lifted right up !! Way easier then sticking wires into the holes
Good video - thank you! I am so sick of all the flakes on clean laundry. Samsung is no help with their "cut and paste" comment about cleaning monthly with bleach. It doesn't work! I would never ever ever buy a Samsung washer again.
They are junk without a doubt. I can’t wait to replace ours with a speed queen.
I’ve been telling my parents for months why our washer stunk… I finally removed the agitator to prove why and it was as dirty as I was expecting. Built up over years… I’m never neglecting my washer again.
Excellent video and instructions! BE CAREFUL!!!! When I cleaned my drum, the underneath was razor sharp. Cut two fingers to the bone and had to go to the emergency room. I recommend handling the drum with a good pair of leather gloves. Disappointed with Samsung but my guess is it's the Fabric Softener combined with the HE or low water usage. I have Samsung WA52M. A good cleaning and it looks and smells like new. Thanks.
Keep the 10mm bolt in there a little bit and then pull up. That’ll get the pulsator/agitator up. We struggled to get it off, but put the bolt back in a few threads and used that to lift it up. Worked instantly
Thank you so so much. I was struggling
THIS, THIS is the way! 💯
I did that and instead i lifted the whole washing machine off the ground. This shit is stuckkkkkkkk
@@giddeongaines492 same way, any solution??
@@samc.1064 yup I bought a new washer
We just bought a home and the previous owners left this brand washer and dryer behind. I did the deep clean function because the washer had a really bad smell and when it was finished there was so much debris I could not believe my eyes. My husband wiped it out but days later there's still an awful smell. The entire washer looks so filthy, full of pet hair and tons of grime. I want to get rid of it but my husband really likes it. So now seeing this video and knowing we can properly clean it I've decided to keep the washer. Thank you so much for making this video👍
Glad I could help. Best of luck.
Just bought a home-same situation.. How's it going 10 months later?
My husband bent two forks and stuck them under the agitator and it lifted out with some effort. He needed more surface area underneath it than just two screwdrivers. To be fair, this was also after 30 minutes of trying to get it out with the screw drivers lol
I used vasaline on that large corroded reverse nut and melted it into the threads. I used a torch lighter. It only took seconds to melt the vasaline. Then the reverse threaded nut came off easily.
I did this today and the worst part by far was the agitator, but the internal part.
I have to use a flat screwdriver and separate de metal from the plastic and right in there was the 90% gunk and nasty oddor
For anyone else tackling this job. When removing the agitator, after you remove the 10mm bolt, its easiest to use a paint can opener in the center where you removed the bolt. Catch the lip of the metal and lift straight up evenly.
Yes! I was cleaning the agitator/pulsator off and was wondering where all the gunk was coming from. Finally realized it was in between the plastic backing and the metal. Pretty bad design if you ask me.
I tried pulling that agitator out by prying and then it occurred to me that the bolt can be inserted a few turns and used to pull it out. Much easier!
This ^^^. Wish I had read this hours ago!
It's the Samsung Mold Master Top Loader Washing Machine!
So I don't know how.to remove the water from. The drum even after I remove it from.the washer
...
... help please ????
Thanks for making this video. We were also sick of the mildew flakes and odor. Self clean didn’t work.
Thank you. Hope it helps.
Great DIY Video . Thank You
NICE!!!!!!!!!!
Good video but this a joke of design
Just did this in the process of cleaning it out. Your videos really helped me and saved me a ton of $$$ Thank you!!!!
Please do not use frabic conditionar in washing machine... They cause all sorts of problems... Don't use cold wash, warm or hot only.. Clean tub every month using oxy wash or dishwasher powder on hottest wash...
How did you get the middle piece off? I am unable to pop that middle piece off that covers the middle?
took me a while too i used a skinny screw driver in the middle to pop it up
I stuck a flathead in the holes and wiggled, go to next hole, wiggle, etc. it popped up after about three of these for me.
Use a paint key to put the agitator up!
This was extremely helpful, thanks!
I gagged at the same exact time as the person in your house. And that was just from remembering what i saw when i looked at mine!
Thanks for the great video!!
Thanks for comment. Glad it could help.
We’re running into the issue where our bolt in the middle won’t come up , any suggestions ?
Spray some wd40 on it. Use two flat screen drivers to pull agitator straight up.
Dang half the video taking bolts out, would have been faster with a driver drill
Have the same washer. It's worst washing machine I've ever used.
Thank you
Glad it helped
I am having issues getting the drum out, any ideas? Mine is different then this one in the video .. I've searched so many videos. Any ideas??
Sorry I don’t. Most work the same way
So how did you get the bottom piece off??? That’s what I’m having trouble with and you never explained.
Pulls straight up. Use two flat screwdrivers to help pull up. Don’t pry, pull only. Dab some penetrating oil over screw, may be a bit rusted.
Please confirm so i can just go directly and remove the agitator i don't need todo the first part of take the control part apart?????
Yes, however u won’t be able to clean beneath drum.
Would you say pressure washing the bottom and then vacuum the remaining dirt would work to avoid disassembling this? I’m trying to see if there is a workaround this to clean it by only removing the agitator.
Unlikely, dirt sticks to side of tub too
I noticed your GB gis in the background. Lol
I'm having washer smell issues because I wash SO. MANY. GIS!!! Thanks for the video 🙂
I hear u. My son n brother need their own washer. Lol.

Dang i tried all my best to pull that efin agitator out but i didnt succeed🥴
Drop some penetrating oil over the bolt area. Must be a lot of gunk in there holding it in.

@@guamknight6715 i used the drill but turned it manually, i guess im stronger than the drill power
After we removed the drum there was about half an inch of standing water under it that’s not draining out. Any idea how to get it to drain/if that’s normal?
PS thanks so much for all the info, we just moved into a house with this washer and it is filthy
Honestly, I’ve not seen this happen. Perhaps just the cleaning would help. Be sure to clean out the lowest portion at rear bottom left, if I recall. Perhaps just clogged a bit. Good luck.
I have a question, my top load Samsung washer only 2 years old and is getting some scratches from my son and husband’s jeans. How to you fix the scratches and to keep the buttons rubbing in the washer?
I’d start reversing the jeans inside out to wash. As for the scratches, leave be. It shouldn’t damage your clothes.

Great informative vid, but how do you figure the dirt under the tub gets into your wash?
Using too much detergent in your loads causes it it to stick around and build up in the machine, then the dirt from your clothes just keeps sticking to it. Happened to me. Repair person explained it
@@yvettebedolla1142 thank you!
Is there a lint feature
Don’t think so.

How did you got the agitator out? Mine seems to be stuck real good... And I don't want to force too much on the center part where the screw was and break the plastic. Any advise? Thanks
Dab some penetrating oil over it. Take two flat screw drivers to grab at inner lip of it, n pull straight up. Agitator just sits in there.
@@guamknight6715 I found a solution that is even better.
Take two screws #8x1 1/4", screw them on the holes trough the agitator and then take two pliers and lift. It does less damages.
You pay a repair man for the same reason your boss pays you. I'm sure your boss can do the work himself. But why break your back when someone can do it for you and has the knowledge of how to do it
How the heck did you get the agitator to pop out? I removed the bolt and still can’t get it loose.
Try dabbing some wd-40 on it. Let soak, take two flat head screwdrivers n wedge between lip of ledge, n pull straight upwards. Hope it helps.
