    Thank you for posting your build videos. You explain your process clearly and make your design vision understandable. My mind doesn't work like that and I have trouble figuring out how to start a bowl like you make. Beautiful work and great ideas.

    Hi Tom I love segmented work, especially when I see how you all go about doing it. This pattern you have here is very interesting and intricate. I am amazed at how you go about doing it. Awesome thank you.

Your art is beautiful!! And they said you didn't use math after you got out of school. LOL! Don't worry, as I watch them I'll hit the like button on every one of them !!

    I just saw this video and subscribed. You do beautiful work. Very inspirational. If you haven't already, could you please do an instructional video on how you design your projects, or at least mention the design software? Thanks for posting your work.

      John, most of my design comes from me seeing it in my head and then putting it on paper.

    Wow. Any estimates on the number of hours one of these takes you? Or the amount of glue you go through on a project? My son and I have watched many turning videos but only recently discovered segmented bowls. It looks like the actual material cost would be substantially less with this kind of bowl....is that true? Of course, the labor makes the final project much more, lol.

    Incredible Tom.....curious hoe much time goes into design thru finish

    this seems like such an easier way to do the segmented bowl then cutting tiny angles and this seems like you waste less wood. think i might give it a go!

    Beautiful bowl. Why dont you try a guide to cut the rings out. Make a hole in the middle of wood at center and put a metal peg in to attach to the scroll saw table to get perfect cuts. Just a idea.

    • @TomLohman
      @TomLohman  6 років тому

      I do not want to put a hole in my work, the rings that are not even does not cause issues seeing that you lathe the bowl.

    How do you remove the pine stock when you've finished the top of the bowl, and how do you finish the bottom?

    • @TomLohman
      @TomLohman  6 років тому

      I am going to assume when you say pine stock you mean the sacrifice wood at the bottom. All I do it part it off, and this will finish the bottom as well. I sand the bottom to get make it smooth.
