- This video demonstrated the production of trapezoid shaped wedges for incorporation in segmented rings in wood turning projects. These wedges are produced on the band saw utilizing the Accu-Wedge system by tilting the band saw table 10 degrees. This video details the process of producing these wedges and segmented rings. Sir you are amazing I am totally bemused about the things you do. I am a lady of 72 and not a woodturner at all. I always wondered how and what the woodturners do what they do. Until I found it on UA-cam, and now I can not stop watching you all. My absolute favourite is segmented work it is fantastic and breathtakingly stunning and beautiful.

You have added a whole new dimension to wood turning, your quite the craftsman and I must ask; we’re you an engineer?
I'm not sure about adding things to epoxy, but I have heard that adding a pinch of table salt to the glued surfaces after applying a thin layer helps the wood grab and not slide as easily, you may want to give it a shot :)
I was coming into the comments to say the same thing. I've also heard that, I tried it and it worked. But I have not tried it with epoxy.
Great video and thanks for posting with such detail. The Accu Slice System is very innovative indeed; thus the high price tag. I'm assuming the blanks (sticks) you start with are square in profile and not already trapezoidal. It is unclear from the camera angle. Is this the case? Keep up the good work! CDE
A short section of the appropriate size PVC pipe placed in the center will keep it from collapsing in.
if you happened to have a cylinder of some sort that was equal (or pretty close to) to the inside diameter of your glued-up ring, it might make the rubber banding process a little less precarious. :-) interesting concept at any rate.
Curious if the system is your own design, or if you’re “just” the company guru. Either way, amazing work!
Two more comments I use Zip Ties and a tightening Plier to hold them together, on these I would probably take two plywood circles to make a mini press while gluing up.
Love the set up! Question, how do you determine the segment edge length for this ( or any) ring ?
Sir why don't you make a round piece covered with plastic, the size of the middle of the segment ring. Put it in the middle then put the rubber bands around it.
What band saw blade blade to you use to get a good smooth cut?
I am using a 3/4" wide Timber Wolf Blade - 14 tpi.
@@Accu-Slice Thanks, I looked on Timber Wolf's site, they seem to only recommend that blade for only 1/2 inch. It looks like your cutting 2"? I'm going to order one and give it a try.
A 1/2" wide blade is fine for ripping straight boards. But if you are cutting segments at an oblique angle across the grain of the wood you will need a 3/4" wide blade to avoid blade drift.
Could you do this on a table saw by tilting the blade 10'? don't see why not
The Accu-Slice and Accu-Wedge will not work on a table saw. It would just be too dangerous. The same goes for using a wedgie sled on a table saw, I think that it would be quite dangerous.

What epoxy did you use?
I use the West Epoxy system available on Amazon.
I don't understand why you need the two different fences.
With this technique what is important is the angle between the two fences. If you were just using one fence, then the angle of the cut made by the band saw blade would need to be exact in order to obtain perfect segmented discs.
look up videos on wedgie jig for cutting agles. The 2 fences are X degrees angled apart so when you alternate from them your slices maintain that angle (rotate 180 degrees). makes set up easy.
Nice idea ... But looks like a nightmare to make. He says it is easy, bet it ain't.
