Im so fricking glad to see your guys' channel pop off like the finest ar-platform. It was super interesting to see you featured on different channels and grow as a team to start your own. This will forever be a part of your legacy as military personnel, you're an inspiration to the newcomers to dive into mulitary culture. There are no limits! Keep up the good work fellas.
Guys, I wanna make a confession. I think I ate more MREs in my 4 years of ROTC where I only did army for like 10 hours a week compared to the past 6 months I've spent in the active duty infantry. I almost always bring trail mix, protein bars, beef jerky, and roasted chickpeas into the field with me. I just hate eating cold, unseasoned meat suspended in a weird sauce.
I also hope that they are still in contact with the "Special Friend" from the past episodes... But when they are asking for help/advice with the foreign rations/Customs Situation, it might not be looking good with the special friend...
Back in the late 80's early 90's my friends aunt who was in the military that we called "uncle Kathy" would give us those brown with black text MRE's for lunches. Not sure where she got them but they were cool when we were kids. =D
I've had my share of MRE's over time, both American and foreign ones. The things I always looked forward to when opening the MRE's is the orange flavor powder and whatever sweets like Skittles. I'm big on my sweets. Also the jalapeño cheese spread, just makes the bread more palatable. I do agree with the marble pound cake, it's great for being in an MRE. It'll be cool to see you guys collab with one of the big MRE channels like Steve1989.
At about three minutes in it is noted that you only get a main meal rather than a 'kit' with the civilian MRE. This depends on what you are buying - the company that I like (Ration X, which I buy from the UK Amazon store) sells it's MRE main meals as well as 'MREs', which contain snacks, drinks, plastic cutlery, a heater etc. I buy the 'meal only' to have in my car in case of emergency, and full MREs if I'm going to be doing something longer term like a hike.
The jet boil isn't a problem for backpackers are trying to get as low of base weight as possible so they have mathed the jet boils weight vs mres and have decided that this is worth it having over the just ad water mres backpackers also love mnms and poptarts and cinnamon buns aswell this gives us our sugar fix
Havent had an MRE since I got out. Do a lot of backpacking and really like the Alpine brand meals. Also I always bring a box of poptarts for between meal snacks when doing multiday hikes.
Downside of those freeze dried outdoor foods is that the shelf life is not great it’s only 5 years compared to an MRE that can be stored properly for at least 20 years plus. So if you are thinking about prepping for SHTF scenario and looking for food that can have a decent shelf life MRE weather you like them or not but it’s probably your best bet or chef boyarde that we know and love and that just sits in the back of our shelves that’s been sitting their ever since you were a child and still taste as good as the first day you got them
As a Actuve duty member who used MREs every other week. I find Chili mac and elbow mac my favorites. I also brought the dry freezed stuff into the field and they’re better tasting but not as filling.
being conscript in the finnish defence force we had our MREs being constructed out of civilian stuff. I only once had that macaroni and something where you pour the boiling water into the bag
One thing I would think is hilarious is if they got a rock that just says "or something" on it so we always know they're for sure heating up these meals on "a rock or something" 😆 🤣
I backpack all summer long as much as I can and the freeze dried taste better for sure but I like taking military ones over anything else because then I don’t have to pack as much other stuff. More room for liquor and weed!
I had a box of the exact same ones that cam was opening and the bag actually did blow up on my the first time lol. I got it going and was heating the main, but I guess I sealed the bag somehow and it just built pressure and exploded.
I would highly recommend Korean MREs. I've seen people try those and they look SO good. It's like rice with bits of meat and veggies in it, and I believe there's sauce with it as well.
Do soldiers actually use their ration heater and eat there mre hot in the field/combat or do they eat them cold because the enemy can see there steam/hot water vapor coming out of the ration heater bag.
In Slovakia we have a company that makes MREs both for military and for civilians (Same ones for both) and they are absolutely delicious, they also come with chemical heaters and sides or you can order individual meals and contents-both sides and accesories of the entire 24h package individually, the 24h pack also contains 3 meals. I tasted one individual meal-Chicken Rogan josh with rice from that company today and it was really delicious :D
The civilian MREs that Cal Fire gave us on my last couple wild fire missions were the worst! I forget the name of them. They were like a ghetto lunchables that expired a decade ago. It actually made me miss real MRE’s.
"...unless you're a weirdo eating freeze died food normally..." Me, who hasn't been shopping, sat eating my freeze dried camping beef and noodles while watching this... "Urrrrm. Huh." 😒😂
I've had both Military MRE's and the Freeze Dried MRE's. Personally I have the same debate as you guys do... Military MRE's have the entre, cookies, candy, sides etc. like the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce has, the entre, garlic bread w/ cheese spread and M&M's and a drink mix, as well as the cinnamon gum. So you get quantity, however I eat Mountain House meals when I go camping, although its just an entre what I get in that tastes 100000% better... If I have to pick, like I'm going to the field for lets say 3 days and its either MRE's or Mountain House... practicality makes me pick MRE's just because everything you need is in a MRE and i dont have to get or do anything like with the mountain house meals
Civilian MREs… A little surprised that they can compete with the military standard… up to a point. 😓 As soon as I saw that Jetboil thing, I thought, “Who the hell would shove that in their backpack?!” I go backpacking all the time, (as long as it’s above tree line!😁) and when I do I always cook my food the day before so I can just eat and drink as needed. I will admit the military MRE heaters are pretty cool. Still, “Blow up in my face!” HOLY QUACK you scared me! 😱
Is the fact that it's technically not quite ready.. and that you have to do basic chemistry in order to make it ready over the course of several minutes.. possibly the fourth lie of the traditional three? Or is that just attack on addendum to the middle lie?
You are not going to get the best results from just shaking those Peak Refuel packs. For the best results you need to get in there with a spoon, and stir it up.... little darling, stiiiir it up
Would like to see you guys build your own MRE bundle. Bring together all the best of the MRE's you guys have tried.
Uuuh, that would be awesome, in collaboration with @Steve1989MREInfo !
oooo....so many good options then
They should make two, one with the best stuff and one with the worst to contrast.

Are MREs freeze dried?
@@jasonml3508 The MREs designed for cold weather applications are, but standard ones are not.
@@PerfectCell ok, thank you. The way that food is prepared for the military and the astronauts has always both interested and confused me.
I’m really hoping that their “special friend” manages to get a hold of some Australian MREs for these guys
I also hope that they are still in contact with the "Special Friend" from the past episodes...
But when they are asking for help/advice with the foreign rations/Customs Situation, it might not be looking good with the special friend...
If someone doesn't hammer down their throats that the jam biscuits are called "fuck off biscuits" I will be severely disappointed
Editing is becoming better and better jeez, props to the editor

i had exams sorry boys i wasnt early but now im done i can watch you guys finally
Havent had an MRE since I got out. Do a lot of backpacking and really like the Alpine brand meals. Also I always bring a box of poptarts for between meal snacks when doing multiday hikes.
Great way to start 6 in the morning.
I’m so happy to see variation in the MRE videos
I mean... military MRE's you get paid to eat (sorta) whereas civilian MRE's YOU pay to eat them.
You guys should collab with SteveMRE would be funny
i never knew i needed to see gigachad Izzy but i am glad i did.
My friend and I would eat backpacker food all the time when he was prepping to hike the Appalachian trail.

That counter strike and quake edit was hilarious
I love this dudes.
Can you make a “Top 5 Sniper Rifles for Hunting Bears.”
Maybe go for a bear hunt for the weekend haha.
It will be dope.
11:36 Israel Wright turned into Israel Solo
Just awesome 👍🤣
lol
Love you guys! It’s always nice to spend some time with you. Thanks for the videos!

What’s y’all’s opinion on the Creamy spinach Fettuccine. I like it from time to time but most people hate it.
Get the titanium jet boil if you can. It’s lighter and boils faster and tougher than standard one.
As a resident of the west coast, I stock up on MRE's for Earthquake readiness, Pacific storms, and forest fire season.
I wonder if they got footage of the milsim
That 900+ sodium MRE is less sodium than most 1/3 lbs cheeseburgers, so not so bad unless you have high BP. Great show as usual, keep 'em coming!
Cameron is probably the only dude I've ever seen do the one spit heater bag thing besides me.
Try out some XMREs vs military MREs
being conscript in the finnish defence force we had our MREs being constructed out of civilian stuff. I only once had that macaroni and something where you pour the boiling water into the bag
I remember the old dehydrated, LRRP rations from the 70's. Nothing like crunchy chili.
Awesome video as always guys. 🙂
These are always my favorite
One thing I would think is hilarious is if they got a rock that just says "or something" on it so we always know they're for sure heating up these meals on "a rock or something" 😆 🤣
Great work boys
I can only agree woth that🤘👌

Try canadian mre next?
The freeze dried civilian ones you have to shake up the water and squish them up good so they cook through
I would highly recommend Korean MREs. I've seen people try those and they look SO good. It's like rice with bits of meat and veggies in it, and I believe there's sauce with it as well.
It would be cool to see them try cold weather MREs
Hey shift fire I got a question would you like to do blind folded drinking alcohol but it's your cast members favorite alcohol drinks ??
Do soldiers actually use their ration heater and eat there mre hot in the field/combat or do they eat them cold because the enemy can see there steam/hot water vapor coming out of the ration heater bag.

Maybe you can send them to New Zealand so they can finally make good MREs
#JetBoil All Day. MoD Rations... nope, don't miss them. Side opening: high speed.
Let's be real, they're both chipped from the bottom of a factory somewhere and placed in a bag.
So... about the "soup sandwich" thing? That's literally a bread bowl if you think about it.
Mtn house is my fav
Mt House has the best freeze dried food, and O'Meals is the closest you can get to a MRE entry without getting a MRE.
I would like to see you reacting to some military ads
Did I just get a Jet Boiler infomercial? XD Love it anyways.
Glad y'all liked the civilian MREs. They are awesome for camping. I'll even use them at work if I don't have time to make my lunch.
The civilian MREs that Cal Fire gave us on my last couple wild fire missions were the worst! I forget the name of them. They were like a ghetto lunchables that expired a decade ago. It actually made me miss real MRE’s.
You can buy Australian Ration Packs (Rat Packs) online for like A$60 or so

"...unless you're a weirdo eating freeze died food normally..."
Me, who hasn't been shopping, sat eating my freeze dried camping beef and noodles while watching this... "Urrrrm. Huh." 😒😂
Foreign_Mre has some Chilean "Duff" rations (Civilian and Police) in stock; maybe you do some Recon on them 😉
You two should try NZ MRE’s they are more commonly known as “rat packs” (Ration packs)!!!!!
I thought MREs are just that, Military, didn't know there are Civilian ones. Good to know.
Thanks for the vid glhf

Have these guys tried Indonesia MRE? If they haven't they should try it

i miss the mre pound cakes so much.
Watching them discuss and eat MRE’s while I eat an MRE, I felt it was too fitting to not do it lol.
Yall need to try some eastern European MREs. For some reason, most of them are amazing.
I never heated MREs just ate em cold. 1 I was always starving. And 2. I have 0 patience

Izzy... did you say you wanted raisins in your oatmeal cookie? Come on man.
Hi gents. Could you please also do T-shirts suited to women? As in the more fitted style? 🙏 Love your work. ❤
We need a compilation of Israel having boomer moments
“The one and only… “
“Thank you Israel.”
Try the Dutch (Netherlands) MRE next time.

I want to try MREs just once. I'm a noob at this dude, just once to the heavens above.
Awesome video :)
Try a US Meal Cold Weather next?
Have you guys tried British military M.R.E's
You are not going to get the best results from just shaking those Peak Refuel packs. For the best results you need to get in there with a spoon, and stir it up.... little darling, stiiiir it up

I wanna see you guys do a thing on protein shakes
Or meal replacement powder
Such a good video haha
Israel went to a mil-sim event?! Where is video of THAT?!?
Cam burping in the end is a signal to me that these were good MREs. 😁
add some salt to the heaters to speed up the process
