The retro MREs came up and I was like - duuude, how strong is your gut? 😂 Then the pears popped up and I thought - ok, so this is the moist pear episode? You guys are getting hyper in these taste tests. 😂
As an 11b in the late 80s I ate those the hot dogs were terrible the ham slice was edible put the cheese on the crackers with the ham my favorite was the chicken ala king
0:34 This one scene on left makes my fall into memories of my childhood :D When I was kid, in Poland every small town or village fete, or days of the city there comes cooks from nearest military unit with trailer like this full of grochówka and bigos. Damn god those are so delicious Polish dishes! It actually looks like they have bigos on this scene. If you ever visit Poland and you have friend that you are visiting there: do not go to restaurant. Ask if your friend has bigos from grandma. You will not regret that!
I have been watching Shift Fire since the started making videos. I have watched Izzy and Cam since they started on gameology and I can say They never cease to impress with their videos. thanks guys!
The 4 fingers of death!!!! Y'all need to watch some SteveMRE1989 and get some information on whether an old ration is good to eat or not-- an MRE that old with Pork/ Meat products can make you very sick if it wasn't stored properly (same with some nuts). Pro tip: Freeze your MRE's until you need to take them out to eat, they can keep almost indefinitely if kept frozen.
Freezing MRE's can make the packaging burst. If you immediately eat it after thawing then it shouldn't be a problem, but if the packaging is damaged and you get several days into a situation and need to eat it then you could be trying to eat spoiled/dangerous food without knowing it.
@@oldscratch3535 Checking the packaging is very important yes, especially if some menu items have a lot of liquid in them, but for the most part they're good to freeze (i've always had good luck with it)-- definitely should eat them within a week of thawing i agree.
I have an idea for "All ate up": Cook from scratch your favourite dish associated with military. If you consider own to be more interesting than my suggestion, then do it freely, but my is a classic of Polish military: military split pea soup, in Poland known as "wojskowa grochówka" (pronounce voyskova grohkoovka, where you have to remind yourself any Russian conversation and listen how they say r). I found one recipe published on Internet by one professional soldier, but since YT doesn't like external links being published I'll publish text only (for some reason there are translators in the world). Apparently it's up to creators if comments with links are publishble, so hit me up if you find it. Otherwise, have some fun text to translate (and hell no, no Google Translate, firstly PONS, then Google if it doesn't help): Jestem zawodowym żołnierzem. 2. W tym czasie przesmażamy boczek i dodajemy do garnka z warzywami. 3. Drobno pokrojoną słoninę podsmażamy z kiełbasą, nadmiar tłuszczu zlewamy, a mięso dodajemy do garnka. 4. Zupę gotujemy na małym ogniu około godziny, a gdy groch będzie prawie całkiem miękki, dodajemy obrane i pokrojone w średnią kostkę ziemniaki i ząbki czosnku. Gdy ziemniaki zmiękną, zupę przyprawiamy majerankiem. Grochówka wojskowa jest gotowa do podania. Before you buy meat for this, make sure those are some high quality meats, not chemical ones. Make sure to buy raw or smoked bacon, differently treated one is unacceptable.
Absolutely LOVE this video. One suggestion: Have an episode where you hunt down their favorite MREs and have them try them again. See if their tastes have changed. You guys rule. Keep up the great work!
Well guy's you did it again 🤣 I was hungry until I watched you both launch a full on Asault on your tastebuds! I honestly don't know how you manage to keep some of that stuff down🤢 Great video as always 👍
Had to dip in to some old MRE’s and one was the vegetable omelet and another was corn beef hash. Cold and slimy to the touch with no heat source. The caramel that came with it tasted like chemical from the packaging. The cookie that was just a brick tasted good but you had to suck on it a bit for it to be edible
Yo! Cameron. Israel. Shift Fire!! Congratulations on 100K subscribers bros. You two have quickly become on of my favorite content creators out there, SO DOPE! Onward and upward, keep up the awesome work 🤜🏾🤛🏻.
Seeing these MRE's really brought back memories. That dark OD green packaging and the cardboard boxes. Also not having a heater. The MRE has come a long way from this let alone the cans and P38s to open them up before the MRE existed. I still use a P38 today to open most of my canned goods, can't go wrong with them, they just keep going and going.
You guys dropped 1 notch on my favorite UA-cam channel for that Fiji water :( all about the Winco/Costco water…. With that being said I loved this episode lmao
I was in the Philippines Scout Ranger in 2008, damn your lucky you have a good MRE, to us who fights in jungle everything we see is food like: Snake, wild chicken, boar's, if you can handle edible worms and etc. Our MRE back then was a DIY MRE, content of 1kilo of rice, 3 can of sardines, 2 gingers, 2onions, 2garlics, small bag of pepper and salt, small wok, 6 small pack of Milk powder, and a box cigarette. With a Food allowance of 2.85 Dollar = Php150
Dehydrated pears we fed to the goners- the ham slices were good, but tasted like spam. Grape jelly on the crackers best with hot coffee. Bring back the C-ration B1A unit with the John Wayne cookie, sooooo good. Retire Army 06

Could you talk about the differences between the two units you served in? How they differ, how they are similar. In what ways your operational mandates overlap or are completely different.
As much as this is a Military based Channel, I would love to see Cameron and Izzy just play Military based Video games together like they have done on Gameology. I swear it would be hilarious 😂
would be interesting to see what kind of meals one could actually make with some of these MRE that taste good. like, if a chef could use the ingredients provided in an MRE and make an actually enjoyable meal.
I'm all for the mre vids but for yall's safety make sure they are ok for you to eat. Definitely don't want to get sick from botulism or stuff like that. Thanks for the vid glhf

You can describe the odor and flavor of the meal by just looking at cameron's face. I would use the word "Pungent". But he is right, Tobasco does not go bad.

I have a question: What happens to friendships when you go overseas do people resent you for leaving them or do they look forward to you coming back
Who in the hell would want to be friends with a person who would resent you for doing your job? When my best friend deployed I was worried about his safety and hoped he would come back to me in one piece. Resentment never entered my mind.
If someone resents you for you doing your job, especially defending a country, you are hanging out with the wrong people.
If your boys resent you for leaving, they ain't your boys.
Once my boys heard I was coming back they were making all sorts of crazy plans.
