Not last season, season 2. The series was never subtle, it was aways on the nose and got even more as it went on, maybe because far right idiots where not getting the message.
I agree it got a little less subtle (screaming alex jones) but it's literally reflecting our own word but with superheroes which is just hilarious to see.
"Loses its subtlety" Lmao, one of the very first things to happen in the series is a naked man being exploded ass-first into a cloud of blood and guts. The Boys was never subtle.
The difference is back then, Gore, Nudity, served a purpose, Gore added stakes to otherwise Family friendly super heros. And the nudity was to show the audience that these heroes were Deviants behind the scenes, For example Season 1 in the club we see Heroes just like marvel, Shining beacons of Hope and Heroism. Then in the club we see them using their powers for sex, Drugs, Murder. And thats all we needed to get a feel for the truth. Seasom 4 we get A Clone Gangbang and Dicks everywhere because the director thinks shock value makes the show better, And or he wants to keep upping himself to make scenes trend. Perfect example is the Vought on ice scene. All that gore served no other purpose than "Gore 😮". Wheras before it would be an entire plotline about covering up the murders, All we get is news in rhe background going "Btw a fire broke out their all dead"
It's the final season, subtlety gives way to being more explicit as the inevitable escalation of conflict leading to the climax begins. The show has always been unapologetically critical towards conservative values. Imho, most of the people complaining about the show being less subtle are upset because they find it harder to ignore the fact that the show is mocking the very idealogy they believe in. Even though it's been doing it since the very beginning.
the first scene of the show is a drugged up celebrity military allegory killing a person and getting off scot free subtlety isn’t a strongsuit here chief
While the point of satire is to exaggerate the truth, the earlier seasons of The Boys just did things better. And let’s be real, the show has many differences from the comics.
Honestly this season has had a wild side but I gotta agree with y’all. The subtlety is gone, and it’s become quite on the nose. But the main story still in tact
I don't think The Boys got less subtle, I think the real world has just moved closer to Garth's twisted vision of America.
Nah bro, it just got less subtle😂
The boys was subtle? you have watched the other season right? They fought a literal Nazi last season not very subtle.

I think this is a season 4 review not season 3. That’s just me though.

Supe clones tossing each other’s salads was not on my season 4 bingo card 💀 13:15
Yeah…don’t think anyone saw that coming

The Boys was never subtle.
One scene doesn’t represent the entirety of the three episodes.
Totally agree, season 4 is awesome so far! 😮💨
The difference Is that was a unique way to kill a supe who's skin was impenetrable. Now we get dick and Assholes just because of shock value
@@SaltyPotatoes03idk man ur opinion seems kinda invalid because it’s had wild shit regardless
@@ctthrt.v3r I disagree lil bro

Pretty solid take. Season 1 and 4 are very different in their own ways.
Great video guys!
Thank you! 🙏

Stopped reading after "final season" comment smh 🤦🏿♂️
@@o.gparamount3099 It's a tiny mistake. My argument still applies since it's the penultimate season.
I really wish the writing was still clever. But that’s just me tho
The show runner thinks he’s cleaver. He’s actually a child.

The show definitely tackles a lot of topics. Some are done more discretely and some are straight up parallels of today’s events. Good point!
First acolyte now the boys. What a shame
This might be the least subtle show of all time.
btw the thumbnail has "it's" instead of the proper grammatical spelling for possession "its"
We are firing our thumbnail guy today.
Lol like the comic was ever subtle. Satire and parody erase it. 😂

Wait this show is political?? I thought it was about superheroes tf
You can't be serious
@@merrytunes8697are you serious?? Watch the show lmao
@@joshisthemaster802 the show has been about politics…from the beginning. Which is why I asked if your question is serious?
I agree, really upsetting to see this show take such a political turn…
