I just finished the 24 hour part 1.1 shogun audiobook last night. Today I started watching the new remake on Hulu. The show is absolutely terrible. Basically at 24 hours the book ends with blackthorne and mariko sleeping together. It took the show 4 hours to get to that point. So they cut 20 hours of material while rewriting and making their own story. I feel like I’m watching poorly written cliff notes. The story is stuck on fast forward and there is no character development. It’s hard to like anyone in the show. Blackthorne is the biggest disappointment.

I was mesmerised but the show when it first aired an the UK a million years ago, I had read the book (and the subsequent series) previously but this just blew me away with its portrayal (however dramatised) into Japanese culture of the Middle Ages... and Mariko ......
If you're able to find the VHS set, and still have a vcr, that will be the full version. As far as I'm aware, they never released the full show on dvd. All versions of it were trimmed down

He tried to get away, but they interpreted it to mean he wanted the old crone who was one of the bathers, when he made it clear he didn't want to "pillow" with the old lady, she was very disappointed.
