What an amazing performance which has left a lasting impression on me. An amazing actress with such expressive eyes. She is my favorite in the whole series. I’m obsessed! She is absolutely beautiful
Mariko and Fuji are the best female role models for me as a woman who is surviving alone, because they carry dignity, grace, intelligence, modesty, beauty, and everything that makes me feel so proud of being a woman.
I'm sure you can do it. I'm sure you manage well. Do you have to continue alone? I hope not. Either way. I hope you are good and that life is kind to you.
You said this in a very beautiful Way Fuji is very brave Even After everything that Life has put in her way she has shown Dignity & Honor what's not easy She's my favourite Character in the Show by far! All the best!
I think she was phenomenal. The intensity of her portrayal of sadness and grief really got me. Anna Sawai was divine too but it was Moeka Hoshi who touched me the most emotionally. Would have deserved an Emmy just as well.
A great actress always makes her part memorable and personal. Good looks are common and fade. Talent matures and develops. A really touching performance.
Is very rare to find a secondary female character so well written. The history of Usami Fuji - San becomes so meaningful at the end of the series when grief haunts Blackthorne 's heart. Moeka Hoshi delivers a flawless performance full of emotion.
I know it was her duty but the way she stood up for John with the guns he gave her, she instantly became my favorite throughout the entire series. I wish they would have shown her more😭😭
That scene at the beginning of EP04 (Eightfold Fence) was probably one of the best performances I've ever seen. I love that at first, she tried her best to maintain her composure, then her repressed feelings came out all at once. Then struggling to simmer back down upon recalling Mariko's recent loss. You could feel her emotions in every second of it. Such powerful acting. That scene alone merits her well-deserved accolades and praises. Hope she gets awarded for it, and be given even more greater opportunities.
The scene with them on the boat putting the ashes in the water was so lovely and powerful 😢 and shot beautifully. I was literally moved. I loved her character.
The actress who portrayed Fuji was sensational. The character was adapted with layered complexity. The actress delivered us a performance of diverse emotions and elegant strength within vulnerability 🌟👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
The actress playing Fuji, Moeka Hoshi, steals every scene she is in. Besides being just adorable, her acting with her eyes and the most subtle facial expressions conveyed so much and was awesome to watch.
She was also such great comedic relief. Some of her best scenes were when she was trashing John's lack of refinement like the stench of the rotting peasant, her facial expression when he was drinking sake from a bowl and her reaction to his stew. Had me rolling.
The pattern of the kimono worn by most of the fuji was wisteria flowers (wisteria is called fuji in Japanese). The last kimono was especially beautiful. It is also wisteria in color.
Fuji Sama experienced such trauma so quickly, and even still her strength and honor was intact. What a beacon she was for the whole show. This actress was amazing.
I always found her the most deepest of characters and would have liked the series to have given her more time. The scene of her scattering her husband and baby's ashes moved me to tears as not so many years ago I scattered my father's ashes in the waters where he spent many years sailing. All those memories came flooding back with that scene.
Something i overlooked in my first watch wat Fuji's words to Anjin when he let go of Mariko's cross: "Let your hands be the last ones to hold her." A near perfect repetition of what Mariko said to her at the first episode when she has to hand over her son. That's some great character development.
I can't quite explain it, but there's something about Fuji that is so attractive. I find Mariko interesting because of her story, and because Mariko is a key character in the entire plot. We get to know about Mariko because of the plot, and are attacted to her as a result of it. But Fuji is different. She started off as this tragic character, then surpises everyone with her defiance and courage, while mantaining absolute elegance in everything she does. I love Fuji's mannerism, the way she carries herself, and the way she speaks. Fuji is such an elegant character. Moeka Hoshi is amazing for portraying the character so effortlessly. I don't watch Jidaigeki so I can't really compare Moeka Hoshi's acting with other more accomplished Japanese actresses, but I imagine Fuji/Moeka Hoshi is going to pop up in my mind whenever I watch a show portraying feudal Japanese women in the future.
The female characters in Shogun were so fascinating-Mariko, Usami Fuji, the geisha Kiku, Lady Ochiba-they exuded a charming but steely mystique of deference and resolve to their duties and roles in that culture and period of time.
What makes the Lady Fuji character interesting and unique for me is that she exudes a quiet strength without the typical aggressive and/or loud over the top behaviors, while at the same time an exotic sensuality without being vulgar, and a calming/soothing presence. Moeka Hoshi had given the audience an unforgettable performance!! Bravo👏
