Very well done and a great video! On Saturday I did a C2C2C audax, 305km total. Creswell to Bowness on Solway and back. I found it hard! I came in last in 18 hours total. I had lots of breaks and was somewhat slower than you My rear end was very raw too! Take care and keep pedalling 😂
Well done, mate. Thanks for uploading this video. You might have convinced me to do it this year. I was planning to do the way of the roses last year with sportivehq before they went. Pity about sportivehq they always ran great events and well stocked food stations. Great that someone stepped in and is running the event this year as well. Weird that velo29 are running the same event one week earlier. Longest event I've done is 120miles white rose classic. Hardnott looks harder than Rosedale chimney bank. Think I would probably end up pushing with that many miles to do. Well done to you. Yorkshire???
@@andrewdressler855 thanks Andrew! Are you going to take on either of the C2C rides this year? I did see velo29 and Sarfraz are hosting them. Hardknott isn’t as bad as everyone says , providing you have the gearing! I made sure to have an 11-34 for the event and it was just a spin up. I guess some comfort with C2C is that you get hardknott ticked off just 12 miles in and just maybe 3-4 climbs of note during the day, all other elevation are just rollers. It’s a great day out and definitely a bucket list ride every cyclist should consider😁
@@theyorkshirewheeler thanks for the reply. I will probably take it on this year and probably with Sarfraz. Do you recommend? Velo29 are very experienced but find they give you just enough, and not any more, at the feed stations. Unlike sportivehq where you could get a really good feed. I just want to make a good start to the early season, get some sportives in, before signing up. Here's hoping for some good weather. I don't really have the climbing gears, campag, and just hung on up Rosedale chimney bank. Thanks for posting the video, feel more inspired to do it. I think just the thought of going coast to coast will keep me going more than just doing a long loop.
@@andrewdressler855 Personally I’d take the Sarfraz option as he put on very generous feeds and is a huge supporter of charities. You might find the velo29 event has a lot of people on it which can lead to busier roads but I’ve no idea what the uptake is like for either event yet. If you’re fine with the travel logistics at each end it is a great sportive because like you say, it’s not just a loop and I feel A to B is more interesting with an end goal in mind!
@@Ruggles_Rides thanks mate it was tough in a few spots but just a long day out otherwise! There are 2 C2C events next year a week apart in June again so might get signed up
Well played! I did the opposite the other week from Whitby to Whitehaven, Wrynose destroyed me after all those hours but I found Hardknott much easier East to West..took the Ribble 653 steely with an 8 speed cassette..never again. Hope to do the same route as you in spring, with the R5 this time..
@@theyorkshirewheeler Cheers! I hit Wrynose at 9pm, 1.5hr behind schedule due to a flat and wisely decided to buy a new tyre in Hawes..it’s something else Wrynose and Hardknott in the pitch black! I recommend it 👍 Happy cycling pal
I rode to seascale to the start line from Doncaster.. so went over wynrose and hardknott both ways that day. Definitely sketchy at 3am in the rain and dark though.. wouldnt recommend it 🤣👍
Ahh I saw your post about the left crank coming off? You’re an absolute madman! My backside was in bits even 7-8 hours into the ride I don’t know how you did it. Chapeau!
I think a big bunch in the facebook group(s) are keen to try do it around the same time each year as it goes. Looks easy enough if planning regular feed stops at villages tbh
Oh the memories of hardknott are flooding back haha. Alot of videos don't seem to capture the steepness of it whereas this 1 certainly did. What camera mount were you using for the descents? My footage is just too bumpy having the go pro attached under the head unit
The nightmare lives on ey?! 😛 Recently sold my GoPro and got a DJI Osmo Action 4. I use it in the mouth piece for a few clips and for under the handlebars I have a K-Edge out front dual mount so it has a Wahoo/Garmin on top and a typical action cam / light mount for underneath. Double check you have the right settings for GoPro, Hypersmooth with tight cropping - I think it's called?
@@theyorkshirewheeler will check those settings. That's 1 thing I haven't done! Was thinking it was the headset on the bike, even played around with tyre pressures lol. But I reckon the mouth mount a better view especially seeing above the hedges!
@@neilgreenfield6414 i used the gopro once on the handlebars on top and found vibrations made the camera angle tilt a fair bit. defo check the settings and even a cheap mouth piece mount from Temu or aliexpress will do, then you have the luxury of using a mouth view or holding it in various other angles during a ride

Well done mate, that’s a mental achievement you should be proud 💪🏻 hope the recovery and backside repair is going ok 😆
Mega effort mate. You should be really proud to complete that. Amazing edit as well mate really well out together ;-)
Thanks a bunch for the feedback and some pointers on this one 🤗
machine .. well done up Hardknott
Thanks mate!
5:00 Beautiful view❤
The scenery there is breath taking. So hard to take it all in sometimes, stunning place!
