  • Join Graeme as he tries to catch fish using tiny baits. This almost hour long fishing episode is loaded with interesting tips and items. First Graeme squeezes in an afternoon float fishing after work, and uses some small baits to get some action. He also throws out a couple of catfish baits. Then, don’t miss the second half of the film. He enters the weirdest tent ever for a look back at how our ancestors lived in prehistoric times. For those who always thought their food came from supermarket shelves, learn how our ancestors made use of everything in order to survive. Trust GP to hunt down some of the best stories!

    Got me a tin of luncheon meat to take fishing, but I opened it at home fried up a slice and ended up eating the can - never made it fishing. But it was totally awesome!

    Enjoyed the prehistoric experience Graeme. I often think its a shame we know so little about our ancestors.

    Thanks for showing us the cave tent and Sarah sharing her knowledge. Fascinating. I drove past Finch Farm this morning and thought about calling in for a look round, but I'm always shy about new places. Great video 👍

    Thank you for your content greame, New to the channel but i really do enjoy your enthusiasm. Your introduction music really does make a lot of sense in line with your character. I'm pretty much caught up with your content. Personally i find your little sidetracks very interesting. Prehistoric history lesson did teach me something. Keep up the good work greame pullen.

    Hi GP you can used luncheon meat on a bait band really well. Use a baiting needle hook and pull the band into the meat. Best used on the pre made banded hooks you showed.

    • @ivornappinion9406

      Good idea but quick stop are a bit more reliable if casting ..do you use that method on a rod or pole ?

    • @carriehakes4308
      @carriehakes4308 3 роки тому +1

      @@ivornappinion9406 mostly on the rod and works well on the method feeder. I agree with you on the quick stop tho. Think I watched matchman Adam Rooney using the meat and band technique.

    • @ivornappinion9406
      @ivornappinion9406 3 роки тому

      @@carriehakes4308 I was shown it with corn once last year and it worked well over a bed of micros in the margin lowering it in under the rod tip, but never thought of using it on other baits. i make my own hair rigs to spec using quick stops and even found on ebay small thin ones that will go through maggot which everything in the water will devour so it increases your chances if you are not targeting just one species :}

  • @DjDolHaus86

    If you are using a band on a hair like you had with those pre tied rigs you can fish this like luncheon meat or corn very effectively by passing a baiting needle through your chosen soft bait and out the other side, hook the band onto the crook of the needle then stretch the band out as far as you dare. While the band is stretched out slide the bait back over the needle and onto the band and then release the tension. The band will retract and expand inside the bait which holds it on far more securely than you might believe.
    Now, if you want to really pinch pennies and avoid the bands falling off almost entirely drop the band on your leg, lay the hook across the centre and then use a baiting needle to go under one side of the band, over the hook and snag the other side of the band then pull it through itself to trap the hook inside (you can also do it by pinching the hook in the middle of the band and then maneuvering one side of the band through the other but that requires fairly nimble fingers). Being a nautical man you might recognise this as a larks head knot or a girth/cow hitch. Once tightened down it will stay wherever you want to position it giving many more options for positioning the pellet against the hook, personally I find I get much better hook-ups with the pellet on the shank of the hook opposite the point rather than on the bend.

    Hi G. I work for a dental supplier. Believe it or not we sell the pericardium (skin around the heart) of pigs, and guess what, for advanced dental surgery (implants) it ends up in your mouth for the life span of the implant. So a lesson to everyone, look after your teeth 😂

    Man, I wish mom and pop fishing stores still existed here, the big box stores have put them all out of business. No option for used gear outside of things like Craig's List and Facebook Marketplace, and that is very hit and miss.
