Thank you Graham for all your fishing adventures, you do a remarkable job of fishing and filming, and giving us a lot of your knowledge, in my eyes you are a legend, thank you Graham keep going old boy.
Had a very good relaxing Sunday watching 13 hours marathon of Graeme. And really loving this TA fishing episode . like the super cool grandad I wish had. Don't get me wrong my grandad was really cool 25 years in the army and air force and also loved fishing but unfortunately he passed before I was born. ... Absolutely love this channel . I've said on all the posts that I'm just getting back into fishing after nearly 20-years so much because everything has changed.. Graham's style of fishing is old school and that is the best type of fishing. Go with the gut 😁
Love the Warwickshire Avon. It's such a pity you never tried dead baiting the minnows. There are some really big Perch in there. My dad and me had 14 the one day up to 4Lb. The zander also take the minnows as do the big Chub. Strangest fish We caught on the Avon was a great big rogue Rainbow Trout of about 5lb on bread. Some great big bream in there too and the odd Tench and carp. My dad was known as the Zander man and he even ended up dying in the Avon (true story) . God bless him. Thanks for this video Graham really enjoyed it.
Don’t suppose you know how far from the Saxon mill bridge this spot was do you? I went today it’s a mess! Couldn’t work out where it was any good, this video location would be good. Cheers mate. ( I live in Warwick )
@@TAFishing Well that’s not too bad a “hang up” catching marlin. I was obsessed with catching a huge tench for years and ended up constantly disappointed. I caught one eventually but it was only when i stopped trying .
I used to bailiff this stretch for Warwick AC . It’s a very lovely place .. until after dark 😀😀. Above the weir in the mill race used to be the best Dace fishery in Warwickshire. I’ve had them to 11oz and seen them caught over a pound . However the finest fish I ever saw from there I caught myself . A stunning December roach of 2.1 🌞🌞the fish of a lifetime. I absolutely loved the place but couldn’t manage it on my own . Then there were the cormorants and the fish kill and the issues with access and ornithologists . Listen out for the big splash at night .. ☺️the local tales tell it all . Baz peck
Great place, I’ve never fished here but just 15 minutes drive from home. Expensive to eat and drink at Saxon Mill! I love fishing the Warwickshire Avon, the Birmingham or Stratford books are very good value for money.
Really good to see this. Don't think I would have slept a wink with that creepy old gaff nearby. Fished once in a similiar place and my mates lept out with a spook mask on. ...... Im 64 and still havent got over it. Luv what you do Graham. 👍
Trout or Dace are my choice of livebaits. They seem to last for ages, got to admit I always feel a little guilty when putting them on the trebles, but they outperform a deadbait or a lure many times over. I can catch 5-10 Pike in a day session, I'm lucky to get a single run on deadbaits
This venue has been recommended to me by a friend. I’ve seen some lovely fish caught from there of most species but I had no idea it was such hard work. This intrigues me more as any fish caught must be a good result. Nice video once again 👍
The river used to be on the Warwick D.A.A book some years ago. Guys Cliffe caught fire whilst the BBC were filming there many years ago and was never rebuilt afterwards.
a tip for cheap bait: buy 20-25kg of mixed pellet for £30-35. you can then separate the larger pellets for carp/cats and use the smaller ones for river fishing buy 20-25kg of unprepared seed/spod mix for £20-25. both bags will usually do a season saving me hundreds in little tackle shop visits
nice one ! and also nice to see a river with some Eel's in it, especially of that size...when I was younger, Eel's were one a chuck in a lot of rivers and drains, now, not so much. great vid.
Nice to see those eels👍 my local stream is supposed to only have trout in it but I spent a couple of mornings this week ledgering worms only to discover it’s full of good sized eels averaging about 1/2lb but with some bigger ones too. Nice to have something else to fish for as coarse fish are unknown in the local rivers.
What more can you ask for to start the weekend? Graeme takes us to a beautiful piece of countryside and catches a real mixed bag of fish including a nice perch and large eels. The kind of fishing that requires careful casting and a lot of thought. He makes it look effortless but from experience I know its not. The last three/four fishing videos have been outstanding, thanks for posting. A small tip not fishing related if you want to make authentic teak oil 70 percent white spirit 30 percent boiled linseed oil. That's a recipe from a very old company I used to work for.
Thank you Graeme, just shows how hard River Fishing can be. I spent 3 hours on a great stretch of the Avon in Worcestershire last night, a couple of Chublets and multiple .Eels, 4-5 baits tried, multiple areas of water. Good on the guys for opening this up, it will come into it's own once the fish recognise the bait.

I fish the river around a mile down stream, the place has been decimated by otters, I used to catch a lot of chub and bream and they have completely disappeared. Where he is there, there are a lot of pike and yes there would be no way in hell I’d night fish that place it’s spooky as hell, fished it a lot as a kid. Good luck to the new owners looks like a lot of work been done.
This place is just minutes from where i live, i`ve fished it for over 40 years now it`s actually been very heavily fished over the years. Full of pike, good for dace bashing and some nice carp further down towards the dog track. The weir peg next to the pub is easily the most heavily fished river peg in the Warwick/Leamington district! The stretch is also used for wild swimming and canoeing during the summer, a nice place!
I think pike and perch are the most beautiful fish. This video takes me back to days of wading through stingers and brush to get at the River Cam back in the 80s……

Interesting spot. Piers Gaveston "favourite" of King Edward II was executed here. There was a hermitage cave with cockle shell and glass interior. Also naturalised bamboo on the bank. A spooky enough billet.
Apparently the pinnacle of supernatural activity in Warwickshire. I once went to an open day at Guys Cliffe house . Very very creepy and heavy atmosphere. We went In to the sandstone caves and the now Masonic temple . Couldn’t wait to get out .

@@harrylucas7664 I wonder if zander have gotten up that far yet . They only used to go as far as the weir below which came up from myton road . I've always wondered, is it "allowed" to take small roach or minnows for live or dead bait? I always thought it's frowned upon, or is it a case by case basis on what fisheries allow it? Used to use sprats for dead baits when I went pike fishing, some of the best childhood memories out on the bank chasing toothy monsters :)
Just check each fishery you go to . You can buy small (0r large) Roach frozen from many tackle shops. I was recently shown some big frozen Roach that must have gone 2lbs apiece. I will try to get a photo of them ,quite impressive, but I would sooner have caught them on my match rod, rather than feed them to a Pike. I can't seem to find any fresh Sprats any more which was my favourite bait for deadbait twitching. I know some tackle shops sell them but the fresh Sprats which I could then grade and freeze into sizes are just not about now. Maybe Billingsgate fish market might have them .
@TAFishing I always used to go to the supermarket and get some sprats from the fish counter. Great bait for Pike, had a beast down Duxford farms on a very small tributary of the Thames, very little room to fight, took 15 mins to get him in.. My all time favourite fresh water species.
Been watching your old films where you’ve been using different baits like the garden peas I used them last weekend and had some success. Just watched the film where you used chips. Is there any other weird and wacky baits you use that work for carp.
Try a bass spinnerbait on some 65lb PE line. You'll never snag again & pike love them. I fish creeks just like these except with 10x more sunken timber.
I used to fish five miles downstream from there. Over the years I had chub to 6lb, barbel, carp and pike nudging double figures and some really big spooky Zander at dusk. That was 20 years ago mind. Like most of our rivers the fish stocks aren't what they were.
Good to see you're not using the big roach, i'd only use them around 2-3oz mark max for live bait and hollow pole elastic works well for holding the bait on the hook, i prefer red but i use what ever i've got spare.
Great underarm casting skills, I can do it but not the power you generate. Great video too. I’d struggle at 40 trying to beat my way through that foliage 😂
Indeed , Slimy And Always Swallows The Hook Down, I Have On occasion Skinned One And Filleted It Cut It In About 2inch strips For Blue Cat Bait , I Have Some Success With that , I Also Soaked the Eel Pieces In chunks of magic cheese Catfish Bait , That Definitely Worked For Me , The eel soaks it up like a sponge and hold the hook well , I like a piece about 2 Inches long and and 3/8 wide , a long slinder Piece Of the cut eel Fillet ,I will split the end it gives. It some fluttering action in the water with current ,
