10:09 interesting detail I missed, remember how (in that episode) any time they’re uncertain it splits their time? Notice how when Rick is told he has to give Morty the collar time *doesn’t* split?
Rick's wife couldn't of died and she definitely raised Beth after he left her but We never see her in any universe he visits. There's no way she died in every reality. In the episode where bird person gets married, Rick says he couldn't make his marriage work. Insinuating that they broke up. Surely if he broke up with one, he could move to an identical universe but one where Rick doesn't exist and meet her again. yeah, we know for a fact that the c-137 sanchez family isn't Rick's original family, because Rick was actually present at the birth of Morty, which he wasn't for c-137 morty as he had "been gone for so many years". His past is truly a mystery.
@@lordjaxter6968 Rick and Morty are from say Universe 1, but Beth, Summer, and Jerry are from Universe 2. Remember, their Rick and Morty died in season 1. We know Rick identifies as C-137, but we don’t know if Morty is C-137. Nor do we know Evil Morty’s identity either. Universe 2 Beth says Rick was gone for 20 years. Universe 1 Beth did as well. Rick C-137 held Morty when he was little. It’s not possible for Rick to have been gone for that long and not miss holding Morty. Plus he at least knows, but also somehow remembers Jerry and Beth going to Prom, and him knocking up Beth. - Rick also fought a Revolution and became a wanted criminal to the Galactic Government. It is possible Universe 1 Rick is still out there, never re-contacting Beth, on top of Universe 1 being messed up already. This means Morty of (unknown) has never met his original Rick. Rick C-137 also knows a confident Morty is a bad Morty. Speaking from experience perhaps? Further proving Morty isn’t Ricks first Morty. Also, Dianne is likely out there somewhere, since Beth and Rick never say she is dead. Why she doesn’t visit her grandkids I don’t know, maybe because Rick is there?
I still believe his family actually died, and he jumped to another dimension where he himself had died (so he could take his place) but Beth is alive. That’s why he “disappeared” for so many years; it’s when the Rick of the reality we follow was dead, before our Rick came from another dimension. Our Rick is mourning the family he lost, while living with a replica of them.
@@stupidiot17 maybe not. Maybe the rest of the family died but morty didnt. I mean we see tons of morties in the Citadel and they never return home. There are even morties with no Rick's and even ricks with no families. So it isnt hard to believe that C137 Rick and Morty have no one but each other. We also know that C137 Rick genuinely loved his original family. We know the baby Morty in his memory is not the current Morty and it would also explain why, since dumping their last reality, Rick has become more invested in this family but wildly swings from genuine affection to callous indifference. But seen in season 4 finale and season 5 episode 2, Rick has found himself entangling himself deeper in the family. As Beth says in the latest episode. He's become afraid of losing them
"His past and future are the few things out of his control" Hurts even more that one of the theories is Rick's 4th wall break meaning c-137 could be the one he knows is not only the main character, but that the creators established they wouldn't mess with time travel until we actually understood it on any level.
You know what I just realized: In the episode rick says: "don't use your *dead wife* as an excuse" And if we do asume that rick's wife is dead then that is just a cool reference.
If your brain can't create . could this be the Kay to finding baby memories . Go back to a simpler state of mind think more on images colors lights sounds voices heart beats movements if your imagining your brain is desiding how to feel if you already been there you brain already knows how to feel. And this will start to coming back to you . InsideOut is 💩 take it from someone who lives in civilation inside your entire body
DragonReaver what do you think it means when Rick says to Beth “your mother would’ve loved this” what do you think that might suggest when Beth gets emotional over that comment. Hmmm?
I think the reason Summer lets the insults roll off of her is because she too is depressed to some degree. In the episode with tiny Rick, she understood the existential crisis and pain he was going through. She knows that while she hides it, he lashes out because of it, and she gets that.
It’s funny. Rick’s depression is mostly coming from his Atheism since there is no hope for anything for an atheist and yet there is a Bible character mentioned here. Solomon was the smartest man to ever exist and yet you read his different books he really wasn’t depressed and yet Rick/many atheists are. Wonder why.
7:30 While it is very difficult to invent something from nothing and everything that humans has invented are remixes and remasters of everything, Rick is the smartest thing in the universe, he could probably make up a totally random scenario.
When you mentioned how Rick leaves Summer out of adventures, it reminded me of a line from the episode The Rickshank Rickdemption. When the Council of Rick's is listing the charges against Morty one of them is "radicalising a Summer". So could it mean the majoirty of Ricks are so protective of their Summers they would consider it a crime to have her join in on an adventure?
Nah, Johnny Bravo came before Test. It's much more obvious that Johnny Bravo pulled a Benjamin Button and regressed back into his younger self, being Johnny Test.
@@LazGato Here’s my theory Humans derive happiness from two sources: distraction and meaning. When you know nothing matters, then nothing has meaning, so all that’s left is distraction, which is fleeting and not always available, sometimes leaving you with nothing, and where there’s nothing, there’s depression.
Apple Pi Right, since *nothing* is given meaning, it becomes apparent. Before, nothing was exactly that: nothing at all. Darkness. What's your theory of nothing in this context now that's it's been given meaning?
@@rainbowcat832 I think you may have misinterpreted my use of the word nothing, rather than the abstract concept of nothingness, I meant to use it to convey that there is nothing between you and negative thoughts, perhaps those are existential and actually relate to the abstract concept of nothingness, or perhaps they are more material, but either way, once you have outgrown the concept of inherent meaning, you are left with only one source of happiness, which is shallow, and therefore only provides happiness in the moment it is happening, and a lingering aftertaste of itself, but nothing lasting.
Thank you so much Mat Pat, this video really helped me realize why my big brother became so "cold" to me after he got diagnosed with depression, and now that I understand why, I hope that my brother and I can rebuild our bond... And it's all thanks to you!
Rick was happy to have found a way to avoid going to the therapist and VERY happy/impressed with himself for being capable of turning himself into a pickle...but thats not true “happiness”. Its TRUE happiness that eludes Rick and his inability to set aside his own ego enough to even allow himself to show unconditional love to the people he does in fact “love” that causes him such emotional distress...which in & of itself is one of the things that makes the show so compelling.
Lmao, his downright acknowledgment of actively avoiding his deepest emotions and most painful and vulnerable emotional shatter points is the TRUE expression of "happiness!"
I think there is. We just haven't seen them infinite realities. Only few thousand or million Rick's started the citadel. Millions a lot but compared to infinite not so much
Rick did witness Diane and Beth die. In an episode when he goes into bird persons memory, a past Rick says that our Rick moved in with an abandoned adult Beth. So he found a family that’s Rick abandoned his family and died or just decided to live at the citadel of Ricks.
When Rick show the memory of his wife and his daughter Beth dying it is a real memory because it is from a different universe that that Rick originally belong to and Rick left his universe and came to the new universe where this Beth’s Rick left her when she was a kid so that’s why Rick from our dimension doesn’t talk about it
that's probably not true given that a book doesn't have to contain every letter of the alphabet to still be a book. It doesn't even have to have words in it. An empty journal is still a book. A wordless art collection is still a book.

Anyone else remember when evil morty was looking through ricks memories
yeah, we know for a fact that the c-137 sanchez family isn't Rick's original family, because Rick was actually present at the birth of Morty, which he wasn't for c-137 morty as he had "been gone for so many years". His past is truly a mystery.
LordJaxter jeez
Nobody:
My brain: I'm on the toilet too!
This goes against the theory of Evil Morty being the real grandson of c137.
@@stupidiot17 what if evil morty was the cause of the family’s deaths?
He's become afraid of losing them
Then that was A REAL MEMORY but it wasnt
@@stupidiot17 that theory is wrong
scenes of rick attempting suicide: am i a joke to you
"His past and future are the few things out of his control" Hurts even more that one of the theories is Rick's 4th wall break meaning c-137 could be the one he knows is not only the main character, but that the creators established they wouldn't mess with time travel until we actually understood it on any level.

It's wild to come back to this theory, after I've seen the conclusion of season five, along with the premiere of season six.
I think the reason Summer lets the insults roll off of her is because she too is depressed to some degree. In the episode with tiny Rick, she understood the existential crisis and pain he was going through. She knows that while she hides it, he lashes out because of it, and she gets that.

Solomon said it first.

The Book that made me a believer honestly! 🙏
That’s ironic if you think about it no? Lol
It’s funny. Rick’s depression is mostly coming from his Atheism since there is no hope for anything for an atheist and yet there is a Bible character mentioned here. Solomon was the smartest man to ever exist and yet you read his different books he really wasn’t depressed and yet Rick/many atheists are. Wonder why.

While it is very difficult to invent something from nothing and everything that humans has invented are remixes and remasters of everything, Rick is the smartest thing in the universe, he could probably make up a totally random scenario.

Maybe his depression comes from the fact that he KNOWS he’s in a show
No, that would be really stupid
He suffers from existential depression or something like that. I mean when you know nothing matters it kinda gets to you some how
@@LazGato Here’s my theory
Humans derive happiness from two sources: distraction and meaning.

*look at Pickle Rick.*
That wasn't happiness, that was mania.

Rick did witness Diane and Beth die.
In an episode when he goes into bird persons memory, a past Rick says that our Rick moved in with an abandoned adult Beth.
So he found a family that’s Rick abandoned his family and died or just decided to live at the citadel of Ricks.
But rick left his “original” summer didn’t he?

Christ, the last time I was this early MatPat still thought that phone guy was purple guy

“Every book you read is just a different combination of the alphabet.”
that's probably not true given that a book doesn't have to contain every letter of the alphabet to still be a book. It doesn't even have to have words in it. An empty journal is still a book. A wordless art collection is still a book.
