I say it's because the Morty's have the possibility to surpass Rick's and intelligence and the reason Rick's keep Morty's is to keep them down so they can't get to the level of the evil Morty which is a problem
Part of the reason is that stories got spread around and altered somewhat with each iteration so that each culture had their own version of a story. That's not always why, it's just a factor. If there's on thing I've learned from college art history classes, it's that ideas used to spread farther than most people today realize.
I think you’d be interested in the idea of “universal archetypes”, that even completely unknown societies will share stories with the same characters that you’ve seen before in media
Think for a moment about the current "furries", and the fact that human-animal hybrids seem to be as old as recorded civilization. Every culture that I'm aware of has elements of anthropomorphized animals, and half-human creatures in their folklore. Fun fact, tangentially, but not exactly related. One element of the mythology of traditional Chinese medicine is that many of those concepts were said to be brought to them by people described as looking like light haired Europeans. We all shared myths and legends with each other for many thousands of years, and we mixed; and matched, and re-shared ideas with each other. It's present in our religions as well. Not only that, evidence to our shared development appears in our languages as well. Asian writing systems in particular can have characters that have small pieces of them that are similar to letters in writing systems like Aramaic, Hebrew, Cuneiform, etc. Our history is wet and wild, in short. It's absolutely bonkers.
My theory: You can literally theorize anything about this show and it sounds plausible because this show has no chill and the animators are smoking alien jet fuel.
Well, it stands to reason that the entire show is really just a set up for an "I'm my own grandpa" moment. And if it wasn't before, the writers will make it so once they see this... even if it's only in C-42
I think “ hating time travel” is Ricks and the creators way of doing a cheeky nod to Back to the Future. While Rick and Morty characters are based of Doc and Marty who dabble in Time Travel Rick and Morty deal more with dimension travel
By that logic, half the side characters would be the same person. Justin voices Rick, Morty, Mr. Poopybutthole, Meeseeks, and several named and unnamed one-offs.
I’ve interpreted the ending as Morty drank the vial and gained Ricks memories which made him Rick. He then listens to a message he had saved from when Morty was born. Since he remembers that Morty existed, Morty becomes real again.
That makes sense. Didn’t they mention something near the beginning about how the past affects the future because without it the future and present falls apart? If he remembers Morty, Morty won’t just disappear… or, strangely, he still gets surprised by certain events happening. Like, if he remembered everything that’s already happened, maybe that’s why he’s so prepared all the time and never worried? The hallucination says ‘this is your timeline’ so perhaps there’s something there too.
And then goes back to give this morty a happier life than his or a better one and that’s how all the ricks are made in different universes. Like morty now knowing all he does and being raised by Rick becomes Rick in tribute to the man who raised and taught him all about the universe but still comes back for the new morty created to give him the best friend he had growing up
this all could be false since in one episode where morty gets the crystal he gets to see how he dies and it shows one of the possibilities to be morty in a hospital and morty is old and doesnt look like rick
Aye, but in this said episode the crystal "forces" him to not bring Rick back, going down a path whereas this point in the video wouldn't happen. Can't "turn" into Rick if Rick is dead, yeah ?
Here's the thing. I get your theory. However, evil morty targeting our rick could be interpreted another way. I think evil morty's ultimate goal was always to take over the citadel. Once that's done, he'd have eliminated the threat of all ricks, except one; our rick. Hence, he's determined to eliminate him once and for all. Just like he did to the ricks who failed to comply to him on the cousel because they'd pose a threat to his authority and perhaps even stand in the way of his plans. But heey!! The kind of brain power it takes to fake the system would have to be insane, making it easier to not fake minor details.

I think evil Morty targeted c137 because he was one of the few Ricks that could bring down the citadel. Knocking down the power structure was key to seizing power, and Rick c137 was definitely pivotal in that event.

Evil Morty probably thought he was already as smart as a rick and didn’t need to change so he started a rebellion to stop morty’s from becoming ricks because he thinks Morty’s are already smart enough
Tammy was introduced as an evil character at the end of season 2. She didn't show up until the very last episode in season 4 where she was immediately killed by Rick, who claimed she died as she lived "overserialized." If 2 episodes is too much for the show, then I definitely don't see any fan theories holding up.
There are 2 kind of series: 1- a kind where each episode have nothing to do with the other and each episode can reboot the show even if everyone dies next episode everyone can be alive like nothing happened. 2- series of episodes that are connected to one another where it's trying to tell a big story. In Morty's Mind Blowers (S3 E8) both Rick and Morty lose their memories. After attempting to remember who they were, summer shows up and saves the day by using a *blue vial* on Rick and a yellow vile on Morty so they could both *regain their memories* up to the point before they lost them. Now at 6:20 Rick instructs morty to drink a very special *blue vial* once he's gone and later calls him *Rick Sanchez* I'm just pointing this out because of its similarities between these 2 scenes and thought it'd make for an interesting theory.
@@LegendJim those arent vials of liquid tho, they are just a collection of their old memories so they can be themselves again. Totally different thing. Plus morty gets a yellow memory thing.
MatPat: thinks a popular character is another character Everyone: Thats so wrong why would you ever think that! MatPat: Sorry won't happen again MatPat: Wanna see me do it again.
My theory: After Rick dies, Morty wears his clothes and styles his hair like him as a coping mechanism, that’s the silhouette. He then drinks the potion a few years later(when the silhouette is seen). Like in the story film theory referenced, he faints then wakes up years later, waking up old, so he looks like Rick. It feels like no time has past for him, so he’s still coping. As a coping mechanism he delves in to Science to live on Rick’s legacy. Doing this he stumbles upon Rick’s old inventions and gadgets so he goes into another similar world(which hasn’t reunited with Rick yet) gets rid of their Rick and comes back to relive those adventures and memories.
Sadly most creators don't want to look at theories so they don't bias themselves and have to change their actual story bc it has already been theorized
Close in some ways, but much different at the same time. Dan Harmon said in an interview back in 2018 that he actively avoids fan theories to avoid coming to the conundrum of either 1) thinking they came up with it later, only to remember it was something they read; and 2) if the writers did come up with it first, but then read a fan theory on it later, Dan said he might question the idea all together and may change it purely based because it mirrored a fan theory.
@@firstnamelastname489 dan harmon and justin roiland too, it would make sense not wanting to get your head full of theories from people that’s nowhere near your implication from the show if you are creating one
@@amvmaker6993 Completely agree with that. Sometimes you have to not read the fan theories so you don't accidentally steal an idea or even worse not use an great idea just because you're self conscious that someone else thought about it. Thanks for the info!
There's a third option. Rick has shown himself to be very capable of transferring his consciousness from one being to another. Both Ricks did it in the toxic rick episode. The clones were another option that didn't work out the way he liked. It's entirely possible that the memory juice Rick gave to Morty simply erased everything Morty had in his head and replaced it with a copy of Rick. Essentially killing him. Later on he looks for ways that don't involve waiting for a Morty to grow up so he can steel his body.
@@maxhutto3056 Rick is established to be a genius. Engineering a clone body so it would look like his regular self is something well within Rick's capabilities.
This doesn't necessarily tie into a lot of things, But you know how Rick is depressed all the time because he knows so much. Ever sort of wake up at night remembering something stupid you did in the past? Well, doncha think if you had to live with your stupid teenage self all the time, see him make all the same mistakes you'd be depressed maybe even find it funny sometimes, maybe sometimes frustrating. Wouldn't you rather take your past self on cool fun adventures instead of just living that same loser life. Doesn't have to be just knowing all the secrets of the universe. Reconciling with your past is something we always have trouble with. Memory is the key.
Morty does turn into Rick. Notice everything Morty wants, Rick shits on and in the end Morty gets hurt or something. Example, Morty wants a dragon, Rick hates dragons, then Mortys dragon cheats on him with his grandpa and Morty goes on to hate dragons.
Considerying it isn't even made by the same studio nor the same people, it has very little reason to be canon. It is about as canon as Doc and Marthi or the hardee's commercials are.
@@periquitodonordeste8577 Is it bad that I 1: guessed you where doing that, and 2: still clicked on the video like to confirm my suspicions? Luckily though, 3: saw the title before it started playing. The one time youtube advertisement is a blessing hehehe
Except we saw Morty as an old man in the hospital, when he was dying of old age. Episode of him trying to change his future choosing different pathways as he went.
Maybe different life choices would have altered his appearance perhaps, I mean rick has clearly been through a lot seeing how many cybernetic enhancements he has, could have even changed his face to hide the truth
But would they really keep it? In the most literal sense, no. They would take it however, but keeping it would suggest they would never spend the money. So no, if they kept it it would be worthless, a billion worthless dollars
This "Morty becoming Rick and being his own grandfather" theory makes sense compared to the origins of the Rick and Morty show as a Marty and Doc Brown show. In the first Back to the Future, Doc Brown warned Marty about having his mother falling in love with him and becoming his own grandfather. Which Futurama also parodied with Fry and his grandmother. So it seems heavily plausible with the evidence all the way back to the concept of the show.
That idea isn't new Both Back to the Future and Futurama do this as a reference to the well known grandfather paradox, and it's all about time travel, which is absent from Rick and Morty as Matpat stated
I like how not one person has pointed out the fact that right before the face overlay, Rick say to Morty word for word “ see you later... Rick Sanchez” as he points to Morty
however if Mortys just grow up to look like Ricks due to genetics and familial bonds than evil Morty is doomed. Idk, this is just the things that I think about at like 2am.
I think evil morty was the one who got the elixir (explaining his intelligence), and he is slowly growing up to be Rick which he hates for abandoning him causing this personal vendetta
But the professer is frys relative not dad or him in the future, the professor does clone himself so it's just his clone but it would be his son not his grandson?so how did u come to ur conclusion?
Two alternate theories, without time travel: Rick knew he would be killed, so he used Morty's memory to reanimate himself. Or Rick passed the baton of all his knowledge to Morty - Morty becomes Rick 2.0. In the latter case the reference to rvw could be saying that Morty's life will never be the same
@@gabriela.8141 right before the he flies off to start the fight. Before super imposing their faces in the glass, he point at Morty and says: catch you later then, Rick Sanchez! You can even see Morty react to it as if he understood.
"so this is your timeline, it totally sucks" Evil morty defied the time loop. He didnt take the vial as soon as rick left. He took it not too long ago hense having rick's memories and smartness. Rick is talking about how Morty not taking the vial, thus him somehow surviving that final battle because of Evil Morty not drinking the vial and getting a new morty to fix up the time loop. This may be why Evil Morty hates C-137. He doesn't want this loop to happen anymore but indirectly makes it happen.
Also this would make sense of Rick being the smartest man in the universe. Sure he could just be naturally smart. But what if there was one Rick, the original Rick, who invented the potion of knowledge? Passing his own knowledge down to the next generation or the generation after. Accumulating knowledge with every cycle until he knows everything there is to know
Heeey i don't know if i'm the only one who noticed this but in the season 5 finale when morty gets to see ricks memories there is a scene(15:10) where there are 2 Ricks who have yellow t-shirts and blue pants just like morty but with an extra coat. I dont really see any connections in these kinda things (thats why i enjoy whatching your content so i get up to speed) but maybe you/people looking at comments can make sence of this
They don't look exactly the same, they look similar. His head shape and his face is different, his hair shape is different, the only similarity is that the hair is blue, and he has the same bald spot

My theory:
After Rick dies, Morty wears his clothes and styles his hair like him as a coping mechanism, that’s the silhouette.

Sometimes I feel like the creators come in watch these theories just so they don't write this
Sadly most creators don't want to look at theories so they don't bias themselves and have to change their actual story bc it has already been theorized
@@amvmaker6993 George R. R. Martin said that in an interview but he's the only one who has openly admitted, I think.
@@firstnamelastname489 dan harmon and justin roiland too, it would make sense not wanting to get your head full of theories from people that’s nowhere near your implication from the show if you are creating one

No. It is their dimension whose dumb. They eat poop.
@@thirdly5509 different rick

But what about Doofus Rick?
There's a third option. Rick has shown himself to be very capable of transferring his consciousness from one being to another. Both Ricks did it in the toxic rick episode. The clones were another option that didn't work out the way he liked. It's entirely possible that the memory juice Rick gave to Morty simply erased everything Morty had in his head and replaced it with a copy of Rick. Essentially killing him. Later on he looks for ways that don't involve waiting for a Morty to grow up so he can steel his body.
That’s kinda what I thought

This doesn't necessarily tie into a lot of things, But you know how Rick is depressed all the time because he knows so much. Ever sort of wake up at night remembering something stupid you did in the past? Well, doncha think if you had to live with your stupid teenage self all the time, see him make all the same mistakes you'd be depressed maybe even find it funny sometimes, maybe sometimes frustrating. Wouldn't you rather take your past self on cool fun adventures instead of just living that same loser life. Doesn't have to be just knowing all the secrets of the universe.
