For those curious, I’ve been using Combustion Inc. since it released (with 2 probes and Boosters), but purchased Typhur Sync when it was released, and it’s been neck and neck with the Combustion Inc. but also less expensive, more convenient with the probes stored in the Display, and WiFi connectivity. Typhur is also working on an updated firmware to include an additional internal temperature sensor along with graphing for all sensors.
Love love love my Typhur!!!!!!! Bro I have gone rounds with trying to find wireless probes that meet my OCD standards with my BBQ and Typhur wins hands down! The journey set off when I was tired of using wired probes. I have always been a thermoworks guy but hated wired probes. Typhur is a game changer. Cures my BBQ OCD
Excellent review. I saw Amazon’s pricing drop and great reviews, so I picked one up. It was great to see the quality and features validated in a really good in depth review! Excited to try mine out tomorrow on a strip roast!
LOVE THIS CHANNEL HEY TOM IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE THE TYPHUR WHEN BAKING IN A OVEN ALSO WHAT ABOUT FRYING MEATS LIKE CHICKEN BREAST THIGHS AND MEAT CHOPS❓️👍👀
Good review! The only reason I bought a Meater 2+ was for it's very high upper temp limit. The Typhur will probably join it soon, for low and slow cooks, but if Typhur could pull off a high temp version (let's make the base water proof too), I'd give my Meater to a friend.
@october001 At the flame source, sure, but heat at the grill level is usually 550 to 600 degrees. I still can't think of anything I'd cook that would harm the probe. If Im searing, it's only over the direct heat for a few minutes. Then I'm movingly to my two zone to finish.
Not that I would use it for yakitori but my yaki grill, with binchotan, can get well over 1200 F, with temps on the *open air grill* hitting 750-900. A big green egg can hit 1000 degrees with the lid closed and even my little propane one can sear at 650, with the lid closed. While I may never need a probe for those kinds of temperatures, it's still nice having the confidence that it can do so.@@rickwischer1318
bought the Meater 2, really liked it, but after seeing this video bought the Typhur with a $100 coupon from Amazon. Really like the thinner probe, but I guess it's just a small detail against all of the features the Typhur has. Should I stick to the Meater or is this a good decision? Loved your content, btw!!!
Thanks for video! Does the app allow you to save and store previous cooks? It's always been helpful to go back and look at graphs of previous cooks to get better! Thanks
I noticed on Amazon that _only_ the probes are listed as IP67. Is the actual unit ok to leave next to the grill while it's raining? (Yes, I'm kinda hardcore.)
I think only the probes are waterproof. I leave the base inside my house, and I haven't had any issue with connection even with the probes inside the grill outside, away from the house.
How accurate are the ambient temperature sensors? I’ve read that the ones on the meater probes are not very accurate, if these are more accurate that will make my decision easier
I found the Typhur to be very accurate. Likewise, I personally never had any issues with accuracy with my Meater probes. Before the Typhur came out, I did a comparison between MEATER, The Meatstick, TempSpike, and Combustion inc. Accuracy wasn't an issue with any of them. Check it out: ua-cam.com/video/EKikURzBoec/v-deo.html
Hey Tom, is there an alarm when you hit temp, or go too low? Like a real alarm not a useless notification. Like a wake your ass up in the middle of the night alarm. Like you drank a couple in the hammock on a nice day and I'm not sleeping so stop saying I'm sleeping, I'm just resting my eyes alarm?
my device is paired. It says "connected" but when I open up "devices" on my app, it says I dont have any connected devices. That's a problem, and customer service won't answer
Here is a tech question re wifi. At 8:22 in the video you are several miles away. My Typhor is connnected to my home wifi. So what is the process to connect the phone/app to a wifi that is NOT your home wifi like you did. Thanks and love your review!
Hi, I’m not sure I understand the question. The Typhur sync and your phone do not have to be on the same wifi. In the video, the Typhur was connected to my home wifi while I was on my cellular service 5g network. In the app, you can connect the Typhur to which ever wifi signal you want.
@@tomwadek that dream may have died quickly, tried to order but it said that it could not be shipped to my address, maybe they aren't available in Canada.
My probs don't stay connected to my hotspot if I go too far. If I keep the monitor close to the hotspot it stays connected, but if I want to move far away I have monitor via phone app
do you know, if i set a temp on the base, can i make the base beep? Do i have to download the app in order to get a sound? Or do i need to keep me eye on the base until my temp is reached?
@@tomwadek how do i get it to beep? I've tried and the temp just keeps going up with no sound. Do i need to download the app? do i need to be connected to wi-fi?
😂 the only reason that was filmed was because my dumb butt spent 20mins walking around like a dummy trying to drop wifi signal when all I had to do was turn it off in the Typhur app lol
I have a Typhur synch and it loses connection like crazy, also I used 1 probe and didn’t even last 7 hrs on a full charge for a brisket cook. Don’t waste your time, I got suckered in to buying based a different UA-cam review. My tried and true Smoke by ThermoWorks has been rock solid but I thought some of the features the Typhur had were pretty cool. Welp, if it doesn’t function properly the bells and whistles don’t matter. Hard pass, folks.
They probably aren't taking the meat probe world by storm because their customer service sucks mountain oysters. I ordered 17 days ago and they can't tell me if my order actually shipped or just the default label was automatically produced. I'm not holding my breath for the call back as their phone goes straight to VM.
@@T2_Sug supposedly arriving today - a rep did email me also and said they ran out of stock and the website didn't get updated to reflect that, so they had to wait on resupply from Hong Kong. @@Whatzitmatter I finally got mine the other day. I have to be honest and say I like it so far. Also Amazon had quick shipping lol. I bought another one and it was at my house in two days
My experience with customer service was exceptional. My first unit had an issue where the difference in ambient temperatures between the two probes was rather high. They promptly replaced with email exchanges never more than one day.

Thanks for sharing, Kirk. The sync is an all in one package. The only improvement I can think of is thinner probes but that display and wifi is 👌🏼
I just got one. I love it! Did a 6 hour cook with it and it was absolutely perfect!
Glad you like it!

Just bought 2 food thermometers to go along with my thermometer gun just yesterday..a regular one and a wireless one (Meater Plus).
That’s great, just in time for the holidays. How are you liking them?
This Typhur is much better than the MEATER.

@rickwischer1318 open flame grilling gets much hotter.

To wall hang, simply attach VELCRO pads. One on a wall etc.. the other on the back of the unit.
