Found the Combustion with display last night for $159 and was ready to pull the trigger . . . only to see your video this morning to learn that Meater stepped up with the 2 plus and a completely new to me Typhur (also at $159). I don't really cook thinner cuts of meat, so I believe the Typhur is probably the best deal at this point. Thanks for the video. PS - I really wish Fireboard would do a wireless - I love their wired probe/fan controlling set up.
i would stay away from meater probes unless they step up the customer service portion of the business its horrendous i bought one after all the rave reviews here on youtube when its working its great my issue is my charging block is faulty and its been since feb i am trying to get them to replace it and still fighting
The Typhur Sync has a rock-solid connection between the probes and the base, plus the wifi -- which means that connection issues are a thing of the past. Add the fact that it has two probes, and I think there is a very CLEAR winner in this contest.
I have the Typhur Sync, and I have found the predictions it makes to be pretty accurate. This allows me to get sides together at the right time so it all ends up on the table together. It was the surprise feature that I really like, that I wasn't expecting when I bought it.
That’s great. When I did a side by side, granted the probes where on slightly different locations, I found the MEATER was the first to predict followed by Typhur and then combustions inc. I found the combustion inc to be the most accurate and the Typhur and MEATER to be almost identical.
Hands down the best most informative review of the thermometers; thanks for posting this. I ordered the Combustion Inc. one as I’m quite the nerd who wants to explore and experiment with cooking different types of meat. I’ll come back here and share my experience when I receive and use it. Cheers
Thank you for this. I was comparing the Meater+ 2 and Typhur Sync when I learned about the Combustion Inc. Thought, "sure would be nice to see a thorough comparison of all three", and you've done just that! Really wish the Typhur Sync probes were thinner. Leaning towards the Combustion Inc at this point.
Thank for your reviews and comparisons. I rarely leave comments but i do want to say thank you for your structured reviews. Personally it was a toss up between the Typhur and the M2+, and I would have gone with Typhur if not for the fact that their app isn’t supported in Singapore on the AppStore. I’m guessing that most of your audience are in the US, but it might be a good PSA for anyone outside the country to check if the app is supported in their local country before buying it. I decided on the M2+ in the end - I love most things about it, except that I would really like 2 probes instead of just 1. Anyway thank you again for such awesome videos!
Thanks for the great feedback and PSA. I didn’t know that about the app support. I’m glad you’re enjoying your m2+. I’m sure MEATER will update the block soon to include the new design. Happy cooking!
Very good video and on point! I love the idea of wireless probes and monitoring from miles away. I have a full size Nu-Vu smoker cook hold and I'm concerned with connectivity through the double wall cabinet. I currently use a Tappecue but I'm really over the wired probe tangle. Leaning toward the Typhur.
The Typhur sync is clearly a winner. Yes, it is a LITTLE thicker, but you forgot to mention its probes can run up to 50HRS fully charged! It is 5.4 Bluetooth while meater 2 plus is 5.2.. Combustion inc handle feels cheap being only ceramic and I would not dare to sear with it and the display has to be by the grill, mine looses connection if I take it in-house.
For that reason you have the booster, which you can leave next to the grill, the you can take the Display inside 😉 And there should be comming also the Wifi update of the app, so that would also help with connection. Searing with the combustion is also not really a problem for me - for one, you don't need a ripping hot grill/pan to get a nice sear, but even if you do, as long as you flip it every 30secondy, I didn't got over the temp limit..
Just cooked the brisket low and slow, enabled WiFi and Bluetooth…7 miles from home I was still getting my thermometer readings. How is that for connectivity? Amazing. Typhur is the winner.
Can any of these display Celsius instead of Fahrenheit in their apps/ displays? I looked through the combustion website and could not find any mention of being able to utilize Celsius in the app.
Great review, I'm inclined towards the Combustion Inc as an engineer, but the lack of wi-fi support (they say it's coming, but they've moved the date a few times) gives me pause. I'll probably give it a week or two, but if that is still a pipe dream I'm going to buy the meater 2 plus
If your going to be data driven and run some experiments, go with combustion inc it’s worth it. For a balanced best bang for your buck, MEATER is hard to beat. If WiFi and having an all in one package is what your looking for, Typhur sync hits a home run
@@andrewrecio5752why? I have the meater 2 plus and it's wildly off in its predictions. Today I set it for 52 degrees C because I know it overshoots. It ended up at 62.... PoS so was thinking of getting the combustion.
Amazon actually has the Typhur smart dual thermometer discount sale and a free $120 instant thermometer bundle sale. It's a nice deal. I currently have the Chef IQ smart thermometer, but I wish it has a temp monitor screen. I don't like touching my phone screen while handling raw meat.
According to the manufacturer, the Meater 2 Pro is submersible, and suitable for use in sous vide cooking. Do you know if the other two are similarly suitable for under-water use, and able to handle a vacuum when sealed into a sous vide bag? I'm also curious about suitability for use in a pressure cooker, though who knows if the signal could get out. The meater 2 folks say they haven't tested for that. I'd think the temperature should be no problem (wouldn't get above 250°F) but who knows about the pressure.
I wouldn't have that answer for you. A pressure cooker would introduce a lot of stress to the internal components. I would advise against it. As far as sous vide, my gut tells me it should be fine. Other brands like the Meatstick 4x I believe can be used for sous vide. Cheers!
Can multiple Meater 2+ probe channels be read by the app? I notice they are only sold as singles, but not sure if that means there's a single channel limit or not. 🤔
Hard to say. Depends on what you are cooking and the feature that are most important to you. The MEATER has a 1000F limit for the ambient temp that is useful for searing. It’s also thinner. The Typhur is an all in one 2 probe wifi package but thicker.
@@tomwadek Thanks. 90% of my cooking is slow cooking on a kamado at 270 or less. My searing is done and then the steaks are set aside on a stone to reach desired temp.
Meater 2 is an alright update but they missed the proper layout on the internal sensors and, come on, how does it not have built in wifi in 2024. I get that its good, but they should have done better.

thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Combustion inc has been a let down for me. Connectivity sucks app is buggy and prediction is never accurate. Been using it for almost a year.
Watched your reviews, ordered the Typhur sync and I absolutely love it man! This this is fantastic.
Awesome! Thank you!
I've used Combustion for more than a year and I'm completely happy with it.

it would be so nice if meater would include an "expert function" which would show the graphs of all sensors, even if they are not evenly spaced out.
Can any of these display Celsius instead of Fahrenheit in their apps/ displays? I looked through the combustion website and could not find any mention of being able to utilize Celsius in the app.
Yes all 3

From what I understand I believe on combustion Inc side it’s all done and ready. They are working some apple iso issues to keep it open sourced.
I was leaning toward the combustion, but meater 2 plus might be the one because of price.

I find it crazy, even in 2024, how one of the distinguishing features of a "COOKING THERMOMETER" is the accompanying app.

What is your take on the Typhur Sync at $143.10 (current sale price with 10% off for sign up) vs tha Meater 2 Plus at $129.95.

what about accuracy out of the box?
In touch up on it a bit, combustion Inc seems like it’s the most accurate followed by Typhur and MEATER neck and neck.
@@tomwadek thank you that’s what’s important to me at least.
