Wienerwald Rotisserie Chicken using Typhur Sync Wireless Thermometers

  • Back in the late 70's early 80's I worked for a restaurant group that was bought by a German restaurant chain called "Wienerwald Chicken". They tried to incorporate some of their European style food into the menus of Ranch House and Lum's restaurants here in the USA and it did not go over well. The chicken was very simply seasoned rotisserie cooked almost like what you see now in your local Costco and grocery store.
    The recipe for the run I used on this bird:
    1/4 cup kosher salt
    3 tbs paprika
    1 tbs garlic powder
    1 tap ground black pepper

    I used the Typhur Sync wireless thermometer system to monitor the cooking and internal temperature of the bird while it was spinning!

    Chicken looks beautiful!
    I scooped up the Typhur wireless thermometer after Christmas and so far it's a great product. Clean and simple interface and it's really accurate. This is a hidden gem here that needs to get some more visibility out there. Great overview!!

    I lived in Berlin Germany for many year's and Weinerwald was absolutely the BEST! They also had rotisserie duck during the weihnachten season.

      I was amazed at how simple the recipe was. The Owner of Weinerwald even came around to All the restaurants in the USA including mine to taste the potato salad and chicken to see if we were doing it right and I was there that day. Back then we made a lot of stuff from scratch. The Rotisserie machine was a new concept back then but today they are everywhere..

      I never tried the recipe but I miss going to Weinerwald... I was in Berlin in the mid 80's it was a good place to be.... Then!
