I feel like the fear mechanic is severely underused, it's saved me many times both with driller and gunner with ease
Well his drills have a fear factor by default, so they'll save you in a pinch if you're in trouble.
Carpet bomber fear op
I like using fear with the Smart rifle and fear overclock, you’re always putting out fear due to the fast lock acquisition.
the fear upgrade on the gunners' autocannon is busted at killing pretorinansas, I agree
Fear on the M1K during Macteria plague can really save your butt if you can kill 1. Gives some much needed breathing room
Explosive reload 1 shots web-spitters with a reload. It’s so satisfying to put 1 shot into 6 spitters and take them all out with a single reload. Easily my favorite driller over clock.
3 shots acid too
Driller was the last character I tried, and it turns out he’s probably my favorite, I mean who doesn’t enjoy a good C4 explosion? His primary weapons are so much fun, although his secondary weapons aren’t the greatest, but hopefully that will all change in April!
The EPC is my favorite secondary
@@Kwaark to each his own bro. Do you run a OC on it?
@@IazyIombax there's no reason not to, at least run energy rerouting since it has no downsides.
@@IazyIombax energy rerouting, build 21222
@@Bruno-cb5gk for sure. Just curious what OC you can run to set it apart from the other amazing secondary weapons to call it your favorite.
Honestly if your using the Sabata the mactera upgrade is the only thing that makes the most sense flying enemy's is the only thing driller struggles with. Also the tranquilizer OC is just plain stupid but in a good way
I just love using Driller as a support with Friendly perk (-50% dmg vs friendly fire) + Cold Radiance, then go through a horde and freeze everything while my teammates shoot everything on sight, including me, but that's when Friendly perk comes in. I'd rather go down than get my teammates hit by enemies.
Absolutely loved this, the showing off builds and explaining them. Would be interested in seeing some builds for other classes as well sometime.
Fantastic guide mate ! Thank you for your hard work ! Rock and Stone !!
My favourite flamethrower build involves damage over time, setting on fire fast and fear upgrade. I just spray the enemies, they run away, and by the time they stop running, they'll burn to death. Extremely ammo efficient and deals more than sufficient damage!
I can’t wait until you showcase the new secondary’s. You’re the guy I go to to watch the new stuff.
I feel like persistent plasma is better if you intend to mostly use the EPC for TCF combat, or energy rerouting for mixing regular and charged shots. Subata only seems to make sense on flamethrower builds, especially sticky flames since you can place down your fire to set everyone on fire then finish enemies off with your 50% bonus damage. It's frustrating that explosive reload doesn't synergise with this very well since otherwise it seems like the best overclock for it.
Great video! For anyone just starting out Haz 5, your recommendations will ensure they start off on the right foot, but also the mindset to explore and experiment! Something to note about your recommendations for Subata, I think Explosive Reload and Automatic Fire are really interchangeable between general use and Elimination. They both have really solid damage and have attributes that add to either use case. AF has a bit more ease of use with less clicking required and more granular damage, but it also works well against armor on big targets like Brundles, the Twins, and Shellbacks. On the other hand, ER can put out damage consistently at a longer range to better cover the primaries' weaknesses which is good for general use, while still having that massive burst damage for larger targets. Basically, they can both be used for both cases. They're that versatile.
I discovered Ice Storm about a year ago and I was blown away when I saw the damage it did to Dreadnoughts, especially the yellow armor bars on normals and hiveguards. It's pretty much the only cryo build I use. The reduced freezing power can be a pain, but Cold Radiance helps make up for it. Trying to play right on the edge of a dreadnought or bulk detonator's range to get max freezing power is tons of fun.
I tried sludge blast and was kind of disappointed; it just didn't seem strong enough to sacrifice the area control I got from goo bomber special.
I have high hopes for the wave cooker.
i feel ice spear with max ammo and cold radiance is the most versatile. it combines very fast freezing speed (only like a quarter of a second slower than tuned cooler) with the potential of powerful single target burst damage thats almost as strong as hyperpropellant. with it you can reliably defend yourself at any range, and provide damage up to the whole team. excellent in any mission type besides sabotage (but not actively detrimental for sabotage, fire would just be a bit better then).
Are you going to do this sort of video for all the classes? I would very much appreciate it. R&S!
This videos are great! When you'll do the rest of the classes?
Wish this series got finished. Would love to have a video like this for the other dwarves @axiskronos
My goodness, are those... particle effects? Decals? And persistent bodies? I'll be damned. 😆
Bone works music I see you’re a man of taste
I love how tanky the driller gets using vampire and mowing down medium-sized enemies with cryo+drills
I tried cryo cannon with epc that has fire bullet mod and I really liked the reaction damage shooting frozen enemies.
My first driller overclock was icestorm, and man has eliminations never been easier
For some missions I prefer running the magazine size on the sticky fuel build instead of range in tier 1. I've had the reloads mess with me more often than the extra range helping me.
Something I've been wondering: is tranquilizer rounds on subata any good? It seems cool but i really don't know.
Im quite fond of sticky flames with extra heat and enemies explode, extra heat kills robot faster and enemies explode cheaply and quickly diposes of naedocytes and shredders. Ofc its not for sabo, its for rival presence (and the odd nemesis)
If you plan on doing more of these in the near future, wouldn't it be better to wait 'til the new set of secondaries come out?
I don't use the Cryo Cannon often enough but I use the same general purpose build with faster spin up time vs the +1 cold. I just really struggle with the timing of everything if I don't
It depends on the mission for me. I usually go with Stronger Cooling Unit, but I'll swap it out for Faster Turbine Spinup if I know I’m going to be fighting in a cramped area (e.g. around the drop pod in Salvage).
🥶
Here’s another build that works well for driller on haz 5: use the fuel stream diffuser, T1 Highcap tanks, T2 Triple filtered fuel, T3 More fuel, T4 More fuel or It burns, T5 Heat radiance because you’re going to be reliant on afterburn. This build is for taking down swarms of tightly packed bugs, your increased range will allow you to burn them from a safe distance, take the Automatic fire subata shown in this video with the volatile bullets for dealing with tanky bugs. Very ammo efficient and helps with drillers weakness that is range.
Disclaimer: this has the same weaknesses as using Neurotoxin payload on gunner or cryo minelets on scout. Good for crowd control but poor direct damage. So don’t take this for dreadnoughts or caretaker fights.
Credit to drilling in the name of for this build idea.
If you have two drillers one goes sticky flame build while the other goes goo bomber special its devastating
The first time i tried driller i hated it, hated him.
While trying to promote him i learned his kit a bit and unlocked the cryo cannon and man o man did i fall in love with him
Since the Cold Radiance thing is not affected by flow rate or freezing power upgrades, I prefer to run Cold Radiance with clean Cryo Cannon build using Improved Thermal Efficiency, and I prefer to run Fragile while I'm using Tuned Cooler.
That’s a good point that I should have mentioned
Would it be better to use a hydrogen ion additive slowdown build for support, or the sludge blast build you recommended for direct damage for elimination
The slow is great for priority targets in a team setting. Sludge Pump isn't really a DPS weapon, compared to the rest of your team.
Slows help a ton for Dreads
Any thoughts on the plasma burn upgrade on any EPC builds with cryo?
Temperature shock is good for wiping out enemies with around 200 or less health. It fills the same role as fragile does. But Praetorians, Oppressors, Dreads Etc aren't going to be very phased by 200 flat damage, so you would be much better off with 2-3 axes or a high burst damage secondary that wont end the freeze.
Worth noting that of all the primary builds showcased, the sticky flames build is highly viable well beyond haz 5. It's almost fair to say it scales positively in its performance with more enemies (especially fodder).
In haz 6+, NOT having a sticky flames player on the team significantly reduces the success rate of the mission unless the group all runs good alternatives.
True, however i'm personally not concerned with anything beyond Hazard 5. Most difficulty mods can be used to cheat XP so morally i'm not going to acknowledge/advocate that anyone play anything higher.
In this case, which T2 or T5 mod makes the most sense?
The +heat works great for setting bigger things on fire, but I'm assuming +dmg is more valuable for high dps enemies
I'm on the fence for T5... the aura is great for being surrounded or jumping into the fray, but has a 1 sec activation, no? Then it would seem the explosions would be better for kiting crowds.
1:10 did you mean absolutely _incinerating_ small to medium hostiles?
gunner builds whene?
This is good advice if you wanna get through Haz 5 for the first time, but it shouldn't be a rule. Every weapon in DRG is viable if used right. You should always feel free to experiment with less popular weapons, mods or overclocks to figure out which one is the best for you.
scout builds when?
6:28
"don't underestimate this killing power" then proceeds to use 4 shots to kill a pretorian
i know he wasnt close enough but there are better builds to deal damage with dot and increasing your total damage is better than having a build too ammo hungry
basically for everything that isnt sabotage i use 32112 with disperder compound to wall out my enemies and shread them with dot from the direct hit, the puddles and eventually puddles on fire, while taking half/third of the supplies that normally other teammates take
So is ice spear not as good at killing dreads compared to ice storm?
It's pretty good on paper and for general purpose missions, but when it comes to dreads i prefer the more constant stream of damage with the burst on a freeze using axes vs the spear itself. If you try hard enough you might be able to get more value from spear.
@@AxisKronos I do only play haz 3 so far but I can kill the dreads in 2 cycles (depending if my team knows what they are doing) and I get good chunks off. but I thought ice storm would cause the tank to repressure before I freeze the dread and that would be a endless cycle.
What about the cooker?
I guess it wasn't in the game a year ago
Why ignore industrial sabotage?
And we never will see any other class bc who knows
I think the subanta micro explosives slightly different than the ones on the zhokovs, I noticed the explosion damage on the subanta doesn't increase as I place more shots on the enemy.
My test was: 2 shot then reload won't kill a loot bug but 1 shot reload then another 1 shot reload will kill it
Don't know what you mean. I two shot lootbugs very consistently with embed Dets. It seems to work almost identically to embed zhukovs.
This is most definitely not how it works chief. It sounds like you're just missing the second shot.
