Possible bug tech: on escort missions during the floating rocks phase, driller can stand on top of Doretta and drill the falling rocks instantly when they fall on her, no damage and it saves mad ammo. Just like drilling the spitballer shots, basically.
Important note: do NOT try the C4 levitation thing with the volatile compound upgrade. The C4 WILL blow up in your face, causing you to take a lot of damage.
just don't use volatile compound, so many things blow it up that it's more useful for mining than blowing up bugs even more so if you have a 4 member team.
As a new player to the game (47 hours) looking to main driller with cryo/epc/axes combo, I really appreciate all the useful tips learnt here. Especially the axe cancelling and the spitball blocking with the drills.
dont discount the fun of the flamethrower, regular pistol, and other nade stuff. this video is more applicable when you are pushing the limits of what the hardest you can handle is. lower difficulties can still be enjoyable, especially when drunk, and let.you play around more
@@scout360pyroz The Cryo + Axe combo goes better with my favourite playstyle of immobilising enemies completely and finishing them off while they can't do anything. So naturally I enjoy cryo more than flame. Also, epc mining is way more enjoyable to me than regular pistols. Already uploaded like 4 Elite Deep Dives on my channel using this combo.
@@claudealpha2090 cryo also brings down big enemies faster when your team is on point with concentrating heavy damage manuvers. I like fire, and I like mining like a dwarf lol. My playstyle is more relaxed than this guys, though I can do hazard fives. If I want to coast around on easy mode and have fun, I get drunk, encourage the other players to do the same, and we go on hazard 3. Like Karl would.
As a new player, a lot of these tips are flying over my head, but one thing that stands out to me is your ability to interweave combat & objectives. My group still has a definite "context switch" moment when changing between the two, and our missions are taking too long because of it.
Honestly, people don't talk enough about how hazard 4 and 5, especially on point extraction, will demand that you be able to juggle combat and the objective.
For such a simple game, there is actually a lot of nuance. The skill ceiling for each class, specifically driller, is really surprising. I figured the best you could be at Deep Rock is decent game sense and good aim, but a lot more goes into it. You can be a pretty damn good driller even with poop aim, and that's what I love about this game. It feels really cool to wipe swarms with the floating satchel charge tech, or mine a nitra vein on the ceiling with the secondary. Great video btw, I learned a lot and I'm definitely going to practice this stuff!
You can use impact axes to destroy the shock crystals as well! Takes 3 of them and you can retrieve, and you can also get rid of multiple biome hazards like the poison shrooms, cave urchins, one hit the ebonut shells but not the radioactive crystals sadly. Love the vids man :)
With the vines that creep up on terrain, I've found that if you find their "stem" that they retreat to, and destroy the terrain supporting it, the vine is destroyed. Takes some time, though.
Taking out the terrain around the base works, but you can pick at the wood log part with the 'needle' sticking out. Though this is the intended way, it doesn't really work a lot of times. I don't know what causes it, but the hitbox can be inconsitent. Sometimes you hit at the base and it's like swinging your pick in the air. No hit sound, no damage done. Just pick it once, and if it doesnt work clear out the terrain around it :)
Really nice video, it's super good to be able to know how a more experienced player goes around doing his missions and all the neat little secret tricks!
Dude, I never knew how effective the fragile mod is - back then I checked the wiki on how both T5 mods worked, and I saw that fragile only triggers on "low" health targets and it doesn't even kill them if they have frost resistance. So I dismissed it as just a funny gimmick mod and went with cold radiance without even giving fragile a try. Didn't realize that grunts only have 90 base health so even if they were still at full health after getting frozen, it can trigger with a 10% chance per hit. It's pretty brutal. Does make triggering vampire with the drills a bit more difficult though since you kill frozen grunts so fast, you can't just freeze a large group of them and then heal for half of your health bar.
Fragile interacts with H5 Scaling in a funny way, due to the damage resistance it leaves grunts at around 3 hp, making vampire extremely easy to use. And yeah i agree that the wording of fragile is misleading. Makes you think that "low health" is relative to how much health the enemy has, not how healthy they are to begin with.
**EDIT: This video helped me beat my very first HAZ 5 solo mission. :O ** Excellent video! Learned alot from this and look forward to putting it into practice. Thanks again for the awesome content!
No sleep gang :D Edit: If you don't like creeper vines you can kill them in one hit with axes and it doesn't consume them. Same applies to stabber vines, but I believe it will take you atleast 4 axes.
I personally don't use expanded bags on anything other than scout, but i wonder about veteran depositor instead? it roughly fills the same niche but also has a damage resistance buff, that while it only applies in a small radius, triggers on most objectives. using thorns on driller seems a bit odd to me, and i don't find the need for heightened senses much. resupplier is a must for me though, given the huge amount of health it gives, and the time saver.
Expanded Bag is very useful because more often than not I find myself lacking that extra 5-10 Nitra to call in a Supply Pod, and that's a difference between success and failure especially in EDD. Veteran Depositor is useful in some cases but the issue I have is that you're forced to be almost stationary to get the damage buff, and in EDD it is optimal to kite enemies instead of tanking the damage. TLDR; if you kite, then Veteran Depositor is almost useless. Thorns is a good all-rounder passive skill especially for Driller, but I personally replace this depending on the environment (ex: Fungus Bogs) like Unstoppable (if I'm not using Dash) or Elemental Shield on Magma (Driller's 50% fire resistance + 30% elemental resistance = little fire damage). As for Heighten Senses, I typically bring it mainly because I don't want to drag down my teammates whenever something disables me due to my own lack of awareness. Sometimes them rescuing you spells doom to the whole mission. If you're Solo and you get caught, Bosco can help out but it's slow and a bit unreliable especially if it's far away from you.
Hello AK, I found your videos just today and they are great. I am looking fwd to the Remastered EPC guide as I am having issues getting it to work consistently. All of your other videos are great as well. I am now a subscriber.

I prefer using the increased radius on the EPC Because it increases the AOE on the TCF Shot and moves more dirt. I also use stun on my Satchels because I don’t remain static during swarms I kite them all and blow them all up or light them on fire. Also another thing you can do is shoot explosives at the base of the stabber vines.

they default hotkeys 1-4 are good, but if you have extra buttons on your mouse that's what i would recommend. Overall going from scroll swapping to hotkey swapping is the biggest personal skill progression imo
Question - when you say you can get bonus weakpoint melee on the large things, is that still relevant while their frozen? I know freezing gets rid of normal enemy weak points so I'd presumed it'd do the same with them
Absolutely! Flamethrower is one of the best weapons in the game. Cryo is a very different playstyle that CAN do a ton of damage when practiced and mastered, flame is slightly less, but still massively impactful.
Sticky Additive is great on Flamethrower but it has less ammo, and in higher difficulties you'd rather want your enemies to be dead asap than wait for them to die out via DPS. I learned you cant count on bosco 😂
Question. I've noticed this many times in previous videos, but do you use a mouse button for your "depositing" key? Or is it numpad 6? I'd think pressing 6 would normally be pretty out of your way.
6 is on the side of my mouse yes, that would be strange for sure
what Bosco specs do you have?
