💬 Well, here it is FINALLY! I have to say, I was mentally preparing myself to have to do this one completely over from scratch. I got pretty lucky with Seagate offering to recover my data. (Thanks Seagate!).
This one was very difficult because it was so long and intricate. I truly hope I did it justice.
I would say “On to the next” but the next video will likely be coming out tomorrow sometime! Hope you guys are in the mood for some grunge OGs! 💜
❤
Sounded GREAT !!!
You did Great!❤❤❤
Good stuff as usual, intricate or not, lol! And yay Seagate!
Great job Wondermomma!!❤
I know a lot of people automatically think More Than A Feeling when Boston comes up, but for me, this is easily their true masterpiece. And I say that knowing that More Than A Feeling is amaaaazing. But this... this is another level of collective genius.
First track from their first album. For a lot of us, it's the first Boston song we ever heard!
Agreed 👍 plus I have a problem with more than a feeling. I have a serious twisted situation that it conjures up every time I hear it so thank you for not doing that one 😅
I really love this album. You’re the best wonder mama!
Completely agreed. 👍🏻
Dude what a time to be in your teens with tunes like this bangin outta that cheap ass car stereo!! Brad Delp had such a powerful voice and range. Really interesting back story to this band.
Amen
People take it for granted now, but back when this album came out, the guitar tone BLEW OUR MINDS! It was revolutionary and went on to spawn a line of music gear that is still going today.
So true. There was nothing like it sonically.
Yep. Revolutionary. Absolutely. That was one of the purposes of the band, afterall.
The guitar tone others are measured by. That Rocktron just gives the guitar the sweetest distortion.
Amen
@@billyt9987 I think you mean the Rockman. Having said that, there is no Rockman or Rockman Prototype on this record. The heart of Toms guitar sound on this record is a Marshall SLP.
Tom Sholtz, the creative genius behind the band, worked with my father as an engineer at Polaroid in Cambridge in the 70's. I remember him bringing home Boston's 1st album, telling me a friend of his was in the band, I was 10 years old at the time.
Tom was also a MIT graduate, the amount of time he put into all the electronics was worth the wait. I heard it when it first came out.
That is so cool! Boston is iconic...just one listen and you know they are on a totally different level!
@@longshot398 said, "the amount of time he put into all the electronics was worth the wait".
What specific electronics are you referring to? There is no Rockman, no Rock modules or Rockman prototype on this record. Marshall built Toms amp. Sculley built his tape machine. Dan Flickinger built Toms console. The "powersoak" that Tom used for this record was a large variable resistor from a theater lighting system.
Brad Delp is a criminally under rated singer. His voice is stunning. RIP Brad...
I want to thank All of you who do reaction videos! I am 68 years old and I have fallen back in love with the music from my era because of you! Your reactions are very much appreciated!
IMO this is the best DEBUT album ever. I can't believe one man did so much...in a basement! Brad Delp is magical as well
When rock bands just played GREAT NEW SOUNDING tunes. So lucky to live at that time🔥
Yes!!
1976 was a good year! It was the U.S.A. bi- centennial. The country was recovering from being war weary and I was 10. That magical period of time discovering new music that would define our tastes over the following 10 years. We were blessed with this album! Soaring clean guitars blew everyone's minds and it's still doing it today 48 years later! Great job with the editing as always WMOG! Watching younger people reacting to music that I've known since it's release brings joy to my heart! Keep 'em comin'!
I was ten that year also so I know what you are talking about. This was my first 8 track which I listened to over and over. I think I got Foreigner Double Vision also on album and styx grand illusion. Of course, there Steve Miller in middle school. BUT I SOON discovered aerosmith and Ted nugent and soon it was game over.
@@user-fp9qg3qm5b Same man, all them albums. I was 18 played them all with others in there entirety, and this track was 1 of the best! I still turn it up loader then hell, got me a free for all!
One of the greatest rock songs ever, period.
I love the song, the reactions, and this compilation is pure gold.
I started playing guitar when i was 11 and i remember every time id be playing in my room, as soon as there was a little break in the action, my mom would yell from downstairs "PLAY BOSTON!" To the point that it became an inside joke between us. To this day she says Boston is the most underrated band of all time and she might just be right.
If you were Gen X and going to underaged Keg Parties in the mid 80s, this song was definitely in the music rotation.
Had one of my 3 sons talk about "Old people music"....so I started playing my 70s and 80s music in the car on our way to his hockey game and he LOVED my music. Asked me where I got it from....imagine his surprise when I told him that it was from my teen years. Well, now him and all his high school hockey buddies JAM this music before every hockey game!!😂😂
It's one of the all time best selling rock albums of all time for a reason!
SMOKIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was driving from college when I first heard this… had to pull over! Insane how good this is. RIP Brad Delp.
You're very talented and thank you for putting this together 🎶
Simply epic, Being the age I am. I remember when this song came on the radio for the first time. I was BLOWN AWAY, nothing like I ever heard before. Had to go and buy the album and wore it out. To this day I still get chills every time I hear this song.
PSA….I’ve looked at this LP cover for 40 years before realizing the spaceships are guitars.
And in the "bubble" on top is the Boston skyline 🏙
Wait, what?! No way! Okay, I'm off to take a look.
I was 14 when this came out……… and I’ve never been the same, that was when my mind opened up to music, real music, man………..
Oh yes!!! This is actually my fav Boston song!! Barry Goudreau on the guitar! What? Nothing but excellence!!! I also have to mention I remember buying this album...yes the album...and when cover art was always so cool...a lot of people did not realize that the "spaceships" on the cover were actually guitars upside down!!! ❤ Foreplay/Longtime is a great display of the musicianship that often was over looked...Thank you again!!! Love to you Wondermomma for this fun ride from the past!!! Time to bust out my turntable and have a good day of memories and dance it out!!! THANK YOU! ❤🎉❤
Tom Sholtz started this all in a basement studio. He played all parts of these songs and mixed and cut. He actually had the first album almost complete before the band was actually formed. Pure genius and a little luck.
@joepatriot6431 Not quite. Tom did not play all of the instrument tracks on this record. First Tom does not play a single drum track on this record and the record is much better off for this fact. All drum tracks are played by Sib exception for one, and Jim Masdea plays drums on that track Barry is playing electric rhythm guitars on Foreplay, Long Time and Let Me Take You Home Tonight. Barry plays the lead guitar solos on Long Time and he plays lead and slide guitar on Let Me Take You Home. Fran plays bass on Foreplay and Let Me Take You Home. Brad plays acoustic 12 string on Let Me Take You Home which he also wrote. These facts came out in the litigation between Tom and Barry.
All of Brads vocals were recorded at two studios in LA by producer John Boylan, and this record was mixed at Westlake Studios by producer John Boylan, engineer Warren Dewey and Tom with assistance from Steve Hodge.
For me, this is up there with the greatest songs ever written.. the harmonies are great, the guitars are insane..., everything just works.
This has to be in your top 5 compilation reaction episodes.
Wow... thank you. Means a lot considering everything I went through with it. 😅
What an absolute masterpiece! Damn we were spoiled with some awesome music growing up, eh?!
Props for your work, momma! Solid as always 👍
Still to this day, is just so crazy that this was just three people. One person to sing all the vocals, one person to play the drums, and one person to do everything else!
Sorry, needed to point something out. Tom Scholz played the music in it's entirety, including the drums. The vocals were added to the track and the rest of the band were selected by the record company after signing. They're 2nd album was more of a collaboration. Just think, if he would've been an engineer instead, we would've been cheated out of great music. Cheers.
More 60's and 70's bands ! More ! More ! Long life for all old people !
I spent my entire teenage years in the 70s and looking back I feel it was the best decade for music of all genres
This track would have gone off when they played it live to a big crowd! Thanks WonderMomma, great pick!
The best song from one of the best albums of the 70s. I hope this has more people go back and listen to that entire first Boston album. It’s an Eat Pray Love Listen To Boston kind of thing. ♥️
MANY think they see SPACESHIPS on the album cover but we were all high back in the 70’s and through the haze we could tell that they were actually GUITARS. You’re welcome. 🙏🏻
Foreplay was the first song that Tom Scholz wrote back in 1969 while he was at M.I.T. Most people don't know is that all the vocals you hear was Brad Delp doing lead and backup.
Thank you Mamma for another great band, song from our childhood to remember. 🎉😊
Is it just me or is "The Making of this Video" segment equally as captivating as the reaction montage?
Another great effort @WonderMommaOG! Your hard work on these is so greatly appreciated.
Oh, and I love how Mr. Video rockin out so hard, he drops the blunt 🤣and just keeps on rockin!
I am eternally grateful that I was able to grow up during this time. Sure, we didn't have sunscreen, seat belts, helmets, but we had THIS! What a wonderful time to be alive🤟😍🤟
I have yet to be disappointed by any of your creations! Thank you, please keep up the good work.❤🎸😎
"Foreplay is the thing they do before they do the do." I got tears in my eyes from laughing at that. Love that guy!
The genius that is Boston and that unmistakable, epic sound yes, Momma? They altered music and changed the game. ANOTHER great job MS. O.G.!!!!!!!!
Mr Video flat out on the couch after foreplay lol (to his credit he did recover) and BroAction “please don’t stop, please don’t stop”…exactly. Thanks WMOG for spreading the joy! ❤️🎶
Imagine how mind blown they'd have been if they'd known this was ONE DUDE, in his BASEMENT. Love, LOVE Boston
Those of us that grew up in the 70s and 80s had it so good when it comes to music. You actually had to have talent back then to be somebody…..unlike today
Amen.
There's a great video on here of a truly talented young man who records himself playing every instrument for this song.
One of the greatest songs ever. It’s impossible to listen to this with a massive smile on your face.
Hey WonderMamma it's your ASU Design student that is a big fan! I love your song choices for these reactions. Great video. I was thinking about you cutting up this song and all the reactions and placing it all in the spreadsheet. And that is just step one. Tough. Nice work.
Imagine you were a teen when this LP dropped.
This was such an amazing record. And when you learn more about the band and the actual recording sessions it only makes you love it even more.
Tom Sholtz was incredibly gifted and will always be remembered for not only his talent but his ability as an inventor.
It's amazing to think that one guy played every instrument on this album. Check out the history of Boston. From Tom's basement studio, straight to the stars!
Tom Schultz went to MIT in Cambridge Ma. He lives in the town I was a police officer in. A couple of the band members went to MIT as well.
@drogusmaxwell6640 said, "It's amazing to think that one guy played every instrument on this album"
This is patently false. As documented in the liner notes of every copy of this record and the remaster clearly state all drum tracks were played by Sib except for one. Jim Masdea plays drums on Rock and Roll Band. Barry plays electric rhythm guitar on Foreplay, Long Time and Let Me Take You Home. Barry plays lead and slide guitar on Let Me Take You Home which was written by Brad. Fran plays bass on Foreplay and Let Me Take You Home. Brad plays acoustic guitar on Let Me Take You Home. Tom has done a very good and self serving job of obfuscating who really did what on this record.
You absolutely knocked this one out of the park WonderMommaOG! I can't remember ever jonesing so hard for one of your compilations as I did this one! We know what it took to release it, I was crushed when you told us you had a hard drive failure! Many thanks for pulling through for us! THAT'S as OG as it gets!
Wow, thank you! Yeah, that whole drive thing rectified itself way more nicely than I anticipated. I was very lucky.
Arguably one of the best rock albums ever, a masterpiece
Always loved this song, really sounds like the 70s
Thanks Momma, reliving my teen years through your channel!! Up the volume, singing too loud, dancing till I'm out of breath... No cares in the world, looking forward to the next vinyl hit.. Well, maybe one awful worry, debate & speech classes!!! I absolutely hate public speaking, still!! 😉 ✨💖✨
Brad did the entire album, recorded and mixed. The hired band members to play shows. Very cool!
Master class, a perfect example of rock organization. Bravo 👏
Boston is a band that I absolutely love. So underrated. As far as the classics go they are definitely one of my favorite. And this song is of course a great one. As far as I'm concerned Boston doesn't have a bad song.
A true Head Bopper, can't stay still when you hear this song. Brian had one of the best voices. RIP
So glad you were able to get a good cross section of reactions. They're gems.....and so are you for putting this together! I was 23 when this song arrived and I relived my first experience all over again. It made my day.
While I'm not thrilled about turning 56 next month, I look back to my youth and remember all the great songs from the mid 70's and beyond.
This song was in heavy rotation on FM rock stations back then. The beauty of radio was not knowing exactly what songs were coming up, but you knew it would be great.
Nice compilation as always.
For me growing up in the late seventies into the 80s gave me such a wide variety of music exposure. Summers at the pool as a kid hearing GREAT music on the radios, rock, soft rock, metal.. it really was a great time to experience. Hell so many great genres of music you can’t eliminate. From Blues all the way up to Punk, so many great performers!!! Experience it all guys and appreciate it! Life is shorter the longer you live! Build those moments!
I totally forgot to thank you immensely for doing the video. I know how much work goes into it. 🥰
Great compilation of great reactors to a great song+! Thanks again, WonderMomma!🎵👏🎉
I'm so glad the younger generations are able to experience Boston (or 60/70/80s rock in general) - this track is one of their best. Thanks for putting this together - well done!
WOO HOO…!!! 👏👏👏💥
You killed it again WonderMommaOG. This song is and will always be epic.
Dang girl. You did it again. Great job. I know alot of people appreciate you doing this.
YEAH! Foreplay Long Time reaction is done! I'm ready to enjoy this.❤
There was an abundance of “foreplay” in the 70’s and 80’s and you never felt icky when it happened to you. Just Eargasms for days. 😂
What a timeless, euphoric, classic gem!!! Great video of reactions!!! Thank you for your hard work!!!
I so look forward to these Compilation Reactions of yours WonderMomma. I heard these breath taking moments on Vinyl at booming parties in the mid to late 70's. The house would start to groove, everyone coming into cadence, hormones cycling together and the floor becoming spongy like a trampoline... then lift off. The low got high and the high got higher.
Love to see a mashup for "Bad Company" doing "Feel Like Making Love" because of how everyone was completely caught off guard with their first time hearing it.
I always look forward to your reaction compilations. Thanks for this.
can you imagine me and my best friend Robbie riding the back roads in rural Tennessee drinking a beer smoking a joint and rocking to this when it first came out. THE BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE
Ryan and George [Lost In Vegas] are so spot on. This album came out during my senior year in H.S. and every time I hear this song, it brings a smile to my face. It's an anthem and I'm so happy to see others get the same joy out of it. Thank you, once again, @WonderMommaOG, for another great mashup. 👏🥲
This band brings me right back to the 80’s, riding in my uncle Johnny’s black and gold TransAm. He blasted this album with the windows down, summer vibes everywhere. 🤘
The all-star version you used for your Making Of segment is what turned me on to Dino J. His voice is crazy good. They did this cover during COVID.
This is one of the few albums that every song is great!
in a lot of ways this almost like a modern take on Beethove's Ode to Joy. Once again great job.
Back then we were so used to great music for soooo long from the 50's on through the 70's. You heard it on the radio every day and I think we knew these songs were great but took them for granted. It's amazing to me so many young people are hearing these for the first time. I don't think anything today compares with it. I think thats why they are blown away.
Nice job Wonder Momma, I just love how everyone jumped right on the Foreplay joke bandwagon, nope that was not the Foreplay portion of this experience as she always likes it, there's more to come!!
That second solo is intense.
This came from a perfect album. Hands down.
I saw Boston on November 20 1976 in Nashville Tn they were the warm up band for Foghat the album titled BOSTON had just been released that was the best concert ever both bands were awesome the place was rocking..
❤ worth the trouble 💜❤️
My absolute favorite song since I was a kid just really discovering rock music.
The Story behind the first Boston album is AMAZING!!!
I saw Boston in concert and one of my favorite things was how well they recreated the music just as it sounded on the albums.
As always another great job putting this compilation together.
Thank you wondermomma for another banger mashup!
What a wonderful video. It captures all the BEST reactions to this fantastic song. Everyone is just blown away,,,,like we ALL were when it first came out. 💥💥💥🤘🤘🤪
How can anyone not feel good when they hear this music. so, so freaking good. it will never be topped...so keep it alive!!!
I'm have a BA. in Mass Media '78, so this tune is right in my swingzone in two ways. Damn, your cuts and fades are timed perfectly, with enough subtle and bold context to keep it all rolling. Great work! My first lab in '74 I had to splice film of a girl on a swing from 3 angles while swinging and it required patience and tact. Sure, we have great technology today, but you have to have skills. WonderMommaOG proves it.
wow, thank you. Forgive me, I am taken aback when someone "in the biz" so to speak compliments my work. I agree with the skills but will add that instinct is almost as important. Thanks again.
@@WonderMommaOG I agree - from instinct comes skill.
I was lucky enough to see them twice an awesome show
To those of us that grew up in the 70's and 80's had the best childhood .
Greatest debut album of all time.
Love this new release Miz WMOG! It received plenty of air time on the radio stations, during my high school days.
A good video with LOTS of reactors dropping their jaws is Stevie Ray Vaughn playing "Texas Flood" live at the El Mocambo.
1976 I was in 11th grade headphones on a little weed and playing this album over and over again
Please do Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” soon. I would love to see that
That one is on my list! I will bump it up a little... my partner Mike just asked for it too. 😅😅
oh hell yeah!
Mr. Video is my fave, but Ryan n George give the best take on it.
I REMEMBER THE 1ST TIME HEARING THIS(TAPE)ALBUM IN MY FRIEND MUSTANG2 .. HEADING OUT ... ON ACID, MID '70'S ...
One of the most epic debut albums ever. Love Boston!! Thank you, Momma
Forgot how awesome this song is🔥💯Well done WMOG, another great mashup👍 Gonna have to dig out my vinyl and turn it up to 11🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊🔊
This song can summon an entire generation!!
Gen X 💓
Best music
Best times
Shout out to Lost In Vegas. The first channel that got me to watch music reaction videos and they are still my favorite because they are the most analytical and honest.
Thank you Seagate for finally making this compilation possible, it was the longest foreplay I've ever gone through in my life 😂, but it was worth every minute! You win it again, Momma 👏🏻
😅😅🤣🤣
Momma, you are doing God's work with these compilations. Reliving old favorites through new ears is some type of therapy for me. Positively euphoric!
